What a year! After finishing up 2019 with a 9 year anniversary mix, I was excited for 2020, and the opportunity to expant the podcast into other areas and mediums such as some opportunities to teach /tutorial videos, adding Patreon so that I and others could provide our listeners with exclusive content like original tracks and unreleased mixes, tshirts and other swag, etc. Well, then 2020 happened, and midway through the year, I decided that we were not even going to participate in that mess. SO - here we are in 2021 and what I wanted to do with start us out with a mix that is all about the good things - the things life is about - having LOVE in your heart, HOPE in your soul, PEACE in your mind and of course - MUSIC in yo' BODY! All about the love on this one guys, I truly hope you can feel the love I Am trying to convey to each and every person that ends up coming across this mix and listening to it - whenever and however that may be - that we can move forward together and still have so many beautiful opportunities to make a difference in this world. I hope you enjoy! HOUS

Part-time pranksters. Full-time music partners. Matt Mason and Rick Nielsen are Corduroy Mavericks. **Before you read more about these two in their bio (sourced from www.corduroymavericks.com) - I wanted to let you know that these two have really been such an inspiration for me & for that matter my running mate in Wrex Ed - Mike Geez. I can't even start to tell you how much we have learned from these guys, lucky enough as we were to be based in Kentucky and within a small enough crowd to quickly find like-minded souls. I will say this to sum it all up : Neither one of these guys had to help us or point us in the right direction to help ourselves - but they did without us even asking (at first! Ha!) Both Rick and Matt would do anything they possibly could for us knowing that there wasn't anything in it for them. That is how you know you found role models, mentors and truly great friends. While Matt sticks to his home base, Rick (and formerly Rick's Shennanigans, almost as legendary as the duo itself) takes on the mantle of travel and DJ sets, and I am so excited to deliver from him - this exclusive mix for the Sunday Slackin' Podcast! Check out more from Cmavs and follow them at these links below: Twitter: https://twitter.com/CordMavericks InstaGram: www.instagram.com/cordmavericks?igshid=1gkehwigf65zj Soundcloud: www.soundcloud.com/corduroy-mavericks Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/Corduroy-Mavericks-125592757456781/ *- Unkle Funk continued.......(www.corduroymavericks.com) Weird name but fitting for the two creative forces. Is there a story behind CMavs? Yes, one that’s scribbled in sharpie and etched in random FB posts. It’s not about some type of fabric outlaw or rebellious outfit they once wore (although they both agree corduroy is the most musical of all the fabrics…think about it). It’s just a name that just sounds cool. A name that rolls off the tongue with a rhythmic cadence. A name that is memorable…just like their music. It all started with a chance meeting in 2005…in Kentucky of all places…land of bourbon and horses and about as out of the way in terms of house music as you can get. But that meeting sparked a creative duo that has been a part of house music for more than a decade. A duo that has endured the shifting of the musical landscape. Having donned tracks for some of the most seminal labels in the industry from Drop Music, Dufflebag, Tango, Hardkiss, Soul Fuel, Delecto, Sugar Shack, Flapjack, Odour, Coyote Cuts and more. Hustling out more that 300 tracks over the course of their careers. Multiple top 10 chart toppers and several number one hits have created a demand for them to play across the globe. Today you can find Matt still living large in Lexington Kentucky and Rick enjoying the sunshine in South Florida. Still working together. Still best of friends.
This week an exclusive mix from one of the hardest working and best people you can find - Dan - or as most people call him: "Scooby" Scoobyblue (Xero Tribe - LAMP) Scooby bought his first set of turntables in 1999 & in 2000 he started Code Blue Entertainment. Code Blue cut its teeth with a series of house parties in Saint Louis. The success of these led to several underground party and night club appearances. In 2003 he toured with Pomeroy for a short time and worked on several events with Phat Buddah Productions, including opening for rapper Murphy Lee. Also in 2003 the "Boogie Cruise" was born and in 2006 Jen HA & DJC joined the crew and Escape in the Beats was born. With his new found alliance, he moved to Chicago in 2008 & started 2501 Productions with the Escape crew. While there Scooby worked his way into a weekly at Beckett's Public House mixing house, soul, & breaks with funk, rock, & crowd favorites. His contract ended in 2010 and he moved back to Saint Louis to join forces with Midwest Massive & Blindfire Entertainment. In 2012 Scooby was honored to join forces with STL’s legendary Boogie Knights crew. This gave him the opportunity to give back to the crew that started his love of the scene, which continues to grow. At the end of 2014 Scooby joined a small group concerned with providing quality talent and productions for Apocalyptic events, known as Xero Tribe. With new found support Scooby continues to work and grow as a DJ and producer. Come on out on the dance floor and see how ScoobyBlue shares his love of music with any & everyone! A very special guest this week , with a brand new slammin' mix - one of my favorite producers on the planet, and one of the best souls you will encounter - Dominic' AKA Stranger Danger has been at it since the early 1990's, and I am so excited to present this mix to you! Take a look at his other mixes and music at his soundcloud page here: www.soundcloud.com/sdanger Dominic, AKA Stranger Danger, has been a part of the underground music scene since 1992. Starting out as a house dancer, to promoter -to DJ - and now - producer.....Danger has followed a natural progression for those who love House Music. Having a grandfather who was a Baptist preacher and a dad in a funk band, Danger's love for music started early in life. Since his first rave in the early 90's, Danger soaked up the eclectic diversity in the Bay Area and grew to love and appreciate House Music for its energy and community, as well as its soulful healing and message I can't thank Dominic enough for being a part of the Sunday Slackin' Podcast - if you have not heard him throw down before, get ready - this one thumps! Enjoy!

This week on the Sunday Slackin' Podcast , a special delivery from your host, Unkle Funk. This is a mix I recorded in 2008 , at a private event in Louisville KY. This week on the Sunday Slackin' Podcast a special edition from Morris Koad (Tim Helfrich) , resident DJ of the legendary Pink Door in Louisville KY. As a friend and mentor, I could not be more excited to present this special edition 2 hour mix! In the mid 2000s, there was a void in the underground dance scene in our beloved city. Fortunately Brian and Heather Werle had a vision to fill that void. Nestled in the heart of Douglass Loop, The Pink Door was a haven for all the misfits, rejects, freaks, queer, straight, loved, and loathed. The flagship dance night, properly branded as "MEDIUM", was notorious for debauchery and underground dance music. This mix was recorded live @ The Pink Door 10 years ago this very weekend. The mix captures about 2 hours of a very trippy night. It was a night that 4am just wasn't good enough. The doors were locked and dozens of lucky patrons danced, sweated, and indulged in one of the most infamous nights in Louisville club history until the sun came up. Check out more music from Tim on Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/morriskoad Enjoy!

When you find that connection within a solid dance floor groove, then you've found the essence of the Rescue sound." And that's the sound that DJ and Producer Rescue has been concocting and perfecting for the last two decades - a sound that has become a staple throughout the current global house music scene. His music has become a staple throughout the DJ sets of heavyweights such as Miguel Migs, Mark Farina, DJ Dan, DJ Mes, Sonny Fodera, Derrick Carter, Sam Divine, and many other top players in today's house music movement. Rescue's signature blend of funk and soul combined with heavy dancefloor-driven beats has been consistently pushing the envelope within the house community, and the world has taken notice. With over 150 hit releases on some of the industries top labels such as Guesthouse, In Stereo, Lingo, Tango, Beatdown, Jungle Funk, and many more, his beats have proven to be a highly sought-after and deadly dance floor combination. His studio efforts have consistently topped the charts on Traxsource and Beatport, with over a dozen number one hits and countless top ten positions, quickly propelling him into the upper ranks of the most in-demand artists. As a DJ, his signature sets showcase a highly technical prowess, with smooth 3-deck layering and top-notch music programming that truly brings a special vibe to the dance floor. A brand new mix from the heart of house in Chicago , Paul Johnson delivers episode 69 of the Sunday Slackin' Podcast! There is reason for him to be named as the very first artist in the track "Teachers" by Daft Punk. Paul Johnson was born and raised on the south side of Chicago, the birthplace of house music where he started DJing in the mid-80s and started producing in 1990. He produced and released over 445 E.P’s for some of the most consistent labels like Dance Mania, Cajual, Relief, Dusttraxx, Peacefrog and Moody Recordings which sold over 3.5 million copies of his 1999’s hit record ‘Get Get Down’ worldwide. His remix work and collaborations with Destiny's Child, Jon B, Steve "Silk" Hurley, DJ Skip, Ce Ce Peniston, Daft Punk, DJ Sneak, K-Alexi, Stacy Kidd, Joey Beltram, Green Velvet, Armando and Ron Trent made its way into all the big jocks boxes and remain there to this day. Johnson has released many singles which have made it to many countries top 50 billboard's and higher. "He's a hit making machine" say's Yellow Records CEO Bob Sinclar and he's shown so many artists the way. Much respect to everything that Paul Johnson has done for house music. When Paul Johnson plays you receive electrifying performances and an unwavering commitment to excellence crediting him the respect of both fans and peers alike. This Sunday, Very Special Guest DJ Jung. With well over a decade of experience behind the decks in such locales as Chicago, Miami, Nashville, Detroit, Portland, Lexington, and St. Louis just to name a few. DJ Jung began his love affair with the beat at a very young age “I always find that when I’m playing for a crowd, whether it’s 10, 100, or 1000, I always spot the one in the crowd that needs me the most, I can just tell they need the boost. I’ll focus my energy to lift them, make them forget their worries and just dance. Nothing is more gratifying for me as a DJ than being able to make that connection, even if it’s just one. The energy exchange between DJ and dance floor is unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced. For me true happiness is moving a crowd that wants to be moved, a crowd that wants a true experience.”

“The last decade has seen the rise and fall of many faces in the electronic music scene. The last ten years for Jesse James, however, has been nothing but a steady rise to the top.” – Well said – because if you look back – Jesse started DJ’ing in 2000, well over a decade ago – and in 2005 started Nightsneak with his cousin James, and from there, things took off in a big way. Jesse is one of the most in-demand DJ’s in the midwest, and somehow, manages to not only play for crowds all over the place every weekend, but also find time to hit the studio – and has consistently been crafting a signature sound, exploring the darker side of quirky Techno, with smooth heavy bass lines and intricate synths.
Stodd - Blindfire Entertainment / Digital Glitch "Starting out as just a Psytrance DJ primarily, Stodd has been flooding the midwest with hard-banging original sounds from virtually all genres of EDM as of late. While showcasing his uniform ability to lay down seamlessly intricate mixes, he has also held a strong reputation for darker, psy-influenced music with groovy basslines & a stand alone signature sound. 2011 can be easily regarded as his "break-out" year, receiving invites to play @ Winter Warpdrive VI, Psychotronic 5, Interfuse, Apogaea, Underground Sound 7, Homegrown, Booty Halloween 8, & many others." "In addition to performing, Stodd also supports the entire STL scene in every way possible by supplying equipment & gear, stage set-up/break down, or even clean-up & promotions. With a passion for electronic music tough to match, he truly lives for this & seizes every opportunity to further himself through music. Stodd is rapidly becoming more & more recognized as a devoted artist who wil
