Send us a textHello and welcome back to Breakfast with Mom! This is our 4th and final episode for our Pink Ladies series. Today I want to tell you about a lesser known Lady Pink named Elizabeth H Baker. It is not known when Elizabeth H. Baker was born the exact date and location of her birth remain uncertain. She was raised in a period when women's roles were often confined to the domestic sphere, but she defied these limitations through her education and her determination to make a difference in society. Baker pursued higher education at a time when women's access to academic institutions was limited. She attended a leading women's college, where she developed an early passion for social reform and the empowerment of women.Resources:https://www.cowgirlmagazine.com/wild-women-wednesday-elizabeth-baker/https://pinkerton.com/our-insights/blog/the-lady-pinks-celebrating-womens-contributions-to-pinkertons-legacyhttps://chrisenss.com/operatives-elizabeth-baker-mary-touvestre/https://mygwork.com/news/international-womens-history-month-elizabeth-h-bakerhttps://chrisenss.com/operatives-elizabeth-baker-mary-touvestre/Thanksgiving Stories: https://www.agiftofhappiness.com/blog/from-awkward-to-hilarious-our-favorite-funny-thanksgiving-stories?srsltid=AfmBOoqzRSemxs9rRpBHo3CfQqiUDhUh1eKjguxB4tOinMF2oqLQeQHEAll the things: Music: "Electronic Rock (King Around Here)" by Alex Grohl https://pixabay.com/music/search/electronic%20rock%20kingLogo Artwork: Strawbeary Studios https://www.youtube.com/@StrawbearyStudios/featuredEpisode was researched, written and edited by ShanoaSocial Media: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090200010112X (formerly Twitter): @breakfastmompodEmail: breakfastwithmompodcast@gmail.comWebsite: https://breakfastwithmompodcast.com/

Send us a textHello and welcome back to Breakfast with Mom! This is part 3 of our Pink Ladies series. Mary Louvestre was an African-American Union spy in Norfolk, Virginia, during the United States Civil War. She delivered details of plans for the conversion of the wrecked USS Merrimack to an ironclad that would be named the CSS Virginia and which represented a great advance in Confederate naval capabilities. While she was not an official Pinkerton Lady, I feel she did the work of a Pink Lady and deserves to be highlighted in this series.Resources:https://pinkerton.com/our-insights/blog/the-lady-pinks-celebrating-womens-contributions-to-pinkertons-legacyhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Louvestrehttps://www.civilwar.com/history/significant-people-of-the-war/union-women/278058-mary-louvestre.htmlhttps://www.marinersmuseum.org/2017/03/featured-union-spy/https://blackandeducation.org/stories/2017/8/27/mary-touvestre-civil-war-intelligenceInstead of our “Say What?!” segment I thought I would share a recipe I found interesting and a good side dish for any Thanksgiving table;https://www.countryliving.com/food-drinks/a61974851/harvest-salad-pickled-pomegranate-seeds-recipe/All the things: Music: "Electronic Rock (King Around Here)" by Alex Grohl https://pixabay.com/music/search/electronic%20rock%20kingLogo Artwork: Strawbeary Studios https://www.youtube.com/@StrawbearyStudios/featuredEpisode was researched, written and edited by ShanoaSocial Media: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090200010112X (formerly Twitter): @breakfastmompodEmail: breakfastwithmompodcast@gmail.comWebsite: https://breakfastwithmompodcast.com/

Javi and Paul descend into the labyrinth of the Dada-ist haiku that is GREASE 2 and ponder the imponderable. Is Rydell High actually haunted by ghosts as Javi theorizes, and is this somehow also a stealth remake of Richard Donner's Superman? Could anyone other than the transcendent Michelle Pfeiffer have possibly pulled off her scenes, and holy crap is that teenage Pamela Adlon? Will either of our co-hosts emerge with their sanity intact? Tune in to find out — if you dare! — in our most deliriously deranged episode yet.
Madeline, Julian, and Emilio are joined by guest Jamie Homs as they continue their High School Movies cycle with a "Suggestion Box" episode on the original high school musical, Randal Kleiser's “Grease”. Does the magic of this bright and peppy classic work without the nostalgia of watching it as a kid? Ryan and Tim discuss the 2023 origin story Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.
It's the End of Year Spectacular! Thank you all for staying with us as we watched more TV than we did during lockdown. While we objectively LOVED every show we covered this year, unfortunately there were some shows that came out in 2023 that weren't up to snuff! Can you believe it?? BAD television?? Well it's true, and the guys watched three shows that sadly will not see the bright lights of 2024! Geoff and Max got bit by the IP bug choosing to do the TV show versions of National Treasure and Grease, with Disney+'s 'The Edge of History' and 'Rise of the Pink Ladies' respectively. Rich went the route of the frenzied social media critic and chose a chaotic pick of HBO's 'The Idol' starring The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp. Will the guys find anything nice to say about these three short-lived shows? Will Max even be able to find his show since it was fully scrubbed from streaming? Start putting all your favorite shows on DVD's again and find out! Since you already know who is hosting, here's a list of animals that also don't live for a full year: Mosquito Worker Bee Labords Chameleon Ruby Throated Hummingbird Giant Sunda Rat American Copper Butterfly --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pilotslicense/support

The latest episode of Girls Gone Hallmark is all about Hallmark Channel's newest original movie "3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost." Don't be scared to give it a listen – it's a real "spirited" discussion! If you enjoy listening to Girls Gone Hallmark, we could definitely use your 5-star ratings and written reviews on your preferred podcast platform. Apple Podcast listeners: Use your phone's podcast app -> find the Girls Gone Hallmark show -> scroll all the way down to the review section -> tap 5 stars and tell listeners why Girls Gone Hallmark is your favorite Hallmark podcast. Hallmark News - October 2023 TMZ reported that the Queen of Christmas Lacey Chabert recently reunited with Mean Girls co-stars Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Seyfried to film a Pepsi ad. Me thinks this might be a Super Bowl ad, maybe? Brant Daughtery announced that he and his wife, Kimberly, are expecting a second baby in early 2024. Daughtery will next be seen in this year's hardest to pronounce title “Joyeux Noel” on October 29th. We're starting to see posters for the Countdown to Christmas movies emerge! And commercials on Hallmark Channel. What do you think of the "Christmas on Cherry Lane" poster? About "3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost" Stars Julie Gonzalo and Chris McNally. These two are a real life couple - though I'm not sure if they are married. Seems like they are super private. They did have a baby in June 2022. Gonzalo plays Anna. She has 48 acting credits including Cut, Color, Murder from 2022. We last reviewed her for fan-favorite movie Pumpkin Pie Wars. Chris McNally plays Elliott. Chris is known for his role as Lucas on When Call the Heart. He has 40 acting credits. Outside of Hallmark, he was seen in Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies and Firefly Lane - both from 2023. Madeleine Arthur plays ghost Ruby. She was a regular in the now canceled series "Blockbuster," she played Mae in "Devil in Ohio," and she played Chris in all three “To All the Boys I've Loved” movies. The story is by Gregg Rossen & Brian Sawyer. The teleplay included both Gregg Rossen, Brian Sawyer, and Joie Botkin. Gregg Rossen has written a TON of Hallmark movies including The Professional Bridesmaid, The Winter Palace, The Santa Stakeout and more. In fact, his IMDB reads like he's only written Hallmark movies. Brian Sawyer resume reads almost identical to Gregg Rossen. Joie Botkin is one of our favorite Hallmark writers. Her next Hallmark film is the Tyler Hynes movie "Never Been Chris'd." Filmed in and around Vancouver, British Columbia, in Canada — more precisely in Burnaby, which is located about 15 to 20 minutes outside of Vancouver. The movie was filmed from June 12 to June 30, 2023. The rural estate used is known as Copper Stone mansion located in Langley. Other television shows like "Riverdale," "Bates Motel," and "Supernatural" have also used the property. Welcome to Season 3, Episode 30. Stop AAPI Hate doesn't just aggregate discrimination and racism. They are a consortium of organizations dedicated to doing research, surveys, and reports to collect data and share the Asian American Pacific Islander experience. In this episode, we talk about and discuss their latest report, Righting Wrongs: How Civil Rights Can Protect Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders Against Racism. They worked with NORC at the University of Chicago to do this work. We also discuss the latest annual Social Tracking of Asian Americans in the U.S. Index that is organized by The Asian American Foundation. Now in its third year, the STAATUS Index does a great job tracking trends and feelings of belonging, stereotyping, and discrimination of the AANHPI community. We highly recommended reading the full reports for both (don't worry, they're pretty short and easy to consume), but both have shorter executive summaries. We close the show by sharing what we're watching and talk about Asian American representation in the Titans as well as Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies. You know who else falls in love after just a kiss? Lesbians. This week, Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out to talk about the classic 1978 musical romcom, Grease. We really wanted to talk about this movie, especially with the recent release of the spinoff tv series, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, which we honestly both really enjoyed! Grease is, at its core, a deeply unserious campy coming out story for Danny Zuko. Over the summer he is out and free being his best gay self dancing with his guy friends and flexing his wrists to and fro. He's somehow both a himbo and a herbo all at the same time. But as soon as school starts back up, he's back to trying to be Mr. Tough Guy to reassure everyone about how manly he is. Danny falls for Sandy so fast, and then when he sees her again at school he panics like a typical useless baby gay. There is just something distinctly queer about Sandy and Danny's relationship. Danny Zuko is far from the only gay in this movie. Literally all of the Pink Ladies have a little something extra going on with one another. Marty is pretending to have boyfriends all over the world (we get it Marty, we totally believe that your penpals are totally real boyfriends), while Rizzo is faking having sex. They are always looking at each other in a deeply sexually charged manner and we know what's going on ladies, you can't fool us. Then we have the T-Birds. That's a dance troupe of gay men if we've ever seen one. Danny and Kenickie have absolutely got something going on or at least did in the past and you cannot convince us otherwise. We know one thing for sure, Grease Should've Been Gay. Follow along on Twitter: Lez Hang Out (@lezhangoutpod) and answer our Q & Gay at the end of every episode. Hello everyone! Today's podcast is another in my "It's a Love Story” series, sponsored by my book of the same name, which celebrates four years of existence this month. What in the world? We've done 21 of these episodes, and traditionally, when we come up with a quintessential love story, something a little more mainstream than Grease 2 comes to mind. I imagine the majority of you haven't even seen Grease 2, let alone knew it existed. I'd like to take this time to plead my case. Just listen to this synopsis: Stephanie Zinone is the leader of Rydell High School's Pink Ladies, a gang of girls who are counterparts of the school's group of greasers called the T-Birds. Stephanie is tired of her relationship with top T-Bird Johnny Nogerelli, so she breaks up with him and quickly catches the eye of English exchange student Michael Carrington. Hoping to win her over, Michael tries to overcome his nerdy ways while holding off the jealous Johnny. Grease 2 taught us that brainy students who know Shakespeare can also be cool riders. We learned that high school talent shows in the 60s had legitimate production value, and anyone can learn the ins and outs of reproduction through the magic of song and dance. It was fun AND educational. EPISODE NOTES: HERE is an oral history of how Grease 2 became a cult classic. Interested in the bowling scene?? Click HERE! Interested in "Girl For All Seasons?"
