Pastor Mike presents part two of his teaching on biblical repentance, reviewing how it operates as both a mandatory command and a divine gift that occurs simultaneously with faith in time. The core theological focus of the episode centers on the logical and nature-based order of these "twin graces," establishing that repentance is ultimately the fruit of faith. Citing classical and modern theologians like Sinclair Ferguson, G.T. Shed, and R.L. Dabney, Abendroth explains that saving faith must logically precede repentance because a sinner cannot experience true, affectionate sorrow for sin without a prior grasp of God's pardoning mercy and love in Christ. Pastor Mike continues his theological critique against the practice of altar calls. He expands on his arguments by explaining that altar calls frequently grant individuals false assurance of salvation, mislead believers into relying on a church building "saving zone" instead of personally evangelizing others, and minimize the biblical significance of baptism as the true public profession of faith. Abendroth further contends that altar calls inappropriately manipulate the pinnacle of the worship service and risk confusing the preacher or an inquiry helper with the sole mediator, Jesus Christ. Ultimately, he maintains that the sovereign preaching of the Word carries the true power to save, calling individuals to repent and believe exactly where they are. Pastor Mike explains his theological opposition to altar calls. Reflecting on his 29 years of ministry, he argues that altar calls lack a New Testament mandate and dangerously confuse an outward physical act with a supernatural, inward new birth. He critiques methods popularized by Billy Graham and Charles Finney, asserting that they offer a superficial view of human depravity by appealing to human will rather than sovereign grace. Ultimately, Abendroth urges pastors to reject preacher-driven compliance and rely strictly on preaching the biblical commands to repent and believe. Konstantin von Abendroth spricht über Psalm 90 in der Serie "Auszug aus Ägypten – Von der Befreiung zur Freiheit".
Pastor Mike addresses the pervasive struggle with covetousness and the biblical call for sacrificial giving. He examines the "rich fool" in Luke 12, who prioritized earthly security through bigger barns, contrasting him with those who are "rich toward God". Abendroth introduces the "100% principle," arguing that instead of focusing on a 10% tithe, Christians should recognize that everything they own belongs entirely to the Lord as His stewards. By looking to the example of the Macedonian churches and the ultimate sacrifice of Christ—who became poor to make believers spiritually rich—the episode challenges listeners to embrace a lifestyle of cheerful and intentional generosity. Produced/Edited By: Marrio Escobar (Owner of D2L Productions) In this podcast episode of No Compromise Radio, host Mike Abendroth discusses the critical topic of sexual fidelity, emphasizing the importance of parents, particularly fathers, engaging in open and honest conversations about sex. Drawing heavily from Proverbs chapter five, Abendroth highlights the biblical perspective on avoiding sexual immorality and enjoying sexual intimacy exclusively within the bounds of marriage. He shares personal anecdotes about his own experiences as a father discussing these subjects with his son, contrasting it with his own upbringing where such conversations were absent. The episode stresses that while sexual sin is destructive, sexual expression within marriage is a blessed and joyful experience designed by God. Abendroth urges listeners to actively flee from sexual sin, including pornography, and to cherish and satisfy their spouses. He concludes by reinforcing that the ability to live a life of sexual purity stems from one's union with Christ.

Key Takeaways Preaching should actively center on Christ, ensuring clarity and relevance to the congregation. Law should be preached as guiding and protecting under the loving authority of God, not as a harsh directive. Sermons are most effective when they engage listeners through dynamic delivery and eye contact rather than relying solely on written manuscripts. The objective call to teach must be confirmed by church leaders and congregation feedback, alongside personal desire to preach. Positivity, such as smiling, during sermons can enhance connection and reception amongst congregants.Tweetable Quotes "Two minutes of Jesus talk at the end of a sermon cannot rescue a Christless sermon." - Mike Abendroth "Leave the congregation longing, not loathing." - Mike Abendroth quoting Howard Hendricks "Get on fire for the Lord as a pastor, and people will come to watch you burn." - Abendroth, quoting Spurgeon "Let Jesus offend rather than forcing the issue yourself when preaching sovereignty and salvation." - Mike Abendroth "Send a missionary to your face—let the good news reflect through your demeanor." - Show Notes by Barevalue.

The active obedience of Christ is a vital biblical doctrine that helps sinners see Jesus better. Many know Jesus to be the one who atoned for sin, securing forgiveness for those who trust in Him. This is both wonderful and crucial. But being forgiven is not enough. God requires perfect obedience for eternal life. Even Jesus says so. Thankfully, God not only requires perfect obedience but also graciously provides through His Son. In addition to atonement, Jesus positively fulfilled the divine requirement by His perfect obedience. In other words, Jesus removes guilt for wrongdoing, and Jesus provides perfect righteousness by His obedience to the divine law. In The Active Obedience of Christ, readers are directed to Jesus—the one who is better than many may have ever realized! 2024 Summer of Interviews: Pat Abendroth Church Today
Pastor Mike interviews his brother Pat Abendroth on today's show. Pat is the Senior Pastor of Omaha Bible Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Listen in as they talk about a recent conference at Bethlehem Bible Church and a variety of other topics. Pat is originally from Omaha and is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. It was during his time at UNL that Pat was converted and became a Christian. After earning his Masters degree from The Master's Seminary in Southern California and serving in two college pastorates, Pat came to Omaha Bible Church as Senior Pastor in 1998. Pat and his wife Molly met at UNL and were married in 1991. They have five children. Seeing Christ exalted and lives transformed through expository preaching is the driving pastoral passion for Pat. Beyond proclaiming Christ at Omaha Bible Church, it is a pleasure for Pat to be involved in training pastors in the U.S. and abroad. If you see Pat away from a pulpit, he will likely be either doing a flip on a wakeboard or peddling like mad training for a road race. It would be an understatement to say he enjoys both sports. Pat is currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Ministry program at the Ligonier Academy of Biblical and Theological Studies. See what’s going on in Pat’s Theology for Breakfast men’s group here.

REWIND time -- this is such a good episode that we need to release it again....and I am sure again and again. Check out renewalcast.com -- there is a store If you are in the market for a reformed hat, check it out. About the Guest(s): Mike Abendroth is a renowned theologian, pastor, and author, widely recognized for his contributions to the discussions on Reformed Theology and the doctrines of grace. With notable works addressing key theological debates, Abendroth has established himself as a thought leader in biblical and doctrinal studies. He is currently serving as a pastor and is known for his insightful and challenging perspectives on issues like Arminianism and lordship salvation. Episode Summary: Welcome to another enlightening episode of the Renewal Cast! In today's bonus episode, hosts Coalt and Jay delve into a fascinating conversation with Mike Abendroth, focusing on his critical views regarding Arminianism and lordship salvation. This episode promises to enrich your understanding as Abendroth meticulously deconstructs these theological standpoints, clarifying common misconceptions and offering profound insights into how they align with or diverge from Reformed theology. In this session, Abendroth addresses the core of lordship salvation, providing a balanced perspective on its implications. By distinguishing between outward-focused fiduciary faith and inward-directed volitional faith, he articulates why lordship salvation often leans towards Arminianism despite its proponents being predominantly Calvinists. This discussion is vital for grasping the intricacies of salvation theology and the nuanced differences that can significantly impact doctrinal teachings and personal belief systems. Key Takeaways:Fiduciary vs. Volitional Faith: Abendroth emphasizes the critical difference between fiduciary faith (trusting in Christ alone) and volitional faith (submission, surrender).Historical Context: He references the Marrow Controversy to highlight the historical debate on whether one must stop sinning prior to coming to Christ.Arminianism Concerns: The guest points out that while many lordship salvation proponents are Calvinists, their calls to submit and surrender resemble Arminian teachings.Sola Fide: The reformer's principle of faith alone (sola fide) is underscored as essential, with no preconditions for sinners to come to Christ.Sanctification and Justification: The distinction between these two categories is crucial, where surrender and submission are relevant to sanctification rather than justification.Notable Quotes:"When we preach to people, we are telling them about who Jesus is… now we ask them… believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.""Surrender, submission, yielding is something on me. So if I have to surrender my life in order to come to Christ, it better be perfect surrender.""A little faith in the right Jesus saves. Perfect surrender in the right Jesus would have to save. But that's impossible.""It was the Arminians that had the response to the call of the work of Christ in a volitional category. What it had to do with my will. Surrender, submit.""Sola fide is there for a reason. And that's why I would say their calls are Arminian very often."Resources:Renewal Cast Website: renewalcast.comJ.I.
