The Justice League has journeyed across space to help John Stewart in an intergalactic trial, and we're following along! The Manhunters, robotic lifeforms who were the precursors to the Green Lantern Corps, have come to Earth seeking out John Stewart. The League tries to stop them before John turns himself in. He is then taken to an alien planet for judgement as he is accused of destroying a planet while doing his duty as a Lantern. Unfortunately he admits to his guilt of the crime. The League does not believe it. Flash risks the death sentence to defend him. Superman & J'onn head to the destroyed planet's moon to seek out answers. Hawkgirl confronts the other Lanterns for their lack of support. It turns out the Manhunters are out for revenge against The Lanterns for taking their jobs and the Guardians for abandoning them. They orchestrated the situation to cause mistrust and dissention. Thanks to the League, John is acquitted. They must rush to OA to stop the attack by the Manhunters. A Manhunter takes the main Lantern Battery power. Thankfully John is able to save the day with his oath. With StreamYard screwing content creators, I am looking to switch to Restream. If you are a content creator or if you know any content creators, please send them this link: https://restream.io/join/KrKVn Since my StreamYard subscription ends in May 2025, it does not make any financial sense for me to switch to Restream at this time. With that said, the more use I get out of that link the sooner I can get away from a company that obviously hates its clients. Thank you for helping out and spreading the word!

[School of Everything Else 2024] The DC Animated Universe marathon reaches its Avengers phase, as the established animated Batman and Superman from their own Animated Series' which had already crossed over, team up with Wally West's Flash (who had guested on Superman) John Stewart's Green Lantern (as opposed to the Kyle Raynor who guested on Superman) Diana Prince who should absolutely have gotten her own Wonder Woman: The Animated Series, J'onn J'onzz the Martian Manhunter (not to be confused with the unrelated Manhunters from the later Green Lantern: the Animated Series, which takes place in the Young Justice timeline) and Shayera Hol, Hawkgirl (not to be confused with Carter Hall, the unrelated Hawkman) of Thanagaria, the bird-people planet. Comics are weird. The first two seasons, simply called Justice League are an odd fit. It doesn't have an explosive beginning that has all these new personalities playing off each other, and the event of them being revealed and meeting feeling like a special, momentous thing, they're just kind of all there, converging on a bunch of boring aliens to fight. The following episodes are almost across the board two-parters, making it less easy to sit down and just enjoy one. And they are still remarkably coy about getting inside their heads and playing out the drama of being this close to other supremely powerful beings. Making them gods first is always less appealing to me than making them people first. Fortunately, when those first two seasons concluded we moved onto Justice League Unlimited. Self-contained episodes, even stronger animation and music, really making use of a massively expanded roster of seemingly everyone in the DC Universe, and a deft handling of smaller, more personal stories, with grand overarching umbrella plots. We get into some of that on this episode as there is some intersection between the two very different formats, (as well as a discussion of the Batman-Beyond closing episode 'Epilogue') but the grand finale will come in next week's concluding episode to the entire DCEU. THIS EPISODE SEETHES WITH RAGE AS WE DISCUSS ATROCITUS! FEEL THE ANGER THROUGH YOUR SPEAKERS AND INTO YOUR HEART Intro Green Lantern watch party THIS SATURDAY NIGHT 8:30 PM Eastern Background (2:35) Atrocitus created by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver in Green Lantern #25 (Dec 2007) The Manhunters were created by the Guardians of the Universe to protect the universe, but they went rogue and obliterated all life in Sector 666 - Atros was one of only five survivors in the entire sector He renamed himself Atrocitus, and he and the other four survivors called themselves the Five Inversions - they performed a ritual and discovered the prophecy of the Blackest Night, which foretold the destruction of the universe at the hands of the Guardians - after attempting to defeat the Guardians, he and the Inversions were imprisoned on Ysmault Abin Sur traveled there and began questioning Atrocitus about the prophecy - he freed Atrocitus from his prison to help guide Abin to Earth, but Atrocitus broke free and attacked Abin, retconning why Abin Sur's ship crashed to Earth He then created a divining rod that led him to William Hand, aka Black Hand, but before he could kill Hand, Sinestro & Hal Jordan intervened - Hand escaped with the rod (also a retcon), and Atrocitus was returned to his prison on Ysmault While in prison, his rage helped him create the red power battery, which he used to murder his fellow Inversions, creating rings and a central battery - he used these rings and batteries to create the Red Lantern Corps, who would assault Sinestro and anyone responsible for the destruction of Sector 666 During Blackest Night, the other corps leaders bring him to his home planet, and he has a moment of grief for the loss of his family - he temporarily allies with the other spectrum corps Made a deal with Guy and Ganthet that once Krona was defeated, Atrocitus would take possession to enact justice - although Krona was killed, Ganthet gave Atrocitus the corpse to do what he wanted with it Loses his ring to Guy Gardner, who joins the Red Lanterns as an undercover mole for Hal Jordan DC Rebirth - creates a Hell Tower on Earth to plant the Rage Seed that will birth a new Rage Entity - the tower is destroyed by Simon Baz & Jessica Cruz, but Dex-Starr managed to deliver the seed before the tower was destroyed Issues - Theme is the pain & rage cycle (9:36) Ruby - why would a psychologist go straight to rage? Ruby - Rage in dealing with loss (16:04) Really the only Red Lantern capable of thought - how does that affect his rage, and does it mean it's capable of being tamed? (23:11) Break (29:53) Plugs for Geek Peak, Bedknobs & Broomflicks, and Jordan Blum Treatment (31:11) In-universe - Attempt hemodialysis on Atrocitus Out of universe - Minus the powers, he's a very angry man raging at the world because of his loss (33:15) Skit (39:19) Hello Atros, I'm Dr - ATROCITUS AND YOU ARE NO DOCTOR *Gulp* Hello Atrocitus, I'm Dr - I SAID YOU ARE NO DOCTOR TO ME. I do not recognize your title, only the title of MASTER OF RAGE HOLDS ANY MEANING TO THOSE WHO SUBSCRIBE TO the power it provides. *pause* Um…I mean, I can't lie, man. I'm here as an…um…professional…to -YOU ARE WASTING TIME, Doctor Issues. *Rapid* I'm here to make sure you don't destroy all of existence because you are so powerful and mad and I don't want to offend you but I need to do my job so please just let me…Atrocitus…sir -I HATE WHINERS. WHINING is the provenance of those too incompetent to comprehend the veracity of the world and TOO WEAK TO COMPEL THE CHANGE REQUIRED to bring JUSTICE to those who would cause DESTRUCTION AND PAIN TO THE INNOCENT. *exasperated* OH COME ON! I'm doing my best here. Just tell me why you're so angry. -*seething* EEEEEEEVVVVVVVERRRRRYTHIIIIIIIING IS WRONG! Okay, but - DO NOT QUESTION ME, Doctor Issues. I HAVE SEEN THINGS your mere mortal brain IS INCAPABLE OF MAKING SENSE OF I want to make it right -YOU ARE TOO WEAK TO DO ANYTHING, Doctor Issues. Ouch, dude. I'm not against you -THEN WHO SENT YOU? The…um…if I tell you, you'll be…cross…er…like, more than now…or something -YOU CONSPIRE WITH MY ENEMIES! I have seen this coming, once I allowed my brain to acknowledge the TRUCE BETWEEN MY DESTINY AND REALITY You're projecting, which can get you in troub -DO NOT USE PSYCHOLOGICAL JARGON ON ME, Doctor Issues. But it's proper…oh man, this is much harder than usual…look, the way you come across, I usually try to offer something to help calm down. Can I do that? -WHAT? THERE IS NO CALM HERE. If you create an alliance with those aligned against me, Doctor Issues, THEN YOUR BLOOD WILL STAIN THE COSMOS FOR ETERNITY! I WILL SEND YOUR CORPSE TO A FAR AWAY STAR SYSTEM, and when they come to search for you, Doctor Issues, I will ASSAULT THE SHIP, rip open the cockpit doors, and DESTROY THE PILOTS WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE. Some people…not necessarily you, but SOME OTHER people…might consider that a bit…paranoid? -I'M NOT PARANOID! I KNOW THAT OTHERS ARE AFTER ME BECAUSE I'VE GONE AFTER THEM FIRST. That doesn't sound healthy either. Your blood pressure must be through the roof. -MY DIASTOLIC GOES TO INFINITYYYYYYY But that's the lower numb…that's not poss…you're just…what? -DO NOT DOUBT THE POWER OF THE RED LANTERNS. WE HAVE FORSEEN THE DESTRUCTION OF YOUR GALAXY AND IT TURNS CRIMSON WITH THE BLOOD OF YOUR DESCENDANTS. THERE IS NO ESCAPE FOR YOU THIS TIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMEEEEE I…are you even listening to yourself? -MY EARS ARE OPEN AND MY EYES ARE NOT OF THIS WORLD. I hear the voices of THOSE WARRIORS who seek a connection with the ULTIMATE POWER. Alright, I will stop you right there. You may kill me for this but you are NOT MAKING SENSE. -*pause, surprising calm but still intense* This world, and everything you know about it is not ready for the final meeting of powers you can't understand. *back to full intensity* ONLY THE RED LANTERNS MAY BREATH THE AIR THAT SMELLS OF COMBAT, AND WASH AWAY THE DISGRACE OF THOSE THAT CAME BEFORE US. That sounds nightmarish -NIGHTMARES ARE THE BEST PART OF MY DAY! I…can't match your intensity, so I won't try. I have to admit, I feel lost in your presence. That's not a good sign. I may have to seek a consult from someone else -THERE IS NO ONE ELSE TO PROVIDE FOR YOUR SALVATION. I WILL GIVE YOU THE DIVINE BLESSING OF THE BLOOD PROPHECY *vomit sound* Ew…you puked on me?! Is this blood? YOU PUKED BLOOD ON ME? *psychedelic/ambient music* I…do you see it too? What is this? You're…you're a tortured soul. You've been through so much. I'm sorry. I wish you had known help is out there…it's always there. -THIS IS NOT HOW IT WORKS! YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISINTEGRATED INTO THE MADNESS OF ATROCITUS. IF YOU HAVE SURVIVED…*quieter* then your journey is not at an end…your mind will travel, to parts unknown. My vision fades…THERE ARE OTHERS…YOU DO NOT KNOW THEM…BUT THEY ARE…OF YOU…*surprisingly quiet* and they make me…tame. I'm understanding more now, but still confused, and you're still here -NO, THIS IS NOT MY DOING. MY COMPLACENCY WILL ONLY LEAD TO THE DESTRUC OF MORE WORLDS IF I DO NOT GATHER MY ARMY, AND RECONSTITUTE MY RAGE. THIS OFFICE IS A CAGE, AND I WILL NOT LET YOUR WEAPON CONTINUE TO WEAKEN ME. I don't have any weapons! -YOUR HEART…IT BEATS WITH THE FORBIDDEN LIGHT. YOU SAY NOTHING…*quiet, twinge of fear* but your presence speaks evvvvverything. Um…thanks? -YOU WILL NOT HOLD MEEEEEEEEE *RUNNING, CRASH THROUGH DOOR* *pause* Seriously What the hell was that?!!! I should be dead five times over…and he looked like he was scared of me? I've had a calming effect before, but this is ridiculous! *phone rings* Hello? Yeah, sorry! I forgot about this call! Thank you so much, I just had the most unique patient…well, I can't divulge who, but…how did you know that? Yeah, and the one before? You can help? Ok, we'll talk about equity tomorrow. If you can assist with these lanterns, I'd be so appreciative. And put a contingency in for door accommodations. Ok. Bye. Manhunter. A name that strikes fear into the hearts of evil doers. There have been several who have been called that name. The best known are probably Paul Kirk, Mark Shaw and Kate Spencer.

On to the show with Steven Murphy & Javier Pena. Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar’s brutal Medellín Cartel was responsible for trafficking tons of cocaine to North America and Europe in the 1980s and ’90s. The nation became a warzone as his Sicarios mercilessly murdered thousands of people - competitors, police, and civilians - to ensure he remained Colombia’s reigning kingpin. With billions in personal income, Pablo Escobar bought off politicians and lawmen, and became a hero to poorer communities by building houses and sports centers. He was nearly untouchable despite the efforts of the Colombian National Police to bring him to justice. But Escobar was also one of America’s most wanted, and the Drug Enforcement Administration was determined to see him pay for his crimes. Agents Steve Murphy and Javier F. Peña were assigned to the Bloque de Búsqueda, the joint Colombian-US taskforce created to end Escobar’s reign of terror. For 18 months, between July 1992 and December 1993, Steve and Javier lived and worked beside Colombian authorities, finding themselves in the crosshairs of Sicarios targeting them for the $300,000 bounty Escobar placed on each of their heads. Undeterred, they risked the dangers, relentlessly and ruthlessly separating the drug lord from his resources and allies, and tearing apart his empire, leaving him underground and on the run from enemies on both sides of the law. Their book, Manhunters, presents Steve and Javier’s history in law enforcement from their rigorous physical training and their early DEA assignments in Miami and Austin to the Escobar mission in Medellin, Colombia - living far from home and serving as frontline soldiers in the never ending war on drugs that continues to devastate America. This is the real story from the actual DEA Agents portrayed in the HIT NETFLIX SERIES NARCOS You can find Steven, Javier and their amazing book Manhunters – How we took down Pablo Escobar here: https://www.deanarcos.com/ Stay tuned for more great episodes on The CJEvolution Podcast www.cjevolution.com Patrick
Hey yoooooooooooo we are back with season 4! A little late, we know. I guess we are liars... sometimes This is a fun episode full of human meat, combat knives, parasites, John Rambo, Cricket, urban camo, parkour, and port wine.
Welcome to our super, special two-part dialogue with the real DEA Narcos Javier Peña and Steve Murphy. In this first episode, they take us behind the scenes of how they came together, from the US to Columbia, and worked for six years, to get Pablo Escobar. We learn, what it feels like to have a $300,000 bounty on your head and how they dealt with the emotional ups and downs of this long-term, often very lonely and of course extraordinarily dangerous mission. Street Deals to Cartels Javier and Steve are two real American heroes who partnered with Colombian Law Enforcement to take down the world’s 1st Narco Terrorist, Pablo Escobar. Their story is actually the basis for the Netflix smash hit Narcos. Javier recounts how he used to work in Austin Texas, where he runs after street dealers. From street buys to surveillance, he never expected he will be sent to Columbia. It has been months before their superiors transferred them to handle the cartels and Pablo Escobar. “Pablo Escobar is one of the richest traffickers in the world. He built his empire on terrorism, on violence and its something we had never seen before. This is why we weren’t really ready when we started going after Escobar, cause we had never seen this type of tactics before.” - Javier Peña Narcoterrorism Javier and Steve recounted this different kind of terrorism that promulgated in Columbia. Pablo Escobar had orchestrated car bombs, which ranged from 10-15 a day which slowly escalated to 50 per day. “He wanted to kill as many innocent people as he could because this was his fight against Columbia. We try to explain that he challenged his country and we like to say that he actually won.” Steve Murphy He also had a bounty on the head of police officers. In fact, the DEA agents caught a 15-year old hitman who shot 10 police officers. The kid took home 100 USD per police officer he kills and he was able to feed and provide shelter to his impoverished family. More on this episode Listen to how Murph and Javier had to bend and break the rules and why they think the courage of the Colombian people and why they think their partners in Colombian Law Enforcement ate the “real heroes.” You’re also going to hear in their voices, the powerful bond, and friendship that has developed between them. In part two, you’ll hear the dramatic conclusion of how they ultimately brought Escobar to justice. We also dig into their life and leadership lessons. We touch on their book, Manhunters and their lives today as public speakers and teachers. To hear more about the real DEA narcos Javier Pena and Steve Murphy, download and listen to this episode. Bio: You may have seen TV shows and documentaries, or read books about the world’s wealthiest, and most violent drug trafficker, but now you have the opportunity to hear the real story of what happened in the investigation of Pablo Escobar and the Medellin Cartel. DEA special agents Javier Peña and Steve Murphy were assigned as the lead investigators targeting Escobar and his organization. These true American heroes provide a first-hand lesson in history as they discuss their efforts bringing down the world’s first narco-terrorist, the challenges they faced in oftentimes hostile and life-threatening environments, and the innovative strategies they employed to successfully end the reign of terror of the world’s most wanted criminal. Their presentation is followed by a Q&A opportunity during which Javier and Steve will entertain questions related to their investigation, the making of Narcos, what history changing investigation is next for them, and more. Fan of the Netflix series NARCOS? This week one of the real DEA agents who inspired the show stops by the studio to talk about how he helped take down the world's most wanted man at the time. Steve Murphy and his partner Javier Pena have a new book "Manhunters" that includes never before told stories about the dangerous operation. What was his biggest fear.. where did all the money go.. we cover it all! Steve also shares the next phase of his new project "The Lost Clipper", an ongoing investigation into the disappearance of the Hawaii Clipper in 1938 he believes was hijacked by the Japanese military. The connection he makes between the lost aircraft and the disappearance of Amelia Earhart is chilling.

In the decades they spent at the DEA, Javier Peña and Steve Murphy risked their lives hunting large and small drug traffickers. But their biggest challenge was the hunt for Pablo Escobar in Colombia. The partners, who began their careers as small-town cops, have been immortalised in Netflix's Narcos, a fictional account of their hunt for Escobar. Now, for the first time ever, they tell the real story of how they brought down the world's first narco-terrorist, the challenges they faced, and the innovative strategies they employed to successfully end the reign of terror of the world's most wanted criminal. Readers will go deep inside the inner workings of the Search Bloc, the joint Colombian-US task force that resulted in an intensive 18-month operation that tracked Escobar. Between July 1992 and December 1993, Steve and Javier lived on the edge, setting up camp in Medellin at the Carlos Holguin Military Academy. There, they lived and worked with the Colombian authorities, hunting down a man who was thought by many to be untouchable. Their firsthand experience coupled with stories from the DEA's recently de-classified files on the search for Escobar forms the beating heart of Manhunters, an epic account of how agents risked everything to capture the world's most wanted man.

Just in time for the Supergirl premiere, President-level Patron Brian selected HANK HENSHAW! Learn how this pastiche of Reed Richards became a fully fleshed out character AFTER he lost all his flesh! SHOW NOTES: Introduction Background Created by Dan Jurgens in Adventures of Superman #465 (May 1990) Originally a parody of the Fantastic Four, he, his wife, and two other members of a space shuttle encounter cosmic radiation - Hank suffers no effects initially other than white hair, but his body eventually decays - he transfers his consciousness to a computer He appears to his wife in a robot body, and she jumps out a window He then transfers his body to Superman's birthing matrix to journey into space Comes to believe that Superman was responsible for the shuttle accident, and vows vengeance After Superman's death, Hank creates a cyborg body and claims to be Superman reborn, in order to destroy his reputation - manages to convince Lois he really is Clark due to vague memories from the birthing matrix Defeats the Eradicator, another Superman claimant, and Coast City is destroyed in the aftermath - Cyborg claims Eradicator was responsible Plans to destroy Metropolis with a warhead, but is stopped by Steel, Supergirl, and the resurrected Superman - attacks Eradicator with a blast of kryptonite radiation, which passes through Eradicator to Superman, and restores his powers Superman punches a hole through Cyborg's body and kills him Later on, we discover Hank had transferred his consciousness to a device on Doomsday, who is floating in space - Hank's mind takes over an Apokolips fighter and creates a new body to take over the planet - is defeated by Darkseid's Omega Beams He gets captured into a small orb, which Darkseid releases him from if he promises to never return to Apokolips Helps a Tribunal capture several Kryptonians, including Superman - he turns on the Tribunal, and is punished by being sent to an event horizon Later is revealed to be in charge of Manhunters, which he has upgraded with Kryptonian technology His head is taken to Sinestro, and serves the Anti-Monitor so he can later die and rest in peace Most of his body is destroyed by the Green Lanterns, but he is resurrected by the Manhunters and is not happy about it Helps Ganthet save the Green Lanterns, because he wants to use the information to make himself mortal again His consciousness ends up merged with Boodikka until she fights a resurrected Doomsday, and he creates another body - his nanotech merges with the damaged Doomsday to become Cyborg Doomsday - Doomsday removes Henshaw from his body, and his consciousness is captured by STAR Labs New 52 - soft reboot of character - Hank is only survivor of a 10 year journey on board a space shuttle, but has no memory of the trip - thanks to Mxyzptlk, he remembers the pre-New 52 mindset of Cyborg Superman, and begins recruiting Superman villains to battle the Man of Steel Issues (18:44) Brian - "Why does Hank hate Superman so much?" In this alternate universe tale Hal Jordan is a space miner who find finds a Green Lantern ring that's running out of power.Affiliate link included.Transcript below:It's a new spin on the classic story of the Green Lantern. Find out about it as we review Green Lantern: Earth One Volume One straight ahead. Welcome to the Classy Comics Podcast where we search for the best comics in the universe. From Boise, Idaho here is your host, Adam Graham. The Earth One novels were launched several years back by DC with Superman: Earth One, and they did actually three different volumes in that series written by J.M.S., the creator of Babylon Five. These stories take superhero origin stories of classic heroes including Batman, Wonder Woman, Teen Titans – and they try and tell their story in a fresh way. It's nice because as a reader you don't have to know a lot about the continuity of the character. If you've got a general idea of the character you can pick up these novels and get an idea of what they're about without having to know all the backstory. I will disclose that I did receive a free digital copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. So that said, this book takes the story of Hal Jordan. Instead of, as in the comic book, him being a test pilot he is actually a space miner who comes across the body of Abin Sur as well as his lantern, and he takes Abin Sur's ring and puts it on and he's able to wield the power ring, which is good because he's attacked by a manhunter robot. He fights the robot successfully but he ends up being propelled into space, he's rescued by Kilowog. In the Green Lantern world Kilowog is a pretty important character, he's a sage guide. However, in this story, he actually wants Hal Jordan to train him because he assumed that since Jordan had the ring and the ability to wield it he must know what's going on and be experienced at this, because what has happened is that the guardians of the universe have given up on the Green Lanterns and decided to use the manhunter robots instead, and used them to track down any who have the power ring. And apparently the power battery has been destroyed so their rings have limited power, and so they set off to find any other wielders of the ring to get them to team up to perhaps find some way to stop the manhunters.Overall this is a good story, it has a couple of things going for it. I think, first of all is the protagonist – the protagonist isn't quite as arrogant as how Jordan can be, because I like Hal Jordan but sometimes his self-confidence can be almost too far. Here I think it's a bit more balanced, but what he does have going for him is a great deal of determination to follow this quest, and I think that helps quite a bit. The art is good: it is a bit dark but it reflects some pretty dark places. It's not grim dark or overly gritty but you're dealing with backwater planets that are dirty and places in space that are a bit dirty, so yeah, it's going to have that look and it manages to capture it well. I do hope in subsequent volumes that we'll see a bit more of the beauty and variety that a Green Lantern story really can feature. The Manhunters are nice fodder[?] but not really fully developed villains, although there is some sense of some sort of treachery or division going on within the Guardians – which has been a pretty common feature of a lot of Green Lantern stories going back to the 1970s. While I think this story ends satisfactorily enough I did have some questions and some concerns that bothered me: one is pretty much anybody being able to wear the ring and the ring not recruiting anyone, where in the main DC Universe the ring is set forth and goes and chooses a successor. Here it seems to be whoever picks it up,

For a dozen years on radio, Lon Clark starred as Nick Carter, Master Detective, the brilliant shamus who leapt from dime novels to pulp pages to the big screen and then to the airwaves. Aided by his girl Friday Patsy Bowen, Nick tackled cases that left the police scratching their heads in one of the longest-running detective dramas on the air. It's another xenomorph filled Friday here at Just One of the Guys as we continue our look at the four part crossover between the Alien franchise and the Green Lantern comic in Green Lantern versus Aliens #4. Having found his ring, as well as a giant, egg laying queen alien, Kyle Rayner has to make the ultimate decision of wiping out the xenomorphs or letting them live. Will Kyle have to become a killer? Will he save the rest of the former Lanterns? Will he make it to second base with Crowe (who still isn't the character from Mystery Science Theater 3000...mostly). All will be revealed. Plus we're continuing on with our foray into Judd Winick's opening salvo in the Green Lantern books with Green Lantern #131. Captured by the Borg...er, I mean The Manhunters, Kyle has to fight his way out of their techno-cultches (again, now a word, as I just added it to Urban Dictionary). Plus we get to witness the care and respect that Judd Winick takes with honoring the character of Guy Gardner as we see him elevate him to new literary heights...Nah, I'm pulling your chain, he turns him into misogynistic goon. Hooray for progress! But one thing I know you WILL be cheering for is my guest host today, Luke Jaconetti (Earth Destruction Directive) who rounds out out guests from The Vault of Startling Monster Horror Tales of Terror. So grab yourself a refreshing beverage and your mp3 player of choice, download the show, ans start to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! The Green Lantern hits just keep coming here on this 130th episode of Just One of the Guys, as we continue down the new road being paved by Judd Winick in the Green Lantern title. This time out in issue 130 we get to see Kyle beat the @$$ of some Manhunter robots who've modified themselves to spout Borg like propoganda...as well as perform Michael Flatley style dance moves. Plus John Stewart intervenes with Terry Berg and gives him some B.S. story about how Kyle's roof collapsed due to construction...yeah, that's the ticket, CONSTRUCTION...With the amount of carnage that goes on in Kyle's apartment, he's probably not going to get his security deposit back. We're also going to take a look at Green Lantern versus Aliens #3 where the excrement just got real (I'm doing a lot of faux swearing in these show notes...I wonder why?) as Kyle has lost his ring as well as most of his former Green Lantern companions, and now he, Salaak, and Crowe (sadly, not the one from MST3K) are tasked with taking down the aliens and their egg laying queen with next to no firepower. And joining me this week, I've got my roommate from Star Wars Celebration and the co-host of Nerds on Film/T&A Movies and The Vault of Startling Horror Tales of Terror, the "Hair-Metal Hero" himself, Mr. Chris Tyler! Maybe that's why the swearing quota has upped itself a bit. Regardless, unless you want a Manhunter robot to clog you to death, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening! Hello faithful listeners (in hopes that there is more than one) and welcome to episode 117 of Just One of the Guys, the Green Lantern podcast covering all things Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner. Mostly Kyle Rayner, as Guy is woefully sans comic appearances at the time. But he and his bar, Warriors, is name dropped in the latest issue, #117, which involves Kyle having his first big gallery showing of his art, a tussle with a reactivated Manhunter robot, and an appearance of a former girlfriend that will put Kyle and Jade's relationship on the outs. No spoilers, but her name rhymes with Tronna Doy... And I continue my catch up look at the Green Lantern Annuals from this period by covering Green Lantern Annual #6, a part of the Pulp Heroes event DC did that year. Kyle buys a painting with a very John Carter: Warlord of Mars feel and magically gets sucked into the world of the painting. As you do...There he turns into a swashbuckling swordsman on a quest to save the world from destruction. It's a great story by Ron Marz, with exceptional art from Jeff Johnson that I hope you'll really enjoy. So, unless you want to see the comic's deleted scenes involving Radu and Simone, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and start to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! Greetings loyal Fanterns, Young Justice fans, and DC Nationites! On March 16th, 2013, we all experienced a heavy loss. It wasn't just Aya or Wally West's "deaths" that were bad, it was the fact that DC Nation will never be the same again as Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice: Invasion are now gone from Cartoon Network. But, as you will hear in this recording of that day's Live Show Event hosted by DC Nation Podcast hosts Dan Schmidt & Michael J. Petty, with guest host Andy Behbakht, it may not be the end of these shows forever. However, in this ATA Live Show, the Trio discussed the Green Lantern: The Animated Series series finale "Dark Matter" & the Young Justice: Invasion series finale "Endgame". They talk about Aya's "death" and how she could easily be alive, the epic space battle between the Green Lantern Corps and the Manhunters, shipping Razaya, SuperMartian, and Spitfire, Wally West's "cease", Aqualad being back as team leader, Artemis's change to Tigress, and Dick Grayson's send-off. But that's not all, the three each give their own experiences watching both series' and explain how they got into each show. But that's not all folks, because for the second half of the show, Dan, Michael, and Andy play the voicemails that us here at the DC Nation Podcast have received over the past week from a bunch of fans (shout out to Jason A. and Rod) and cast/crew of Young Justice and/or Green Lantern alike! We hear from Phil Morris (Saint Walker on GLTAS), Josh Keaton (Hal Jordan on GLTAS, Black Spider on YJ), our friend Jeremy Adams (writer on GLTAS), Christopher Jones (artist on the YJ comic), and Jason Spisak (Kid Flash on YJ, Razer on GLTAS)! On top of that, superhero animation experts from all over the internet including, Eric from Superhero Shows, Steve Younis from the Superman Homepage, and James Harvey from World's Finest Online send Young Justice & Green Lantern their farewells too! We would also like to give a big thank you to everyone who has been a part of DC Nation, Young Justice, and Green Lantern: The Animated series in some fashion from those who write or come up with the story to the actors & editors to the artists and animators. Thank you all so much, special thank you to Giancarlo Volpe and Jeremy Adams for being involved on our podcast and getting on here to talk about Green Lantern and special thanks all those who called in, from fans to cast & crew, we wouldn't be here without you guys. Also shout out to DW of Fanboys Inc., Alisa Lea, Cards (you know who you are), and CellTherapy! Thank you all for doing what you have been doing and remember, Heroes NEVER Die!
Hello DC Nationites, welcome back to the DC Nation Podcast, here on Across the Airwaves, and it looks like we've got a special penultimate episode for you guys tonight! First on this week's agenda, we try and help get through some Manhunters when we cover the Green Lantern: The Animated Series episode "Ranx"! We discuss the possibilities of seeing more than one Earth Green Lantern in the series finale, Razer's realization of what the team may have to do to defeat Aya, and give our other thoughts and predictions about the final episode. Then, after covering the Plastic Man and Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld shorts, we move onto covering the Young Justice: Invasion episode "Summit" where we freak out over Dan's crackpot theory for the series finale, cry at the "deaths" of Aqualad and Artemis, rejoice at the return of Wally West, and plead with DC Comics to give Young Justice (and Green Lantern as well) a "Smallville Season 11-like" comic series that will continue the series for us fans. We quickly end our episode (as the discussions got a little long) with covering Smallville Season 11's "Effigy, Part 4" where we witness the birth of Miss Martian into the Smallville Universe, which opens the way for Bryan Q. Miller to bring in a Smallville-version of the Young Justice Team! Also, Batman and Martian Manhunter. All this and more on this week's DC Nation Podcast! And don't forget to tune in tomorrow at 2/1c PM on our Ustream account to watch our DC Nation Live Show Event covering the series finales of Young Justice & Green Lantern, as well as giving our final goodbyes to the shows and sharing our experiences with the shows in the past. You can read Michael's "Mild-Mannered Review" of Smallville Season 11 "Effigy" - Part 4 on the Superman Homepage: HERE.
Hello loyal DC Nationites, and welcome back to ATA's very own "DC Nation Podcast"! On this episode of the DC Nation Podcast, Dan & Michael go deep into Green Lantern: The Animated Series with the episode "Blue Hope", discussing Aya's soul, and digging even deeper into Razer & Aya's "Love Connection", while still getting to the good stuff of the Green/Blue Lanterns fight against the super-charged Manhunters. But once the topic switches from "Cheers" to Young Justice: Invasion's "Cornered", it's like a "Glee" catastrophe waiting to happen! We realize that Nightwing was being a total jerk to the Team, that Godfrey is getting REAL old, that Captain Atom should NOT be the spokesperson for the Justice League, and that Superboy & Miss Martian really need to get back together. And when getting to the discussion on Smallville Season 11, "Haunted - Chapter 4", your Dynamic Duo discusses Smallville's version of the "Speed Force", the Black Flash, Chloe's need for an attitude adjustment, and "Haunted"'s connection to "Justice". And fear not, for we also give our thoughts on the amazing "Batman of Shanghai" and "Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld - Level 2" shorts!
Hello our loyal DC Nationites and welcome back to Across the Airwaves' very own DC Nation Podcast! This episode is entitled "Gates of Fire" for a few reasons. In Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Hal and the gang (minus Razer) have to deal with angry Guardians, an army of Manhunters, and the second half of Season 1's "big bad": the Anti-Monitor! On the GLTAS discussion, Dan and I speculate just where did "Monty" send Hal and when (and where) does Sinestro come into play this season, as well as how to bring Razer back into the fold. Oh, and Lion King... But that's not all on this Week 30! On Young Justice: Invasion, the team has to deal with ex-Aqualad Manta and his team of super villains (including under-cover Artemis aka Tigress)! And to make things worse, Dan and I think they not only know who the Partner is, but the identity of the real traitor against the Young Justice team! They also go into another tangent about how to kill Lagoon Boy, and in 45 seconds, they fixed all the relationships on the show to make all of the fans happy. Unfortunately, there was no new Smallville: Season 11 chapter this week, but Dan and I do talk about the latest DC Nation Mythbusters, New Teen Titans, as well as another "World's Dumbest" from Aardman Entertainment. I also give my input on what you DC Nation fans should go out and buy immediately (hint: they both have to do with Batman) and I also read (sort of...) an email to the DC Nation Podcast from new listener and ATA supporter @Samaritan93!
