Ever notice how being underestimated can light a fire under you? Too young. Too old. Not the right look. The wrong box. It's frustrating. And it's also fuel, if you know how to use it. In this episode, I sat down with Trevor Storm, a student entrepreneur running Media Wolf Marketing while earning his finance degree at Butler University. Yes, you read that right. And no, he's not waiting for permission. We talked about what happens when clients look at you sideways and wonder if you can really do the job. Spoiler alert. That doubt can work in your favor. Here are a few moments that stuck with me. Say yes, then earn it. Trevor's mindset is simple. Say yes to the opportunity, then do the work to make that yes pay off. Not reckless, just confident enough to learn fast and own the outcome. Use what they doubt as your advantage. Youth. Flexibility. Fewer layers. Trevor reframes all of it. More time. More focus. More care. When clients are your whole world, they feel it. The magic lives in the final 5 percent. Anyone can start strong. Credibility shows up in the follow through. The details. The batteries charged. The checklist signed off. That last little bit is where trust is built. If you've ever worried that you don't look experienced enough or polished enough, this conversation is a reminder that credibility isn't about age or titles. It's about showing up, doing the work, and finishing strong. Sometimes the best way to prove them wrong is to simply do the job better than anyone expects.

Welcome to the Health Marketing Collective, where strong leadership meets marketing excellence. In today's episode, we're joined by Vasanta Pundarika, CEO of Lotuspring, a renowned healthcare investment banker, and trusted advisor to industry leaders who are working to bridge the gap between clinical conviction and sustainable scale—especially in women's and behavioral health. Hosted by Sara Payne, this powerful conversation dives deep into why so many healthcare brands are missing a pivotal movement in women's health, what it takes to truly earn women's trust, and how marketing, operations, and clinical teams can come together to create meaningful experiences that serve women holistically.Women's health is having a moment—but as Vasanta shares, it's more accurately a movement, driven by years of systemic gaps and a growing recognition that the status quo isn't enough. Despite the buzz, many organizations talk about leading in women's health without making necessary investments or creating real, differentiated experiences for female patients. A veteran in both finance and healthcare, Vasanta unpacks what ‘good' truly looks like when brands commit to women's health. From aligning marketing strategy with clinical substance, to collaborating across the C-suite, to acknowledging and addressing patient experience pain points—today's episode lays out a clear, actionable path for healthcare leaders and marketers ready to close the gap and build genuine, lasting trust with women. The discussion explores real-world pitfalls like “pink washing,” the underestimation of women's health complexity, and siloed planning between departments. Vasanta Pundarika also highlights industry standouts and the need for both niche and broad-based organizations to step up. Specific case studies in behavioral health, perimenopause, and cardiac care underscore the urgency of creating inclusive solutions, not just for women but for the health of families and communities at large.Thank you for listening to the Health Marketing Collective, where strong leadership meets marketing excellence. The future of healthcare depends on it.Key Takeaways:1. Move Beyond “Pink Washing”:Simply rebranding existing services or adding “women's health” messaging is not enough. Vasanta cautions against the pitfall of making things “pink” instead of developing real, differentiated clinical protocols and care pathways that address women's unique healthcare needs. Authenticity and substance, not symbolic gestures, win trust.2. Patient Experience Is the Product:Women's trust is built—or broken—in the details of the patient journey. Friction, complexity, or mismatched promises quickly erode brand loyalty. Brands that reduce barriers, provide holistic navigation, and deliver truly seamless experiences demonstrate that they “see” and value their female patients.3. Alignment Across Marketing, Clinical, and Operations Is Essential:Growth in women's health—and sustainable, trusted brands—requires collaborative strategy development. Vasanta recommends convening marketing, clinical, operations, and strategy leaders together to ensure what's being marketed is real, deliverable, and meaningfully distinct for women.4. Word of Mouth and Community Influence Are Powerful Drivers:The “voice of the customer”—listening to real women, collecting feedback, and amplifying their positive experiences—matters immensely in healthcare. Pilots, testimonials, and sharing what works for women allows brands to build authentic, organic trust and a broader community impact.5. Don't Underestimate the Scope of Women's Health Needs:Women's health extends far beyond OBGYN care. Behavioral health, heart health, and other specialties have unique female presentations and logistical barriers. Leaders must invest...

Welcome to the land podcast, a platform for people looking to educate themselves in the world of land ownership, land investing, staying up to date with current land trends in the Midwest, and hearing from industry experts and professionals. On today's episode, we are back in the studio with repeat guest Nic Schaalma. We discuss: Nick emphasizes the importance of balancing investments, including land and retirement accounts. Land can be a valuable investment, but it shouldn't be the only focus for average earners. A 401k match is considered "free money" and should be prioritized before investing in land. Saving for a down payment is crucial; having a safety net is essential before buying land. Buying land below market value can lead to significant long-term gains and wealth building. Diversification in investments is key; don't put all your money in one asset class. The current market shows potential for finding deals as interest rates rise and demand shifts. Building relationships with landowners can lead to off-market opportunities and better deals. Land contracts can be beneficial for both buyers and sellers, especially for tax reasons. The conversation highlights the importance of strategic planning and smart financial decisions. Many parents are willing to do anything to help their child with autism. When traditional therapies don't bring the progress they hope for, it's easy to feel desperate—and to keep searching for the next answer. That's exactly where one devoted mom found herself. After years of struggle, she tried nearly everything—including expensive stem cell injections overseas. She and her husband even took out second mortgages to afford treatments that promised breakthroughs. But despite their best efforts, the results were temporary. Her son still struggled to connect, focus, or express how he felt. The spark she knew was inside him hadn't yet come alive. Then she found the Naturally Recovering Autism Membership Program, and everything changed.  From Desperation to Direction Instead of chasing one treatment after another, she finally had a clear, step-by-step roadmap—a natural, whole-body approach that addressed the real root causes behind her son's symptoms. Through the membership program, she learned how to: Support her son's gut health to reduce inflammation and improve focus Use safe, natural detoxification methods to clear underlying toxins that affect the brain Restore nutrient balance to strengthen communication between the brain and body And most importantly, how to bring calm, connection, and joy back into their daily lives Within months, she began seeing real, lasting progress: Her son started making eye contact, engaging with others, and showing affection—saying “I love you” for the very first time. Why “Don't Underestimate a Child with Autism” This mom's story is a reminder that every child—no matter where they begin—is capable of so much more than we're often led to believe. When the body is supported naturally and the right healing steps are followed in order, the changes can be remarkable. These are not “miracles.” They're the result of understanding how the body and brain are connected—and how to restore balance so healing can happen naturally... Some of the best conversations I have with my kids are during filler time. Not the quality time you hear hyped up – just a side conversation over breakfast, or driving to an errand, or putting together Ikea furniture.Marketing and public relations can be the same. Instead of focusing all this attention on forcing a customer to take an action, give them value in other ways and naturally bring up your product. Like this episode's guest's story about selling insurance by bringing owls and foxes to schools.  It's not an aggressive sales pitch, it's the side conversation.Which is why a key lesson for this episode's guest is – ‘don't underestimate the soft sell.'To hear the story behind that lesson, along with many more lesson-filled stories, I talked to Kelly Coulter, head of marketing, Private Advisor Group [https://www.privateadvisorgroup.com/].Private Advisor Group has $35.2 billion in advisory assets under management. What if the small, unnoticed things in your life are actually the most powerful? In this message, Pastor Fredo Ramos explores how big change often starts in the smallest ways—like a mustard seed that eventually grows into a tree. Using stories, analogies, and even Pixar's Up, you'll discover why the little choices, daily habits, and seemingly insignificant moments may matter more than you think. If you've ever wondered where meaning and growth really come from, this message might just shift how you see your own life.--Support content like this and the vision of Sandals Church at http://sandalschurch.com/support/Join our email list for content updates: http://sandalschurch.com/subscribeDownload the Sandals Church App: http://sandalschurch.com/app/If you have questions, need prayer or want to get connected, please email us anytime at online@sandalschurch.com!

The Planning Fallacy: Why We Underestimate Time and How to Avoid It

We underestimate how long projects will take—even when experience tells us otherwise. In this episode, I break down the planning fallacy: why it happens, how it derails projects, and what you can do to protect your team from unrealistic deadlines. Why do we keep convincing ourselves that this time the project will be different, when it almost never is?Every designer has been there: a bold timeline handed down from leadership, optimism in the air, and a quiet voice inside whispering, there's no way this is going to happen. That voice is usually right, and it's the planning fallacy at work.In this episode, I share a real-world story of a global team tasked with rebuilding a massive legacy app on an impossible one-year deadline. The result? Chaos, delays, and missed expectations—classic symptoms of the planning fallacy. Along the way, I connect this to famous examples like the Sydney Opera House project and explain why even seasoned experts fall into the same trap. Most importantly, I walk through practical strategies for beating the bias: using reference class forecasting, building in buffers, involving cross-functional teams in estimation, and learning from past outcomes. Because if we can see the planning fallacy for what it is, we can start making more realistic commitments—and protect our teams from burnout and broken trust.Want to keep exploring cognitive biases that impact design teams?
