Sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThe St. Lunatics are a hip-hop group hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, that gained prominence in the early 2000s. They are best known for their association with the multi-platinum rapper Nelly, who was a founding member of the group. Comprising of Nelly, Ali, Murphy Lee, Kyjuan, and City Spud, the St. Lunatics showcased a unique and energetic style that represented the spirit of their hometown. The group's journey began in the late 1990s when they started performing together, captivating local audiences with their distinctive blend of Midwestern rap and Southern influences. Their chemistry and camaraderie were evident, as they effortlessly complemented each other's styles, creating a sound that resonated with fans and critics alike. In 2000, the St. Lunatics released their debut album, "Free City," which showcased their raw talent and garnered significant attention. The album featured chart-topping hits like "Midwest Swing" and "Batter Up," further solidifying their place in the hip-hop scene. Additionally, Nelly's solo success with his album "Country Grammar" further boosted the group's recognition, leading to widespread acclaim for their Midwest hip-hop movement. However, despite the initial success, the St. Lunatics faced challenges that hindered their collective growth. City Spud's incarceration for an unfortunate incident caused a setback for the group, and they struggled to maintain their momentum. Despite these setbacks, they continued to collaborate and contribute to Nelly's subsequent projects.Over the years, the members pursued their individual careers, with Nelly achieving immense commercial success as a solo artist, earning numerous awards and accolades. Murphy Lee and Ali also released solo albums that garnered moderate success. Nonetheless, the St. Lunatics remained a symbol of St. Louis' vibrant hip-hop culture and served as an influential force for aspiring artists in the region. In conclusion, the St. Lunatics left an indelible mark on the hip-hop scene, especially for their contribution to the Midwest hip-hop movement. Their unique style, combined with the success of Nelly's solo career, solidified their place in music history. While the group may not have reached the same heights collectively, their impact on the culture and the inspiration they provided to fellow St. Louis artists cannot be overlooked. The St. Lunatics will always be remembered as one of the pioneering groups that put St. Louis on the hip-hop map.Country Grammar https://amzn.to/44zBOJTFree City https://amzn.to/44KQtSsMoney Talks https://amzn.to/3Y2dG06T-shirt https://amzn.to/3Yg02qtNellyville https://amzn.to/44Q9UJmChingy https://righthurr.com/Chingy https://www.instagram.com/chingyJackpot https://amzn.to/3BaBMfyRight Thurr https://amzn.to/3zpH1XuHoodstar https://amzn.to/3IVQ1XGRight Thurr Live Session https://amzn.to/3OGIltLHolidae Inn https://amzn.to/3czqasuThe Barn https://linktr.ee/TheBarnPodTwitter: @TheBarnPodcastInstagram: @t.h.e.b.a.r.nAll equipment used in the making of this video:Shure Sm7b https://amzn.to/3uAMzMAShure Sm58 https://amzn.to/3xlAj4pBoom Arm Desktop Mic Stand https://amzn.to/3rlZtvGMixcast 4 Audio Mixer https://amzn.to/3uD3KgzOneOdio Headphones https://amzn.to/3rK9cwnPig Hog Headphone Extension https://amzn.to/3JxvwiNNow broadcasting live from the Leadbelt in Southeast Missouri, The Barn, in conjunction with The Wellness Investors, brings you such entertainment as The Chris Sabo Power Hour, Vulgar Display of Podcast, Wack's World, Struggle City, Girl Dad, Knuckleball Prime Time, Arch City Music Podcast, and Birds & Swords. Murphy Lee The School Boy from the HipHop group St. Lunatics, has always been the top pick out of most girlfriend circles (lets argue). The man has bars and is hella (STL word) charming. It was an honor for SCC Podcast to be invited to the press junket for Murph Derry's debut independent (he paid all the invoices) album 2nd Chance Around. Of course Tee and Nickey J take the interview to a salon vibe and get Mr. Murph Derrty's likes and dislikes. There is plenty of name dropping huurr too. Shout out to University City, MO and the 3.1.4. BONUS in honor of 2nd Chance Around and Nickey J's BDAY we run it back with 10 Things Nickey J Hates that People Love. Hello Atlanta. After you listen to this episode go download Murph Derrty's 2nd Chance Around. Please and Thanks.

Kyjuan is a legend and personal hero of the podcast.BUY THE NEW ALBUM HERE!INTRO - 93 Riverfront FlowOUTRO - 2nd Time Around
Rapper Ali redefined bougie in his rap song “Boughetto (ft. Murphy Lee).” Both Jarrett and Tre'vell mentioned Patrisse Cullors, who stepped down as executive director of Black Lives Matter in May 2021. If you're looking for more clarification, Cullors is discussed in episodes Colorism: White Supremacy's Stank Ass Grandchild (ft. Jarrett Lucas) and Colorism Part 2 (ft. Portia Bartley). Also, check out Jarrett's Instagram account recommendation, everyniggadeserves. Black History is Happening Every Day!Before there was Michelle Obama, there were these amazing patron saints of bougie: Diahann Carroll as Dominique Deveraux in “Dynasty,” Jasmine Guy as Whitley Gilbert in “A Different World,” Kim Fields as Regine Hunter in “Living Single,” Tatyana Ali and Karyn Parsons as Ashley and Hilary Banks in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Jill Marie Jones as Toni Childs in “Girlfriends,” and Christopher B. Duncan as Braxton P. Hartnabrig in “The Jamie Foxx Show.” DIS/Honorable Mentions HM: Ghetto gastro, a collective of BIPOC chefs from the Bronx, have designed an amazing culinary collection titled CRUXGG for Target. HM: Check out the Black woman artist @snoopdoggydom on Instagram. Her work is it! HM: Aida Rodriguez released her first comedy special on HBO Max titled, “Aida Rodriguez: Fighting Words.” HM: On Nov. 12 at 8 p.m., Oxygen is premiering “Murdered and Missing in Montana,” which highlights the disappearance of three Indigenous girls. HM: Netflix's “The Harder They Fall,” directed by Jeymes Samuel, AKA The Bullitts, will have you leaning closer to your TV. HM: For Harriet published Kimberly Foster's YouTube video “Where Dave Chappelle Meets Donald Trump,” which parallels Chappelle's language to Trump's rhetoric, connecting the dots for people still struggling with why Chappelle is problematic. Fat Nasty and Limitless Rich dive in about the music industry and the changes made. From music back then to now and the process of getting in the door.
Michelle and Ceruti are pumped to chat with a guy whose music they both grew up listening to: Rapper Murphy Lee. They get into his career coming out of St. Louis, his favorite collaborations, what he thinks of hip hop now, and his new album "2nd Time Around." Plus they get into Michelle's trip to a Packers game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Ceruti nearly ruining his vacation before it started and close it out with some new A+ Content.

Phil and Jake witness the triumphant return of Efrem Schulz-- frontman for Death By Stereo, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Manic Hispanic-- to rank marijuana, Band-Aids as fashion, and Yosemite Sam Mudflaps on the List of Every Damn Thing.Find Efrem on Twitter (@Efbystereo) and Instagram (@efbystereo). He's been real busy with his bands lately.; here's a check-out list: Check out the Voodoo Glow Skulls new album “Livin' the Apocalypse” and if you're in Southern California get tickets to their October 22nd show (unless you're reading this in the future). Check out Manic Hispanic's new album “Back In Brown” and get tickets to see them play with FEAR on October 29th (again, it helps if you're in SoCal and not in the future). And of course, check out Death By Stereo in general. If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).SHOW NOTES: “Weird A.I.” Yankovich is an invention of Beth, Phil's wife. He's an artificial intelligence that does song parodies. We get into a lot of hologram talk. Here's a write-up of Jenni Rivera's hologram's appearance at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. And here's some info on the upcoming ABBA hologram show. The Tehachapi Loop is popular with railfans like Jake. We discuss fake train tunnels, and hate it when this happens. Here's the episode of Efrem's podcast Into the Weeds featuring Tommy Chong. “Barroom Buddies” by Clint Eastwood & Merle Haggard is a real thing! “Drinkenstein” is a song written by Dolly Parton (the current #1 on the List of Everything) & sung by Sylvester Stallone. It's from the movie Rhinestone which they starred in. We think we've gotten this wrong before in the past but for the record, Murphy Lee is not the guy who wears the Phantom of the Opera mask in the St. Lunatics. Murphy Lee and Kyjuan are the only members of the St Lunatics anyone can remember, and neither are the ones who wear the mask. That's Slo Down. He was a silent hypeman who ended up in a feud with Nelly because he felt he wasn't being paid properly. Here's YouTuber Linzor explaining her Band-Aid fashion. Hatless Slash is actually pretty common. Efrem surely meant to say John Schnieder when he was talking about John Davidson. In looking for a list of the most iconic mudflaps we learned that people seem to go with unadorned mudflaps nowadays. The “Skeleton Dance” cartoon is a big source of trauma for Phil's son every Halloween and has been since he was a toddler. He prefers the Donald Duck cartoon "trick or treat". Cornell Iral Haynes Jr. (born November 2, 1974), known professionally as Nelly, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, investor, and occasional actor from St. Louis, Missouri. Nelly embarked on his music career with Midwest hip hop group St. Lunatics in 1993 and signed to Universal Records in 1999. Under Universal, Nelly began his solo career in the year 2000, with his debut album Country Grammar, of which the featured title-track and the single "Ride wit Me" were top ten hits. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and went on to peak at number one. Country Grammar is Nelly's best-selling album to date, selling over 8.4 million copies in the United States.[3] His following album, Nellyville, produced the number-one hits "Hot in Herre" and "Dilemma" (featuring Kelly Rowland). Other singles included "Work It" (featuring Justin Timberlake), "Air Force Ones" (featuring Murphy Lee and St. Lunatics), "Pimp Juice" and "#1". With the same-day dual release of Sweat, Suit (2004) and the compilation Sweatsuit (2006), Nelly continued to generate many chart-topping hits. Sweat debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 342,000 copies in its first week. In the same week of release, Suit debuted at number one, selling around 396,000 copies in its first week on the same chart. Nelly's fifth studio album, Brass Knuckles, was released on September 16, 2008, after several delays. It produced the singles "Party People" (featuring Fergie), "Stepped on My J'z" (featuring Jermaine Dupri and Ciara) and "Body on Me" (featuring Akon and Ashanti). In 2010, Nelly released the album 5.0. The lead single, "Just a Dream", was certified triple platinum in the United States. It included the singles "Move That Body" (featuring T-Pain and Akon) and "Gone" (a sequel to the 2002 single "Dilemma" in collaboration with Kelly Rowland). Nelly won Grammy Awards in 2003 and 2004 and had a supporting role in the 2005 remake film The Longest Yard with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. He has two clothing lines, Vokal and Apple Bottoms. He has been referred to by Peter Shapiro as "one of the biggest stars of the new millennium",[4] and the RIAA ranks Nelly as the fourth best-selling rap artist in American music history,[5] with 21 million albums sold in the United States. On December 11, 2009, Billboard ranked Nelly the number three Top Artist of the Decade.[6] #29DaysOfBlackHistory 29 Days of History music is mastered and mixed by kidkurtis *Putting People On Game does not own any rights to this music or images* Hit us up or send us a text 214-744-3601! Si & Veronica are joined by special guest Chef John Mark Heins for the episode to kick off the nifty nineties! Some sad news was Juice WRLD’s death this past weekend. Ryan Reynolds capitalized on the zeitgeist of the Peloton ad and cast its leading lady in a “sequel” ad for his gin. We all had a lot to say about Lizzo baring her butt cheeks at the Lakers game… what message is she sending? #Bananagate has been heard ‘round the internet after a controversial incident at Art Basel. With 2019 nearing its end, Time Magazine named their Person of the Year and other categories, as well as Merriam-Webster picked “they” as their Word of the Year. Vee went “Yikes” to a couple’s FitBit sync tattling on a cheating boyfriend and WalMart trying to sell a sweater with a snowman who is quite the drug enthusiast. Our Mini Main Topic this week touched on how to best rekindle a love flame with someone you potentially ghosted. Is there a right or wrong way to do it? What can you expect in a catch-up meet-up? (You can probably expect Vee and John in disguises creeping on Si’s potential date). Join us for what is always a good time and leave us a rating and review for a shoutout! Mark Bland and Gary Weed return with a hot episode of the Q, cooked up just the way you like it. This week's episode welcomes friend of the show Ali Jones of the legendary hip hop group the St. Lunatics. Ali has been to the top of the music business with is crew since 1999. Winning multiple Grammy Awards and music awards for their contributions, Ali along with his childhood friends have racked up quite the reputation. Whether it's Country Grammar, Free City, Heavy Starch or the multitude of other albums and features, Ali has set himself along with Nelly, Murphy Lee, Kyjuan, City Spud and Slo Down as the dominate midwest hip hop group of the early 2000's thru today. First up, Mark being in the music business, he has worked with the group on different projects in the past. From these interactions and personal dealings, Mark realized early that Ali is a force to reckoned with verbally when discussing touchy and somewhat controversial topics...not unlike himself. Ali explains the beginnings of the St. Lunatics as they celebrate their 25th year as a group. Mark wonders if there is any plans for a full line up reunion and Ali expounds on why that is always a potential but not at this moment. Next there are many stories of the hip hop group Mark has heard through the grapevine for years. He decides to serve the stories up and put the questions to rest. Did this happen? Did that happen? Some very juicy and interesting background on the group and how they gained notoriety is spawned from these questions. Maybe you knew, but maybe you didn't. Find out the real scoop on the groups ascent to fame and popularity. The guys on the Q have discussed gangs and 1%'ers in the past. But also 5%'ers were brought up on the show before and there is a lot of lore and background to that belief in the world. Ali being a 5%'er shines light on whats true and not about his beliefs. He also explains what being a 5%'er means and how others can attain the same beliefs in their life. But Ali goes a step further and discusses the ways to apply that lifestyle and belief structure to your everyday life. Finally, Ali wanted to discuss something he's heard Mark talk about before regarding slavery in the USA. Ali goes on to discuss how slavery should be viewed and begins to discuss the reparations he believes are important setting things back in the right order. Do you agree or disagree? Find out about this and a bunch more on this riveting interview on The Q!

Since the beginning of the southern hip-hop movement Alabama has lacked the representation to prove to the world that we are a talented power house. In 2005 King David emerged from the small town of Prichard as the C.E.O. of Lordstyle Entertainment to begin leading the way for all hip-hop artists in Alabama. Lordstyle was created in dedication of King David's long-time friend Edwan Hosey whose life-long dream was to create music.
