" As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." Prov 27:17 We have felt led to share our Bible study conversations with the world. We invite you to join us as we search the Scriptures and talk through some of Christianity's most uncomfortable, controversial or misunderstood topics. Our goa…
There's no mincing of words in the word of God. And it tells us, "thy way, oh God, is in the sanctuary," so it's telling us there's a pattern of his way that we can learn and know from the sanctuary. Join us for an anointed message illustrating some valuable lessons the Lord has given us that help us walk in greater understanding as we journey through the tabernacle's significant and meaningful symbolism. At Mount Sinai, Moses was instructed by God to build the tabernacle. And every detail needed to be followed precisely according to the pattern that God showed Moses because this pattern was a shadowy form of something greater that God wanted to teach us.
I felt the Lord invite us to consider the patriarchs and really how Jesus is connected to the patriarchs of the faith. After Jesus was resurrected, he met some disciples walking along the road and he said, " everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled and then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures." What does it mean that He says "everything written about me in the law of Moses?" This is the first five books of the Bible, the Torah. He's not explicitly mentioned there, is he? Not directly, but he is between the lines, he is the word, and he is revealed in the Law of Moses. And we're going to be looking at , the Gospel according to Genesis.
How is it that we can't seem to model the reality of God the way the saints of old did?
" I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith. that God has entrusted once for all time, to his holy people. I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches saying that God's marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives." He's saying, listen, there are some people that have come into the body of Christ and they're defiling the church. They're teaching another Jesus Christ. They're teaching the hyper-grace that we have experienced in our society for so long, people have abused the grace of God and continued in their sinful ways. The Bible says that we are to be careful becasue these people are among the people of God, causing many to fall away.
John gives certain tests for how we can discover if we or other professing believers are true Christians. How do you know when you've really got true faith? He tells us about four tests that we can find in scripture.
these Corinthians, They were falling back into some of their old ways of thinking. And so Paul says, Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you, I couldn't talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk to you as though you belong to this world or as though you were infants in Christ. I had to feed you with milk, not solid food, because you weren't ready for anything stronger. And. Guess what? That's my own word, but it says, And you still aren't ready, you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You're jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn't that prove that you're controlled by your sinful nature? Aren't you living like people of the world? When one of you says, I'm a follower of Paul and another says, I follow Apollos. Aren't you just acting like people of the world? After all, who was Apollos? Who was Paul? We are only God's servants through whom you believed the good news. Each of us did the work that the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. Paul is saying, essentially, don't you see that both are needed? If you're going to win people to Christ, it has to be simple and pared down to the essentials. But then, if you're going to grow in Christ, there has to be much deeper teaching. You have to go on to deeper things, and it takes the simple presentation of the gospel to plant the seed, but it takes a much deeper rational presentation of Christian truth to make a person grow and be watered. Though all the time, it's only God who enables the whole thing to grow.
One of the most timely and important messages of our time. When God doesn't hold on to you, what you really want to do, that flesh, that sinful nature we're born into, it comes out. And, it's not very good. Godless people don't like God's way of living. And that's within all of us. We have all a fallen nature with wrong desires. "Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another." Israel is in the most difficult position they've been in since they've been founded as a nation. The message of the restoration of Israel is so critical, we happen to be in the epistle of Romans and I felt from the Holy Spirit, we need to Blow the trumpet we need to Release this message so that we can understand God's heart.
Bible study conversation led by Krista Smith on the lessons from the Book of Joshua.
You don't have because you don't ask. And then the things that you're asking for, you're asking for just to consume them into your own lives. You're asking for the this and the that, the trivial things. But the weightier things, the more important things, the critical things...you have left them on the table and God is saying, come and ask me. "Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish." Jeremiah 33:3 AMP
We are in the season of the restoration of all things as the Lord is soon coming for His Bride the Church, both Jew and Gentile. A Bride who has made herself ready. Revelation 19:7 The Gentiles shall come to You From the ends of the earth and say, “Surely our fathers have inherited lies, Worthlessness, and unprofitable things.” That's the NKJV let's look at the same verse in the NLT translation: “Nations from around the world will come to you (who is you? It's Israel, the people of God) and say, “Our ancestors left us a foolish heritage, for they worshiped worthless idols. What does that mean? I want to ask you to stay with me through this video. I believe it may be one of the most important history lessons you'll ever hear about the church. As the scriptures foretold, I want to show you that the church has inherited lies, doctrine, and practices that seem innocent but are in total opposition to the Word of God. This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that's not the road we want!' Jeremiah 6:16 NLT "Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Join Reverend Bernie Dorsey as he shares and testifies of the mighty work of God in our day and age to set the captive free. "In my name, they will cast out demons." This is something that honestly, we really should see more of as believers. We should see more deliverance, because it's actually the first thing Jesus says will be one of the signs that follow those who believe that in his name, demons will be cast out. And so that, that kind of gets me wondering why don't we see it here very often? It does happen in America but not nearly as much as I think we've seen it in parts of East Africa and some other parts of the world. The church seems to, in so many ways be irrelevant in the realm of power anymore. Why are we not seeing miracles happen? When's the last time most churches saw a miracle? When's the last time most churches saw God demonstrate His power over darkness right in front of their eyes, right? If we believe that Jesus is who He says He is then the word is saying that one of the signs that follow would be this kind of sign. And think that we should be walking in a little more expectation of seeing God demonstrate his power over darkness. It's something that we should look with expectation for him to do. Just like we look for healing miracles, just like we look for other things. Deliverance is something that, as believers, I think we should expect to see. "And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen." - Mark 16:20
The Bible says, be perfect because I am perfect. We cannot perfect ourselves, but the suffering helps us in God uses it, to perfect us in Him. So Jesus' way must become our way. It all begins with self-denial, and that's exactly what Jesus did. Let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God. That is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to him. Amen. Self-denial. You must say no to your ego. What you want, what you like, what you think, and what you feel does not matter. God has a big plan and a purpose, and that is to redeem mankind and reconcile us to Himself. God's desire from the very beginning has been to reveal himself to man. Jesus said to his disciples, if anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me for whoever desires to save his life will lose it. And whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. What is a man profited if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?
You who are here, you've been serving the Lord for a long time. People look at you and they call you the believers. the Christians, the men and women of God, the servants of the Most High God. And in order to get there, there is a requirement that you believe you are a believer. But my question to you is, What does it mean to believe? Yeah, I know you know the answer, but let's, let's take it a little step further. Jesus came on the scene and he was preaching the kingdom of God, new dynamics altogether. John the Baptist laid the foundation for him. Jesus came and he was unpacking the kingdom of God, but he was not only just preaching like John the Baptist. He was bringing the manifestation of the kingdom of God within the territories that he visited. And so the miracles came, the signs and the wonders were there. In heaven, there is no sickness. And so when he came, no sickness should be there. This is the reality of the kingdom of heaven. But then he challenged the believers. Hey, believe on the son that was sent. You will be saved. Believe. Now, what was he expecting of them? Join Pastor Shayne Payne of Elim Global Mission located in Staten Island, New York. Every time The Lord gave us his commandments, every time He told us to practice certain behaviors, what was the purpose of that behavior? It was so that His people would live in holiness...in purification, and so that His presence could be amongst his people.
"...these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” -Mark 16:17-18
Why Israel? Why should we care? As the church, what should we do? Engage in a biblical and thoughtful presentation and discussion around God's heart and plan for Israel. Consider how the church should prepare for this season as we draw near to the end of the age.
God has promised that He will judge the world in righteousness. He cannot judge the world in righteousness if He doesn't clearly state what His righteous standards, statutes and His commandments are. We can look at that patterns in Scripture an realize that if we are ignorant, it is by our own doing and by our own desire to be ignorant because we choose not to read about the statues and the commandments of God. Join minister Terence Aponshine in a thoughtful message regarding the goodness and severity of God. “Notice how God is both kind and severe. He is severe toward those who disobeyed, but kind to you if you continue to trust in his kindness. But if you stop trusting, you also will be cut off.” Romans 11:22 NLT
