Episode 51. Bob Wilson. PAHC Legend In The Making. Bob Wilson may be one of the most passionate people in hardcore today. From his early teens he was obsessed with hardcore punk. Over time he would pull together his first band Let Down, an angry straight edge band from the suburbs of Philadelphia. They were absolutely the definition of "in your face" and antagonistic. This was the path for him for all that would come later. He would end up being in multiple bands, Mother Of Mercy, Beware and Malice At The Palace and his newest band Off The Tracks. Through touring he would eventually start helping bands play in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Later when he moved here, he began booking shows in the city as well. I mentored him and have always had his back, through personal life and with promoting and booking. After he moved to Florida, he would start FYA Fest with Sam from Triple B records. After 2 fests, Bob would take FYA from Orlando to Tampa and since 2015 has run it on his own. Bob Wilson through FYA Fest and now his own small label Rebirth Records, has mastered the art of finding young bands and put them in the proper position to gain attention. With his relationships with small labels etc, he's helped dozens of bands become nationally known. He is the embodiment of the DIY spirit in hardcore and has a passion that has outlasted most of his early naysayers. Hardcore Punk is in a better place because of him and this episode is both fun, personal and very enjoyable for me as he is one of my very closest friends on the planet. www.instagram.com/fyafest www.twitter.com/fyafest www.rebirthrecords.bigcartel.com Off The Tracks www.fromwithinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/off-the-tracks-demo Malice At The Palace www.maliceatthepalace.bandcamp.com BeWare www.backtobackrecords.bandcamp.com/album/beware-wont-get-the-best-of-me Mother Of Mercy www.motherofmercy.bandcamp.com/ Let Down www.letxdown.bandcamp.com/

Shield is probably known as owner and mastermind of Rebirth Records, but his journey began way back in 1998 when he started the collaboration with Bacci Productions, remixing for the legendary American label Easy Street. After working as A&R and promoter for Oxyd Records, in 2006 Shield set up his own record label, Rebirth Records, which has surely grown up over the years into one of the most respected Italian independent labels. www.beatport.com/label/rebirth/4924 1 AtalaiA - Enceladus BREAKING TUNES: 2 Monolink - Rearrange My Mind (Nicole Moudaber Remix) 3 Edu Imbernon, Los Suruba - Balear (Hyenah Remix) MIX: 4 Kidnap - Ursa Minor 5 Digitalism - Utopia (H.O.S.H Remix) 6 Eelke Kleijn - The Terminal (Sébastien Léger Remix) INTERVIEW & GUEST MIX: Shield. Booking: http://www.timesartists.com/oliverdollar The past few years have seen Oliver Dollar’s star rise to be a recognisable staple within house music. But it was 2011 when this Berlin-based producer gained the attention he deserved in the form of his first Beatport #1 “Doin’ Ya Thang” – released on Play It Down; Made To Play’s sister label. “Doin’ Ya Thang” remained at the #1 spot for an astounding 5 weeks and continued to sit in the top ten selling over 40k downloads to date, also topping the Resident Advisor chart. This success was quickly followed up with monster-cuts ‘Granulated Soul’ and ‘Hoes’, both again on Play It Down. 2014 was another huge year for Oliver, dropping the ‘$’ sign to become simply Oliver Dollar. He released his biggest smash yet as he reunited with Swiss Jazz House aficionado Jimi Jules for their much- hyped ‘Pushin’ on’ released on the mighty Defected. Not only did it give Dollar #1 status on Beatport again, it was also a huge cross-over hit featuring in the UK charts (peaking at #15). After the tracks’ on-going success Oliver Dollar and Jimi Jules continue to work together on various projects including a remix of Freaks’ Wake Up on Rebirth Records. Other notable Collaborations in 2014 included releasing with Cajmere on his label Cajual and also being part of his Green Velvet album on Relief Records ‘Dance To My Beat’ which was a huge success. He also remixed Romathony’s ‘Let Me Show You Love’ for Glasgow Underground which turned heads, and the ‘Made For The Night Compilation’ with Jesse Rose soon followed, which was accompanied by a world tour and global shows with Defected. 2015 saw Oliver continue to fly as he launched his own label ‘Industry Standard’. The first release ‘Shout Away’ was a collaboration with Chuck Daniels, a dark-disco club-ready track that was made in Detroit. Of the label Oliver comments ‘I always wanted to do a label…The vision is to have crazy quality control, I don’t want to put out a release every month.” Other highlights in 2015 included his debut at the much-respected Movement festival in Detroit, a remix for the mighty Matthias Tanzmann on Moon Harbour records and a fresh collaboration with legendary Robert Owens and fellow German Tensnake. The Dollar wasn’t any slouch in 2016, with a heavy international touring schedule he has still put releases in the right places remixing Green Velvet’s legendary cut ‘Flash’ for Relief Records, an original releases titled ‘Go Down’ on his home label base Play It Down, and a collaboration with Kenny Dope titled ‘Muggin’ on Kenny’s legendary Dopewax imprint. Then 2017 saw a selection of releases & remixes on Play It Down, Yoruba, Arms & Legs, Kling Klong. Finally, his much-anticipated debut album is due to drop in 2018 which will deliver a selection of killer cuts that he’s been crafting for well over a year, featuring some formidable collaborating artists. With an album world tour being scheduled from the release you know Oliver will continue to keep pushin’ on another day for another dollar!

#ReclaimEDM Podcast 02 features unique soulful deep-house tracks from around the world, mixed live by DJ nomsta. (www.nomsta.net), featuring tracks by Chewy Rubs, Dubble D presents Moodymanc, Johannes Albert, Vincenzo, Bassart, Michael Mayer, Joe Goddard, MANTU, Salif Keita x Megablast, KERINNIS, Anja Schneider, La Fleur, Gezender and L Cio. The mix starts with the tempo of 116 bpm, as most upbeat funk tracks would similarly be, opening with "Get Down" a remix of the 1978 Gene Chandler song by disco-nu-disco re-editor/producer Chewy Rubs whose most recent release was on Yam Who's Midnight Riot label, I let the funk flow keeping all the tracks strictly at 116 bpm for a steady deepburn groove. Mixing by looping in the claps and vocal one shot of 2007 old-but-gold 20:20 Vision release of "Wiggle" by Manchester jazz drummer house producer Moodymanc aka Dubble D, the track has this vintage deep house, perfect to follow with more of the 80s-electro Chicago feeling by Johannes Albert's Hip Edits of the 1987 Mickey Oliver song "Never Let Go" featuring the vocals of Shanna Jay with updated kicks and bassline. 20-something years old Italian Corrado Bucci is a bit of a wonder child/posterboy of the jazzy-soulful house circles with his sophisticated productions seeing pressings from top quality labels like Compost, Defected, Local Talk and BBE Music, who also does A&R and scouting now for Japanese label Rebirth Records where he signed his debut to in 2012. Soulful deep house Berliner Vincenzo gave an uplifting remix to Bucci's "Sumthin'" which is a great filler to bridge to Dortmund/Berlin label Raving Society's dubby synthy lush electro release of "Innstruments" by fellow German Bassart. Indie-electro band Hot Chip's member and vocalist Joe Goddard has been putting out solo material since around 2009 and has formed a bit of a production partnership with Kompakt Records' co-owner and veteran Michael Mayer, so it's not surprising to see him providing a remix to Goddard's latest release on Domino "Children". I had to play a cheeky bootleg of Malinese "Golden Voice of Africa" Salif Keita's ode to women and feminism in Africa, "Moussolou", which also features female Malinese singer Oumou Sangare. Osunlade did an official Yoruba Soul mix of the song but it has a more organic feel although it's till a deep house track, I like the club feel of Megablast's re-edit which is really more like a remix. A bit of trivia about "Wassoulou sound" of Mali - since their independence in the 60's, the Wassoulou region of Mali has produced many strong female musicians creating new music based on their traditional dances and rhythms combined with the djembe drums and a harp-like instrument invented by local youths during this period called the kamalengoni, which gave birth to music unique to Wassoulou that communicates a sense of youthful rebellion and freedom. 2nd half of the mix goes deeper into deeper house and quite accidentally stringing a list of Berlin based artists together. I'm very excited about Berlin-based Get Physical artist MANTU aka Manuel Overbeck who has started his own label Raving Society and has signed some outstanding releases of late. His very own "Underwater Solution" has been described as melancholic but I think it's just the deep jazzy chords and bassline doing its thing. I also got sent a promo EP that includes a dreamy spoken word deep house number "Poetry Jam" by another Berlin producer Kerinnis. Up next, is "Secret Escapes" by yet another Berliner but a veteran, Anja Schneider from her first album after 9 years on her new label SoUS after leaving Mobilee the label she found more than a decade ago. La Fluer is a Swedish-now-living-in Berlin and has this new deep tech house track "Femton" out on the legendary club-label Watergate where he is also one of the resident DJs. The track was also featured in their Nov 2017 Watergate XV compilation. To finish, a remix of "Duhka" by a Brazilian producer L Cio for another Brazilian Gezender, who said that the track was inspired by zen music, mantras and Buddhist songs and was trying to "bring it to sensibile and sensory techno with spiritual, philosophical and political questions". Now, that's what I called deep. Tracklist / Chewy Rubs - Get Down - Chewy Rubs Extendedit Dubble D presents Moodymanc - Wriggle - Original Mix Johannes Albert / Hip Edits - Never Throw - Re-edit of Mickey Oliver & Shanna Jay's Never Let Go Corrado Bucci - Sumthin´ - Vincenzo Remix Bassart - Innstruments - Original Mix Joe Goddard - Children - Michael Mayer Remix Salif Keita - Moussolou - Megablast unofficial Remix MANTU - Underwater Solution KERINNIS - Poetry Jam Anja Schneider - Secret Escapes - Original Mix La Fleur - Femton - Original Mix Gezender - Duhkha - L_Cio Remix The mix is available on all major music social platforms. The Podcast will be out now with the interview and one week later without the interview on Soundcloud. So we give you enough time to learn more about the person behind the music. As we know, the scene has been dominated from male artists as long as we can remember. But there are quite a lot of really great female artists that we would like to present to you in the future. This time Leah Floyeurs will be the fourth female artist on the show. I chatted with Leah Floyeurs over the weekend about what makes her tick. The London based musician which was raised and born in Australia was actually trying to start a career as a journalist In 1993 she moved from Australia to the UK and worked in a recordstore and as a pianist. But somehow in 1993 a party has changed the course of her plan and she never moved back to her hometown Brisbane / Australis. In 1996 / 97 she started playing records in London and after a short period of time , also in several countries far outside the UK. In 2011 she finally quit her full-time job and put her focus on the music. She’s been inspired by artists like Marc Forshaw, John Heckle ,Heiroglyphic Being,Shackleton,Eduardo de la Calle, Fred P, Franklin de Costa and Grimes In the same year she launched her own radioshow called “Leah with sound” at Timeline Music for the past 5 years. Leah is a very open minded artist with a wide range of genre. She is a resident on the well known Freerotation festival at Hay-on-Wyein in the UK. And also a resident at the club 50 arc in London. In cooperation with DJ Alison Marks, she had already released under the name “Wallflower! on the Italian label Rebirth Records and has already been remixed by Larry Heard. Justin Harris has been active as a DJ since 1987 and has been producing since 1994 in collaboration with Luke Solomon and under the names Robotic Movement, Free soul (with Diesel) and Oliloqui for labels like Classic (Luke Solomon and Derrick Carter), Phono, 20/20 Vision, and SSR. Justin Harris’ illustrious musical career kicked off way back in 1987 when he was a regular DJ at the first pioneering Acid House events in the UK. He later went on to become one half of the DJ partnership North & South (with Nigel Casey, House of 909), who were infamous on the Warehouse and free party / DiY circuit throughout the UK and Europe in the early 90's… a blur follows of free parties, thrills, pills, and belly laughs..read on.. Upon moving to London in 1993, Justin turned his technical dexterity to the studio and began making some of the most innovative and left-field house music around. Seventeen years ago, he teamed up with Luke Solomon to create the ground breaking Freaks project. Freaks have over 80 productions under their belt, including remixes for artists such as Revlon9, Matthew Herbert, The Good Books, Kassabian, Soft Cell, The Human League, Derrick Carter, Greenskeepers, Tiefschwarz and Damon Albarn to name a few… and have themselves recorded for such esteemed labels as Perlon, Wally's Groove World, Classic, Playhouse, International Deejay Gigolo, Silver Network, Rebirth Records, Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels and of course the legendary Music For Freaks (MFF) and Classic Recordings. We asked Justin what House music means to him, to which he responded; “Don't want to sound cheesy but for me It's a lifestyle..... Not an hour goes past in any one day where it doesn't play some kind of a part in my life... It's quite simply all encompassing. House Music picked me up more than 25 years ago in the middle of what was a deep recession in the UK , it strapped me in and took me and a generation on a journey that is still going strong. I have literally devoted my working (and most of my social) life to House Music. What it has given me back far outweighs anything I could ever put in to it.” Justin describes the House Gangster sound as; “Bumping, jacking and absolutely taking no prisoners..... I've known Sneak and his sound since the mid 90's when I first met him in Chicago (at Derrick Carter's place with Luke Solomon after a mad night of partying) and I've hung out and heard him play many times since .. his music always was about 'that' sound and it's great to see it get the recognition and respect it deserves.” Justin continues to go onto say; “To me this movement means a solid and tight global crew. Whether producers, DJ's, artists, promoters, house music lovers, party heads, hustlers, record labels (and the list goes on).... We are all united by a love of House Music and therefore part of the same family.........in short it's all about the music.” Asking Justin how he compiled his mix, he says; “I just imagined myself at one of your parties, took a bunch of records and CD's to select from that I would (and in the future will) play there and went for it.... had a great time doing it too.” Explaining how it represents him as an artist, he tells us; As an artist this mix represents my interpretation and understanding of the House Gangster sound and the vibe I get from it. It has tracks in it that date back more than 20 years as well as some pretty amazing new music with loads in between. I'd say it's a pretty good cross section of what moves me and has influenced my taste over the years.” Finally, giving a special mention about this mix, Justin comments, “I'm totally stoked to be asked to do it... There are so many of my musical heroes who have supplied a Gangstercast and it's dope to be part of this movement.” Justin has also included in his Gangstercast mix, his very own ‘Random Jazz’ – the title track of his EP , his debut release on the I’m A House Gangster imprint, on 13th April. Here is the full tracklisting:    1)Demuir - Childish Games - Treasured Grooves 2)O & A - Feel The Rhythm - Play It Down 3)Ninetoes - On Demand -  Play It Down 4)Natural Rhythm - Track for Mark - Natural Rhythm Music 5)Greenbay Jackers - Ride Yours Here - 294 records 6)Hector - Haunted - Tsuba Records 7)JT Donaldson - Vanguard Night - Vista Recordings 8)Justin Harris - Random Jazz vol - I'm A House Gangster 9)Natural Rhythm - Jazz Boogie - Natural Rhythm Music 10)Boe & Zak - Looking for Love - Classic Music Company 11)DJ Sneak (Sneaky traxxII) - Tribal Rhythm - Defiant 12)Phil Hooton - Afro Phunk - Phuture Rhythms 13)MadCut Up - Unknown White Label  14)Justin Harris - Got Time To Move (David Duriez Remix) - Something Different 15)Dave Aju - Nu Threads (Freaksnuthreadsspeakeasymix) - Circus Recordings 16)Madness Last night - Lars Behrenroth - Deeper Shades Recordings 17)Evren Furtuna - Love Is Killing Me - Kolour Recordings 18)Michel Kleis - Gostech - Rebirth Recordings 19)The Players - Easy 2 Jam (Romains Jackin Out Dub) - Metro Trax 20)Kid Enigma - Unconditional - I'm A House Gangster 21)Ananda Project - Cascades Of Colour - Justin Harris Wamdue redoo 22)Michel Kleis - Marvinello - Rebirth Recordings
