On this week's episode we were joined by Megan Smith and Susan Alzner, co-founders of Shift7, where they are bringing together problem solvers and innovators to solve systemic problems through transparency, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leveraging technology. Before teaming up to build Shift7, Megan Smith served as the third Chief Technology Officer of the United States under President Barack Obama, worked as VP of Google for 11 years, was CEO of planetout- an online LGTBQ+ community in the early days of the internet, and worked on early smartphones at General Magic and Apple Japan early in her career. Today, in addition to her work at Shift7, Megan is an advisor to the MIT Media Lab, Vital Voices, Thinkof-Us, LA Olympics 2028, the Malala Fund, which she actually co-founded! Susan has worked in both creative spaces as well as government organizations. Susan worked as the political project manager for musician and social activist Ani DiFranco, and led the United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) from 2014-2018. During her time at the UN, she co-created the UN Solutions Summit and led global public participation in UN General Assembly high-level events, including the UN Summit for Refugees and Migrants, and dialogues with the candidates for UN Secretary-General. In today's episode we go behind the scenes of these illustrious careers to learn how a mandatory middle school science fair, batman and Robin, shaped Megan and Susan's leadership styles and approaches to problem solving. Megan and Susan discuss how we can superpower our problem solving by applying technology and innovation to all topics from self driving cars to school lunches. On this episode of the Capitals Talk podcast, Nick Ashooh and JJ Regan are joined by former Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner to discuss what's next for him after opting out of the 2020 postseason with Montreal. Alzner looks back fondly on his time in Washington and gives some behind-the-scenes details that helped a pair of his former teammates blossom into the superstars they are today.

A week after free agency has started and two weeks into the "offseason" have left us with a rejiggered landscape as to who the best teams are in the NHL.  We at the Two Man Forecheck are still figuring it out and this week we talk about the defenseman carousel that has begun with the move of Troy Stetcher to Detroit.  In order to make space for their new acquisition, the Golden Knights have sent Nate Schmidt to Vancouver for a 3rd round pick in 2022.  All three teams filling voids on their teams.  We also talk about Matt Grzelcyk re-signing with the Bruins.  Also on the table are many other d-men who could have been acquired by the Boston franchise.  Sami Vatanen, Karl Alzner and even Vince Dunn are potential targets. We break down the work of the L.A. Kings, a franchise that, we believe, recognizes their situation and where they are going.  We discuss the issue facing the Penguins, bringing in Cody Ceci after parting ways with Jack Johnson and Justin Schultz.  We answer a mailbag question regarding the signing of Grzelcyk and close with a parting shot from Torey Krug to Brad Marchand.  A fun show to be sure, so give us a listen, send us your questions and Enjoy the Show!

Lots of rumors, but so far it's been a surprisingly quiet week. The Domi/Anderson trade is the only noteworthy one so far, plus a few buyouts (J. Johnson, Alzner, Abdelkader). With two more days until free agency, will we see some big names being moved, like OEL, Hall, T. Johnson, Krug, etc?
