Welcome to Episode 9 of Starflation, the podcast that says 5 stars has never been enough! The concept? Prior to January 2017, we had been using the long standing and well known 5-star rating system for rating wrestling matches. That all changed when Dave Meltzer gave the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 11 SIX stars, before going SEVEN stars on Omega/Okada IV in June 2018, giving us the 7-star scale we now use. But that poses a question, what about the hundreds of matches rated the full 5 and above before June 2018? Don't worry, we've got you covered!. In this episode, the boys look at a rematch of a match we were surprised wasn't on the list itself by taking a look at Jushin Thunder Liger vs. The Great Sasuke from Day 8 of NJPW Summer Struggle 1994.
Imagine being accused of murdering your whole family… In this episode of Wrasslin' Raw, the boys bear witness to the hottest crowd in the history of the podcast. Matches featuring Mankind, Hunter Hearst Helmsley, the Great Sasuke, and Taka Michinoku all provide solid entertainment, while Vader versus the Undertaker goes nowhere. The crowd hits a fever pitch for the Stampede match, because you know who runs Calgary!
Gran ambiente en el main event con la Hart Foundation, Owen Hart cubre a Steve Austin, The Great Sasuke vs Taka Michinoku, Undertaker defiende el título mundial ante Vader. La entrada A Ras De Lona #416: WWF In Your House – Canadian Stampede aparece primero en A Ras De Lona.

We couldn't get through it without them, could we? In the cooldown spot just before we get into the main event that is the V*TOP tournament, we appropriately position the people that everyone has forgotten from Big Egg. No, not the shootboxers - the blokes. Why did men's wrestling promotion Michinoku Pro get a showcase match at the biggest joshi show in history? Why did AJW have a minis division which consisted of three men? David, George and Sarah still don't know, but they watched the matches anyway. Kris & David are back with another episode of BTS and we are joined this week by first-time guest Kaia McKenna (@KaiaMcK) to discuss the week that was May 11-16, 1999.We start off with ECW, with the main discussion being their Hardcore Heaven pay-per-view, but there were a lot of other things going on, as they were having some major problems with talent leaving over being owed money and much more. We also talk about Shane Douglas, one of the talent who was leaving, cutting a “shoot promo” about ECW at the Break the Barrier show at the ECW Arena the day before the PPV and how that was received by the company. In the WWF, we talk about the No Mercy UK PPV, featuring the last appearance of Sable in her original run, as well as how the PPV was basically a glorified house show, plus all the other news from our week.In Japan, the landscape is changing, as newly-minted AJPW President Mitsuharu Misawa had a meeting with New Japan's top stars about putting together a possible working relationship down the line. We also talk about a big BattlARTS show, Atsushi Onita running quite the show at Korakuen Hall, the joshi scene, and more.We then go to Mexico where we talk about Great Sasuke and the Toryumon guys working some shows there, before going back to the U.S. indie scene where we have a funny Ace Darling story, Blaine DeSantis running a couple of loaded PCW shows that come off like bigger indie supercards than Break the Barrier did, Vic Grimes running wild in Memphis, and lots more.WCW closes the show, where we talk about all their Tonight Show shenanigans with Kevin Nash, Bret Hart, & Bill Goldberg, Goldberg's contract dispute, and so much more. All in all, a very entertaining show....so LISTEN NOW!!!Timestamps:0:00:00 ECW (& Break the Barrier)2:01:40 WWF3:00:38 Japan: AJPW, NJPW, BattlARTS, Onita Pro, GAEA, JWP, & NEO Ladies3:47:53 Classic Commercial Break3:51:47 Halftime4:14:26 Latin America: AAA, CMLL, IWRG, Toryumon Mexico, & WWC4:26:19 Other USA: Ace Darling, LAW, PCW, MCW, ATCW, OVW, IWAMS, & MPPW4:53:30 WCW5:29:49 Patreon Preview: Phil Mushnick's infamous front-page “Sex, Lies, and the WWF” column about Vince McMahon's performances on TV relative to what he told Phil about the Titangate scandalsSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/between-the-sheets/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

We start with the WWF, where we get the debut of DUDE LOVE—which is why Ed is on this week in the first place—and how that debut affected a 10 year old Ed back then. We also talk about both the July 14 and July 21 episodes of Raw, featuring the debut of The Patriot, Shawn Michaels cutting quite the promo in Nova Scotia, Bret Hart attacking Vince McMahon, the impending arrival of Kane, and much more. We discuss the Raw abandoning airing live every week as a cost-cutting measure, as well as the changing TV structure in wrestling in general, plus we also talk about Masahiro Chono breaking his ankle at an Orlando WCW taping, Great Sasuke being unhappy with the WWF as Michinoku Pro was in flux, Rickson Gracie & Nobuhiko Takada getting much closer to actually happening, ECW wanting to sue WCW over Raven & Stevie Richards appearing at Bash at the Beach, Rick Rude turning heel in ECW, changes coming to WCW in the form of Thunder and Terry Taylor getting a lot more power, and much more. This is an awesome show, so please don't miss it!!!!0:00:00 WWF2:24:03 Eurasia: AJPW, NJPW, MUGA, BattlARTS, BJPW, FMW, Fuyuki Army, Michinoku Pro, SPWF, Wrestle Dream Factory, Takada vs. Rickson, Pancrase, RINGS, AJW, Women's Junior All-Star show, GAEA, JWP, & CWA3:18:39 Classic Commercial Break3:23:05 Halftime3:29:04 Other North America: Frank Sisson, Harry Smith, AAA, CMLL, Monterrey, & Promo Azteca3:45:36 ECW4:42:13 Other USA: USofA, New Jack City, ECWA, ASW (NC), NCW, NWA 2000, USWA, IWMS, ICW (MI), & APW5:04:07 WCWTo support the show and get access to exclusive rewards like special members-only monthly themed shows, go to our Patreon page at Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets and become an ongoing Patron.
