Being in Motion's "FREE DANCE" ecstatic dance meditation workshop, presented by Wonderment Wellbeing on Zoom during the 2020 lockdown, you can now enjoy the wave whenever your body needs to shake it out! Track list below: mix by Freddy Drabble aka Dirty Monkey. Our ecstatic dances trace a journey of music based on a map of 5 elements that moves the focus up through the body, to a vigorous high point of complete abandon and expansion, to then warm down again via more subtle poetic movements to a final meditative point. The intention of these sessions with Wonderment was to help you shake off the tension of that unique time and bring the dancing spirit of fun, celebration, vital energy and community into your homes; to turn the isolation that many of us were experiencing into a moment of connection: connecting with our body, our breath, our presence, our inner and outer spaces and all the beautiful people who were tuning in to dance. Track list: About the facilitators: This combination of ecstatic dance and Skinner Releasing Technique is being developed by Being in Motion's founder Freddy Drabble and movement director Maria Rita Salvi. Freddy is a professional performer and DJ. He has over 15 years of experience in ecstatic dance as practitioner and facilitator. Maria Rita Salvi is a certified Skinner Releasing teacher, choreographer and dance theatre performer with over 15 years experience of teaching, performing and facilitating across Europe.

TOTEM #7 "Emotional Intelligence" Feat. Iain McGilchrist(Author) + Shama Rahman (Neuroscientist)

Play Episode Listen Later May 3, 2019 133:13

    Spring ’19
 TOTEM #7 “Emotional Intelligence”
Feat: Shama Rahman (Neuroscientist, Musician, founder of “Neurocreate”) + Iain McGilchrist (Psychiatrist, Author of “The Master and his Emissary, The divided Brain and the making of the Western World”).
Investigating the concept of “Emotional Intelligence”: Can we separate emotional intelligence from rationality, both as a brain function and in terms of location in the brain? Can we really quantify emotional intelligence? How has it’s popularity brought it into everyday culture and has it helped? What is intuition and “flow”? Is emotional intelligence situated more in the left or right brain? Will our culture ever emerge from the dominance of left brain, isolated analytical thinking of reductionist materialism? What are the implications of the new respect for Emotional Intelligence? Badger Radio's new episode of TOTEM with host Freddy Drabble is now live, perfect for those of you who driving, cycling, commuting or just soaking in the bath.
Apart from great new tunes, this seventh show deconstructs emotional intelligence, as Freddy researches an old interest of his regarding the need for a more emotion-centric approach to science and culture. May '18, Artful Badger's LOVE AFFAIRS with DJ OLIVER BARNETT It is with huge gratitude that we present this mix from DJ and visual artist Oliver Barnett, to celebrate this years pick of the bunch. It was recorded during his recent set at BAZIQUE festival in South Africa, organised by the much loved Nick Ladd who co-organised The Glade festival in Uk. Bazique wants to provide a platform for liberated self-expression as made popular primarily by Afrika Burn. This deep chilled electronic mix from Olly must have been the perfect sunset for the punters taking them on a long 2 hour journey, drawing on Olly’s love for remixed African and singer songwriter tracks but primarily his love for deep electronic soundscapes. https://soundcloud.com/olly-barnett www.bazique.co.za The Artful Badger is a horny old beast and has developed quite a fancy to a few DJ’s in his time, and with this series of Love Affair mixes he takes a low bow in homage and declares his undying love to his favourite DJ's, placing their mixes one by one, on a hallowed altar of dance floor joy.
