Excited to have Dr. Zvi Goldberg, DACM of Acu for Athletes back on the Podcast! In this episode, we talked about chronic pain and stress, why it's not always about trauma, how the nervous system works, how therapy isn't always the answer and finding safety in abusive situations, and why Zvi is so passionate about helping people. Dr. Zvi believes that we are all athletes in the game of life and that chronic pain can inhibit our ability to live our best life. He believes that pain is multifactorial and that his Acupuncture practice helps people to get back to living their best life, even if they don't consider themselves athletes. The conversation moved to personal opinions and takes on therapy, bodywork, and how they can work together for optimal patient support. Returning guest! Dr. Allison Patrice Gould, Doctor of Physical Therapy and all-around hype queen. Dr. Gould is back and is starting her own PT business! Ally shares her passion and dedication to her skill and how much she loves learning about and helping her patients. We discussed what made the decision to go off on her own, which began with a story of a cell phone and a T-Mobile representative. This moment of understanding and affirmation from a stranger was the catalyst for Ally to go out on her own and embark on a new chapter. We got to unpack the power of pursuing something that brings value to the world, to one's community, to one's workplace, and to one's relationships. All in all, the conversation is about the importance of pursuing one's own path and the motivating factors that can lead to such a decision.Love and loss have given Ally a lot of information about the world, information that has made her feel lonely. She bravely shares what that looks like and her hopes for the future. A major takeaway from this conversation is that you always bet on yourself because when the game is stacked and the chips are down, if you bet on yourself, you're not losing. Even if it doesn't work out, even if things blow up in your face, you've still learned and you've still been fierce and you've followed something that you believed in.We talked about the courage it takes to walk away from moldy dates and betting on yourself, knowing there is more for you.If you enjoyed this episode please share with a friend and come back for more! I feel like this was the best conversation of this series with Psychotherapist Devori Nussbaum, excited for you to listen! How can we address our fears around food? What can we learn from our relationship with food? How has keeping myself safe informed of the way I relate to food and the world? All our challenges in life are an opportunity for us to let go of the stories that we spun in our childhood to keep ourselves safe and to start realizing the truth of who we are, which is just expansive, joyful, free, confident, valuable being and aliveliness. How will I respond to life? Fear-based - protection focused, isolated, defended, numb and safe. Or am I brave enough to choose a different path?If this conversation resonated, please share it with a friend
I'm excited to welcome you back for part 2 with Devori Nussbaum - psychotherapist, food therapist, nutritionist, educator, and mentor who helps you make contact with yourself again. Yin yang. Hot cold. fast slow. Up down. damp dry. salt sugar. Bright dark. Our bodies are constantly looking to find balance in this extreme world and communicate with us by way of cravings. When we can identify our cravings and needs we can bring our bodies back into balance and not deeper into more extreme cravings. If this conversation resonated, please share it with a friend! I'm excited for you to listen to this conversation with Devori Nussbaum - Psychotherapist, Food Therapist, Writer, Educator, mother, and all-around wise woman. Devori shares her personal journey in healing her eating disorder and what she learned about herself. How does a power dynamic play into our relationship with food? How do you relate to things in life in general? There is a choice between having a power struggle or operating in harmony with all your parts. It's important to acknowledge all parts and their concerns and then take self-leadership in making a choice to move forward and have every voices' needs met. What does said harmony look like? Tiferes, Refua - the path to healing is finding harmony. Listen, get curious to all parts, all voices. Find ways to work with yourself and swim with the current of the flow of life. With the help of macrobiotics, energy healing, and eating whole foods Devorie found healing and has amassed a wealth of knowledge she generously shares. It always surprises me how hard it is to walk away. How much support, validation and strength it takes to walk away. And Hashem gives it to Avram as he invites him to leave his land, his father's home, and his place of birth. The things that nurture and feed us can have an expiration date and it comes time to greener pastures - or rather the land that Hashem will show us. Thank you, Avram for showing us how it's done. What it means to believe. What it means to walk through hard times. What it means to be human. What it means to walk the land of Israel. What it means to be a Jew. Gimmel Tammuz is the beginning of Geula, starting with the Rebbe Rayatz's release from prison - changed from a death sentence to 3 years in bitter exile in Kostroma. It wasn't clear if this was a good thing until 10 days later when the exile was lifted, and the Iron curtain took another 70 years to come down. Sometimes external validation is important. Sometimes the influencers with a huge following need to endorse this great gift that is the land of Israel. And then we process. And learn. And evolve. And lovingly get invited to try again. To engage with expansiveness, flow and abundance. When we feel ready. The Meraglim Moshe sent and the Meraglim Yehoshua sent had one unifying goal. To conquer and settle the holy land of Israel. They both took very different roads to get there. Very different strategies. Both are important to this process of entering the land flowing with milk and honey. It's time to stop vilifying our needyness, dyfunction and not being ready in the moment. Those are important, too. Erev Shabbos Mishpatim 5752 some powerful countries met to talk about limiting and pairing down the weaponry of the world and use the resources instead for agriculture. The Rebbe takes this as a direct lesson to us - as our purpose in this world is to bring Moshiach - what about this applies to us today?Less fighting with each other. More peace. More feeding our most vulnerable. Everything that is upright, moral, and sensible is, most importantly, Hashem's will. Let's be mindful and approach our life's choices with this intention. We are here to learn it and integrate these themes into our conscious and unconscious minds.Learning Torah sustains us and becomes part of our blood just like food. It becomes personal, real, and a part of who we are. By finding ways to bring it to all mediums, languages, platforms, and audiences expedites the actualization of Moshiach.
