She had very special little qualities and coordination was superb & enhanced as she got older.Kim was given opportunities to see what fit for her, and it came down to being good at everything in general. She tried hard all the time and had a very competitive nature, always wanting to train & improve.Denyse always believed Kim would go somewhere in sport in her life & as an athlete.Denyse believes everybody has their time and to keep embracing what happens.
This week we have an insight from Super Mum, Marie Wall.Marzy shares with the community what it was like watching Sarah’s career unfold and what it was like to be apart of it.Sarah always grew up with life lessons from her mum, and Marie instilled in Sarah to never be jealous, always encourage others and enjoy their success with them. Mary preaches to never say anything mean or hurtful, as well has having a professional drive.Mary lived by the rules by her parents and brought these down to her children. Waking up with the motto ‘everyday is a special day’. That if you want something enough, it will happen. Marie always reminded Sarah there is life outside of netball and prepared Sarah for what would happen if she didn’t get selected. In this day and age, if you have the empathy to care and be aware, your will enjoy every minute.‘When you have disappointment, just be disappointed. When you have success, be humble about it.’With the NETFIT community Marzy believes the NETFIT community are all like minded and absolutely loves watching Sarah’s dream become reality and says it's a credit from where she started to where she is now.
In today’s podcast we speak to netball star, Courtney Tairi.Courtney’s career started off in NSW at the Swifts where she then travelled over to NZ to play for the Steel, Magic & Northern Stars over her career as well as international team, Silver Ferns.Courtney started netball at the age of 7 as her older sister played. As well as netball Court also played in athletics and touch.Courtney’s move to NZ was a hard decision she had to make, however thought it would be best she represented her family and her blood whilst making the most of this opportunity.Courtney had an injury where her achilles snapped. This didn’t hold Courtney back, having previous 2 major injuries she knew she could come back from this.As an athlete it is important to challenge yourself; see how far you can push it and get. This is important as an athlete, as a player but also just as important to do in everyday life.Courtney definitely does this as now a retired athlete, hosts TV shows and MCs sports. She had no training at all heading into this and for her was a sink or swim situation.
Today we talk with the goat of netball, Laura Langman about all things netball and life after.Lauz is an incredible leader, having lead her Ferns team to win gold in the most recent World Cup. Her philosophy as a netballer she learnt from her psych coach and has the goal to bring it all to life and relay the message of the team. The point of difference in the recent season was the level of commitment, everyone earned their spot and deserved to be there.Winning a World Cup is something different. The moment of winning gold; there was no words. It isn’t just a medal, its about the journey, and watching people grow.Laura’s best piece of advice to be successful as a leader is it takes time, put yourself in a position where you have to learn and don’t be afraid of not knowing the answers. It’s ok to stuff up, you learn and grow from it and this is the great place to be.

We welcomed Amy Parmenter into our podcasting world at NETFIT. Not only is she an all-star netballer, she is also an all star human. This podcast is all about getting to know Amy and her progress from grass root to elite. Amy started netball fairly late as she grew up playing all sports. She loved netball for the fact she was playing with all the girls, and she found her escape when she was going through a tough time at the start.Listen in to why Amy loves netball; she loves giving off positive energy, the team sport environment is all about uplifting other teammates and Amy is that person that gets everyone up. To keep this energy up she likes to not worry about how hard it is for her. In hard situations she learnt to uplift everyone else.Amy is all about getting through the mental barrier that she couldn’t actually live her dream, now look at her exceling in her job. It took a lot of people around her to believe she has something special. It isn’t about talent, it is about how hard you work.2019 has been Amy’s hardest netball year. The biggest difference was her mental side. Instead of netball being a hobby that she loved, it became her job. Mentally, Amy was exhausted and crashed by the end of the year. Every part of Amy’s life made her think how this would affect her game, especially her nerves, which in turn lead to performance anxiety.Amy has a tie dye charity that she further explains in this podcast. This is where Amy found her passion project and something she could do outside of netball and enjoy. Check it out on the below link.https://www.instagram.com/thetiedyeproject_/ .
Leading a team may come from many levels. It is different for every person, it is different how they see it and how they follow it. Leadership is an ever-evolving space. Kim always “looks for the next best thing and the next best approach” and loves understanding leaders.Being a leader doesn’t mean you have to be serious all the time, your allowed to have some fun. Whether you’re on a court or in an office, leading a team is very similar in the sense that everyone has a little something different when the pressure hits.It is important as a leader to always be thinking, understanding people around you and having that awareness. It develops when your growing and becoming more comfortable with who you are. It is impossible to be the best leader, you are always learning and evolving your leadership style. You have to be able to understand what your own strengths are and know what your good at to then employ people to do things that aren’t your strength. Remember; its okay to not have it all worked out and stand up when it really matters.
In this episode Kim & Sarah update the NETFIT Community about their pits & peaks from the last 2 months. As we start the Together We’re Stronger 8 Week Challenge powered by QV, get the inside word on how it was created and what to expect from the challenge.
Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah of Brunei, as well the captain of the National Brunei Netball Team, Royal Bees has gotten herself into netball by “luck”. In week 3 of our Born to be Wild Challenge, you’ll hear from the Princess herself and her aspirations to grow netball further. Everyone fails at some point of their life; and the Princess makes it clear that failure is apart of everything, it’s apart of us, and we have to overcome it. “Learning from failures is what sets us apart from everyone else.”The most common issue in sports is injuries that put most athletes careers on hold; Princess was “distraught” after her knee injury. Mentally it got to her and she wasn’t sure whether she’d come back to netball. By her second knee injury she wanted to give up.Princess reached out to our incredible leader, Kim Green back in 2017 when she hurt her knee via an Instagram message and Kim replied. Princess says “the fact I reached out and for her to actually reply, made me push myself and made me say I am going to come back to netball” and she got that inspiration to be apart of the international team again.
In week 2 of our Born to be Wild Podcast, we hear from Melissa Hickey, Australian Rules Football all star who grew up in the country town of Mildura. Now captaining the Geelong AFLW team and continuing to grow as both a leader and as a player on and off the field.Mel talks with CEO & Founder Sarah Wall, about the opportunities that put her out of her comfort zone and how being uncomfortable inevitably isn’t as hard the second time around and that the more opportunities you can put yourself into that make you uncomfortable, the less things in the world the are uncomfortable to you.Growth mindset is a pivotal part of Mel’s career. Something she absolutely lives by is ‘the power of YET’. Mel’s best piece of advice she’s been given is finding what will get her out of bed everyday, and what will make footy fun. She hopes she can leave a legacy to young footballers by empowering them to be their best and to remind everyone fitness is important for the athlete but as well the mental health.
In this episode we talk all things comfort to courage. You will hear from our NETFIT leaders, whom are leading in their own ways and in their own lives. Brianna Tier, Bronnee Loy and Taylah Davies talk about how they took their leap of courage, interviewed CEO & Founder Sarah Wall. NETFIT Netball is all about the community and is bigger than just the individual.Being happy here and now is all that matters, whether living your dream is exactly where you are now, or where you want to be and working towards that. It’s all about not taking life too seriously and realising it is about stepping stones, you can’t just wake up and have your goal immediately in front of you, it's something you work towards. The biggest goal takes smaller goals to get there. These leaders are particular people who love to get the job done and never give up on working towards what they love. They find the great in every situation and take on that courage to know they're always going to make mistakes and that it is okay. They hope to express their leap of courage and connect to others on levels they can hopefully give courage to all of our NETFITTERS out there.
