Um, uh, so, ya know? We all have crutch words we use in podcasting and there are ways to combat this small issue. While it won't kill your show, excessive use of crutch words in podcasting aren't appreciated by listeners. Why, as a podcaster, should I care? Answer: Without getting too geeky, caching is a web technology that allows dynamically generated webpages to load quicker. It generates the webpage and stores it in memory for a time and serves it up to all visitors instead of generating the page every time. This also works for RSS feeds. When you change something in your RSS feed (add an episode) the RSS feed may be cached without the new episode. Once the cache is cleared, your new episode will be in the feed. ______________ Got a question you'd like us to answer on the show? This week's interviews are all about the intersection of podcasts (the content) and voice assistants (the channel). Interviews were conducted onsite at the Podcast Movement conference. Guests include Zack Reneau-Wedeen of Google followed by Tom Webster from Edison Research, Suzy Schulz of Westwood One, Will Mayo of Spoken Layer and Steve Goldstein from Amplifi Media. We close with Ahmed Bouzid and Brielle Nickoloff from Witlingo. In all, seven guests weigh in on the intersection of podcasts and voice.
A few days ago, Google made good on its promise and the promise of its product lead, Zack Reneau-Wedeen, to roll out podcast results and inline players within search engine results pages. Coupled with the backend transcription that Google uses to ascertain what exactly you're talking about in your episodes, there's a strong chance that we'll start to see YouTube like "sectional" search results, people listening to parts of an episode or single episodes without subscribing and thinking bigger picture, there's a real chance that podcast SEO will become even more strategic as we potentially begin to optimise what we say to hit keyword results. Of course, that comes with positives and potential negatives, if the "old, wild west" style days of SEO rear their head again. Podcastification - podcasting tips, podcast tricks, how to podcast better
For a VERY long time Android users have not had a native podcasting app - and Google Podcasts is trying to make that problem a thing of the past. I just hope these first steps that I’m going to tell you about in this episode/video are something they follow up on diligently. My hopes for this episode and its accompanying video (embedded in the show notes post below) is that people who use Android devices and have never listened to podcasts before will begin to make use of Google Podcasts. So stick around - I’m going to show you how to use Google Podcasts step by step - and give you my opinion of how it compares to the other podcast apps that have been around for a long time. [1:56] Get started with Google Podcasts via a Google search - look for the play buttons [2:53] What should you do if your show is not available in Google Podcasts? Google has finally joined the audio revolution with a new app, Google Podcasts. Product manager Zack Reneau-Wedeen joins Jefferson Graham to fill listeners in on discovering podcasts for Android phones.
