This week on the show, Andrew and Ted discuss the Netflix animated original "SWAPPED", starring Ollie (V/O by Michael B. Jordan), Ivy (V/O by Juno Temple) and an appearance by Boogie (V/O by Tracy Morgan). After Ollie, a chipmunk type creature, introduces their primary food source to the birds, a Parrot / Mockingbird type bird, Ollie and his species realize that their days are limited due to a lack of food. Ollie tries to right the wrong. In the process Ollie discovers the magical pods that allow you to become other creatures. Ollie transforms himself into one of these birds in an attempt to get them to quit eating their food. Along the way he befriends one of these birds and through the magic pods they switch bodies. The objective becomes clouded when the two of them encounter the "fire wolves" and become the hunted themselves. Tune into the show to find out what Andrew and Ted thought of "SWAPPED".

In this fun and animated episode of Backstage Pass with Gentry Thomas, comedy legend Cedric the Entertainer joins Gentry to talk about his new Netflix animated movie, Swapped. The film is a body-swap animated adventure featuring a stacked voice cast that includes Michael B. Jordan, Juno Temple, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Justina Machado, and more. Watch Swapped on Netflix here: Netflix - Swapped  Cedric talks about what it’s like stepping into the world of animation, how voice acting differs from live-action comedy, and the challenge of bringing a character to life using only your voice. He also reflects on the different animated projects he’s been part of throughout his career and why animation allows performers to stretch in a completely different way. Gentry and Cedric also have some fun with the movie’s body-swap concept, including who Cedric would swap bodies with if he could choose anyone, alive or dead. The conversation also dives into his hit CBS show The Neighborhood, his current work on Broadway, and how he continues to evolve as a performer across stand-up, television, film, animation, and theater. From Netflix animation to sitcom success and Broadway lights, this episode is full of laughs, wisdom, and classic Cedric charm.

George Orwell's classic totalitarian critique "Animal Farm" gets a dumbed-down animated big screen incarnation. Yes, the pigs take over the farm, but the metaphors don't fly. The all-star voice cast includes Seth Rogan, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin and Woody Harrelson but their efforts are for naught. Screenwriter Nicholas Stoller and director Andy Serkis deserve some credit for trying a new approach, but this so-called modernized version of “Animal Farm” isn't for adults who revere Orwell or for kids who couldn't care less. Here's one that won't be shown on airlines anytime soon. "Jaws" meets "Airport" in "Deep Water," the story of a loaded passenger flight that crashes into -you guessed it- shark infested waters. Aaron Eckhart and Sir Ben Kingsley are the captains who accidentally serve up a smorgasbord for hungry carnivores along with the typical disaster movie cliches. If the premise sounds familiar, another movie called “No Way Up” came out two years ago with a nearly identical plot. While it's overly familiar, director Renny Harlin's opus “Deep Water” is impressively filmed. It ain't deep, but disaster movie fans won't mind. Producer John Lasseter may no longer be at Pixar, but his creative fingerprints are all over the wildly imaginative Netflix animated fantasy, "Swapped." Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple provide the voices of a mammal and a bird who magically swap bodies in a fantastical woodland area. Their experiences change their perspectives, proving that differences are good and that working together makes life better for everyone. It's smart and beautifully animated. "Swapped" is a family film in the best sense, providing thoughtful entertainment that can be enjoyed by all age groups.

Schade, GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, DON'T DIE hätte ein überzeugenderes Ende verdient. Am Mikrofon direkt nach dem Film: Johanna, Heidi, Hendrik, Harald, Tom und Thomas.

This week on the pod, we're heading back to the Island to unpack Lost Season 4, Episode 4: “Eggtown.” It's a Kate-centric hour that blends domestic fantasy with legal thriller energy, as the flash-forwards finally start filling in the gaps of the Oceanic Six storyline. We break down what “Eggtown” reveals about Kate's need to run—even when she's trying to stay—why her off-Island life feels like a gilded cage, and how the episode uses motherhood as both redemption and self-deception. On the Island, alliances shift as Locke's camp fractures, Hurley's loyalty is tested, and Ben continues to manipulate literally everyone in the room. We dig into the moral chess match between Ben and Locke, the thematic meaning behind Kate's trial, and how this episode quietly sets the emotional stakes for the rest of Season 4.Then we shift gears into this weekend's new theatrical releases:First up, Gore Verbinski's Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die, starring Sam Rockwell, Haley Lu Richardson, and Juno Temple. We talk about Verbinski returning to large-scale genre filmmaking with a chaotic, high-concept sci-fi premise, Rockwell doing what Rockwell does best—existential panic with charm—and whether the film balances spectacle with heart or leans too far into cosmic weirdness.Next, Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights, led by Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. We get into Fennell's gothic sensibilities, the challenge of reinterpreting such a brooding literary classic for modern audiences, and whether this version amplifies the romance, the toxicity, or both. Is it a lush prestige drama, a fever dream, or something more divisive? Finally, we break down Bart Layton's Crime 101, starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry, and Barry Keoghan. A slick crime thriller with serious star power, this one promises cat-and-mouse tension and morally gray characters. We discuss whether Layton's documentary instincts sharpen the realism, how the ensemble chemistry plays out, and if the film delivers on its pulpy premise.Time travel, tragic romance, high-stakes heists—it's a packed episode. Life is like a jam-packed, extremely random box of chocolates on this week's episode of Breakfast All Day. Here's what we reviewed: WUTHERING HEIGHTS. Emerald Fennell's 14-year-old-girl fanfic version of the classic Emily Brontë novel is high on style but low on substance. Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie are a gorgeous Heathcliff and Cathy, but there's not much tension between them. See it for the dresses, though. In theaters. GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, DON'T DIE. An inspired title for a blast of a movie. Gore Verbinski's time-travel action comedy is zany, but it also has something serious to say about our reliance on technology. (Podcasts are OK, though.) Sam Rockwell, Haley Lu Richardson, Juno Temple, Zazie Beets and Michael Peña star. In theaters. CRIME 101. A well-crafted, well-acted LA noir in the spirit of "Heat." Chris Hemsworth stars as a jewel thief hitting targets along the 101 freeway. Mark Ruffalo is the police detective on his tail. Halle Berry is an insurance broker who gets caught up in his scheme. One of us liked this a lot more than the other. In theaters. MOVIE NEWS LIVE. Two weeks in a row! We're getting back to normal. You've really got to love the jolt of pure cinematic adrenaline that hits when a movie announces itself with extreme confidence instead of apology. “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die” does it by storming into a Los Angeles diner and unleashing a crazed, high‑wire opening monologue that plays like a dare, a sales pitch, and an exhausted rallying cry all at once. From the jump, the film makes it clear it is not here to calm you down. It's here to wake you the hell up. THE ROBOTS ARE COMING! THE ROBOTS ARE COMING!Directed by Gore Verbinski ("Pirates of the Caribbean," " Rango"), the film follows a mysterious man from "the future” (Sam Rockwell) who arrives at a diner with one urgent task: he must recruit the precise combination of disgruntled patrons to join him on a one‑night quest to save the world from the terminal threat of a rogue artificial intelligence. That reluctant group includes Zazie Beetz, Michael Peña, Haley Lu Richardson, and Juno Temple. What unfolds is a kinetic collision of sci‑fi, action, romance, and social satire that never lets up until the credits roll. Think "Terminator" on a healthy combo of acid & mushrooms and you've mostly got it. Joining The Discourse for a set of conversations on the film, Gore Verbinski, Sam Rockwell, Zazie Beetz, and Michael Peña dug into how the film's energy, tone, and unapologetic weirdness were not accidents, but the entire point.

A woman's husband goes up to the attic to retrieve something and down comes…a different husband. Wouldn't we all sometimes like to exchange the husband we have for a better, newer, or just different model? Holly turned this idea into a novel that is both funny and thoughtfully considered. It may not, in fact, be such a great thing to have an endless supply of potential husbands so easy to exchange.  Her book has been optioned by Apple Plus for a limited series and I just saw that Juno Temple, the actress who played Keeley in the Ted Lasso series, is slated to play the starring role.   And because it is April, and April is National Poetry Month, we're discussing books related to poets. Not everyone loves poetry, but these books aren't actually poetry–so you can still partake of poetry month. They are historical fiction, memoirs, essays, and children's books written by or inspired by poets.    Books Mentioned in This Episode:   1- The Husbands by Holly Gramazio   2- Lakewood by Megan Giddings   3- I Used to Live Here Once: The Haunted Life of Jean Rhys by Miranda Seymour   4- Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys     5- Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte     6- The Animals in That Country by Laura Jean McKay     7- Thank You for Calling the Lesbian Line by Elizabeth Lovett     8- Saint X by Alexis Schaitkin     9-  A Five Star Read Recommended by Fellow Book Lover  Chelsea @2_girls_bookin_it - The Endless Fall by Emmerson Hoyt     10- The Swan's Nest by Laura Mcneal     11- You Could Make This Place Beautiful by Maggie Smith     12- Memorial Drive by Natasha Trethaway     13- Emily's House by Amy Belding Brown     14- Finding Langston by Lesa Cline-Ransome     15- Bite by Bite: Nourishments and Jamborees by Aimee Nezhukumatathil     16- World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments by Aimee Nezhukumatathil     17- The Poet's Dog by Patricia McLachlan     Media mentioned-- 1- Severance (Apple+, 2022 - Present)   2- Reduced Shakespeare Company--https://www.reducedshakespeare.com   3- Saint X (Hulu, 2023)
