Unity 7.6 (yes that one) is back! Firefox 100 introduces a gang of new features, Kdenlive goes 10-bit, and a 64MP camera for your Raspberry Pi.
In today's episode: OnePlus launches its newest mid-range smartphone, OnePlus Nord CE 5G, featuring a 90Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 750G, 64MP main camera and 30W fast charging for around 300-400$. We get a full specs leak of the upcoming OnePlus Nord 2, which has Dimensity 1200 chip and more, along with the Honor 50 series, which has big cameras, Snapdragon 778G chip (on the 50 and 50 Pro), fast charging and... Google services, pretty excited for these upcoming Honor flagships. Realme is releasing a laptop and a tablet, hopefully competitively priced. Xiaomi's 200W fast charging could cause some battery degradation, while, Infinix could be offering a 160W fast charger (It could be for an upcoming laptop, as most of their phones don't support ultra-fast charging yet). Plus: Microsoft is planning to bring over Xbox game streaming to smart TVs and launch a Xbox streaming stick, while upgrading its streaming servers to Series X hardware. Game streaming has taken off in a big way during the pandemic and due to chip shortages. Sony has finally thrown down the gauntlet with its 2021 flagship phones, ZTE has launched a new flagship series, and Anyron lets us know what he thinks after fully testing the Nubia Red Magic 6. First up, Sony has launched the Xperia 1 III, 5 III and 10 III all together. The 1 III is the real star, with the industry's first 4K 120Hz display and dynamic focal length periscopic camera, but is that enough to break Sony out of its niche appeal? ZTE is next up, with a new trio of flagships led by the Axon 30 Ultra - notable in part because it's actually getting a global release, including the US. It boasts a triple 64Mp camera setup and a 144Hz display, but notably doesn't include the under-display selfie camera of last year's Axon 20 5G. Finally, Anyron has been busy testing the Nubia Red Magic 6, and is ready to give his review of this 165Hz gaming phone. This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. In today's episode: Samsung unveils its new midrange phones, the Galaxy A52, A52 5G and A72, we talk about these all new interesting phones packed with 90Hz+ displays, IP67 water/dust resistance, 64MP main sensor with OIS and some awesome specs. The Galaxy S21 FE is launching later in the year, along with Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 2, but, weirdly enough, the new Galaxy Note 21 may not launch due to chip shortages possibly. OnePlus 9 Pro will have 50W wireless fast charging finally, OnePlus Watch will not have Wear OS by Google, but will have seamless connectivity, heartrate tracking and more. We've got a leak for Xiaomi's first foldable and E-bike batteries could be recyclable thanks to a tie-up between bikemaker Specialized and renowned recycler Redwood Materials. We review the TCL 10L which is part of the new TCL 10 Series. The 10 Series includes TCL’s first 5G smartphone and the company’s first device that uses a TCL-made curved AMOLED display. TCL 10L reviewed This is the companies first 5G-enabled smartphone, and for the price, and the power it packs, it’s not a bad effort at all. It also came with a couple of choices of cover, which snuggly and effectively wrapped the phone in a smart and workable way to protect it. It is not too far along the scale in terms of size creep and will, just about, fit into your pocket without too much pain or discomfort. Personally we could probably live with it being a fraction smaller, but it would not be a dealer breaker for most users. A lot of the functions are pretty easy to figure out and pretty soon the younger members of our testing team were already figuring out how to make slowmo sequences and mini animation sequences. The robustness of the phone, combined with it’s pricing, and it’s ease of use does make this a device you would not be uncomfortable with handing over to the younger content creators in the house for their selfies and tick tock moments. The selfies work pretty well, and in terms of photo effects and image editing there is enough here to play around with and learn from for a first time user, with good enough robustness that you can be confident that your younger users will learn plenty on this phone, while also creating some good visual results along the way too. The screen capture option also works pretty well, and has resulted in the phone being used as a workout and yoga viewing device too, so it has nudged creativity and imagination during lockdown too. It will be interesting to see how TCL develops and evolve on their journey into the smartphone market but this is definitely a solid point of entry. See more on their Instagram account here.
