Ready? Set! Lip-Sync Lalaparooz! After last season's resounding success, the pre-finale episode is the Lipsync Lalaparuza once again. Queens will take turns randomly competing in lipsyncs against each other to be crowned The Queen of SheDoneAllReadyDoneHadHerses. In an excellent twist, if a queen is chosen first she now gets the choice of opponent or song, introducing other layers of strategy. With 7 lipsyncs, and a huge cash prize on the line, who will be the true lipsync assassin of the season. Will Crystal finally get screen time? Will Kori and Lydia one-up their onstage kiss? Is Suzie going to tap dance? Will we forget the Ella? It's all this plus more tea on an all new X Is For Show! It's been a long, wet road but we're nearing the end of the season and it's taken us back to VEGAS, BABY! After the year Nico, Kevo, and Jonah have had with Drag Race Live, it was so fitting this week would be ALL OUT VEGAS! The final five girls charge into a brand new number for the Drag Race Live Vegas show! We get interviews, fashion, and a musical number – but it leads to a shocking but really not shocking elimination. Then, join the crew for more Draft Race! It's all this and more on an all new X Is For Show! X IS FOR SHOW is a talk show for your favorite media, the same way THE OFFICE was a documentary about a paper company. Another season, another makeover challenge! Bringing in family makes these episodes so complicated – do the judges grade kinder because the ladies have guests? Do they go all in and get feisty about the resemblance or lack-there-of?? This episode delivers on fam, makeovers, drama, self-realization, and truly, nonstop memetic goodness. The ending is a twist, the new adjustments to the format are even better, and the girls serve like they're banking on tips to make rent. It's all this and more on an all new X Is For Show! The girls get asked to do something very few sets of girls have been asked to do: the girls do interpretative dance and acting/read original poems. It's kind of odd, it's a little boring, but it's a lot of fun? For the most part? The judges go gaga for the super silly (Lexi) and have a tepid response to on-the-nose (Suzie) and the bottoms wind up slugging it out for rated-lowest-in-a-weird-challeng. Then a repeat lipsyncer didn't stand a chance, based on stats/odd, but not our love for her. Plus – the Draft Race continues! Its all this and more on an all new X Is For Show! X IS FOR SHOW is a talk show for your favorite media, the same way THE OFFICE was a documentary about a paper company. Duck, duck Drag Queen! This week, the queens are tasked with a scripted acting challenge paying homage to notable gossip queen and homosexual, Ross Mathews ... I mean Truman Capote. Taking inspiration from iconic reality star moments, the queens must over act and shine against their scene partners. No nuance here, this week runway is the Black and White Ball. And the highly anticipated question of the season, "Who Should Go Home and Why?" was met… with cop-out answers from the biggest competition. And an unfortunate lipsync where someone is done by their own pair of scissors. It's all this plus more tea on an all new X Is For Show! Something is cooking -- it's ROAST TIME! RPDR's annual roast challenge has become a staple of the brand, featuring familiar barbs are familiar people -- and this year they went VILLAINOUS, BAY-BEE. Oh heavens to Betsy… Johnson! It's time for another design challenge, this time creating looks to match collections from the iconic and trailblazing designer Betsy Johnson. But first, it's time for the honored pre-design challenge mini challenges, the reading challenge! Learning from past mistakes, the reads were kept to the best of each girl. Split into three groups, each queen was tasked to make an outfit inspired by and would fit in their given collection. There were great gowns, beautiful gowns even, some wonky hemlines and a lipsync kiss that had us gagging. It's all this plus more tea on an all new X Is For Show! In 2022, two Ana de Armas fans filed a lawsuit after renting the 2019 film Yesterday and discovering that scenes with her from the trailer had been cut entirely from the film. This incident opened a discussion about what is "false advertising." For example, when a Rusical billed as portraying The Wizard Of Oz, Wicked, and The Wiz all at once turns out to be a parody of A Chorus Line - is the audience to blame for having strong reactions? The Action Pack will discuss this bizarre twist on an otherwise fairly serviceable Rusical and more, PLUS the latest round of our Drag Race Fantasy League game! Once upon a time, The Snatch Game asked the girls to do impersonations of famous celebrities, filled with references, jokes, and visual identifiers indicating the intention of the performance. In recent seasons, the performances have trended towards meme-style shorts or YouTube deep dives. Some girls had one joke (and panicked when it was used…by the host?) while some girls had too many jokes THAT NO ONE UNDERSTOOD (literally, Suzie, you're perfect but no one could understand so *cut* the voice), and yet there were girls rewarded for… giving up? (And being hilarious while doing it!) We'll give our own impression of what the tuck is going on on X IS FOR SHOW - PLUS! THIS IS IT!!! After weeks of prep and hinting, the team finally goes all in! After 17 seasons of main franchise, plus All Stars, international editions, spinoffs, and more, the HUNDREDS of queens throughout the Drag Race Universe have built up the most unbelievable track records, and Nico & Tori saw an opportunity to GAMIFY! Using these stats, Tori built a chart, Nico built rules, and thanks to a D20, the team now has the power to play along! Season 17 of RuPaul's Drag Race continues to make waves with the latest RPDR standard: RDR Live! Part Acting Challenge, part Comedy Challenge, and often all-around incredibly awkward, this challenge truly does test the Queens' depths of talent. This year's outing proved to have the usual highs and lows - but did the right queen land on the bottom? And if the Badonka-Dunk Tank's levers delivers a splash, does it even matter in the end?? At least then we won't have to hear about Vegas again anytime soon. (Or WILL we…?) Now THIS is what we call a music challenge! After an entertaining two-week talent show and a garment challenge that was as interesting as it was beautiful, Season 17 of RuPaul's Drag Race knocks it out of the park again with this year's music challenge! With TEN chart-topping performances based on iconic moments from Drag Race herstory, this season is really impressing with its challenges - but can it last through RDR Live next week? The Action Pack will discuss this, the latest elimination, and more on the latest edition of X IS FOR SHOW, so you won't want to miss it! MONOPULENCE! Drag Race & Monopoly are both wild games of chance and talent that ruin friendships – so OF COURSE they made sense to pair! The girls get mad messy as the challenge asks the queens to design opulent looks based on Monopoly locations. There's accusations of cheating, stealing, and an ugly ass mug – the drama! It's been a controversial premiere so far for Season 17 of RuPaul's Drag Race! While we got to meet all 14 queens up front, we've only seen half show their talent. While Lucky Starzzz dazzled and Susie Toot delighted, other queens struck a different chord with the audience. Will Acacia Forgot's country charm be wasted on the RuPaul stage? How will she compare to fellow country queen Sam Star, or the rest of the second half? We will have all this PLUS the latest on Canada's Drag Race with the final FOUR queens! Let's get BRUNCHED! It's time to talk about that finale (was it a talent show or a setlist?), the second week of Canada, plus more tea and talk! Kicking things off, the team dishes about the second half of that two-part finale, which watches like a bunch of singles, new staples, and then Shannel juggling. It left the season off on an odd note, not reaching the heights of Seasons 7 or 8, but the winners (and ALL the girls) were definitely deserving. Still, the second week of Canada Vs The World overshadowed it with some killer comedy. It's all this and more on an all new BRUNCH EDITION of X Is For Show! Holy Guacamole! Rusicals are a tradition, and this season of All Stars plays into the best parts of the annual challenge, with pre-recorded vocals by the girls, incredible storytelling, and amazing costuming. And then there's the girls' performances: Roxxxy's vocals, Nina's presence, Jorgeous's, uh, sexy murder bot dance? But also watch for some GAGGY badge math, some WEIRD decisions, and also a lot of love for a great episode. All this and more on all new X Is For Show! Math is wacky, numbers are crazy, and these Queens are having a moment – Angeria snips wild, Gottmik gets mad, and Plastique loses another lipsync. The Dolls were in full force tonight, if a little tame, darling. And the challenge is a little weird – it's a Rusic tribute but it also…has nothing to do with music? Because next week is the Rusical. And then it was a fashion challenge – so of course Miss Roxxxy was turned aaaaaallllllll the way up. Meanwhile, some girls get no screentime. It's another wild on an all new RPDR All Stars on X Is For Show! X Is For Show is your premiere place for web content where we discuss your favorite media, from comics to film & television to gaming and beyond! Slapped & Gagged. Girl, first off, this thing is for charity – so everyone's trying their hardest to win. Second, it's RPDR, so everyone is trying real hard to get that win. The politics of the season are beginning to take their toll on the girls (and the storyline) as Roxxxy, who turned casting her cut into a two-act musical, came for Angeria's antics like she was Roxxxy's understudy. Then there was the fruit, and the challenge, and lots of slapping, and the playback went on for a minute – and there was STILL time for a drop in cameo from RPDR legend Jaida Essence Hall! So come kick back and hang with us while we talk Drag Race on an all new X Is For Show! X Is For Show is your premiere place for web content where we discuss your favorite media, from comics to film & television to gaming and beyond! We don't just watch the show: we know the looks, know the moves, and we sing the damn songs as loud as we can. The early years lacked the single-ification that later RPDR would come to be defined by, but it's impossible to miss how central to the identity of the show music has always been. And now thanks to the magic of Tiermaker, kick back with a House of Love cocktail (jk), but on your Best Of The Dolls playlist, and listen/vote along as we rank all (well, like most) of the Drag Race Group Songs Seasons 1 - 16! X Is For Show is your premiere place for web content where we discuss your favorite media, from comics to film & television to gaming and beyond! You can find the Action Pack here every week, so be sure to tune in and join us for all the fun.
If it's a season of RPDR, you can be sure there's gonna be a roast. If it's a season of All Stars, it's going to have built-in grudges, egos, and years of hurt feelings – but this year, at least the jokes were ACTUALLY good. Maybe too good? The sharpness, the editing – it's all starting to point to an unusual season for charity, where perhaps not all of the girls are behaving… charitably? What's the edit, what's the tea, and what-in-the-hell – BOB'S BACK?! From Angeria's drag delusion to Roxxxy's vow for revenge, it's a party. PLUS news and pics from some amazing events featuring Sapphira Crystal, Monet X-Change, Thorgy Thor, Heidi-N-Closet, & more! DON'T LET THE TELETUBBIES FOOL YOU! This is STILL RuPaul's Drag Race - and, despite a very silly opening challenge, there was still PLENTY of shad! While Roxxxy Andrews was a diva in Season Five, she has grown up into a total pro – which is why her second All Stars run is already legendary. But is it for the right reasons? After an uncertain win last week, and a somewhat questionable comedy challenge this week, the episodes may as well take place in a factory with the manufactured drama as Angeria remains targeted, the judging stays extremely positive (except for Nina's), and it all smacks of shenanigans. Also: what was with the lipsync, math overwhelms Shannel, and more doll drama – so come talk Drag Race All Stars with us on a new X Is For Show! X Is For Show is your premiere place for web content where we discuss your favorite media, from comics to film & television to gaming and beyond! You can find the Action Pack here every week, so be sure to tune in and join us for all the fun.
This week on All Stars, production merged two classics – the MAKEOVER and THE GIRL GROUPS challenges!? The firemen are great, the girls are terrific, but there's a disconnect in trying to fit all of this into the time, without an Untucked, and still do it all justice. Plus – what was with the TIE!? AND ALSO, some of the Action Pack made it out to our favorite town in the world, Asbury Park, to kick off Pride month with Trixie Mattel and the Solid Pink Disco (WITH JAN!!!!!!), and made sure to hit up the local drag scene (there's videos of Nico dancing) – and we'll be bring it all to you! Snatch Game is one of the most beloved regular Drag Race challenges year after year – the results on Snatch Game of Love, though, can be a bit different. This season's entry was definitely a hit, but let's talk about which Queens did it a little bit better this outing, who ruled the runway, and how we feel about winners, double badges, and some of the best Snatch Game of Love(s) over the years! It's time for RuPaul's Some Stars! Jk, these Queens are THOSE BITCHES! This year boasts an amazing crew of legends, recent near-winners, and all around talent-stars, ranging from season one to season fourteen, this is a great time to engage with the best of Ru's girls. Roxxxy Andrews, Gottmik, Jorgeous, Shannel, Angeria, Plastique, Miss Vanjie, and Nina West all compete for charity, saving the world one ridiculous challenge at a time. We're loving the double drop premiere of this eight episode season, and we can't wait to spill on a new X Is For Show! It's All Stars time! With a heavy focus on seasons 10-14 (but none for you season 12), All Stars is bringing in mostly new-to-All-Stars Royalty, though two legends do return: Miss Vanjie, Plastique Tiara, Nina West, Gottmik, Angeria, & Gorgeous are joined by All Stars and way ass OG girls, Shannel (who is beautiful) & Roxxy Andrews, neither of who have been on the show in nearly a decade. Sapphira Crystal. Nymphia Wind. Plane Jane. A top top-three if there ever was one. This crew proved themselves, transformed, and brought new life to the show when it seemed like after Season 15 we'd done almost everything. After several years without any mischief, variants, or Miss Minutes, Loki has returned with a banger premiere full of twists, turns, and trickery (plus Sylvie, Mobius, and plenty more). On the other side of things, Only Murders In The Building & Ahsoka, two more streaming shows where the arc design is a function of the series (ie, moving forward the universe or telling a specific complete mystery) saw their seasons come to a close – and while both shows promise more from their characters, there's no dates or confirmed forms. Plus more of your favorite reality shows – Drag Race UK, Lego Masters, & maybe even a few (more traditional) game shows! X Is For Show is your premiere place for web content where we discuss your favorite media, from comics to film & television to gaming and beyond! Loki's back! The show that brought the term “variants” into your living room returns with a new set of rules, more variants, and a lot of questions about what-could-have-been. The MCU is filled with stories of what-could-have-beens with actors who came so close to playing roles over the years but didn't quite. Join the Action Pack as they dive into the history of the MCU and how it all could have been VERY different! We'll be taking 16 different Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes and presenting 2 variant castings for each one. After picking between those, we'll have an ultimate showdown to see which Marvel Cinematic Variant makes it out on top! This is one that no Marvel fan will want to miss. It starts with a small block. Add construction elements, IPs, celebrities, and (mostly) likable two–builder teams, and that's Lego Masters. After two US seasons, a holiday special season, and a ton of international editions, Lego Masters is back with wilder gimmicks, new themed-challenges, and of course, more Will Arnett (who beats us to the punch, joking about his own credentials). Join us for the newest season of Brad Pitt's brick fanatic competition – as well as the return of another international competition: RuPaul's Drag Race season 5! Plus a farewell to the fairweather all stars season of Project Runway, plus Ahsoka, Lower Decks, & Only Murders! X Is For Show is your premiere place for web content where we discuss your favorite media, from comics to film & television to gaming and beyond! It's here – Kandy vs Jimbo for the crown! All the girls vs all the girls for the Fame Games! It's been an odd season full of predictable moments, out of nowhere shocks, and drop outs! But now, a winner is crowned, and everything is different! Who brought it? Who left it all on the stage? The season & finale in review! Then, what's Food Stars? Why is Gordon Ramsey making people compete in the desert at ax throwing to get him to invest in their biodegradable K-Cups? Project Runway does underwear-as-outerwear, plus the WGA/SAG-AFTRA Strike, Great Food Truck Race, Summer Baking Championship, and more!
Do you like space aliens? Do you like history? Do you like space aliens MAKING history? Then DOCTOR WHO might be for you! As the long-running sci-fi series is about to undergo a massive revitalization for its 60th anniversary, now may be the perfect time for you to take the plunge into the TARDIS. But what even is a TARDIS? And SIXTY YEARS?? With so much to catch up on, it can be hard to know where to begin, let alone if you even want to! Never fear - the Action Pack's got your back! First up, we'll be taking a concise look at the core of what Doctor Who is. Then, Producer Kevo has come up with a short list he'll be sharing of 6 episodes that provide a perfect sample platter of the show from throughout its 2005 revival's run. As a group, we'll discuss the reasons for each episode's selection to see if we agree or if the team can come up with something even better. Lastly, we'll be giving a preview of another project coming up the time vortex: the Doctor Who Short Cut, where we cut the series revival's 175 episodes down to a more digestible 60.
Cooking shows now require some life-or-death element. Hulu's Secret Chef (which likes you remind the viewer it is “from executive producer David Chang”) is the latest entry, mixing the best of Cutthroat Kitchen, The Mole, Top Chef, maybe kind of the Saw movies, and hosted by a passive-aggressive Miss-Minutes-from-Loki. How much is H's SC about the cooking? How much is it about the gameplay? All in all, it provides a complex look at the nature and evolution of culinary programming in media. Plus – Strikes! Emmys! Project Runway! Drag Race! Great Food Truck Race! And more!
As one of Nintendo's best-selling yet somehow still underrated properties, Splatoon offers up a world with its own unique cultural aesthetic, beautiful music, and a unique spin on shooter gamplay. With online casual and competitive, as well as fantastic single-player platforming, even a digital card game, Splatoon offers so much gameplay. As one of Nintendo's few esport-viable properties, Splatoon's reach is expanding all the time.
Who's got the cakes: Mikey Day, Tyler Florence, or Paul Wesley? JOIN US TO FIND OUT! It's Sunday night, and that means it's time for an X Is For Show Weekly TV Roundup! First up in our Spotlight, the Action Pack will cut our way right through the entire new season drop of IS IT CAKE? The highs, the lows, the cakes, and the oops-it's-not-cakes. Then we'll discuss some SHOCKING eliminations from our favorite weekly reality treats: Drag Race All Stars, Project Runway All Stars, and Great Food Truck Race: David vs Goliath. Closing out, we'll hit a few Highlights discussing the latest from Secret Invasion, Strange New Worlds, and more!
The Action Pack were lucky enough to see several Tori Amos shows, and now we're totally teed up to talk Tori Amos. Tori's discography and characters transcend the expectations of most musicians, outlasting contemporaries and countless “copycats” – so who is she and what are the characters, stories, places, and elements that run through her music? Amos's songs transform across tours, releases, and even the “version” of Tori that performs the tracks. Tori's songs have become award-winning comics, she's written a book (Resistance) detailing her time in the DC political piano bar scene, and has played in films (and Cornflake commercials). With more than a combined 40 Tori concerts between them, Nico, TK, & Kevo weigh in on the musician often celebrated by her fans as “the goddess” – Tori Amos.
It's time for X Is For Show's roundup of TV spotlights and highlights – and this week it's full of crime and criminals. From this week's Secret Invasion debut (who can you trust?!) to Based On A True Story's finale (Tennis: 0, Death: 1) and Crime Scene Kitchen's new season (where the only true crime is the bakers' hubris), it seems as if every other show is trying to be either Serial or Only Murders In The Building. (Which will also probably cover.) Then the Action Pack take a quick look at highlights like Nintendo Direct, The Great Food Truck Road Race, Drag Race, Project Runway, & more!
While Nico and Kevo have been loving their whirlwind introduction to all things RuPaul's Drag Race in 2023, there is another love that they have had going way back, so far back that it's celebrating its 20th season with a bang. This week saw the premiere of Project Runway – which has been TK's big whirlwind – and also happens to be yet another summer season comprised of all stars! Join us for the laughs and the tears as we attempt to determine who's the bigger drama divas: the designers or the drag queens. Plus, a lil Food Truck Road Race and a lil Crime Scene Kitchen makes this a can't-miss, don't-skip, must-like, sub-worthy super-goop legend-sode!
