Welcome to episode 333 of the Löw Tide Böyz - A Swimrun Podcast! Triple threes. We are officially in taper mode for Ötillö Orcas Island, and we brought back one of our favorite guests to help us make the most of what is left in the build. Brian Johns is Head of Coaching Science at FORM Swim and a three-time Canadian Olympian. He is also the brains behind the FORM training plans that Chris has been running almost exclusively for two years with excellent results — including some very generous feedback from the master swim coach on deck who keeps gassing up his form score. We had Brian back on to talk about what is actually happening inside those plans, how to read and act on the data the goggles give you, and how to design swim training specifically for a race like the Swimrun World Championship. On the product side, FORM has the new Smart Swim 2 LT at $149, which gets you the heads-up display and the full coaching platform. The Pro 2 is their top of the line with Gorilla Glass lenses and high-end anti-fog. And Head Coach Insights — their newest software feature — gives you direct feedback on your swim after every session, including what to work on and why. The coaching conversation is where this one really takes off. Brian walks through the two levers of swim speed — stroke length and stroke rate — and how to manipulate them for open water racing. He explains why tracking your form score length by length beats tracking it by interval, how the goggles can give you real-time feedback that even a coach on deck cannot, and how to use success-based training to progressively build your interval length without grinding through bad swimming. His framework is simple: find the distance you can hold well, own it, and then extend it. For swimrun specifically, the conversation gets into how to structure brick sessions — swim before and after your long run, nothing fancy, just getting the body comfortable transitioning — and our favorite pool set for mimicking race conditions: 10x100s with a deck-up after each one. Brian had the same workout in his notes before we even mentioned it. On race tactics for Ötillö — Brian did his homework watching YouTube footage of the course, and his read is the same as ours. You cannot win the race on the first mile swim, but you can absolutely lose it. The swim is front-loaded, the racing is tactical, and quiet confidence going into the water is worth more than brute force. If you are heading to Orcas Island, come find us Saturday at Rosario Resort. We are hosting a fika with Wild Swimrun starting around 11am, and the shakeout swimrun with Marcus Barton and Team Envol follows in the afternoon. Details on the Instagrams. Enjoy! That's it for this week's show. Make a Logo on Fiverr The Carbinox Edge is a durable smartwatch built for people who work, travel, hike, build, sweat and occasionally put their gear through situations most wearables would never survive. In this first look, the Carbinox Edge gets unboxed, paired, tested and then frozen inside a block of ice for one of the most extreme smartwatch durability tests I have ever done. A Rugged Smartwatch Built for Real Abuse The Carbinox Edge comes across as a smartwatch made for rougher environments. It features a stainless steel body, Gorilla Glass, IP69K protection, 5 ATM water resistance and a 1.96-inch AMOLED display. It is designed for users who want something tougher than a basic fitness watch, especially if they work on construction sites, spend time outdoors or simply want a watch that can handle more abuse than a typical smartwatch. The watch also includes dual-band GNSS with six tracking systems, which means it can track location without relying only on your phone. That could be useful for hiking, job sites, emergency situations or anywhere phone-free tracking matters. What Comes in the Box Inside the box, the Carbinox Edge includes the watch body, a band, a manual, a USB-C charging cable and a proprietary charging base. The charging dock is magnetic and connects to the back of the watch using two contact points. The included band uses quick-release pins, making it easier to attach or swap out. That is a nice touch if you want to change bands or replace one after heavy use. Setup and App Pairing Pairing the Carbinox Edge is straightforward. After powering on the watch, the setup process asks for a language selection and displays a QR code for app pairing. The watch connects through the Carbinox Max app, and once paired, it can show notifications, weather, fitness data, health tracking, watch settings and firmware updates. The watch works with both iPhone and Android devices. During setup, it connected quickly over Bluetooth and displayed battery level, GPS satellite data and watch face options through the app. Display, Battery and Features The Carbinox Edge has a 410-by-502 resolution AMOLED display with 331 PPI and up to 1,000 nits of brightness. That should make it easier to read indoors and outdoors. Battery life is one of the biggest selling points. The watch has a 500 mAh battery, with Carbinox claiming up to 25 days depending on use. In the test, the watch still had plenty of battery before being frozen, and after being removed from the ice, it still powered back on and reconnected. Health and utility features include heart rate, SpO2, sleep, stress, mood, activity tracking, workouts, weather, calls, alarms, music controls and notifications. The Extreme Ice Test Instead of simply scratching the screen, hitting it with a hammer or running it over, this test took a different approach. The Carbinox Edge was frozen inside a block of ice for 24 hours. The idea was to simulate an extreme situation where the watch might be buried, frozen or stuck in a harsh environment. After about 12 to 14 hours, the watch stopped responding to the phone while still frozen. But once it was chipped out of the ice, it powered back on, showed the correct time and reconnected to the phone. Even while wet, the touchscreen still responded. The buttons continued working, and the display showed no visible scratches after additional scraping and impact testing. What Worked Well The biggest win is durability. The Carbinox Edge survived being frozen in ice for a full day, then came back to life after being removed. The screen held up well, the buttons still worked and the watch remained usable even while wet. The long battery life is also a major plus. A durable smartwatch is only useful if it can stay powered long enough to matter, and the Carbinox Edge appears built with that in mind. The display is bright, the body feels rugged and the quick-release band system makes it easier to manage than older watch designs. A Few Issues to Watch There were a couple of issues during use. When traveling to Las Vegas, the phone updated to the new time zone, but the watch did not update until the Carbinox app was opened. That could likely be fixed in a firmware update. Notifications were another concern. The watch did not clearly separate text messages from other app notifications, activity alerts or reminders. Turning off unwanted notifications also affected text alerts. Again, this feels like something that could improve through software updates. Final First Look The Carbinox Edge is an extreme smartwatch for people who need more than basic fitness tracking. It is rugged, bright, long-lasting and surprisingly tough. Freezing it in a block of ice for 24 hours did stop it from responding temporarily, but once it came out, it powered back on and kept working. For anyone looking for a durable smartwatch that can handle harsh conditions, the Carbinox Edge makes a strong first impression. In this episode, we dive into an exciting announcement with Zach and Q from Foundation. After two years of hard work, they unveil the team's latest creation, the Passport Prime, a revolutionary personal security platform. Unlike traditional hardware wallets, Passport Prime combines the features of a hardware wallet with those of a YubiKey, offering multi-factor authentication, encrypted storage, and an extendable app platform for third-party developers. This open app platform aims to empower developers to build security applications, contrasting with Ledger's closed ecosystem.Zach and Q discuss the meticulous design process behind Passport Prime, highlighting its unique industrial design, including a curved screen and CNC'd aluminum chassis. They emphasize the device's durability, featuring Gorilla Glass and a high-quality IPS touchscreen display. The conversation shifts to the device's capabilities, which extend beyond a typical hardware wallet. Passport Prime supports various applications, including a 2FA codes app, a security key application, a file browser with a unique AirLock feature, and a seed vault app. These features make it a Swiss army knife for personal security, allowing users to securely store and manage their digital assets.KeyOS, the operating system powering Passport Prime, is introduced as a microkernel-based OS written in Rust, offering modularity, resilience, and enhanced security. The open-source nature of KeyOS allows third-party developers to create apps for the platform, with Cake Wallet being the first to integrate. The episode also covers the innovative Quantum Link Bluetooth, which ensures secure communication between Passport Prime and smartphones. This feature, along with the device's modular design, addresses potential security concerns while enhancing user experience. Finally, the hosts discuss the backup solutions for Passport Prime, utilizing NFC key cards and optional cloud backups to provide a seamless recovery process. The episode concludes with details on the device's availability and pricing, highlighting the team's dedication to creating a high-quality, user-friendly product.IMPORTANT LINKShttps://foundation.xyz/ungovernablehttps://foundation.xyz/beyondungovernablecrew@proton.mehttps://github.com/betrusted-ioVALUE FOR VALUEThanks for listening you Ungovernable Misfits, we appreciate your continued support and hope you enjoy the shows. You can support this episode using your time, talent or treasure.TIME:- create fountain clips for the show- create a meetup- help boost the signal on social mediaTALENT:- create ungovernable misfit inspired art, animation or music- design or implement some software that can make the podcast better- use whatever talents you have to make a contribution to the show!TREASURE:- BOOST IT OR STREAM SATS on the Podcasting 2.0 apps @ https://podcastapps.com- DONATE via Paynym @ https://paynym.rs/+misfit- DONATE via Monero @ https://xmrchat.com/ugmf- BUY SOME CLOTHING @ https://ungovernablemisfits.com/store/- BUY SOME ART!! @ https://ungovernablemisfits.com/art-gallery/FOUNDATIONhttps://foundation.xyz/ungovernableFoundation builds Bitcoin-centric tools that empower you to reclaim your digital sovereignty. As a sovereign computing company, Foundation is the antithesis of today's tech conglomerates. What would you like to see more of? Let us know!In this episode of Discover Daily, we explore the European Commission's groundbreaking antitrust investigation into Corning's Gorilla Glass business practices. The probe examines potential anticompetitive behavior, including exclusive agreements that require manufacturers to source nearly all their specialized glass from Corning. With Apple's significant investment in Corning's technology at stake, the investigation could reshape the smartphone component industry. We then delve into Rutgers mathematician Pham Tiep's remarkable solutions to two long-standing problems in representation theory. Using character theory, which studies how abstract groups can be represented by matrices, Tiep solved the Height Zero Conjecture and made key advances in Deligne-Lusztig theory. These solutions have practical applications in quantum mechanics, cryptography, and error-correcting codes. The episode concludes with an alarming update from Naples, Italy, where the Phlegraean Fields supervolcano shows increased activity. In May 2024, the area experienced its most intense seismic event in four decades, with 150 earthquakes in five hours. The ground in Pozzuoli has risen 1.3 meters since 2007, and the Solfatara crater now emits 4,000-5,000 tons of CO2 daily. Using Steve Jobs' groundbreaking work with Apple as a case study, we dive into how a mindset that embraces the impossible can lead to extraordinary achievements. Discover how Jobs' unwavering belief in overcoming obstacles—like creating the revolutionary Gorilla Glass—contrast with a more discouraged perspective often found within the Christian community. We ask: when did believers stop dreaming big? Through powerful Biblical examples like David and Goliath, and the story of Nehemiah, we learn that shifting our expectations can lead to remarkable changes. It's time to align our expectations with God's limitless possibilities and dare to envision a future filled with miracles and breakthroughs. Join us as we challenge you to rethink your perspective and raise your expectations! Remember, "With God, all things are possible."

On the heels of its XPS 13 Plus launch, Dell Technologies continues this year's rollout of its reimagined XPS portfolio with today's launch of the XPS 13 and the reveal of the upcoming XPS 13 2-in-1. Dell's Thinnest and Lightest 13-inch XPS Laptop Because the course of a day can change with one email, text or spark of spontaneity, the XPS 13 (available with Windows 11 or Ubuntu 20.04) has been designed by Dell to be the ultimate on-the-go companion. Artfully thin, light and compact with up to 12 hours of long battery life, it slips seamlessly into a backpack, bag or purse, while still delivering the premium performance with 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors to multitask with ease. True to the XPS aesthetic, it features our fifth generation, 4-side InfinityEdge display and enhanced sound for an immersive entertainment experience whether streaming music, video-chatting friends or watching the latest blockbuster. High brightness, improved clarity, precise detail with up to 4K+ resolution, and vivid colour bring the content to life, while larger speakers enable louder sound, deeper bass and a better overall audio experience. Eyesafe® technology intelligently manages light energy at the source, reducing harmful blue light without compromising the visual experience. Expertly crafted from premium materials, the XPS 13 delivers an inclusive approach to expressive colour, with unified tones inside and out that embody our mindful, minimalist approach. Available in softened shades of Sky and Umber, the tinted CNC machined aluminium is curated and premium. With the new XPS 13, Dell set out on a long and ambitious journey to “miniaturize” the motherboard to be 1.8x smaller than the one found in our previous XPS 13 (2021). In fact, it's the smallest motherboard ever created and fitted for a Dell PC. This created the architectural space needed to pack in a tapestry of new technologies and enlarge the speaker enclosures. The result is an XPS 13 that is thinner and lighter, yet better sounding, high performing and long-lasting. Taking Versatility to New Heights, the Xps 13 2-in-1 Is Launching This Summer As the lines continue to blur between work, life and learning, the XPS 13 2-in-1 reflects just that. This XPS device provides the ultimate flexibility allowing users to effortlessly transition between streaming, working creating and sharing content, and connecting. This is the first XPS device to offer 5G connectivity, which enables faster downloads, like WiFi speeds, but for mobile broadband. Streaming, downloading files, rich video content – it all happens a lot faster with the speed of 5G, so users can be productive and entertained no matter the location. The new XPS 13 2-in-1 also features eSIM technology, which allows users to go to different countries and connect to global carriers without having to switch SIM cards. The XPS 13 2-in-1 allows for a fluid transition from consumption to full productivity mode by attaching the magnetic XPS Folio, providing a complete laptop experience that supports three angle adjustments (100°, 112.5°, 125°) for flexibility and comfort. The natural writing and inking experience of the XPS Stylus will allow users to express their creativity, turning the device into a state-of-the-art sketchpad. Designed around an intuitive, landscape-first viewing mode – because that's how we see the world – the stunning display panel delivers high brightness and precise detail with up to 3K resolution and vivid colour. The high-resolution 1080p front-facing webcam offers a crisp and clear image and is placed horizontally for practical and productive video calls. The XPS 13 2-in-1 offers two connectivity options, standard WiFi 6E or 5G with WiFi 6E, each featuring a sleek, minimalist design. The standard WiFi 6E model is constructed of machined aluminium, just like the XPS 13 and is available in the subtle blue Sky colour. Unique to the 5G model, the back is made from Gorilla Glass 7 to optimize connectivity and eliminate ...

Not to worry. I would not have figured it out either. But then I saw the WOWCube by Cubios, Inc. and I was immediately intrigued. It's so simple in its presentation and easy to manipulate, yet it's almost too complicated to explain all that it is capable of doing or its sophistication of design and implementation!A prototype was built in a camper, in cofounder and inventor Ilya Osipov's driveway (rather than in the garage like some other tech giants) and now with designers and engineers around the world, this company has created an amazing origin story.Another great example of a dedicated group of entrepreneurs solving problems, overcoming years of obstacles, and Going Boldly, every day!The WOWCube is currently being sold through the website.
