What was the Stamp Act? What was the so-called justification for it? What was the reaction from the Americans? To help us tackle this important event that helped usher in a growing anti-monarchy sentiment that culminated in the American Revolution, we are delighted to welcome Scot Faulkner as our special guest today. Scot Faulkner is longtime friend of Constituting America and served as the first-ever Chief Administrative Officer for the U.S. House of Representatives and is Vice President of Shepherd University's George Washington Institute of Living Ethics.

Shepherdstown, West Virginia, may be small, but its history runs deep — and dark. Founded in 1762 along the Potomac River, it's one of the oldest towns in the state. On the surface, it's full of charm — brick sidewalks, historic homes, and the quiet hum of university life. But behind the beauty lies centuries of turmoil. Just three miles away, the Battle of Antietam became one of the bloodiest days in American history. When it ended, the wounded poured in by the thousands, turning every home, church, and business into a field hospital. Locals say the town was never the same — it seems that the ground itself remembers. Ghostly figures are seen near the riverbanks, whispers echo from the churchyards, and even Shepherd University has its share of unexplained encounters. Janet Hughes, owner of Shepherdstown Mystery Walks, knows these stories better than anyone. Through her tours, she reveals the layers of tragedy, resilience, and lingering energy that make Shepherdstown one of the most haunted towns in West Virginia. Can you be a progressive representing a legislative district that is deeply conservative? In politics, it is often the belief that it's not possible. But there are moderates and conservatives who've represented more liberal districts (and states even!).This is a question that my friend and guest, Sammi Brown, challenged when she ran for office as an unabashed young progressive woman of color in a West Virginia legislative district that had gone double digits for Trump in 2016.Raised in a Union household Sammi would work multiple jobs to pay her way through college and grad school (and would earn both her Bachelors and MBA from Shepherd University). A career in media, would eventually lead her into organizing on behalf of her state's working families, advocate for the Healthcare of our population's most vulnerable, and train movement leaders across the country to carry on this work in their respective spaces.I had the privilege to work with Sammi on this race. As a young progressive woman of color in West Virginia, she was viewed as an “underdog” from the start, she would proceed to knock over 3000 doors, earn the endorsement of many progressive organizations and ultimately FLIP the 65th District in the West Virgina House of Delegates in 2018. As a result, she is credited with the State's largest “comeback” in a single cycle: covering a 30 point spread. She talks about her journey to political service to the community in which she was raised, what it looks like to embrace your voice as an elected official, especially when it's in the best interests of your constituents, how she dealt with sexism and racism in political leadership, and more. Vegas has in season odds right now with the Jets at 7.5 wins for the season. So they would only need 5 more wins the rest of the way to surpass that. Are the Jets better than the Giants right now? Boomer is calling the Jets over the Giants a ‘lock'. We also talked about the Bears QB for this week, Tyson Bagent. He went to Shepherd University which none of us ever heard of, including Eddie. Jerry is here for an update and starts with Rashaad Jennings missing an easy letter in Wheel of Fortune. The Fox station in Phoenix couldn't find a single Diamondbacks fan in Philadelphia. There were a lot of fights at the Cowboys/Chargers game and Boomer wants to know how we can stop that. In the final segment of the hour, we had a great time at our B&G live show meeting with more ideas for Schwartzy The Snowman.
Hour 1 Gio was so excited about Max Scherzer's performance last night and summed it up by saying, ‘that guy sucks'. Gio made good money last night betting against him. With all of the bad going on in NY sports lately, this was an awesome sports night. Julius Randle said the Knicks must show urgency now. Gio said he always collapses in a big spot. We talked about the upcoming Knicks season. Boomer feels like the pre-season has been going on forever. Jerry is here for his first update and starts with Trevor Lawrence talking about tonight's game against the Saints and whether he'll play or not. Brian Daboll said Daniel Jones wants to play but they will have to wait for the doctor's evaluation. Mike McDaniel was asked if anyone could do what Tua is doing with this team. Deshaun Watson was asked when he'll be back and he's not sure. Scherzer gave up 5 runs last night to the enjoyment of Mets fans everywhere. Chris Russo talked about taking too many gummies on the plane back from the Super Bowl. In the final segment of the hour, what is the Mets plan for the offseason now that they brought David Stearns in? What are they going to do with Pete Alonso? Travis Kelce had to buy a new house for more privacy now that he's dating the most popular woman on the planet. Hour 2 Boomer got some more info on Aaron Rodgers and achilles injuries. He seems to be stretching that tendon before it's fully healed, which is not recommended. It could be re-injured again. He is risking his achilles never getting back to normal if he keeps pushing it like he is. Bottom line is he is not playing again this year, even though he and Rob Saleh are acting like it could happen. Manifestation is very real to Aaron Rodgers, but reality is he cannot play football anytime soon. Jerry is here for an update but first we talked about manifesting things and how it's not possible. Justin Pugh got himself a 1-year deal with the Giants and somehow tied Jerry Seinfeld into it. The Astros got to Max Scherzer in the second inning and Gio made money by betting against him. The Las Vegas Aces won the WNBA Championship and the afternoon show was there. In the final segment of the hour, Gio looks at the current odds for teams to win the Super Bowl. We also talked about the rumored story that Caleb Williams wants part ownership of the team that drafts him. Hour 3 Vegas has in season odds right now with the Jets at 7.5 wins for the season. In the final segment of the hour, we had a great time at our B&G live show meeting with more ideas for Schwartzy The Snowman. Hour 4 We talked about the Vikings and Kirk Cousins parting ways after this season. Boomer said just wait until Justin Jefferson has a different quarterback firing the ball over his head. We talked about MVP odds as it sits right now in the NFL. Jerry is here for his final update of the morning and we talked about all of the backup QBs that will be playing this week. Daniel Jones said he's close to coming back but doesn't know if he'll be good to go yet for this week. Davante Adams doesn't seem to want to be on the Raiders anymore. Deshaun Watson isn't sure when he'll play again. Patrick Mahomes wants to become part owner of an NFL team when he's done playing. Max Scherzer had a bad night on the mound, again. The Astros beat the Rangers. The NBA season is getting underway next week. The Moment of The Day involves Eddie, yarn events and shaving sheep. In the final segment of the show, there is not an obvious knockout pool team. Maybe Buffalo going to New England, but are you really confident in that? Daniel Jones normally plays well against Washington so they better start stacking W's. Who will be the biggest name traded at the deadline? Davante Adams most likely. The afternoon show was in the suite last night at Barclays Center for the WNBA finals. What team could Davante Adams wind up with? Boomer thinks the Lions and that could be a real game changer. Gio said what about the Cowboys?
This week Taylor Doll is joined by Martinsburg High School Coach David Walker and former Shepherd University offensive coordinator Tye Hiatt to chat about the journey of backup quarterback Tyson Bagent. From 0 star mildly recruited to D2 football at Shepherd, to 1 of 15 QB's invited to the NFL combine followed by going undrafted but eventually signed by the Chicago Bears and now potentially making his debut this weekend. The journey of Tyson Bagent is one of a kind. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
