Co-Host Ayush Prakash (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/ayush) The 'generation gap' is nothing new. Boomers complained about how 'square' their parents were, and then Gen X complained about how lame their parents' music was. But with Gen Z it's a bit different. This generation is the first to grow up 'neuro-plastically connected to technology'. Those are the words of my first time guest Ayush Prakash, author of the new book called AI for Gen Z. So how exactly has the Internet Age shaped young adults? What's more, how will AI do that from now on? Ayush is actually a Gen Z'er, so he knows what he's talking about. He starts by talking about the '3 Rs' that will affect all of us going forward, but especially the youngest generation coming up. How do technology companies and their prioritization of profit really affect all of us in unexpected ways, particularly as men? What specifically has happened in just the last five short years to rob the human race of its humanity, let alone your masculinity? How is AI tricking us into accepting the computer as an authoritarian power (yes, really), and dragging us down to a less-human level of existence with it? Are you cheating on your partner if you get an AI girlfriend programmed to give you what you're missing from your IRL relationship? Is there really any correlation between intelligent learning models as we know them and the possibility of a 'Skynet'-like AGI? What does it even mean to be human--and masculine--a quarter of the way through the 21st century? And if we've lost something there already, how to we get it back? Co-Host Tom LaGrave (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/honor) My first time guest Tom LaGrave is a retired Navy SEAL, clinical therapist and founder of The Honor Bound Academy, an upcoming learning domain to give adolescents the proper rite of passage into adulthood. In a post-modern world where it seems like everyone is in it for themselves and the end justifies the means, Tom is all about reminding us that honor and character still matter. In fact, the man who focuses accordingly is actually likely to be the one who gets ahead. How is present-day America affecting the mental health of our young people? What's the difference between young people growing up in the 70's and our youth nowadays? And what should a modern-day rite of passage even look like for young men? Did the rise of Secular Humanism really result in the downfall of honor and character? What's Tom's specific warning with the rise of what he calls 'social warfare'? Even though honor and character are related, they're not synonymous. How does Tom describe that link between the two? What is the driving factor for honor and character that almost everyone overlooks? How has the smartphone era specifically mounted an assault against honor and character? Will AI further augment our reality with regard to values, integrity and even our behavior patterns? And of course, how does a strong sense of honor and good character really, truly affect our relationships with women? Hint: It has everything to do with having a valid rite of passage. Most importantly of all, what do we as men stand to lose when we don't fine-tune our sense of honor and our character...whether we realize it or not? === SNIPPETS FROM THE SUMMIT === A lot of us as men have been discouraged from approaching, meeting and talking to women. That's rough enough in and of itself. But what's especially insidious is that this disastrous mindset often comes from the very pickup artist advice that was supposed to help, not make things worse. Well, what's ironically good news here is it's all based on a lie. So if we find ourselves stuck because we think all women are out to 'reject' us, not only is that simply not the case, but the kind of chick who we picture doing that is actually more of a unicorn than a typical woman. Co-Host Zach Schleien (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/spark) My returning guest Zach Schleien has founded dating companies and now serves as the General Manager of Matchmaking for Spark Networks. Over the course of his career, he's learned a thing or two about what attracts men and women to each other. So what are the mindsets, trigger and attitudes that make attraction happen at the primal, psychological level? Well, obviously physical attraction matters (hence Zach's commitment to video dating), but how that works differs between men and women. It has been said that none of us should expect to 'punch above our weight' in the looks department, but we see exceptions around us all the time. What is that attributable to? Is it true that if a guy has a great job or lots of money it'll cover over 'a multitude of sins' in the looks department? What do women find attractive that's in relatively short supply among men here in the post-modern era? Was David DeAngelo right when he famously said, 'attraction is not a choice'? What is the general rule that governs what the media tells us is 'attractive'? What happens to our sense of attraction as we cross cultures and travel to different countries? Are all pretty women attractive? What about women who know they're beautiful, and seem to think they can get by on their looks alone? How do dating apps mess up our entire mindset about attraction? And on that note, are we really attracted to women we think we're attracted to, or are our minds playing tricks on us (again)? And if we really don't have our type figured out yet, what's the disarmingly obvious solution to solving the puzzle? === SNIPPETS FROM THE SUMMIT === Women go around constantly worried about being 'slut shamed'. I mean, it's one thing to be genuinely slutty. But too many of us as men shame women simply for being sexual creatures. It should go without saying that's counterproductive if we're trying to have a thriving sex life. But it's not like we as men are the only ones going around shaming MOTOS (members of the other sex). As it turns out, women have their own equivalent of 'slut shaming' that they go around weaponizing against us as men. And sure enough, most of us will go out of our way to not be accused of it. Well, as soon as I utter the simple phrase in this show, you'll cringe. But rest assured, just like there's a simple solution for avoiding slut shaming women, there's an equally simple solution for not BEING shamed by man-hating women out there. But hey, it's an important one. How do you deal with your ex...especially if you're now in a new relationship? Check it out, there are at least three categories of ex that could still theoretically be haunting your life after a breakup or divorce. And you'd better believe we'll be covering how to handle the necessarily interactions with each type. But what if your new relationship is being negatively impacted by pesky exes? Or what if your new flame is weirdly jealous of your old one? How do you handle the infamous 'child exchanges' mandated by custody agreements? What if an ex (predictably) tries to drive a wedge between you and your new partner? What if your ex is desperately trying to get you back? Or what if one of you isn't quite over the last relationship? On the other hand, what if you've made a significant upgrade over your ex and they're super upset and catty about your new 'trophy'? And in that case, isn't it weird how we start sort of rooting for our ex to find someone new--and who they like even better--themselves? And on that note, can we actually be friends with our ex, even when we're in a new relationship? Should you delete their numbers from your phone, or not? What if you're in a 'rebound relationship', and it's looking like your new partner might end up back with their old one? Hey...it happens a lot. On the other hand, what if they're toxic and just won't leave well enough alone? And wait a minute, was that a 'Rubberband Man' reference, out of the blue? Co-Host Raj Khedun (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/raj) My first time guest Raj Khedun is one of the few and the proud who has turned his philosophy degree into a viable living. He's done that by helping men harness the power of their breathing. Now, before you dismiss this as yet another attempt to get guys to do yoga, hear Raj out. You see, too many of us as men let ourselves get all worked up over the little things in life--and can't seem to find our 'off' switch for the stress we compile--when our masculine edge is found in those moments we keep our cool even when the chips are down for real. So just to get it out of the way, Raj isn't gonna make you wear spandex and do lotus poses, dude. What he is all about, however, is introducing what he calls his 3:3 Metaverse Method to get your breathing to work for you instead of against you. As you know, I don't do a whole lot of shows on this sort of thing. But Raj is indeed on to something. We do his exercise live on the show, and although it made for a weird couple minutes of audio, I can vouch for its immediate impact. According to Raj, controlling our breathing can obviate the need for some of the meds we take, help insomnia, and yes...improve our interactions with women. How? Well, for starters it enables that elusive 'flow state' that men's dating advice has sought after dating back to the PUA era. The breathing exercise could also theoretically help you get in state before approaching women at the grocery store, or even when a woman comes over your place for the first time. Remember also, that your state affects that of the woman you love and even your kids. The possibilities are only limited by the number of instances you want to gain control over your thoughts and emotions. One of the most unfortunate PUA trends was encouraging men to be as goal-oriented in their dating lives as they're used to being in their professional lives. I mean, it all sounds good and makes sense from a masculinity perspective. But in the real world with real women, there's a far better strategy. It's not only more authentic, it WORKS. Co-Host Judith Kaluzny (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/judith) Plenty of us as men have not only had our run-ins with what's commonly known as the family law system, we feel as if we've been thoroughly shafted by it. Well, my guest is a retired divorce lawyer and mediator who is out to overthrow the family law system as we know it. Judith Kaluzny is the author of two books, Marriage License Handbook: Rules Of The Road For Getting Married and her upcoming one The American Way of Divorce: A Fraud on Families. Basically, Judith says we need to quit the systems designed with an adversary process as the default, and start over with a mediation system. She says that's because the divorce industry profits at the expense of the wife, husband and especially the children. The costs are financial, emotional and, for young children, developmental. So then, what are the pros and cons of mediating a divorce vs. litigating? What should marital property rules be? Should there be a marriage contract, like we see routinely in business? How does domestic violence factor in? As far as children go, Judith has seven (!) and believes strongly in 'parenting plans' instead of custody battles. What should a relational agreement with a woman look like? And finally, what I think is the centerpiece of her overall position, her argument for post-nuptial agreements rather than simply pre-nups. But weirdly, not only are most so-called 'dating experts' following the post-modern herd, they're even falling into the trap themselves...as in, with the women in their OWN lives. Co-Host Adam Darrow (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/risk) My first-time guest Adam Darrow has always been a thrill-seeking risk taker. Early on, that meant participating in extreme sports, of course. But not until he met ONE woman in particular did he ever consider dating and relating to women an extreme sport unto itself. She made it very clear that she was not the kind of woman who wanted to settle down with one man. That led to a path of sexual discovery for Adam that would make Mickey Rourke's character in 9 1/2 Weeks jealous. So who was this woman, and what made her so tantalizingly different? And how did Adam's response to her--and what she offered--differ from most guys who might dream about finding a chick and getting into 'The Lifestyle' with her? When Adam's new girlfriend was quite public about their non-monogamous relationship, how did Adam's family and friends respond? And did he care? How did this new relationship affect his masculinity? Well, given they got married and stayed together for over ten years, you can already sense how amazing the story of this adventure is going to get. What happened when Adam entered the 'underground' sex society of New York City, and what was that like? Were there any pitfalls or was it all pleasure? How did Adam feel about sharing his girl with other men...even in real time? Is desiring and living such a lifestyle a matter of nature or nurture? And is there such thing as 'cheating' is a completely open relationship? Is monogamous intimacy overrated? Can you go back to monogamy after extreme non-monogamy, even if you want to? Ultimately, would Adam recommend a non-monogamous lifestyle? These are some powerful questions amidst one of the most shocking episodes in recent memory, but it all made for a great episode. Admittedly, I'm on record as saying that if a couple breaks up, it's probably for good reason and they shouldn't get back together. Plenty of other dating advice folks are with me on that. BUT, along come Michael and Courtney Allison, who have been on again, off again, on AGAIN, and off AGAIN...and finally together once more, this time for the long haul. Well, okay...what makes their case different? How did they 'crack the code'? Well, as it turns out, there are plenty of reasons why couples split that CAN be fixed, either by uncovering very real road blocks and/or some good old-fashioned self work. What are the past traumas Michael and Courtney had to work through before they were truly relationship ready? What did they go through in the past that caused seemingly insurmountable problems in their relationship? And hey...how did they eventually indeed surmount them? How did they finally come back together after TWO divorces? And an even better question, how is it they finally KNOW they're each other's 'ride or die' nowadays? I have to tell you, Courtney and Michael are compelling, and I personally believe they've figured it all out. Remember, Michael is a returning guest and the first episode he co-hosted was all about the almost surreal trauma he's faced and how he overcame that personally. This time, the meta-level conversation with Courtney joining us as well certainly takes everything to the relationship level. But what if health and happiness are actually related? And which comes first? This is a conversation every man who expects to lead and succeed must have. And obviously, it's hard to be attractive to women if you're sickly and cranky. My guest Dr. Rick Kirschner famously wrote a book on how to deal with people we can't stand. How does THAT idea fit in to all of this? Next, Rick talks about how the 'sick care system' here in the United States is robbing so many of us of our happiness as well as our health, even from a shockingly early age. And what is the link between your blood sugar, your testosterone and your weight relative to your psychological and even spiritual well-being? I mean, is happiness itself a function of health? What is the 'triangle of health'? What is Rick's theory regarding what state brings about the best combination of health and happiness? How has the last decade or so in particular dramatically affected both our health and our happiness for the worse? Although it seems obvious that fear would destroy both health and happiness, it seems there's more fearmongering in the media and in society at large than ever before. What's up with that, and how do you stand up to it? And what about our lifestyle choices? Can some of those have a tangible impact on our happiness we might not even see coming? Why do so many dudes die right after they retire? Obviously, being unhealthy and cranky is a bad looks, so what are Rick's steps to keep us out of falling into that trap, or getting us unstuck if we're already in a rut? Co-Host Lucia (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/lucia) Remember those old pickup artist ads that used to promise getting you '10s...who are reserved for rock stars'? Well, my new friend Lucia is a dating expert who has indeed worked with rock stars and other celebrities...as have I. However, of particular interest there is that she specializes in breakups and getting exes back. So what do you know? Everyone who dates gets broken up with, even rock stars. So there's no shame in that, after all. But what if you could dramatically increase your odds of NOT getting broken up with? That sounded like a great topic to me, and Lucia brought a great discussion to the show. So then, what are the first steps to 'breakup proofing' yourself? I mean, being the kind of man women want to keep around forever would be a great start, right? For womens' part, I've met my fair share for sweet, sane, beautiful women who actually like men...none of whom have ever met a so-called 'commitment phobe'. But according to Lucia, most married couples she knows went through at least one breakup, and she disagrees with me that couples who split probably do so for good reason and should stay that way. But it seems to me like every old couple I know who has been married for years met as highschool sweethearts and stayed that way. So, what has changed over the years with how men and women date and relate? What are the TWO WORDS that separate men who get broken up with from men who make women addicted to them? (Hint: You've heard me say the same thing.) How do most men blow their chances at making women want them forever before they even leave the house? Do men and women both get 'triggered' too easily lately, to the peril of what's actually a perfectly good relationship? An interesting, important and even entertaining conversation overall. Co-Host Dr. Gary Salyer (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/salyer) Whenever you go to a wedding, you can instinctively tell whether the couple getting married is built to last or not. We've all heard murmurs at wedding receptions to the effect of, 'I give them six months", right? But for some reason, far too many of us have a serious blind spot when it comes to choosing a woman in hopes of having a long-term relationship with her. My returning guest Gary Salyer and I have that all-important (and overdue) conversation in this action-packed episode. So first off, the obvious question... Why in the world do couples get married when it's blatantly obvious to everyone else that it's a horrible mistake? Does what we all think of as 'compatibility' really matter when it comes to a relationship's staying power? If not that, then what could the major linchpin of relationship longevity actually be? The answer will surprise you. Continuing onward, Gary shares four major feelings that have to be happening between a couple in order for a relationship go the long haul. (And nope, simple 'love' isn't one of them...that would be too easy!) How do men and women both unwittingly sabotage relationships, even when they WANT them to last? How does fear enter into all of this...and where does that fear even come from? Why is it we can push away someone who is perfect for us...much to the frustration of the other person, of course? Co-Host Kamini Wood (https//mountaintoppodcast.com/wood) My returning guest Kamini Wood is a human potential coach, and commentator on male/female relationships. I invited her feminine self to join me for a down-to-earth discussion about how women tend to define what a 'real man' is to them. Now for sure, as a grown-ass man you definitely will define yourself, whether you like it or not. But...given how masculinity and femininity are the catalysts of sexual attraction, if you'd like to make women crazy about you sexually, it would be a fantastic idea to find out what the consider to be masculine. Well, it turned out to be quite the disruptive conversation, as Kamini went headfirst into talking about how we as men need to be more in tune with our emotional selves. But what's the difference between being 'in our feminine' if we do that vs. staying true to being a real man? Apparently, it's tricky. What does Kamini have to say about the ways women look to men to create true safety and security? Why do so many guys clam up when it's time to say something, and then say that which should have been left unsaid? Is it all in the name of being 'stoic'? How do women tend to feel about men bringing out their 'dark side' in certain situations? What if we've really been beaten down by the pressures of life lately? Should we not burden our significant other with those feelings, or what? Overall, expect a reset from this episode with regard to what women think masculine 'weakness' looks like compared to how we as men tend to view it. Co-Host Wesley Tian (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/aragon) About a year and a half ago I produced a now-infamous audio program called Women And AI. I covered the good, the bad and the ugly about how AI was--and will continue to--affect us as men as we date and relate to women. But here we are in March of 2025, and there's no denying the AI ship has sailed. This is NOT a fad. You can either lead, follow or get out of the way. Wesley Tian of Aragon.ai is one who made the firm decision to lead. Ever notice how every realtor, lawyer and quasi-public figure has an AMAZING professional headshot lately? Yeah, that's probably because they hit Wesley up for his services. Wesley is my guest this week, and I'm going to openly admit he has challenged my entire thought process regarding AI in many ways. For starters, I actually gave Aragon.ai a whirl, and yes...the pictures look like me. Not only that, they look like me with a better wardrobe that I didn't have to go out and buy for a photo shoot, and are at least as high-quality as any professional photographer would have been able to capture, for probably 8% of the cost...and without half a day wasted on it, either. It struck me that these 'fake' pictures were absolutely more REAL than, say, any retouched photo or certainly any Glamour Shot ridiculousness from the '80s and '90s. But here's the thing... Wesley also specializes in online dating pictures. That's where I'm still not completely convinced. But we'll report, and you decide. Either way, the future is here...and everyone who's on the bandwagon will have an undeniably clear advantage. By the way, as is typically the case in matters like these, the women out there are already WAY ahead of you. But on the other hand, you've also heard that if you don't please a woman in bed the way she craves, she'll leave you for a man who will. So which is it? Or could everything be different than it seems? Well, the truth is there's a pretty exact time and place when getting to know a woman where you're going to have to show up sexually, or she WILL leave. Co-Host Emily McKay (https://www.deservwhatyouwant.com) Nowadays we live in a culture that extols selfhood and immediate gratification. As marriage becomes less revered as an institution, lots of people are asking if there's really any reason to hold off from having sex extremely early in the relationship...even on the same day they meet. I mean, if that's what both of you want, why not? But as we all know, life has a way of throwing complications at you...even if you're all about nothing more than a sexually transactional relationship. Whatever happened to connection? What even IS 'connection' anyway, and does it have to take very long to happen? If the two of you are horny and just want to have a fling, to what extent do you even HAVE to connect...at all? Isn't sexual chemistry enough in that case? And what if you're a person of faith and don't believe in sex before marriage? Does that mean you're basically supposed to remain platonic friends until your wedding night? Well, we all know the truth about 'technical virginity' and how fragile even that is vis-a-vis natural human urges and impulses. Does having sex too soon in a relationship negatively affect the prospects for a long-term relationship? I mean, can you trust each other away from home when you couldn't even resist temptation together? But on the other hand, can your sexual relationship suffer if you waited too LONG? Why is what the pickup artist movement used to teach really a disservice to both women AND men? But wait a minute...does one partner really HAVE to lie or cheat the other in order to make sex happen fast? That aside, what--if anything--do we miss out on as humanoids by rushing into a sexual relationship immediately? What is 'the talk' every couple should have before having sex? Georganne Chapin is the Executive Director of IntactAmerica.org. She joins me for a frank and sometimes shocking discussion that will serve to give any and every man 20/20 foresight about foreskin. So what inspired Georganne to become such an activist for a men's cause, and why did she write her book, This Penis Business: A Social Activist's Memoir? Why is the USA basically the only country left on earth that still cuts boys? I mean, given that female circumcision is universally considered mutilation, why is the situation with boys any different? What were the weird myths that brought about the perceived need to circumcise boys to begin with, and how are doctors finally starting to speak up against it? Apart from the obvious pain and trauma needlessly inflicted upon babies, why is circumcision a bad deal for men for our entire lives? What are we missing out on by missing our foreskins? And how is the procedure just another cog in the medical industrial complex? Either we get angry and yell about it, or we bottle it all up and do nothing. Well, in this episode I'm joined by returning guest Dr. Marcia Reynolds. We kick things off by talking about how so many guys find it difficult to be assertive without either rocking the boat or creating some big, hairy misunderstanding. Even worse, most of us dread coming off like some sort of male 'Karen'. And I mean, we're all sick of feeling judged by others, so that's the last way we want to come off. Fortunately, there are simple ways to mitigate those situations, which Marcia happily explains. First off, our brains are naturally designed to judge everything to protect us, so how do we know how and when to act on those judgments when necessary...especially if it potentially involves someone else's behavior modification? And how can we be assertive without lapsing into passive aggression? On that note, what exactly does 'passive aggressive' actually mean? And what is the difference between toughness and assertiveness? Do women want us as men to be tough as nails all the time? I mean, is there zero margin for error there? And how should we be more assertive--or less so--within the context of our own relationship with a woman? Ha...that's a tricky one. How can arrogance cloud our effectiveness at being assertive? How does Hanlon's Razor factor into all of this? And the million dollar question...how do we measure how assertive to actually be in any given situation? Co-Host Corey Martire (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/lovestrategist) Well, here we are...it's Valentine's Day again. It's no secret most of us as men utterly dread this Queen of the Hallmark Holidays for obvious reasons. But 'dating dread' it isn't just reserved for February 14th, is it? The term 'dating' itself is virtually obsolete because ain't nobody got time for that anymore nowadays. Meanwhile, it's well-documented around here how the majority of us as men are allergic to fun. So how on Earth are we supposed to actually enjoy meeting and relating to women out there? Joining the discussion is my first-time guest Corey Martire, or 'Love Strategist Corey' as she is often called. And getting a 'lady guru's' take on this turned out to be a whole lot of fun in and of itself. For starters, online dating and apps are obviously feeling more like work than fun nowadays. What's up with that? Have the sites and apps contributed to their own problems there? So then, we should probably go out into the real world and meet women there, right? But that sounds like even LESS fun to most of us. What does Corey have to say about that? Well, here's a hint...there's more to life than buying women a drink. And by the way, what might look like 'rejection' probably isn't. What about when we're actually on a date with a woman? Is there an alternative to playing '20 questions'? Should men still be chivalrous? And how is fear robbing us (and women) of fun? Finally, what are some unexpected fun ways to keep a relationship amazing even after many years? We instinctively know it's not, but that doesn't make it any less fun and interesting to find out about a certain part of our country--yes, right here in the good ol' US of A--where a completely different kind of guy gets all the girls in high school. Co-Host Justin Stenstrom (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/eliteman) My long-time friend and fellow men's coach Justin Stenstrom from The Elite Man is back to talk about one of his favorite subjects, men's mental health. Unfortunately, a lot of guys feel like even acknowledging the need for support in this area is an indication of weakness, but hey...we're only human. If we don't deal with our darkness and our demons, they'll ruthlessly deal with us until we do. So first off, how does our mental health affect both our attitudes and our actions toward women? What are the two main external factors that greatly affect our ability to, well..stay sane as men in this world? And why is it the more we as men care about being better men, the more susceptible we seem to be to mental health crises? Could all this be at least tangentially related to how most of us as men are allergic to fun...and feel almost guilty relaxing? And how do our lifestyle choices affect our overall mental health? What does our sense of value and purpose have to do with it? Could we have been raised to go crazy? And what if this is coming back around to how 'safe' everything is in today's world? Are we going 'stir-crazy', if not anything else? So how do we wrap our heads around this and reclaim our sanity? Well, as you might have already guessed, the first step is simply removing the blinders and recognizing there is a problem. Fortunately, Justin has other practical steps so you can take it from there. Co Host Kim Ades (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/struggle) My returning guest is Frame Of Mind coach Kim Ades. She has observed that high-achieving, driven men tend to struggle in four key, and quite valid areas. The first is 'isolation', which encompasses a lot more than you might be guessing. It's not only about relationships, but also about carrying responsibility and the expectations of others. What a mess already, right? Well, that's just the beginning. Stay tuned as Kim talks about why high-achieving men often experience friction in their relationships. This friction can either be overt or covert, which Kim goes on to explain. But either way, it's invariably a source of massive frustration. But wait, there's more. High-achievers can also feel chronic dissatisfaction...at work, at home, their social lives, and for sure in their relationships with women. So what's up with THAT? The fourth struggle Kim has identified is based on a term she has coined herself, and that's 'slippage'. It's probably not what you're guessing it is. How do these four ways we struggle affect our dating lives and ultimately our relationships with women? What is it that's making so many men feel beaten down in general? Why is it that billionaires often can balance their lives to the point of having plenty of 'free time', yet most of the rest of us struggle mightily just to keep up with our daily grind?  And by the way, what does our upbringing and/or our birth order have to do with any of this? Add it all up, and you'll likely not only relate to much of what is talked about in this show, but also LOVE the solutions Kim comes up with. All that can mean, gentlemen, is the first of us to get this skill right will get the girl. So then, if this is so freaking important, why do we tend to mess it up? My first-time guest Matt Halloran, author of 'Shut The F Up And Listen', has it all figured out. After this episode, so will you. First off, what exactly is engaged listening? Next, what basic skill is the art of listening predicated upon...and why? There is a 'hardwired' mindset within most of us as men that causes us to miss out on opportunities to listen. How do we rewire ourselves for success? Are there situations where it's patently unfair to expect us as men to just 'shut the f up and listen' to the woman in our life? What is the ultimate positive reason to actually pause, breath and listen to a woman...especially if you want her to stick around? Shifting gears a bit, listen in as Matt shares his #1 first date tip...which is really something else. What are the most powerful three words on a first date? My returning guest Corey Nathan runs an entire podcast called Talkin' Politics And Religion Without Killing Each Other, so these sort of questions are what he lives and breathes. Right off the bat, Corey suggests we as men recover an insanely useful skill that few of us recognize as important. Next, what does being able to separate what's really important from what's merely urgent have to do with all of this? Are people 'politically fatigued' about now? Is the country ready to unite? If so, does that mean women will be easier to talk to? What happens when we let politics become our religion...whether we realize it or not? Have we become addicted to fearmongering, regardless of whether or not we actually like feeling afraid? (I know, weird...) Has what can best be described as 'the feminine opinion' caused a backlash among men in terms of how they vote, and indeed in how they relate to women? Has the narrative shifted to such a radical degree in this country (and perhaps the entire world) that people are ready to salvage their dignity as independent thinkers rather than simply following their party's directives? Why hasn't people's general rejection of politics as religion led to higher church attendance? And by the way, are politics and religion really all that matters when men and women are getting to know each other on dates? I mean, lately one could easily think so. And even as we partied like it was 1999, nobody's nose was buried in their smartphone because those hadn't come out yet. People weren't even texting each other. After all, if on the off chance you had texting on your phone, every message cost like sixty cents. Online dating was in its infancy, but already stigmatized as if any users were desperate losers who 'liked pina coladas'. Indeed, if a guy wanted to ask a woman out the best way to do that was in person (go figure) because picking up the phone and being confronted with an answering machine was just too stressful. But at least actual dating was still a thing rather than simply 'hooking up' or 'hanging out'. Nevertheless, getting quality dating advice from, well...anywhere? Forgettaboutit. Self-help of any kind on the still narrowband Internet was practically unheard of. Even what would become the PUA movement was still limited to 'underground' keyboard jockeys in chat rooms (!) trying to figure out tricks to 'game' women with. Social media was years away, and with it the rise of 'echo chambers' that would shape public opinion (and outrage) on all manner of ways men and women relate to each other. And yes, people were terrified of getting herpes and dying of AIDS, so sexual activity was approached very differently than it is today. Fortunately, you don't have to do that. All you need is this podcast episode. My returning guest is none other than the Mindset Mentor Delora Guignion from Ottawa, Canada. We indeed engage in a discussion about this heavy-duty topic, and it's guaranteed to really make you think. I mean, is everything we do--and everything we're about--really tied to our masculine and feminine nature? Can't there just be human nature? Well, maybe...maybe not. Delora and I will have to sort of agree to disagree in some ways, even though we really do agree on all the best-case scenarios for how people get along. But seriously, how are we as men in particular really hamstringing ourselves by not really understanding how femininity works? And why is it so many people--men and women alike--simply refuse to even acknowledge that men and women have different priorities and sensibilities, and that's probably okay? And that's just the warm-up. Are left-brained people in their masculine and right-brained people in their feminine? The ramifications of that question extend to almost every corner of life. All we really know is that when masculinity and femininity understand each other, whether they're left- or right-brained, we all get along better. And that, friends and neighbors, is a no-brainer.
