MAY. 7, 2025Why can't we work together? (4)"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Eph 4:3 NIVA lady told her friend, "My husband and I have a very happy marriage. There's nothing I wouldn't do for him, and there's nothing he wouldn't do for me. And that's the way we go through life-doing nothing for each other!" We smile, but that's not so funny when it's true. That attitude paves the road to disaster in marriage, business, church, personal relationships, and everywhere else. Often people join a team for their own advantage— they want supporting players so they can receive all the accolades. But ultimately, that attitude not only hurts them, but it also hurts the people they work with and hinders the results they otherwise could have had.President Woodrow Wilson asserted: "You are not here merely to make a living. You are here to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and to impoverish yourself if you forget the errand." Here is a true statement, if ever there was one: When you use people, exploit them, and take advantage of them, you inevitably fail in life. Is it easy to work with others and always get along? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. That's why Paul writes, "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." You have to work at it. When someone criticizes, offset it with a compliment. When someone complains, find something to be thankful for. When someone comes across as self-centered, remind them that the collective goal you're striving for is greater than any one individual. Why can't we work together? You are here to enrich the world.Share This DevotionalSend us a textSupport the showChanging Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!

The financial loss our industry faced when touring came to a halt during COVID-19 has brought attention to the importance of the long glossed over live sector. From here, NIVA (the National Independent Venue Association) was born, where Jamie Loeb, SVP of Marketing for Nederlander, worked tirelessly to help secure the biggest arts grant program in history from Congress – $16 billion of aid used to keep promoters, festivals and venues afloat. In this episode, we speak with Loeb on her work at NIVA & Nederlander, the career journey that brought her here, and the live event marketing process. Loeb zeros in on the power of social media for marketers & artists alike in targeting specific fan demographics, and explores how this knowledge can be translated into creating a live concert audience.

Monet arkiset syömisen tavat ovat vahvasti kulttuuriin juurtuneita, eikä niiden muuttaminen ole aivan yksinkertaista. Helsingin yliopiston kuluttajatutkimuksen professori Mari Niva erittelee tekstissään, millaisiin asioihin ruoka ja syöminen kytkeytyvät ja mitä ilmaston kannalta kestävään ruokavalioon siirtyminen vaatii yksilöltä ja yhteiskunnalta. Nivan teksti “Kuluttajat, kulttuuri ja ruoan kestävyysmurros” on alun perin julkaistu tiedekustantamo Gaudeamuksen ja Helsingin yliopiston Tiedekulman yhteistyössä suunnittelemassa Mitä ilmasto muuttaa? -pokkarissa. Julkaisemme kirjan tekstejä ääniversioina. Mitä ilmasto muuttaa? Elämää lämpenevässä maailmassa -kirjassa (Gaudeamus 2024) tutkijat kertovat, millaisten murrosten keskellä elämme ja mitä on odotettavissa. Simon Taylor's back in action and ready to break down some of the hottest up and comers in the fintech world with Alex. First, he and Alex discuss Niva, the global business identity platform using AI to help lenders and fintech companies onboard business customers through a Know Your Business (KYB) process. Focused primarily on growth in Brazil and Mexico, the platform claims it can bring the onboarding process for business customers down to 10 minutes. KYB growth is hot in the US— but can KYB hold the same growth velocity in Latin America? Then, it's the company that sounds like a milk alternative, but we promise isn't. Meet OatFi, the embeddable Lending-as-a-Service platform for capital loans. Not everyone has a Shopify-sized business to build their own lending process— so how is OatFi's API helping smaller B2Bs to underwrite their capital loans? Plus, Alex and Simon also discuss Tapi, the Stripe for Latin American countries. How is Tapi filling a major wedge in the LATAM market? And how much does brand really matter when you're trying to tap into market like this? They also discuss Aven's series D funding and explain how the company is helping to refinance debt at a lower rate using home equity, before manifesting a few fintech ideas. Isn't there a better infrastructure where regulatory insights can be shared? At the end of each week, Mike Hosking takes you through the big-ticket items and lets you know what he makes of it all. Elections: 8/10 Democracy in action is always good, especially in a world where democracy doesn't reach all corners and not everyone gets a say. The Crusaders: 3/10 A year to forget and a dynasty undone. Plenty of work-ons as they say, but that old hackneyed "sack the coach" thing reminds us how trigger happy and superficial we can be. The Trump fundraising record: 6/10 Does that mean crime pays? Labour asking for your tax cut: 2/10 Surely in Opposition when you are not actually doing anything, you can keep the stupidity down to a minimum. The Māori wards submissions: 3/10 Yet more angsting around race. We already have the best system and it's called democracy, and anyone can run, and everyone gets a free and fair go. Try it. It works. The hunger striker: 0/10 He had three demands and not one was met, nor were they ever going to be, obviously. Which simply reminds us that the self-absorbed know no bounds. The Radio Awards: 8/10 ZB station of the year, Niva newsreader of the year, the people who produce this were producers of the year, and so it went. It turns out in a media landscape littered recently with casualties there are still quite a few who have it together, deliver the goods, make the profits and revel in a future that's pretty bright.
ParentingAces - The Junior Tennis and College Tennis Podcast
Welcome to Season 13 Episode 7 of the ParentingAces Podcast, a proud member of the Tennis Channel Podcast Network. Renowned coach, Rick Macci, is back alongside his former student and current neuromuscular neurologist (more info on that in the pod!), Dr. Nivedita Uberoi Jerath aka Dr. Niva, to discuss their new book, BILLION DOLLAR MIND (https://amzn.to/3tMs021). Last year, you had the opportunity to hear from Rick about his coaching philosophy and approach to junior tennis development (https://parentingaces.com/articles/its-a-journey-ft-rick-macci/). In this episode, we delve deeper into the coaching of mindset and how that can impact a junior player's ability to perform at their best on and off the court. This new collaborative effort between coach and player/doctor combines Dr. Niva's neurological expertise with Macci's renowned coaching techniques, offering readers a practical roadmap to fortify their minds and overcome mental obstacles. BILLION DOLLAR MIND explores the intrinsic link between the mind and personal success, connecting fundamental neurology principles with the teachings that have shaped the careers of tennis stars like Venus and Serena Williams, Sofia Kenin, Andy Roddick, Jennifer Capriati, and Maria Sharapova under Rick Macci's guidance. The book aims to help readers: - Develop a profound understanding of the brain, senses, and the significance of thoughts. - Break free from thinking loops and negative thought patterns. - Harness the power of positive affirmations for a resilient mindset. - Cultivate self-love, practice gratitude, and build self-confidence. - Instill self-discipline, enhance focus, and nurture inner strength. The National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) was founded at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic as a lifeline for small live music houses, pulling together federal grant money to ensure that venues would remain afloat until it was safe for artists to tour again. Since then, the organization has shifted focus to develop a member services suite, tackle major issues like the ticketing debacle, and address the needs of venues on a local level. We spoke with NIVA's Executive Director, Stephen Parker about the organization's history and recent advocacy work, as well as the variety of issues indie venues still face.
'68 frontman Josh Scogin is our guest this week on The MetalSucks Podcast! We discuss the new album Yes And… that is out right now, including how its title is based on the improv technique and how improv plays a part in the band's music and live performance. Apart from the new music, we also discuss his preferred method to address confrontation in modern times, how to adapt to conversations where people that you disagree with see you as an enemy, and the problem with presenting facts from unreliable sources to win arguments. There's also some chat about frustrating moments during the pandemic and touring with Thrice as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Artist and The Ambulance. Petar and Sylvia discuss the “On The Road Again” program by Live Nation, the response by NIVA on what this will do to independent music venues, Greg Puciato's claims on the money on the table for a Dillinger Escape Plan reunion, Ben Weinman shooting this claims down as false and hinting at some possible tension between its ex-members.
