Sorgen bereiten derzeit Engpässe in Lieferketten und drohende Versorgungsunsicherheit. Gefällt Ihnen der Podcast der Aesculap Akademie? Haben Sie Anregungen? Last week, a draft opinion was leaked which suggests that a majority of Supreme Court Justices are ready to overturn the precedents of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey—the decisions that have guaranteed a right to abortion at the federal level. The case in question is Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, in which Mississippi officials seek to close the state's last remaining abortion clinic under a law that bans performing an abortion after the fifteenth week of pregnancy—a point well before the time of fetal viability. In November, Rachel Monroe visited the Jackson abortion clinic, speaking to its director, Shannon Brewer; a physician who asked to remain anonymous, describing the risks to abortion providers; and a patient, who had driven all night from Texas, where she was not able to obtain an abortion. “Somebody else is telling me what I should do with my body, and it's not right,” she said. “It's my body. It's my decision. It's my choice. It's my life. It's my soul, if it's going to Hell.” Produced with assistance from Ezekiel Bandy and Kim Green. This segment originally aired November 19, 2021.

The Supreme Court last week heard oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, a case that could lead to the closure of Mississippi's last remaining abortion clinic. A law in the state bans most abortions after the fifteenth week of pregnancy—well before the time of fetal viability, which is the Supreme Court's standard. The case asks the justices directly to overturn the precedents of Planned Parenthood v. Casey and Roe v. Wade. At the center of it is the abortion clinic in Jackson. Rachel Monroe spoke to its director, Shannon Brewer; a physician, who described the risks to abortion providers; and a patient, who had driven all night from Texas, where she had been unable to obtain an abortion. “Somebody else is telling me what I should do with my body, and it's not right,” she said. “It's my body. Roy L Hales/ Cortes Currents - Vancouver based filmmaker Daniel J Pierce just released a film that attempts to connect the dots between clearcut logging and the mega-floods wreaking havoc on the BC Interior. He acknowledges that the climate is changing and there was an extreme event, but says this is only half of the story. “We have loaded the dice in favour of more of these such events by so badly degrading the hydrological functioning of the ecosystem.” Pierce cites scientific papers like: XuJian Joe Yu, Younes Alila, “Nonstationary frequency pairing reveals a highly sensitive peak flow regime to harvesting across a wide range of return periods”Forest Ecology and Management (2019). Kim Green & Younes Alila, “A paradigm shift in understanding and quantifying the effects of forest harvesting on floods in snow environments,” Water Resources Research (2012). Tom Bradley, “A Brief Literature Review of the Mountain Pine Beetle,” Silva Ecosystems Consultants Ltd (1993) Revised and updated by Herb Hammond and Erik Leslie (2003). He has been documenting forestry issues since 2008. Last March, Pierce released a video about the flood that destroyed part of Grand Forks in 2018.

Kim Green is a board co-chair at the Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial in Duluth . She talked with us this morning about the story of the black men wrongly accused and lynched in Duluth in 1920. On the evening of June 15, 1920, three black men, wrongly accused of raping a white woman, were abducted from the Duluth, MN, City Jail. A mob numbering between five and ten thousand people savagely beat and tortured these three young men, then hung them from a lamppost in the middle of Duluth's downtown. The grim spectacle of the mob posing with the lynched men was then captured by a photographer, and then circulated as a postcard. At a time in America when the lynching of black men was all too common, it was widely agreed to be the most heinous lynching of 1920. Until recently, this event has been largely forgotten. The names of the three men, Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson and Issac McGhie were almost forgotten as well. The nonprofit Clayton Jackson Memorial has a mission to foster racial

This week we have an insight from Super Mum, Marie Wall.Marzy shares with the community what it was like watching Sarah’s career unfold and what it was like to be apart of it.Sarah always grew up with life lessons from her mum, and Marie instilled in Sarah to never be jealous, always encourage others and enjoy their success with them. Mary preaches to never say anything mean or hurtful, as well has having a professional drive.Mary lived by the rules by her parents and brought these down to her children. Waking up with the motto ‘everyday is a special day’. That if you want something enough, it will happen. Marie always reminded Sarah there is life outside of netball and prepared Sarah for what would happen if she didn’t get selected. In this day and age, if you have the empathy to care and be aware, your will enjoy every minute.‘When you have disappointment, just be disappointed. When you have success, be humble about it.’With the NETFIT community Marzy believes the NETFIT community are all like minded and absolutely loves watching Sarah’s dream become reality and says it's a credit from where she started to where she is now.
In today’s podcast we speak to netball star, Courtney Tairi.Courtney’s career started off in NSW at the Swifts where she then travelled over to NZ to play for the Steel, Magic & Northern Stars over her career as well as international team, Silver Ferns.Courtney started netball at the age of 7 as her older sister played. As well as netball Court also played in athletics and touch.Courtney’s move to NZ was a hard decision she had to make, however thought it would be best she represented her family and her blood whilst making the most of this opportunity.Courtney had an injury where her achilles snapped. This didn’t hold Courtney back, having previous 2 major injuries she knew she could come back from this.As an athlete it is important to challenge yourself; see how far you can push it and get. This is important as an athlete, as a player but also just as important to do in everyday life.Courtney definitely does this as now a retired athlete, hosts TV shows and MCs sports. She had no training at all heading into this and for her was a sink or swim situation.
Today we talk with the goat of netball, Laura Langman about all things netball and life after.Lauz is an incredible leader, having lead her Ferns team to win gold in the most recent World Cup. Her philosophy as a netballer she learnt from her psych coach and has the goal to bring it all to life and relay the message of the team. The point of difference in the recent season was the level of commitment, everyone earned their spot and deserved to be there.Winning a World Cup is something different. The moment of winning gold; there was no words. It isn’t just a medal, its about the journey, and watching people grow.Laura’s best piece of advice to be successful as a leader is it takes time, put yourself in a position where you have to learn and don’t be afraid of not knowing the answers. It’s ok to stuff up, you learn and grow from it and this is the great place to be.

We welcomed Amy Parmenter into our podcasting world at NETFIT. Not only is she an all-star netballer, she is also an all star human. This podcast is all about getting to know Amy and her progress from grass root to elite. Amy started netball fairly late as she grew up playing all sports. She loved netball for the fact she was playing with all the girls, and she found her escape when she was going through a tough time at the start.Listen in to why Amy loves netball; she loves giving off positive energy, the team sport environment is all about uplifting other teammates and Amy is that person that gets everyone up. To keep this energy up she likes to not worry about how hard it is for her. In hard situations she learnt to uplift everyone else.Amy is all about getting through the mental barrier that she couldn’t actually live her dream, now look at her exceling in her job. It took a lot of people around her to believe she has something special. It isn’t about talent, it is about how hard you work.2019 has been Amy’s hardest netball year. The biggest difference was her mental side. Instead of netball being a hobby that she loved, it became her job. Mentally, Amy was exhausted and crashed by the end of the year. Every part of Amy’s life made her think how this would affect her game, especially her nerves, which in turn lead to performance anxiety.Amy has a tie dye charity that she further explains in this podcast. This is where Amy found her passion project and something she could do outside of netball and enjoy. Check it out on the below link.https://www.instagram.com/thetiedyeproject_/ .
Leading a team may come from many levels. It is different for every person, it is different how they see it and how they follow it. Leadership is an ever-evolving space. Kim always “looks for the next best thing and the next best approach” and loves understanding leaders.Being a leader doesn’t mean you have to be serious all the time, your allowed to have some fun. Whether you’re on a court or in an office, leading a team is very similar in the sense that everyone has a little something different when the pressure hits.It is important as a leader to always be thinking, understanding people around you and having that awareness. It develops when your growing and becoming more comfortable with who you are. It is impossible to be the best leader, you are always learning and evolving your leadership style. You have to be able to understand what your own strengths are and know what your good at to then employ people to do things that aren’t your strength. Remember; its okay to not have it all worked out and stand up when it really matters.

Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah of Brunei, as well the captain of the National Brunei Netball Team, Royal Bees has gotten herself into netball by “luck”. In week 3 of our Born to be Wild Challenge, you’ll hear from the Princess herself and her aspirations to grow netball further. Everyone fails at some point of their life; and the Princess makes it clear that failure is apart of everything, it’s apart of us, and we have to overcome it. “Learning from failures is what sets us apart from everyone else.”The most common issue in sports is injuries that put most athletes careers on hold; Princess was “distraught” after her knee injury. Mentally it got to her and she wasn’t sure whether she’d come back to netball. By her second knee injury she wanted to give up.Princess reached out to our incredible leader, Kim Green back in 2017 when she hurt her knee via an Instagram message and Kim replied. Princess says “the fact I reached out and for her to actually reply, made me push myself and made me say I am going to come back to netball” and she got that inspiration to be apart of the international team again.

In this episode we talk all things comfort to courage. You will hear from our NETFIT leaders, whom are leading in their own ways and in their own lives. Brianna Tier, Bronnee Loy and Taylah Davies talk about how they took their leap of courage, interviewed CEO & Founder Sarah Wall. NETFIT Netball is all about the community and is bigger than just the individual.Being happy here and now is all that matters, whether living your dream is exactly where you are now, or where you want to be and working towards that. It’s all about not taking life too seriously and realising it is about stepping stones, you can’t just wake up and have your goal immediately in front of you, it's something you work towards. The biggest goal takes smaller goals to get there. These leaders are particular people who love to get the job done and never give up on working towards what they love. They find the great in every situation and take on that courage to know they're always going to make mistakes and that it is okay. They hope to express their leap of courage and connect to others on levels they can hopefully give courage to all of our NETFITTERS out there.

Subscribe to Selling With Social Apple Podcasts | Stitcher | Google Play These days, nobody starts their sales career with the intention of staying with one company for over 20 years, but Kim Green-Kerr has done exactly that. She is Senior Vice-President at Sprint Business Solutions, a post she’s attained by climbing her way up the Sprint corporate ladder. I asked her to be my guest on this episode of #SellingWithSocial because I knew she’d have great insight into how to build a successful sales career through hard work, relationship building, and dedication. But I also believed she’d be able to give advice about how to progress into the executive level of any company. She didn’t disappoint. Kim shares varied insights from her experience - from advice specifically for women and minorities in the modern sales force, to how to manage and lead the growing number of millennial sales professionals on the scene today. Don’t miss this great conversation. The Basis of a Successful Sales Career: Prove You Can Get The Job Done When I asked Kim what she recommends to women in the sales industry who are looking to advance to in their companies, she gave great advice - but it doesn't only apply to women. She said that sales success beyond closing deals depends on a few elementary things. Prove you can get the job done Be visible through your availability to take on projects outside of what's normal Find a sponsor, someone who advocates on your behalf when you are not there Obviously, a list like that doesn’t provide nearly enough insight into what she shared. I suggest you take the time to listen to this episode and find out how you can put her strategies to work in order to advance your own sales career. If You Want to Climb Into The Ranks of Sales Leadership, Be Visible A point Kim shared concerning the climb to sales leadership is one that is at the top of my list as well. Establish relationships with people higher up in the organization who can serve as your sponsor. It sounds official, but it’s not official at all. It’s a relationship that builds over time as you prove yourself to those who are in leadership positions within the organization. As they become confident about your character and skills, they may begin to advocate for you even when you're not around. THAT is a sponsor. What are ways you can establish those kinds of relationships? On this episode, Kim shares great advice about developing sponsor relationships, including the need to impress leaders with what you produce in your current responsibilities, why it's advantageous to become a subject-matter expert in areas where the company has need, and the significance of volunteering to explore and solve obvious problems within the organization. Kim’s insights will provide you new vision for the trajectory of your sales career. Don’t Wait! Begin The Journey to Become a Trusted Advisor to Customers Whether you’re hoping to climb the leadership ladder or you are eager to become the top salesperson in your company, you need to master this piece of advice: Become a trusted advisor to prospects and customers. A consultative approach, where you serve clients much like a physician would his/her patients establishes you in a position of credibility and authority that customers naturally look to in order to get their questions answered and problems solved. But how do you establish that kind of authority? On this episode, Kim explains how it happens and provides advice about how get moving in that direction. The Sales Approach That Gave Sprint Its First Profitable Quarter in 3 Years In August of 2017, Sprint surprised stockholders with very welcome news - its first profitable quarter in three years. It was the culmination of a great deal of hard work and was the company’s best financial performance in more than a decade. There were many things that contributed to this outcome - cost-cutting and improvements to its network were certainly part of the formula - but it also happened because of a renewed focus on its small, medium and enterprise business sectors. That’s the area of Sprint’s business that Kim is directly responsible for and that she has cultivated within the company for a very long time. She says their trajectory includes the development of a selling methodology, investments in their people through training and tools, and a new focus on social selling to help influence buyers along their buyer's journey. Kim goes into more details about the Sprint sales approach and makes recommendations based on her experience, on this episode. How Sales Leaders Can Best Utilize The Growing Millennial Sales Force It’s estimated that by 2020, Millennials will make up 46% of the workforce, and many of those will naturally become involved in sales. And though there has been a lot of complaining and negative characterizations made about this amazing group of people, they are the shape of things to come, so I think we’d better make the most of it. I asked Kim what she has experienced in working with Millennials and how she recommends sales leaders manage these energetic young people who are seeking to build successful sales careers. She said we first need to understand the experience of Millennials - they grew up with technology so they want to be able to do their job with the right technological tools in hand. She also pointed out that because they are so adept at social media, they are often taking initiative in their job search to check out potential employers, managers, or supervisors. NSW Breakers cricketer - and complete life overachiever - Trent Copeland gets into the nitty gritty of cricket - the absolute mental toughness a player needs; his career path from country cricketer to debuting for Australia at the SCG; the grand scale of success that exists in the game; the current playing crop and state of Aussie cricket; and why he had to stop wearing the gloves. He talks about Phillip Hughes’s death and how it’s affected him and other players as a person and a player and how their instincts are now more welfare-first. GAME CHANGERS The Unsung Heroines of Sports History By MOLLY SCHIOT Simon & Schuster | Hardcover | October 18, 2016 | Simone Biles. Serena Williams. Katie Ledecky. Today, we know these women, their names, and their accomplishments, as well as the many others who have left their mark on the sports world in recent years. But what about the women who came before them, the trailblazers who made it possible for these champions to get out on the field and play? In GAME CHANGERS: The Unsung Heroines of Sports History (Simon & Schuster; October 18, 2016; $25), Molly Schiot celebrates the stories of those forgotten female athletes and shares rarely-before-seen photos. Director and artist Molly Schiot started documenting these lost stories after she pitched an idea for a short film to a major sports network about the Wake-Robin Golf Club, a group of African-American women who fought for their right to play golf in the 1930s (pictured at right). The film didn’t get made, but Schiot continued to spend time researching at the LA84 archive. She soon found dozens more undiscovered female athletes from the pre-Title IX era, and knew she had to highlight their achievements. She created the Instagram account @theunsungheroines and shared a photo each day of female athletes who made significant strides (literally and figuratively) in some of the most popular games in the world. Her account gained an enthusiastic following, and the result is GAME CHANGERS, a beautifully illustrated collection that gives these “founding mothers” the attention and recognition they deserve. The book also features new and powerful conversations about women and sports between some of today’s heroines—including former US Women’s National Soccer Team captain Abby Wambach, professional skateboarder Lacey Baker, and SportsCenter anchor Cari Champion—and the pioneers who motivated them to push forward. This empowering and unforgettable book is the perfect keepsake for mothers, daughters, fans, feminists, and the champions of tomorrow. * Select photos featured in the book can be available for publicity use upon request * A sample of the many remarkable women Molly Schiot features in GAME CHANGERS When talented nine-year old Kim Green was refused the right to join Little League baseball in her hometown of Newark, Delaware because she was a girl, her mom Sylvia Green decided to take matters into her own hands. Along with other activists, Sylvia successfully sued the Little League and formed a massively popular all-girls team called “the Angels” in protest. Girls were finally permitted to try out for Little League baseball in 1974 and in that first year alone, over 30,000 young women participated. Sheryl Swoopes was the first woman to be signed by the WNBA and was the inspiration for the Nike Air Swoopes, the first signature basketball shoe named after a woman. For years before, it had been nearly impossible for female basketball players to find sneakers that weren’t specifically designed for men. Swoopes shoes soon became so popular that men looked for larger sizes so they could wear them too. Christy Martin is one of the most successful and prominent female boxers in the United States. She was the first female boxer to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated and had a seven year winning streak in the ring. After being shot by her then-husband and trainer Jim Martin, she became an advocate for victims of domestic abuse. Earlene Brown won numerous national championships and Olympic medals for her achievements in track and field. She was the first woman to break the 50-foot barrier in shot put. Brown says that when she was young, she “was ashamed of her size. I never thought that something of which I was ashamed… could make me feel proud. But I feel proud now.” When NASCAR driver Janet Guthrie qualified for both the Indy 500 and the Daytona 500, she was the first woman to race in either competition. She faced constant humiliation from onlookers and other racers, who chanted insults like, “no tits in the pit!” when she was on the course. Despite her talent and multiple wins, Janet was eventually forced to retire after not receiving sponsorship in a widely male-dominated sport. Gertrude Earle was an American Olympic swimmer who swam the English Channel in fourteen hours and thirty-four minutes on August 26, 1926. Her swim broke the world record time by two hours and she became a national celebrity, starring in a short film about her life and even joining a vaudeville act. Eventually, she withdrew from the public eye and retired to teach swimming at a school for the deaf.
