One person making a big difference Marine Institute Maui Ocean Center Maui Nui Marine Resource Council Project Coyote One Reef Micronesia Women Back to Work Here are three takeaways from the episode: 1. Everyone has their own way of being persuaded to take action – one message does not fit everyone. Find the one that can persuade someone to make a change for the greater good. 2. There are so many different ways to take action – like eating organically, composting, reducing our use of plastic, or supporting not-for-profit groups. It's all of us individually having a positive impact through our choices and actions. 3. Women trying to return to work after a break face challenges and barriers – a system for diversity hiring needs to include these women! According to the UN, our lifestyles are responsible for an estimated two thirds of global emissions and our individual choices have the power to reduce total global emissions by up to 70% by the year 2050. https://www.un.org/en/actnow/facts-and-figures 2. In this episode we speak with Ikaika Kaulukukui and Greg Champion who, along with many others, have worked tirelessly to ensure that this wave contributes to the local community in a variety of ways and ultimately finds a place of belonging in Wai Kai.

Tristen Ikaika, also known as the Ring King, launched his ring brand in 2017. It all started with a spoon he took from his parents' house in Orem, handcrafting it into a one-of-a-kind ring that soon grabbed the attention of his friends and family. After launching his site, Tristen dropped the ring collection that have sold out in hours. His unisex designs are inspired by his worldwide travels and emotions dealing with his father's serious health issues. This inspired his best-selling SAD-BOI ring. Tristen's unique pieces are more than just rings, they leave a lasting impression that customers can connect with. After being featured on Shark Tank and receiving an offer, Tristen was able to use his rapid success to help pay off his parents' home, all because of the spoon he “stole” from that very same home year before. Tristen Ikaika shares how he started his thriving ecommerce business and his thoughts on how to be an influencer the right way. Tristen talks about his love for travel and the growing desire he had to do something other than spend time studying for classes he had no real interest in or use for. Along with his thoughts on keeping ego and self worth leveled, Tristen shares how being quick to start and slow to quit has proven valuable in the pursuit of personal and business success. This episode is a refreshing and enjoyable look at real life entrepreneurship. Don't miss it! Highlighted Quote “Just Start” Just start! go for it... Make a list of what you want to do and then break that down into every tiny detail and take that first step, even if it's googling how to sell something online. Just start and go, because you'll run into dead ends, and you'll go back and you'll figure it out. But if you don't start creating that momentum you won't get there. I think people need to get more comfortable with the idea of failure than the idea of regret. To me just going for it and it not working fast is way better than having to live with that regret.
