Got my 2023 Podcast Movement Recap ready to roll, and of course, it all starts with YouTube. The best session I attended was from Jay Nachlis of Coleman Insights and Steve Goldstein of Amplifi media- their Thursday keynote was The New Rules of Podcasting on YouTube.Yes, a show on YouTube is a podcast. And you need to have a YouTube strategy, even if your show is audio only. Your content needs to be on the platform, or at least a teaser directing to your podcast. I'll explain. Folks are consuming podcasts on multiple platforms, and you can get them to open their podcast player if your content is good enough.YouTube itself was at Podcast Movement, talking about ingesting shows via RSS feed. This seems like a giant step forward, but there are some important caveats.Rob Walch's annual "That Marketing Advice for Your Podcast is BS" session yielded both some important info and stats, but also stirred the pot on some debates. He says your episodic podcasts on Apple should include episode numbers. We go deep on that.AI was a big topic at Podcast Movement. Use it as a tool, not a replacement, and always check the work with a human.Spotify was there, talking about video and how huge it's become. You can get your video podcast on Spotify, but only if they are your host. And that leads to a whole bunch of other issues. Finally, what does a bonsai tree have to do with your podcast? Leave it to the great Tom Webster to explain.

The Marketing Mix: Thought-starters for B2B Business Leaders
Steve interviews Jesse Park, President and Co-owner of amplifi. Jesse shares his journey of transforming the company from a print specialist to an agency that helps nonprofit organizations enhance their fundraising efforts , and how he built the marketing function from scratch. Jesse's background is not in marketing, but he recognized the need to improve the company's brand awareness and demonstrate their expertise by provide valuable resources to the nonprofit sector. Steve and Jesse discuss the challenges of marketing in a small business and the importance of aligning marketing efforts with business goals. Deciding on which of the pillars of marketing will have the most impact on growth - between brand awareness, product position, demand generation, and sales enablement – is critical when deciding on the initial strategy. They emphasize the need to hire for the specific skill sets that will drive results, rather than trying to find a marketing manager who can do everything. Jesse highlights their decision to intentionally repurpose content across different marketing channels and stages of the customer journey. By strategically using blogs, e-newsletters, case studies, webinars, and more, amplifi ensures their marketing efforts cover all areas of the sales funnel and drive both brand awareness and sales enablement. Managing a marketing team as a small business owner can be challenging, especially when juggling other responsibilities. Jesse talks about the importance of aligning marketing metrics with revenue and incentivizing marketing efforts accordingly; and clear communication and alignment between leadership and the marketing team. The episode concludes with Jesse's drink of choice for a fun marketing chat: a straight up scotch, or occasionally a James Baldwin cocktail for a unique twist on an espresso martini. Key Takeaways Small businesses can build an effective marketing function with a single team member, so long as it's backed by a clear strategy Content marketing plays a crucial role in establishing expertise and driving brand awareness, while also supporting sales enablement and product positioning. Align marketing efforts with the different stages of the marketing funnel to maximize impact and drive customer engagement. For the Founder or CEO, balancing marketing responsibilities with other business functions requires clear communication, prioritization, and a focus on revenue-related metrics. Dear Colleagues:Just under two years ago, I kicked off The Joyful Attorney Podcast with a mission statement: to bring joy, harmony and balance to the wonderful listeners with insightful mindset learnings and quite a lot of oversharing, as it turns out.Unlike 44% of all podcasts that are launched, I made it past three episodes. Indeed, according to Amplifi and Podnews there are only 760,000 that go past the 10-shows mark. And only 156,000 of those go out on a weekly basis. The Joyful Attorney Podcast ticks all those boxes with episode number 100 dropping today.. To celebrate this special occasion, I have tried to condense a century of top tips to transform your personal and professional life into under ten minutes. Even less if you speed me up and make me sound like I'm inhaling helium. At this point, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone out there who has been listening, to give me the encouragement to make it to 200 episodes… some time in spring 2025.Join Joyful on Demand for free for 30 days using code JOYFUL at checkout

We talk about why this is a valuable step for any business and the benefits it can provide. A financial review like this may seem like it only applies to huge corporations. However, a regular review is valuable to every company. The Business Assessment There are myths about why to do a business assessment, and we discuss a few of them. However, the important information is that this exercise can help your business. It is a way to get another set of eyes on what gives your business value and how you provide that to others. We are back after a nice end of year break… it felt really good to step away from the mics and enjoy everything that December brings for celebrating what we have and what we are looking forward to! Statistics mentioned in this show: There are currently around 3 to 4 million podcasts out there, according to ListenNotes. According to Amplifi and Podnews, 44% of the podcasts have less than 3 episodes! Only 720k podcasts have more than 10 episodes….out of those 720k podcasts, only 156k are releasing a weekly episode. According to ListenNotes, there were nearly 197,000 new podcasts released in 2018. The next year, that figure jumped to 316,000. The growth seemed quite significant in 2019, but 2020 brought more than 1,000,000 new podcast shows(!), a record number which more than tripled the previous year. 75% of all podcasters discontinue their show within 12 months of starting Lots of statistics can be found here: https://podcastpage.io/podcast-statistics/ If you are wondering if you should start your own podcast, here is a link to a presentation I did for alumni of the University of Tennessee: https://youtu.be/3bziM0Dnxwg Here are 3 ways you can support this show: 1. We made it to Episode 10! This episode is a massive milestone for us as of an April 2021 study. "According to Amplifi and Podnews, 44% of the podcasts have less than three episodes! Only 720k podcasts have more than ten episodes. While the remaining 720K, 90% will quit after 20." We aren't quitting, and we love being here with you! Thanks for choosing to listen to us! Today on the Pod, the brothers do some fun Holiday, would you rather, and Jey squeezes in a few "holi-dad" jokes throughout the episode. Don't worry; you don't have to laugh. The live studio audience that isn't paid does laugh for some reason. Next, the brothers get how hard it can be to communicate with your partner, kids, friends and family, and extended family this year; listen as they give some tips and tricks on the subject. The episode got even better as they talked about the wild and crazy ride of being the "young" parents of the group has been for them. Jey was 22 when he had his first kid, and Aaron was 19, almost 20. Spoiler: neither of them would change a thing. Lastly, they end with light-hearted situations, from talking to a mannequin to telling someone they're a problem. Make sure you comment and tell us what you would do in each situation. Don't forget their invite to you: spread some love, cheer, and help someone in need this season. This episode of Hopp on Calls with Kevin Hopp is the last part of the conversation with Marc Mac, Revenue-istician at AmpliFi. They dive into the practice of listening and how cold calling is almost never about buying or selling, but mostly about having genuine conversations.Kevin dives into why pitching to busy people never works while Marc stresses the need to regulate pace, volume, tone, and energy during a cold call. Marc also discusses how opening cold calls and holding the first 5 or 15 seconds are crucial to deepening conversations with prospects. QUOTESUse a framework to open a conversation in 15 seconds - Marc: "It's about that first 15 seconds or first 5 seconds. And I just find, if you have a framework and you really understand what you do, what you're trying to do, or what your product, the problem it solves, and so on and so forth, then it should be very easy to open a conversation." This episode of Hopp on Calls with Kevin Hopp is the first part of the conversation with Marc Mac, Revenue-istician at AmpliFi. Today, they discuss how to call out when a prospect is driving and how sometimes everything in a call can go right but it's still not a good fit. Kevin had to overcome his prospect's first objection by immediately calling out that he was driving and that now might not be the best time to talk. Meanwhile, it turned out that Marc's prospect was the president of a German company's regional office, so it was not a good fit. QUOTESIf it's not a good fit, don't try to set a meeting - Kevin: "Sometimes it doesn't make any sense to set a meeting even if they got on your list, even if you put all the time into doing research, even though you get them on the phone, and even though you had the long conversation, it doesn't make sense to set the meeting." Dunks and the team at Amplifi are creating a powerful new platform to help DeFi projects easily reward community members, affiliates, and content producers for promoting their projects, but based on onchain actions. Happy Podcasting! If you have a podcast, congrats! You're doing better than most people who do not have the courage to start just one episode yet. On today's show I show you that there are 4 million different podcast shows listed in the universe. But only a small percentage of them are still creating content. Most have died off due to a lot of different reasons. The article is from Amplifi. And they discuss the fact that although 4 million podcasts sounds large, only a small number of them are still in production. Sound FX for your show! Do you spend hours and hours editing your podcast with sound effects? I have a folder of sounds and clips I've collected over the few years. On this episode I play some of theme live in real time. Using Cleanfeed Pro account. It creates a multifuncional sound effects "clips" section for your recordings. Just record and press play on the sounds you want. Save and your done. My guest this week is Louisa Wong, Wavemaker CEO of the Americas. She is a pioneer in the programmatic space, starting her career on the sell side with stints at AOL, CNET and at Sky where she headed the satellite company's trading desk. She joined the buy side in the early days of Dentsu's Amnet and remained with the company at its Amplifi and Carat units. The British born executive moved from London to New York five years ago. Last just July, she was tapped to head the Americas region for GroupM's Wavemaker. In our conversation, she speaks about her career and her perspective racial bias in the United States as a British Asian. Speaks of her hopes that her work will lead society to a better place. And she speaks about the evolving role of the media agency and the direction of Wavemaker with a range of brands including several, new disrupter companies. Great conversation. Thanks Louisa. Thanks to the BeetCast sponsor Mediaocean. And thank you for listening. I hope you enjoy the episode.
