Welcome to another iteration of the Monday Breakfast show. Our first segment is dedicated to Nex Benedict, a 16-year-old non-binary child who died on February 8th following a brutal, transphobic assault in the halls of their own school. In the wake of their death, we as a community and a society must mourn for those lost to transphobic violence across the globe and reflect on how we can protect Queer and Trans youth to ensure they live full lives and become Queer and Trans elders. This is the first part of an interview from 26th of February show in which Rob spoke with Annette Brömdal, co-author of the review titled: ‘Supporting the health and wellbeing of trans autistic school-aged youth: a systematic literature review'. Annette Brömdal is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern Queensland. Their research interests fall within the areas of bodies, gender and sexuality in educational settings and healthcare services, specifically associated with critical trans studies. You can read the review in full here(link is external). This Saturday, the 22nd of June marks one year of inaction by the Victorian Government in making trams running along Sydney Rd, and across all of Naarm, accessible for all. The Sydney Road Accessible Tram Stops Now has been pushing for the 5.5km stretch of tramline to be made accessible before construction of the Sky Rail level crossing removals on the Upfield line begins. Once the construction begins, there will be no accessible public transport at all along the Upfield corridor for at least 18 months. To continue to pressure the Victorian Government, the campaign will rally on the corner of Wilson Av. and Sydney Rd in so-called Brunswick at 11AM. To hear about the upcoming rally and the campaign at-large, Rob spoke with Alicia Liley from the Sydney Road Accessible Tram Stops Now Campaign. We then hear speeches/panel discussions from the Western Sahara decolonisation, resources, and human rights event at Trades Hall on June 12th. The segment features: Mohamed Mayara, journalist, human Rights defender and cofounder of Equipe Media; Dr Randi Irwin, anthropologist and lecturer at University of Newcastle; Marisol Salinas, a Mapuche woman; and Keiran Stewart-Assheton, Traditional Owner from the Wandi-Wandi clan in the Yuin Nation. He is also President of the Black Peoples Union.Lastly we play Annie McLoughlin's interview with Josh Cullinan from the Retail and Fast Food Workers' Union about last week's site walk-off which aired last Wednesday on Stick Together. Songs played: 'You & Me' - Amy Alex'What's Sown Will Be Reaped' - Pikelet'Postcode Anxiety' - Karen Took The Kids'To Have and Have Not' - Rights Tough

Steve Albini (born July 22, 1961) is an American musician, record producer, audio engineer and music journalist. He was a member of Big Black, Rapeman and Flour, and is a member of Shellac. He is the founder, owner and principal engineer of Electrical Audio, a recording studio complex in Chicago. In 2018, Albini estimated that he had worked on several thousand albums over his career. He has worked with acts such as Nirvana, Pixies, the Breeders and PJ Harvey. Albini is also known for his outspoken views on the music industry, having stated repeatedly that it financially exploits artists and homogenizes their sound, as well as the flaws in the digital recording process and the superiority of analog technology. Albini's engineering skills have been celebrated for their sense of space, naturalistic tone, and the power of his guitar and drum sounds; his own guitar work is as imaginatively abrasive as his lyrics, which can be challenging and sometimes confrontational. Nearly alone among well-known producers and musicians, Albini refuses to take ongoing royalties from album sales, feeling that a producer's job is to record the music to the band's desires, and that paying producers as if they had contributed artistically to an album is unethical. In this episode, part two of a series of two, all songs selected by Steve Albini as guest for Australian TV show Rage, on June 29 2013. Welcome back everyone to The Dos & D Show, we're so excited to have your company! On today's episode the boys discuss what they have experienced and titled "The Pikelet Apocalypse of Hawthorn". A new segment is debuted in "Angry Boys" where the lads discuss what really got under their skin recently. Dos was the victim of D's anger while Dos' of course came from the road. (Even though he was in the wrong!). They experiment a theory of linking a song with a memory of your life with hilarious results. Including past love's, drunk moments and primary school productions. What naughty thing did Dos get up to on grand final day? Why did D spend $88 on a last minute platter? Why did Dos once again spend a night in D's bed? All these questions answered and more! We hope you have a laugh and enjoy the episode! Follow us on instagram - @dosandd_ Email us your questions as we would love to answer them on the show - thedosanddshow@gmail.com It would mean the world to both of us if you could please leave a 5 Star review to help us grow this community and empower more lives.
The story of Pikelet is the story of invention, of music becoming activism. Growing out of Melbourne’s folk revival scene, Pikelet was characterized by looping structures and sonic experiments. In 2014, Morris co-founded LISTEN, a feminist organization that promotes the visibility and experiences of marginalized peoples in Australian music. Morris has allowed their own politics and non-binary identity to challenge and stretch their pop gifts. With the release of the last Pikelet album in 2016, Morris was described as one of Australia’s “most fascinating and underrated musical icons.”

Famous people don't always devote their time and efforts to helping those in less fortunate positions. Instafamous Pikelet broke the mould. Pikelet and his owner Calley Gibson came in to the studio to talk about his autobiography The Extraordinary Life of Pikelet.
Amaringo: Named in honour of the late, great Peruvian artist Pablo Amaringo, Amaringo’s music combines songwriter Singer-Drummer Allie Ng-Lee’s native Californian psych-rock soul with Guitarist Nathan Kearney’s dark and emotive guitar playing. Only 6 months into their existence the duo have already supported Pikelet, Kitchen’s Floor, California Girls, FOREVR and more. Their debut EP gives nods to Can, The Zombies and The Kills as well as taking direct influence from local acts like Bent, Terrible Truths and Blank Realm. Recorded live at The Bearded Lady in Brisbane on the 20th of March 2016. Recorded & Mixed by Branko Cosic. Scrabbled: Clag vocalist Bek Moore formed Scrabbled with Extrafoxx main-guy Conwae Burrell and the group rapidly ballooned in membership not long after formation. Conwae has since moved on from the group but Dag front-man Dusty has taken on the male response vocals and rhythm guitar duties. These days there are anywhere between 6 to 9 members on stage at once playing guitars, double basses, self-made instruments, violins, synths etc. The group is a veritable who’s who of the Brisbane underground music scene (better known as The Real Bad Music Scene) and has included: Jason Bright (Dragster), Mark Spinks (Gravel Samwidge), Emily Wade, Max Fowler-Roy, Tim Green, Michael Bouwman, Sandra Selig (Primitive Motion), Marissa Allen (Bremen Town Musician), Glen Schenau (Per Purpose), Heidi Cutlack (Bent), Chris Nylstoch, Adam Sussman (X-Wave), Matt Earle (xNoBBQx), Nicola Morton (Club Sound Witches) and Skye McNicol (Wardenburger). The collective produce a pastiche of strange sounds tugging at the limits of sensible music, which goes hand in hand with their anti-establishment agenda and detest for Queensland’s conservative LNP majority. Recorded live at The Beetle Bar in Brisbane on the 12th of September, 2014. Recorded by Steve Palmer, Mixed by Josh Watson. Airing details: Originally via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 17th April 2016. Show production and engineering: Branko Cosic.
Evelyn Morris (aka Pikelet) programmed the music this week and in between we chatted new music, feminism, the name, the Listen project and the Noise in my Head. Liked the tracks you heard on the show? Evelyn had a few more up her sleeve that we didn't have time for. Take a look below for extra rad tunes. Bo Hansson - Leaving Shire Elephant Woman - Blonde Redhead C.O.B. - Eleven Willows Erkin Koray - Hale Yar True Strength - Black Song David Shire - No More Questions Chris Cohen - Heart Beat Beak - Battery Point Dick Hyman and Mary Mayo - Moon Gas
Tralala Blip: Tralala Blip formed in 2007 when Randolf Reimann (Massappeal) became involved with a Lismore disability service that ran music programs for persons with intellectual and physical disabilities. Frustrated with the lack of engagement in the program he began bringing along electronic music equipment to the sessions. His tenure at the disability service ended in late 2008 and he was told that none of the 16 participants were interested in continuing the service. After meeting with a few members of the ensemble it became clear that the project was not cut due to a lack of interest and in 2009 Randolph continued the ensemble not as a program but as an independent band. Since then, they’ve recorded a collaborative LP with fellow Lismore sound artist ‘Muttboy’ and released an album on Brisbane label Disembraining Machine. In 2013, the current lineup of Randolf, Mathew Daymond, Lydian Dunbar, Zac Mifsud and Phoebe Rose were invited to play Unsound festival in Krakow, Poland. Recorded & mixed by Andrew McLellan. Recorded at Red Mecca 2, The Pound, Brisbane. June 20th 2014. Wukir Suryadi & Tarquin Manek: Wukir is one half of Senyawa – a duo with vocalist Rully Shabara that draws from traditional Indonesian folk music and combines it with a punk sensibility. He’s become well known in experimental music circles for his captivatingly intricate instruments. In this recording you’ll hear him playing a javanese hurdy gurdy that he constructed. It’s very fitting that he be paired with Tarquin Manek (Bum Creek, Pikelet and Tarcar). Tarquin’s irrepressible clarinet bleats hysterically above the discordant harmony of the hurdy gurdy, sometimes they meet in perfect harmonic distortion. There is a veritable bag of tricks at their disposal and the performance goes through a myriad of textures and styles. Recorded by Tarquin Manek. Recorded at West Space Gallery, Melbourne. May 7th 2014.
