However, the Taste Buds must pick one — and the pick will tell you something about where their tastes landed by the time the 1971 season reached its final stretch.The French Connection vs. Brian's SongTwo films that defined what mainstream American cinema could do with raw emotional and procedural intensity. The French Connection won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1971. It features one of the most celebrated car chases in film history and a career-defining performance from Gene Hackman as the relentless, morally compromised Popeye Doyle. Additionally, William Friedkin's direction remains a masterclass in gritty, kinetic storytelling.Brian's Song, meanwhile, hit American living rooms as a TV movie and destroyed everyone who watched it. The story of Gale Sayers and Brian Piccolo remains one of the most emotionally devastating sports films ever made. SYNOPSIS:When Agnes's mother, Clara Dipesto, arrives in Los Angeles for a visit, she has just come from a holiday in Mexico. While she was there, she was given a complimentary souvenir on a tour, which she brings as a gift for Agnes. Unbeknownst to Clara, stolen jewels have been planted in the statue to be smuggled into America.Agnes approaches Mr. Addison for a raise, as she wants to look after her mom for the duration of her visit. On their way back from brunch, Agnes and her mother are followed, and hence a Moonlighting car chase begins. Meanwhile, back at Blue Moon, the furniture is being repossessed, as the bills haven't been paid in David's absence and the employees begin to rebel. Herbert's dictatorial leadership skills are not helping the situation so the employees demand, “No work and pay!”—and walk out. David returns to Blue Moon to find Agnes and Bert in an empty office. Maddie's father turns up to speak to David. He's found out about the pregnancy and wants David to “do the right thing.” David has a fight with Agnes back at Blue Moon, which makes him realize he needs to fully explain the situation to Mr. Hayes. He rushes to the airport and boards the same plane as Mr. Hayes to explain his relationship with Maddie in real detail and to tell him how much he loves her. They resolve their differences on the plane. Mr. Hayes apologizes and gives David a check to restore Blue Moon's financial situation. The next morning, David arrives at Blue Moon being rolled in on Maddie's desk by men replacing the furniture. He makes a speech about how the business is now back operating as normal. They seek the services of a fortune teller, who uses a crystal ball in an attempt to locate David, but all she sees are bars. Following this, they begin auditioning to find a replacement. We begin to see the auditions, with men in line all dressed up in various outfits that David wore in previous episodes. David is released from solitary confinement and placed in a work gang, where his fellow convicts advise him to marry Maddie.Bert is using his new, temporary title of Blue Moon supervisor, awarded to him by David, to put the employees in line. SYNOPSIS:Agnes is so excited when she hears the news that Maddie is pregnant. Unfortunately, she can't keep it to herself for long, and tells Bert. But states in uncertain terms that he is not to tell David.But Bert can't help himself and goes straight into David's office to inform him. David races to the airport to catch a flight to Chicago. In the airport lounge, he is tricked by convict Scott “Mad Dog” Hundley, on his way to prison, and they switch places. He ends up going to jail in Hundley's place.Agnes is giving herself a facial when she realizes Bert is below her window with his Uncle Phil's band, serenading her with the song “Sexual Healing.” She lets him into her apartment and tells him that she is worried because Miss Hayes said that Mr. Addison never showed up in Chicago. They get a late start on the evening and end up at a laundromat, where they discuss their relationship, dance to the Muzak, and express their love for each other, but she still doesn't know what she wants. Maddie leaves David in the laundromat saying she needs to be alone and think. She goes home, and the next thing you know, she's on a plane, flying off into the sunset.There are three fantasy sequences in this episode. Maddie receives relationship advice from Dr. Joyce Brothers. David gets relationship advice from none other than Ray Charles while he sings and plays the piano in David's living room. Grace and Shawna interview Curtis Armstrong, who became a regular member of the Moonlighting series from season three.Curtis explains how he has reached the milestone of 50 years in the business. He began acting in theatre productions, then moved on to films and TV.Curtis is best known for his role as "Booger" in Revenge of The Nerds films, and of course, Herbert Viola, Agnes Dipesto's love interest on Moonlighting.He played Miles Dalby in the film Risky Business and, Record Producer "Ahmet Ertegun" in the film, Ray.
