Spectrum 14 by Charles Ross Spectrum 14 is a calibrated array of prisms that cast a dazzling display of luminous color across the Museum's rotunda. Bands of spectral light traverse the space in relation to the sun, which follow a slightly different arc through the sky every day. Over time, Ross's work changes in response to Earth's rotational orbit, connecting us to the premodern experience of astronomical observation and calculation that defined cycles of days, seasons, and rituals. Season 6 Episode 5: Joseph Gatto Unsolved - Interview With His Son Mike Gatto In this episode of Invisible Tears, Jane and Amanda interview Mike Gatto about his fathers unsolved homicide. Joseph Gatto was murdered November, 12, 2013 in his home in Los Angeles California. While a very small amount of DNA exists in this case as well as a sketch of a potential assailant, this case still remains unsolved with very little to go on. Mike's personal and professional journey gives him a unique perspective on victim advocacy, reform, victims rights and trauma. Just last year in 2024, Mike wrote a deeply personal book entitled "Noir by Necessity: How My Father's Unsolved Murder Took Me To Dark Places". In this book, Mike outlines all the details known in his father's case, many theories that have developed, and of course, the trauma him and his family have gone through. You can purchase his book through the link below: https://www.amazon.com/Noir-Necessity-Fathers-Unsolved-Murder/dp/1685133819 Anyone with information about Joseph Gatto's homicide should contact LAPD Robbery Homicide Detectives Barry Telis or Chris Gable at (213) 486-5910. During off-hours, calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247). Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone. All text messages should begin with the letters "LAPD." BEFORE TURNING TWENTY, MY GUEST EXPERIENCED AND INDULGED IN MORE IN THE LA AREA, THAN MOST PEOPLE IN A LIFETIME. MUSICIAN, CREATIVE, STORYTELLER AND WRITER, JENNIFER FINCH, WAS REMOVED FROM HER ADOPTIVE MOTHER'S HOME AT 11 YEARS OLD. SHE BECAME ASTUTE AT RUNNING AWAY FROM HOME BY THE AGE OF 13. AND AT 14, SHE GOT INTO DRUGS AND PUNK ROCK. SHE ADORED HER MOTHER WHO STRUGGLED WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUESAND JENNIFER SAYS “IT WAS A TIME WHEN WOMEN WERE PUNISHED FOR EXPLORING OTHER WAYS TO LIVE THEIR LIVES OUTSIDE OF THE NORM.” JENNIFER FINCH IS THE BASS PLAYER AND VOCALIST IN THE SEMINAL PUNK BAND “L7.” L7 MADE THEIR TELEVISION NETWORK DEBUT ON THE DAVID LETTERMAN SHOW IN 1992, THEY HIT THE TOP 10 MUSIC CHART IN THE SAME YEAR. OCTOBER 2, 2025, L7 CELEBRATED THEIR 40TH ANNIVERSARY AT THE BELASCO THEATRE IN LOS ANGELES. TODAY, WITH DECADES OF LIFE EXPERIENCE UNDER HER BELT,JENNIFER LOVES EXPLORING BIG IDEAS, RECOVERY, HOW TO MAKE CHANGE IN THE WORLD, SELF DEVELOPMENT,ART, SPIRITUALITY AND MORE. It's was such a pleasure meeting Jennifer. She"s real and down to earth. She's experienced a lot of life, especially at a young age and today she can look back with acceptance and wise reflection. My guest was born at the Salvation Army center for Unwed Mothers in Los Angeles. As an adoptee, she has a wonderful perspective on family. She shares "family is built on love and not necessarily anything else." She spent a lot of time as a small baby and young child with other adopted children. Her parents told her that "some babies come from mommy's tummies and some do not. Family is family." Being adopted doesn't define Jennifer. Her parents split up after seven years. Her mother was experiencing mental wellness issues, social pressure issues and Jennifer was exposed to extreme behavior. Eventually, Jennifer did find her biological mother and her half sisters. "Curiosity, being open minded and humble" are Jennifer's super powers. "Sandy's resentment," Jennifer believes, "actually helped me to become more and have more acceptance and meet people where they're at instead of forcing narratives of how they should behave."Sandy gave Jennifer many gifts, including the gift of understanding, compassion, the gift of wonderment, life is nuanced and that life isn't always convenient." Throughout her childhood/life she learned the importance of how to maintain friendships and the significance of showing up for other people.Jennifer has been sober for thirty five years. Chad Dime, Co-Founder of DIFF Charitable Eyewear was raised in Los Angeles California. He was born into the eyewear industry thanks to his father who owned and operated an eyewear business for over 40 years. His dad passed down the knowledge of product design, import, manufacturing and wholesale to him throughout his entire life. On the manufacturing side, he was traveling to China by the time he was 15 years old to learn the ins and outs of what it takes to work with partners overseas. In wholesale he was attending major markets as a teenager to learn the ins and outs of what it takes to sell to major retailers both nationally and internationally. He was fortunate enough to know at that very young that he would be following in his family's footsteps. While attending college at San Diego State University he was the President of the nationally ranked SDSU Surf Team. His role there allowed him to work with many notable brands like Red Bull, Rip Curl and TOMS as he obtained sponsorship from each of these businesses. After years of building campus rep programs with these brands he learned the importance of both social media marketing along with social enterprise. The partnership with TOMS shoes was his motivation to build a business that gave back, and it became his dream to start a sunglasses brand that could help change the world. After graduating from SDSU he met his business partners. Together they began selling sunglasses at electronic music festivals across the country. It was here that they realized there was a massive void in the eyewear industry that they knew they could fill. Eager to disrupt the monopolized eyewear industry they founded DIFF with a mission to create affordable designer eyewear that gives back. The weekend following Mr Olympia I went to Los Angeles California to take part in Los Angeles Fashion Week produced by Art Hearts Fashion. This would be my 5th time volunteering backstage with Art Hearts Fashion and it was one of the best shows I have been part of, including 2 I attended as part of the audience. Walking in backstage was like a mini family reunion; seeing all of the staff, photographers, models, and other volunteers I had seen or met with at previous shows. This was a chance to reconnect the sort of family that only forms at events. 3 days of helping designers left and right, I was moving chairs, I was carrying cases of water, I was herding models, organizing clothing and accessories ....I was in my element.Hit play on this episode to hear all about my experience from the October 2025 Los Angeles Fashion Week produced by Art Hearts Fashion, and how it has played into how I will approach photography in the near future. We want you to get to know your doctor before meeting them in person because you're making a life changing decision and time is scarce. The more you can learn about who your doctor is before you meet them, the better that first meeting will be. When you head into an important appointment more informed and better educated, you are able to have a richer, more specific conversation about the procedures and treatments you're interested in. There's no substitute for an in-person appointment, but we hope this comes close.Meet The Doctor is a production of The Axis. This is the first solo release by drummer and producer Jason Ganberg of the duo, Deep Dark Blue. Recorded and produced in Yucca Valley and Los Angeles California between 2022-2024. After a lot of transition and change I wanted to write and create some music that encapsulated and wrapped up a certain time in my life. Some of these tracks started with me recording grooves in my practice space on my phone, and some from field recordings taken from trips in Mexico and Colombia. I didn't want to set myself any boundaries stylistically so I let myself write in a free flowing way without judgement, tinkering with synth lines, bass parts, samples and grooves until things clicked for me. These are a collection of my favorite pieces during this process and I hope you enjoy this little journey as much as I did making it. - Jason Ganberg Written and produced by Jason Ganberg Mastered by Matt Parent

Darrell Castle talks about the riots in Los Angeles currently ongoing as well as attempts to put them down with National Guard troops and even U.S. Marines. The question, what does that portend for America and our future? Transcription / Notes ANARCHY AND TRUE CHAOS Hello, this is Darrell Castle with today's Castle Report. This is Friday, the 13th day of June in the year of our Lord 2025. I will be talking about the riots in LA currently ongoing as well as attempts to put them down with National Guard troops and even US Marines and what that portends for America and our future. I am recording this Castle Report as the chaos and anarchy rages on in the once great and beautiful city of Los Angeles California. Those words, chaos and anarchy, were the words chosen by Senator John Fetterman (D-PA). “I unapologetically stand for free speech, peaceful demonstrations, and immigration—but this is not that. This is anarchy and true chaos. My party loses the moral high ground when we refuse to condemn setting cars on fire, destroying buildings, and assaulting law enforcement.” Senator Fetterman's party, the Democrat Party, at least the California branch of it, is apparently convinced that they are gaining a political advantage from the pain they have inflicted on their city and state. Governor Gavin Newsom is treating the event as a campaign launch for the 2028 Democrat nomination for the office of President. He makes tearful speeches and he blusters like a tough guy saying go ahead and arrest me and get it over with. I guess he thinks we are all on pins and needles awaiting his martyrdom. The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, is at least presently in the state, unlike when she allowed two of the most beautiful cities in America Pacific Palisades and Malibu to burn to the ground just a few weeks ago. She and Governor Newsom turned in mutually disgraceful performances by allowing the city to burn and now, well they seem to have some weird affinity for fire. Newsom and Bass together have only one answer to the problems of Los Angeles and that is Trump did it. They have no answers, no policy solutions, just Trump must be responsible. The recent presidential election and even current polling data seem lost on them. Never mind the reverse morality of letting your city be overrun by people crossing the border illegally. They don't see the effect that thousands of people flying Mexican flags while burning cars, attacking police, looting etc. has on the rest of the country. The optics are very bad but they just don't get it. They say the protests are peaceful and just over exuberance, while in the background fires are burning. It's like that scene from the movie Police Story where Leslie Neilson's character says nothing to see here folks please move along while the background has a view of Warsaw after the German invasion. Bass and Newsom are representative of many politicians who focus on power plays of jurisdictional dispute and efforts to appeal to emotions for people who don't want to go back to where they came from while Mr. and Ms. Average American are focused on the need for law and order. It's pretty easy for a person living in my city of Memphis to see those videos and conclude, thank God I don't live in LA where the politicians don't seem to care anything about the people who elect them except as political talking points and numbers. For a few days after the presidential election, it appeared that Newsom was pretending to move closer to the center because he noticed the results of pretending to be on the extreme left. Perhaps he noticed that illegal immigration was the number one issue to normal Americans so these riots were a perfect chance for him to appear sane. Just say a few words that might lead someone to think you care about law and order. Just give the appearance that you care about the lives and property of the people of California, but no, you just can't seem to read the handwriting clearly on t...

Have you considered quitting therapy? Well, it might actually be a great idea. In this episode, we explore the idea that therapy isn't necessarily a lifelong commitment but rather a dynamic tool to be used when needed. We debate constant introspection may do more harm than good, questioning the fine line between healthy self-awareness and potentially damaging over-analysis. We chat with our friend, Karan Brar, to explore the motivations behind self-reflection, investigating whether it serves as a genuine quest for personal growth or merely as a coping mechanism to navigate the psychological intricacies surrounding the fear of being perceived as flawed, examining societal pressures and the internal narratives that drive this apprehension. In recent weeks, the United States has suffered several terrible tragedies. The Louisiana Bourbon Street massacre and the Los Angeles California fires. Watching these events, I wanted to share my thoughts on ways to deal with the crisis of life. In a world consumed by uncertainty, where wildfires blaze through cities and lives are uprooted instantly, a more profound truth emerges from the ashes. These moments strip life down to its core, reminding us of what truly matters. What drives us forward when all seems lost? What keeps us anchored amid chaos? In this episode, we explore the profound power of purpose—the guiding force that helps us endure and rise stronger. This podcast explores the essential question: What matters most to you? Through personal stories of resilience, such as rebuilding a life after losing a home to fire, and insights drawn from neuroscience, it explores how purpose can act as a stabilizing force, quieting the fear-driven amygdala and activating the reward systems in the brain that fuel motivation. Discover how, even in the darkest moments, purpose can transform pain into clarity and despair into determination. But this episode isn't just for those in crisis. Purpose is a tool we can all use in our daily lives. Neuroscience shows that reflecting on what matters most activates self-awareness networks in the brain, helping us make decisions aligned with our values. From tackling life's daily challenges to navigating profound uncertainty, this podcast will challenge you to dig deep and reconnect with your own North Star. Whether you're searching for meaning in the face of adversity or seeking to lead a more intentional life, this episode offers a compelling blend of science, psychology, and personal narrative to inspire you. Don't just wonder about the power of purpose—experience it. QUOTES BY DR. BRAY “Even in the darkest of times, there is always light.” “Crisis refines our purpose.”
