The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was founded in 1988 by legendary actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman. The camp is a haven for children with serious illnesses and their families, fostering joy, hope and friendship through both summer camp and year-round programming. Jimmy Canton, Ana Villafañe, and Luke Wilson join Google to talk about the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp and its mission. Jimmy is its CEO, and has been with the organization since its founding. Rising from counselor to CEO, he grew the camp from serving 288 children in its first summer to over 20,000 children and family members annually. Ana Villafañe is a board member for the camp and a Broadway actress. She recently starred opposite Holland Taylor in the world premiere of N/A at Lincoln Center, and plays the title character in the upcoming feature film, Castro's Daughter. Since yesterday, the phrase no good deed goes unpunished, rolling through my head. It was one of those weekends. We traveled to Northern Kentucky to watch one of my nephews play baseball. The drive one way lasted longer than the game. His team whipped the other so badly that the game only lasted three innings. And the opposing team never hit a ball close to him in left field. They never hit one out of the infield. And we dodged rain most of the day. Then I gathered up my sound system for a project I'm putting together, and it wouldn't power up. That means I have to find someone to work on it... The Bible has much to say about marriage…perhaps not so much the wedding ceremony, but certainly the design God has for it, as well as the roles to be fulfilled by both husband and wife. Why should we abide by our Biblical roles in marriage? So that people see Jesus and glorify God. Apple: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/preach-the-word/id1449859151?mt=2 […]

Prosecution laches is an infrequently used equitable doctrine that bars enforcement of a patent when the patentee has unreasonably delayed prosecution in a way that prejudices others. It is most commonly used by accused infringers as a defense in patent litigation, although the USPTO can also use it as a basis for refusing allowance. Regardless, it is most often used against the backdrop of multiple continuation applications.Continuation applications are applications which all follow from (i.e., claim priority to) a single earlier application. Creating “families” of patent applications in this way is a very common practice and allows the patent owner to claim different embodiments of the original invention in response to changes in marketplace and/or technological evolution. In Sonos Inc. v. Google LLC, currently on appeal to the Federal Circuit, the district court, following a jury verdict in favor of the patentee, found Sonos’ patents unenforceable due to prosecution laches, despite Sonos diligently prosecuting continuation applications for 13 years, serially filing a continuation with each allowance. If upheld, the ruling will represent a notable change to patent practice with far-reaching effects for U.S. innovators of all stripes including, independent innovators, corporate innovators, and universities. This FedSoc forum will use the Sonos v. Google and other laches cases as needed to explore the conflict between prosecution laches and current continuation practice and much more.Featuring:Joseph Matal, Principal, Clear IP, LLCPaul Michel, Former Chief Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal CircuitGene Quinn, President & CEO, IPWatchdog, Inc.Moderator: Jeffrey Depp, Policy Consultant, Center for Strategic and International Studies--To register, click the link above.

Sarc Fighter: Living with Sarcoidosis and other rare diseases
Despite high hopes and promise from the drug Namilumab, Kinevant Sciences is reporting that the drug was not effective in treating Sarcoidosis. A well executed clinical trail showed that the drug simply didn't make a difference for sarcoidosis patients. In this episode of the FSR Sarc Fighter Podcast, two of the leaders at Kinevant join me to talk about the results of the clinical trial and to look at what science learned from the study. Also joining me is FSR CEO Mary McGowan who helps shape the perspective of the outcome and to help us understand that while Namilumab did not turn out to be the drug we hoped, there is still a path forward in the fight against Sarcoidosis. Also have you seen the new Netflix mini-series in which one of the characters has Sarcoidosis called No Good Deed? I have. If you thought buying a house was stressful, wait until you watch No Good Deed. Netflix's new dark comedy series dives into the cutthroat world of real estate, where three families battle it out for their dream home—a stunning 1920s Spanish-style villa in Los Angeles. But this isn't your typical bidding war. As secrets unravel and personal drama takes center stage, these desperate buyers quickly learn that no good deed goes unpunished. With a star-studded cast featuring Ray Romano, Lisa Kudrow, Linda Cardellini, and Denis Leary, No Good Deed blends laugh-out-loud moments with jaw-dropping twists. It's like Desperate Housewives meets Big Little Lies, but with even more backstabbing and fewer white picket fences. We're breaking it all down TruVue style—spoilers, NSFW jokes, and our signature barbershop banter. If you've ever wondered just how far people will go to get the perfect house, this episode is for you. We bring the barbershop talk to the box office, because it's not about the review—it's the conversation with the crew. We keep it real on the reels, so grab your open house flyer and let's get into "Desperate House Buys".
This week on Page 7, Holden and Jackie give an update on what it's been like living in the fires as well as give MJ a rundown on Anora. Jackie avoided the fire one day by seeing The Brutalist, and MJ reports back that Season 3 of Natalia Grace probably shouldn't exist, but it did get Gideon and them to watch something other than Only Murderers, despite the true star of the show "Lady Out A Window" finally appearing. The new Jerry Springer doc on Netflix is just as crazy as it seems, and Jackie recommends Jenny Nicholson's youtube doc ripping apart the Dear Evan Hanson movie. Holden recommends Netflix's "No Good Deed" which reminds MJ of Lisa Kudrows classic comedy series "The Comeback" and Jackie has given up on Squid Game. MJ finished Other Mothers and gives it a thumbs up, Holden's still readin' One Piece, and Jackie finally finished creature commandos and highly recommends it! Thanks to the success of the beloved Comedy Central series, Broad City, Abbi Jacobson is widely known as a comedic force in film and television. But, as of late, she's busy uniting her comedy skillset with more dramatic performance opportunities, and the power of her ability to do both is undeniable. After soaring in the canceled-too-soon Prime Video series, A League of Their Own, Jacobson joins the ensemble of yet another brilliant comedy and drama combo, Netflix's No Good Deed.At the center of Liz Feldman's (Dead to Me) latest for the streamer, we find Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano as Lydia and Paul Morgan, a couple gearing up to sell their gorgeous 1920s Spanish-style Los Feliz villa. The appeal of the property sparks a bidding war, a war Jacobson's Leslie finds herself right smack in the middle of. Leslie and her wife Sarah, played by Poppy Liu, are ready to do just about anything to snag the house, but then they start to suspect there might be some dark and dangerous secrets tied to the property — secrets that'll test how far they're truly willing to go to get their dream home. As we now come to expect from a Liz Feldman show, No Good Deed is a laugh-out-loud romp that's also brimming with heart and pathos. Jacobson is especially adept at achieving a pitch-perfect blend of the two qualities, further cementing the fact that she's not only a hugely talented comedic actress, but a dramatic star, too. In celebration of No Good Deed's release on Netflix, Jacobson swung by for a Collider Ladies Night chat to revisit her choice to leave the Atlantic Theater Company for the The Upright Citizens Brigade, and how, all these years later, she's finally come to accept that she didn't have to study at an acting conservatory to take on dramatic roles. Get ready for the rise of Chloe East. She headlined 2016's Jessica Darling's It List, appeared in a number of episodes of Liv and Maddie, and was a series regular on both Kevin (Probably) Saves the World and the 2021 HBO Max series Generation, but the one-two punch of The Fabelmans and Heretic in the feature film realm will undoubtedly put East on the map in a wholly different way. In fact, it already has. She's got a number of highly anticipated projects on the horizon including Liz Feldman's new Netflix series No Good Deed, Kogonada's A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, and At the Sea starring Amy Adams.East was a scene-stealer in Steven Spielberg's Academy Award nominated feature playing Monica, Sammy's devoutly Christian (Gabriel LaBelle) girlfriend. However, it's Heretic that proves she's a true powerhouse in a leading role. She headlines alongside Sophie Thatcher as Sister Paxton and Sister Barnes, respective. They're two young missionaries making the rounds in suburban Colorado telling the locals about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Eventually, they knock on Hugh Grant's Mr. Reed's door. Little do they know, he's ready for them, and he's determined upend their beliefs in the church. With Heretic now playing in theaters nationwide, East joined me for a Collider Ladies Night chat to revisit her earliest inspirations, general love and knowledge of cinema, what it's been like finding her voice in Hollywood thus far, and pinpointing the pitch-perfect tone for her character in Heretic.
