This week, we chat to the multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Cosmo Sheldrake from his home in Dorset. True to form, he recorded his side of the conversation outdoors in the countryside, so there are quite a few birds and woodland creatures keeping us company throughout this episode. He explains how he records the most intimate, low-level sounds of animals, fungi, rain and even tree sap, and how he goes about recontextualising them in his music. He also tells us all about his musical childhood with his mother, who was trained in Mongolian overtone chanting and who had previously lived and travelled with the pioneering electronic composer Karlheinz Stockhausen.Links:Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake https://www.amazon.co.uk/Entangled-Life-Worlds-Change-Futures/dp/B084T51RCY/The Mystic Spiral: Journey of the Soul by Jill Purce https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mystic-Spiral-Journey-Soul-Imagination/dp/0500810052Excavated Shellac: An Alternate History of the World's Music by Dust to Digital https://dust-digital.com/pages/excavated-shellac-an-alternate-history-of-the-world-s-music-1907-1967-tracklistSmithsonian Folkways (ethnographic recordings and folk from around the world) https://folkways.si.edu/Listen to all the music featured in this episode on our Spotify playlist:https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4ZoAZxQIlWVfH1dsiP5GAV?si=a1187808f9334992Music featured:Cuckoo Song (Cosmo Sheldrake, Wake Up Calls)Teo (Miles Davis, Sketches of Spain)Wriggle (Cosmo Sheldrake, The Much Much How How and I)Rich (Cosmo Sheldrake, Pelicans We) See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Everything that surrounds us and is within us is made of energy— from the sun and the spectrum of light that enables nature and us to grow; to the bioelectricity in our cells that encourages regeneration; and to the plants we eat, enriched through photosynthesis. The immensity of this energetic life force is something we humans can’t see or touch or hear or feel, but it’s there. The world is electric, and it is time to adjust our frequency. In today’s episode, ALICE asks, ‘What is your frequency?’ and we hear from renowned experts in the field: Dr. Mae-Wan Ho, Hal Puthoff, Dr. Rollin McCraty, Fritz Albert Popp, Jill Purce, and Rupert Sheldrake.

Jill Purce, internationally recognized pioneer of sound healing, lives in London, but she'll be joining us from her appearance at the IONS conference in California to share ancient vocal techniques. Jill is living proof that the call to sing a sacred song doesn't have to involve words. Jill will share ancient vocal purification practices that cleanse and tune the radiant body and demonstrate how the voice has access to subtle dimensions of reality through Mongolian and Tibetan overtone chanting. All your perceptions of “sacred song” will be shattered listening to Jill's ecstatic singing.
JILL PURCE pioneered the international sound healing movement through her rediscovery of ancient vocal techniques, the power of group chant, and the spiritual potential of the voice as a magical instrument for healing and meditation, and introduced Overtone Chanting and other Healing Voice Workshops into Europe, North America and Japan. Jill Purce Through her workshops, Inner Sound and Voice; The Healing Voice; Re-enchanting the World; Ritual Resonance - Healing The Family; and Ritual Resonance - Healing The Ancestors she has taught internationally for thirty years, teaching diverse forms of sacred chant, and especially Mongolian overtone chanting. She is the author of "The Mystic Spiral: Journey of the Soul Jill Purce is a master in "Overtone" Chanting. This is a form of chanting traditionally found only in Central Asia - in Mongolia, Tuva and Tibet. In Mongolia and Tuva (Siberia), it is called khöömii (khoomei, höömii or xöömii) which means throat singing. In Tibet, in a few Tantric Colleges only, it is done by the monks as part of ceremonial practice. http://www.jillpurce.com http://www.healingvoice.com
