This Is Hardcore Podcast is inspired by the people and culture that make things possible. Interviews, stories and plenty of insight and inspiration in the do-ers, the makers and the people pushing the culture over the last 4 decades. There is an unbelievable amount of great DIY information being discussed and will be disseminated through these conversations, in hopes of instilling a hard work ethic in the new generations and a rekindling a connection to the old ways for the old school listeners.

Listeners of This Is Hardcore Podcast that love the show mention:The This Is Hardcore Podcast is a must-listen for any hardcore music fan. Hosted by Joe Hardcore, the podcast features in-depth interviews with a diverse range of guests from the hardcore scene. From musicians to promoters, Joe brings together individuals who all have a connection to hardcore and shares their stories and experiences. As a fan myself, I've been hooked since the first episode and eagerly look forward to each new release.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the passion that Joe puts into each episode. You can tell that he genuinely cares about the music and scene, and he brings that enthusiasm to every interview. Additionally, Joe's ability to guide the conversation allows for a mix of both lighthearted and serious topics. Each episode feels unique and different from the last, but they all tie back to hardcore in a cool way.
Another great aspect of The This Is Hardcore Podcast is its informative nature. Through his interviews, Joe provides insight into not just the musicians themselves, but also the behind-the-scenes work that goes on in the hardcore scene. Whether it's learning about how shows are promoted or gaining a better understanding of the history of hardcore, this podcast offers valuable information for both longtime fans and newcomers.
While it's hard to find any major faults with The This Is Hardcore Podcast, one minor downside may be its length. The episodes tend to be on the longer side, which may not appeal to those looking for shorter listens. However, I personally appreciate the longer format as it makes my commutes or daily chores fly by.
In conclusion, The This Is Hardcore Podcast is an incredible resource for anyone interested in hardcore music. Joe Hardcore's dedication shines through each episode, providing listeners with engaging interviews and valuable insights into the scene. Whether you're craving nostalgia or wanting to discover new bands, this podcast is sure to satisfy your hardcore cravings. Give it a listen - you won't be disappointed!

Episode 170 Tom Brose of Confront After trying to dig in on the Chubby Fresh episode and not getting deep enough, we were pointed towards Tom Brose, who would eventually connect with and bring many of the great 80's Revelation Bands and more to the area. Confront was a band started by kids in high school and were invested in the straight edge bands that were growing in popularity. Having a direct line of traffic as a major stop for most touring bands, starting Confront gave Tom, Steve Murad (Mean Steve later of OLC) and others like Outface - Charlie Garriga of Civ, Derrick Green of Sepultura and later Tony Erba and Face Value ample opportunities to play with a host of out of town bands. We go deep in Cleveland hardcore from as early as Tom could recall and we walk our way up to the 1st Integrity 7" , which soon after Tom moved to DC. Tom's story is a classic and his ability to recollect details from the past allows the story to fully develop in the conversation. www.darkempire.bigcartel.com/product/pre-sale-confront-our-fight-87-90 www.instagram.com/theclevostyle www.instagram.com/crossfitdc www.instagram.com/jiujitsudc

Episode 168 Chubby Fresh A rising star in 2 bands in the 90s hardcore scene after coming up alongside the greats of the youthcrew movement, Chubby, Integrity and One Life Crew were poised to take over hardcore in a big way with Integrity on the victory roster and One Life Crew a few years later. Controversy would turn the fortune into folly and the chaotic, dramatic story of the bands unravel with beefs spreading across the midwest to NY and back. I try to delve into some aspects of the bands, Chubbys own background and hear his perspective on everything that went down. instagram & facebook - One_Life_Crew www.oneliferecords.com

Episode 163 Frankie Poupolo of Wisdom In Chains With This Is Hardcore just 3 weeks away, we bring the new member of Wisdom In Chains onto the show to talk about his excitement to be a part of the band. Frankie Poupolo another South Shore HC legend started coming down to our area with Death Before Dishonor. He would later start a project called Trust In Few, which Richie Krutch was a part of. Frankie is a family man and had to opt out of touring with DBD to work full time in a Union Sound/Stage Hand in the Boston area. He is absolutely one of the funniest guys you can run into as well as one of the most talented self taught musicians that I've ever met. From the minute I hit record, I had a blast talking to my old friend about his backstory, his excitement for the new role in WiC and what to expect next. I only wish I had more time to go deeper into the story, but he's a working man and took the podcast on his lunch break. Episode 162 James Aloisio.of Ends Of Sanity and Unchained Mgmt. We had James on earlier this year to talk about Overcome Fest but I wanted more time to go over his story. From Long Island and some early bands, he would rise to be one of the more influential behind the scenes booking agent and later manager to some of the most talked about Hardcore and Punk bands of the current day. This is a great story about just finding opportunities, growing as a person and learning new skills and having the balls to give up a day job and just go for it. https://www.instagram.com/jamesxaloisio https://www.instagram.com/unchained_hq https://www.instagram.com/endsofsanity Opening Track of the Episode Hollow Ground "Disgraced https://www.eventbrite.com/e/nate-glover-memorial-show-tickets-916790925337 https://www.instagram.com/cancercarembfdn

From his earliest days at the Anthrax Club, to founding Forced Reality, one of the early great American Oi! bands. Pete would eventually join 100 Demons in the mid 2000s, where they would release one of the genre defining metalcore records of that decade via Deathwish Inc. Episode 131 Tony Rettman . Author of NYHC and other books Growing up the kid brother of the City Gardens DJ is a sick way to walk into hardcore punk. His first show he wasn't out of grade school. Over time he would go from writing zines to writing freelance articles for multiple magazines. Eventually he would work with Revelation Records on Why be something you're not, focusing on the early Detroit scene. Later he would work on the collection of interviews for NYHC - 1980-1990 which would end up being released on Bazillion Points. His latest was Straight Edge - A Clear headed Hardcore Punk history also on Bazillion points. This was a fun one with alot of insight in how the writing side works on articles, zines and books. Episode 130 Nancy Barile Nancy Barile is an Philadelphia Hardcore Original. She wrote a book "I'm Not Holding Your Coat" on her path to punk rock and beyond featuring some of the iconic early moments of Philadelphia's burgeoning Hardcore scene. Her story is a great first hand account of the early days of what we would eventually inherit as our own scene. So many great stories that I'll leave her to tell it in the book and on here. Episode 125 Some thoughts that come from greater minds than mine. With the summer comes everyone too busy to come on a podcast so I had been pulling together some ideas when Norman Brannon's relaunch of Anti-Matter as a substack spurned some real energy into my brain for the first time in awhile in a way that only someone like Norm and his words could inspire. For those of you who don't know what a substack is, its a way writers can offer their time and craft and be supported by those who wish to support them. www.antimatter.substack.com Follow and support the relaunch of one of the most pivotal zines of the 90's hardcore zines For most of episode I try to pull together some ideas from my library to engage you all to think further on the subject of hardcore and selling out etc, but I don't feel like I put it together tight enough. In time I'll get better at it, but it was fun to chat with you all for a bit.
