Cyclops is Waiting for Me - An X-Men: The Animated Series Weekly Recap
Despite what IMDb told us that last week's bonus episode for the Hulk vs. Wolverine movie being inspired by Incredible Hulk Issue 181, this episode actually more closely follows Wolverine's debut issue. While it definitely takes some creative license, this encounter between Logan, Banner and the Wendigo hits that classic vibe for us (and has a more satisfying ending than the straight to home video movie did).Cyclops is Waiting for Me is our now bi-weekly podcast series where we are going back and watching EVERY-SINGLE-X-MEN-ANIMATED-EPISODE we can find. With Professor X's son David debuting here, this is one of the episodes that hurts when you know a fifth season never happened. Getting our Wolverine-focused episode of the season, we get to see X23 in action again along with the debut of Evolution's versions of Omega Red and Madam Hydra (a.k.a. Viper) and the only ever appearance of Gauntlet. As Rod points out, this is full fledge super hero action and (mostly) a full move away from the high school drama of the early seasons. And we are pretty sure X23 takes out full squads of Hydra soldiers. When the biggest villain in the series has been unleashed, let's not address it beyond the cold open. Makes sense to JC and Rod. Instead the X-Men get the cold shoulder from Bayville as the Brotherhood become unlikely heroes (despite being the cause for the original disaster) paired up with the mention of an election. That's not awkward timing at all. Cyclops is Waiting for Me is our weekly podcast series where we are going back and watching EVERY-SINGLE-X-MEN-ANIMATED-EPISODE we can find. JC and Rod are humbled as we are joined by Isaac Robinson-Smith, a.k.a. the Voice of Bishop. We aren't going for spoilers or a big scoop here. Instead, we are excited to share this amazing conversation as Isaac talks about the process of becoming an X-Men as a voice actor, his own personal connection to the character and what it's like having a character he is voicing show up on the shelf as an action figure. Make sure to enjoy this conversation with the voice of the Mutant Out of Time and sound off below. The big boss man himself, Zack Jenkins, joins Dan and Matt to talk about Xavier Files' transition to ComicsXF and the site's evolution from a blog ranking X-Men to a place for thoughtful comics criticism.
Xavier Files staff writer Cori McCreery joins Dan and Matt to talk about her favorite fictional character, Kara Zor-El, Supergirl.

This week's episode of Off Panel is the debut of a new format that might be appearing the first week of each month, in weeks where we're not running our standard interviews. It's Off Panel Book Club, where a guest comes on the show to discuss the past month in comics. And the first Book Club guest is Zach Jenkins, the man behind Xavier Files and the co-host of the Battle of the Atom podcast. Jenkins joins to share the story behind Xavier Files, the importance of having a niche, our five favorite comics of the month, Warren Ellis's approach, the visual storytelling from The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, slow burn comics, the small moments of Runaways, the most surprising and confusing comics of the month, the eternal return of Wolverine, before we dive into the Big Question of the month: What would it take for the X-Men to recapture an approximation of their past glory, and does that even matter?
It is a short episode this week because we covered the worst Marvel Zombies comic this week! Like Peter David and Co mess up a story about Howard the Duck and Dum Dum Dugan killing Nazi zombies.
This time Luke and Devin tackle the Astonishing X-men What If for long time friendo Xavier Files, discuss Morrison's better run on X-men, and are confronted by horrible gag strips again. Our theme music is by Vibe Leviathan and our cover art is by Kyle Latino.
Luke and Devin set out to answer questions starting with one from Xavier Files on Rogue and then they kept on coming. It's a very light on editing episode and very loose - so if you are into that, good! And if not, *shrugs*
