Newly minted Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum, recently issued a series of Secretarial Orders that have some in the conservation space criticizing him. Dave and Nephi give a civics 101 and explain what a Secretarial Order is and what they do. Next, they dive into some of the orders Secretary Burgum issued and explain what they do. Spoiler: Not much--yet. If you like fast pace and drama, this episode might not be for you. In fact, both Nephi and Dave got distracted doing other things while recording. In today's episode, I chat with Dr. Mikala Albertson about menopause, hormone therapy, and all the things we need to know to feel better in midlife. We kick things off by debunking some common myths around hormone replacement therapy and why it's not as scary as we once thought. Mikala explains how estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone affect our bodies and what happens when we lose them. And as a girl who is fighting some serious night sweats, you better believe I was tuned in. We also dive into supplements, with Mikala sharing the four key ones she recommends. (I take the sum total of zero supplements, so this part was particularly interesting to me.) We discuss how to navigate the overwhelming supplement market and what to avoid. Spoiler: Not all supplements are created equal! Then, we talk about ADHD in adults—the struggle is real. Dr. Mikala breaks down how many women might mistake stress for ADHD and how to figure out what's really going on. We also touch on the decision fatigue we face as we juggle midlife responsibilities. If you're feeling overwhelmed by all the changes happening in your body and mind, this episode is for you. It's full of practical tips, real talk, and a little humor to help you manage the chaos of midlife. Don't forget to tune in next week as we continue talking to Dr. Mikala about stress vs. anxiety, preventative care, and loving our bodies in midlife. Thanks for listening! Hey there, Heathen Nation! Episode 57, "Cocks in Foxes," is rolling out like a red carpet of absurdity and amusement. First off, let's break out the confetti – after a 9-month job hunt, we've finally struck gold! It's a mix of relief, triumph, and a bit of 'Why the heck did this take so long?' Now, let's talk mini-musicians. We're dissecting the world of 7 to 6-year-old rappers – one's a lyrical genius in the making, and the other... well, let's just say their talent is more 'hidden.' And for a twist you didn't see coming: Bat-Boyfriend! No, not the hero Gotham deserves, but a guy who's convinced he's Batman. His girlfriend's so over his caped crusades that she's taking him to Dr. Phil. Is this love in a bat cave or just an episode of 'What am I doing with my life?' And for the juicy finale: a date night revelation. Imagine finding out your date has a tattoo that's... let's just say, less than ideal. Did it stop the evening's escapades? Spoiler: Not really. It's a tale of surprising ink and even more surprising decisions. Got a job hunt story or a tattoo tale to tell? Call us: (305) 537-6447 Remember, life is too short for boring stories. More interesting cases - to illustrate the halakhah. How far do they go toward kiddushin? (Spoiler: Not kiddushin). Plus, kiddushin with a shtar/document. Note - it's not worth even a perutah, nor is it a bill of sale, in that it comes from the woman's husband-to-be, and not her father (or herself, once she's an adult). Note the requirement for consent. Also, does the document need to be written for this woman specifically, like divorce, or not so, like betrothal via money?

The joke is that the difference between conspiracy theories and conspiracy facts is about six months. Well, this is an era of conspiracy facts, especially with the three-letter agencies enjoying a total lack of accountability and transparency. Over the course of his 17 years in the military, Tim Kennedy accrued medals, badges, and tabs, including a Bronze Star. A lot of things have changed since he left, and now he's critical of the government's fight against free society, including the unconstitutionality of the FBI. Tim holds a tough line on the primacy of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. This episode is rich with details about the frightening state of geopolitics. Tim's expertise in special ops and intelligence informs his expertise on an array of topics, including the Nord Stream pipelines. His experience in Ukraine has shown him the deep corruption fueling the country's conflict. At the same time, the way Russia fights wars reveals the way that communism and socialism really work (SPOILER: Not great!). Tim also discusses his upcoming trip to Sudan, where two competing coups are brewing. His coalition Save Our Allies works to save lives on foreign soil. Tim and Glenn also discuss Tim's work on the History Channel show “Hunting Hitler,” which examines the theory that Hitler survived the Siege of Berlin and relocated to Argentina. (Apparently there are fight clubs in Argentina?) Glenn and Tim examine the complicated history of WWII, including the long-lasting effects of Operation Paperclip. Most of all, Glenn and Tim discuss the state of America today. “The military is always a byproduct of what our society is doing,” he tells Glenn. “And our society is woefully broken.” The power used to belong to the people, Tim tells Glenn. Not any more. Now is the time for the individual person. The response to Bud Light has shown that we, the people, still have the power; it's only a matter of coming together: “There's no scarier group than a unified America.” SPONSORS: Right now, you can save $200 on an EdenPURE Thunderstorm Air Purifier 3-pack for whole-home protection. A BIGGER BOAT: BROKEN ROBOTS Co-host Ken is joined this episode by saucy songstress Andi to talk her favorite and least favorite Spielberg.JAWS (1974) is about a broken robot shark hungry for love. You all know the story. Spielberg was in full-on genius mode as a twelve-year-old (sourcing needed) directing JAWS and is famous for a broken mechanical shark necessitating making it unseen for most of the movie. A.I. (2001) is about a broken robot boy hungry for love. Spielberg mopped up after the greatest filmmaker of all time, Stanley Kubrick, developed A.I. for decades. Spielberg got full screenwriting credit despite much of certain sections being verbatim from Kubrick's and Ian Watson's written work prior to Kubrick's untimely, tragic, something-cinema-may-never-recover-from, death in 1999. Hey, Spielberg cut out all the robot sex scenes - because OF COURSE he did. Kubrick's films are often better 20 years later than upon their initial release. They age extremely well. How does Spielberg's version of Kubrick handle a two-decade reappraisal? This week's episode of The Big Sky Astrology Podcast marks a new phase in the life of the show, as beloved co-host Jen Braun has left the podcast and April is flying solo. We know you'll join us in wishing Jen well in her future projects, and that you'll continue to keep April company in this new format. It's appropriate that this new, solo chapter of the show is being inaugurated at an Aquarius New Moon, a time for shakeups and fresh starts. April describes how the Aquarius New Moon, ruled by both Saturn and Uranus, can feel constricting and conflicting – but also energizing! She offers some thoughts about what “seeds” you should plant during this New Moon phase, and how Mercury leaving its retrograde period influences the week. At the end of the episode, April talks about how much influence astrology has over her day-to-day schedule. (Spoiler: Not much.) Plus: Why April's mad at her favorite getaway place, how the Moon might help you get a job, and how to use Mercury retrograde… next time. Please subscribe to The Big Sky Astrology Podcast and rate and review the show, or even recommend it to a friend! Have a question you'd like answered on the show? Leave it here or email April! The most common response to discomfort is to take action that results in a change.Makes sense from a survival perspective...(especially if you are being pursued by predators.)BUT... this "habit of leaving" isn't doing us any favors in the pursuit of our best lives.Sure, there will be jobs, relationships, and other circumstances in our lives that are not "right fits" for us...And, the first evidence of the "wrong fit" will likely be the negative emotions we experience...stress, anxiety, dread, inadequacy, frustration, undervalued, disrespected... We use the experience of these emotions to justify our choice to leave.BUT... when we leave a situation just to get away quickly from those negative emotions, we often find ourselves repeating the experience in the new environment.WHY?!Spoiler: Not for the reasons most of us think. In this episode, I dive into the one thing most of us don't even know we need to do in our haste to leave undesirable experiences behind... and why we must begin doing it if we ever want to stop the pattern from repeating. We focus on this skill in Vet Life Academy.

Time for another Morgendorks! This week: "I Loathe a Parade." Goldfinger - Four. Season four. Not Playing is back, and this time around we’re delving into a fifty-plus year franchise with its fair share of fans and detractors: James Bond. We’ll be picking the best entry from the tenure of each actor to play the legendary secret agent. To kick it off, we’ll be starting with perhaps the most iconic movie in the franchise: 1964’s Goldfinger, starring future Russian submarine captain Sean Connery. Hot topics include something familiar about the personage of our villain, just how long it takes to paint someone to death, and, the relative wokeness of the James Bond franchise. (Spoiler: Not very.) This week, Paul and Brian talk a bunch about the US election cycle, because of course we do, because it's a big damn horror show that will never, ever end. But listen to find out how much Canada cares about the election, how much they know about the American system, and how much Americans know about the Canadian system!Spoiler: Not much.Paul and Brian poke fun at Carly Fiorina because it's fun, drawing a connection between Giphy (an animated GIF startups) and an attack ad with demonic sheep. This is the attack ad! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKWlOxhSIKkIn addition, the static duo spend a bunch of time talking about the loss of pets and family, and the things that tear at our hearts. As always, we're on Twitter at @dotboom, @paulfidalgo, and @thinkerypodcast. Reach out to us!

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is worth exactly what you pay for it. And possibly slightly less. Such is the verdict of The Film Board this month as we take on the Kenneth Branagh-helmed thriller. It's the fifth in the Ryan series, but the first not based on one of Tom Clancy's novels — a sore point for many of us on The Board. Writers Adam Cozad and David Koepp conjure up some interesting moments in a script that is otherwise awash in trite dialog. But the biggest questions remain: Can Chris Pine pull off the fish-out-of-water clumsiness of Ryan? Can Kevin Costner fill the giant shoes of James Earl Jones in the critical mentor role? Can Keira Knightley handle the American accent? (Spoiler: Not really.) Join Board regulars Tommy Metz III, Steve Sarmento, Chadd Stoops, Andy Nelson, and Pete Wright as they digest this serving of spy soup, with a healthy helping of Oscars 2014 predictions!
