Many leavers of the PBCC (Exclusive brethren) have struggled or are struggling with their mental wellbeing. To what extent does being born and raised in a high control group such as the PBCC contribute to this struggle? Many would say it does but what actual evidence is there to support this hypothesis? Research provides that evidence. What a story this is! Born into an intensely homophobic and misogynist cult, Joey Green comes to the realization that she is a lesbian – and to make a bad situation worse, her father is an outspoken anti-gay activist. Joey was on episode 93 as anonymous and came back as herself to fill in many parts of her story she wasn't able to fill in before. One of those stories along with many others is alcohol in water bottles at school! Growing up in the isolationist Plymouth Brethren Christian Church cult, where women are treated as inferiors and homosexuality is actively hated, a young girl overcomes all these barriers to become the happy and confident non-binary personality that we see and hear on this podcast – a sparkling witness to the transformation that takes place when a person breaks free and can live their true identity. We then take a look at Myles and Lee Admiraal, prominent and extremely wealthy PBCC business owners who have a dark history of homophobic hatred and harassment, leading to a damning court case in Montreal. This revealing court case really shows how these children take the leaders hatred and then act them out in society. This was a tear jerker episode as "Jane" continues telling her experience of teaching at OneSchool Global. i awaken this morning with this word in my spirit and the Lord has allowed me to share .sometimes in life we think we are too old or too young for this .And we are sometimes made by sociality to think we are finished at a certain age sometimes we tell ourselves we left it too late but that is not what God is saying to us that is what we are telling ourselves .i was on a live chat on YouTube yesterday when a sister that was on was upset with herself because she left she had made opportunities go by teaches go by the YouTube minstry we were on is called chosen vessel Dr Lindsay the sister that was chatting starting listening to this ministry from 2014 when it first came on YouTube i didnot start to listen to this ministry until 2018 and it really helped me though my sickness and divorce but this person.seem to have stopped listening to this ministry and she felt she hadnot lived her life has she should have she felt she had wasted her time she felt God hadnot answered her prayers .But Dr Lindsay had a word for her it's never too late to start again and God maynot have answered your prayers the way you may have wanted it to be answered but he did .sometimes God answer to our prayers is just bringing us back to where we left of that he can finish of what he started in us at that place so today we thank God that it's never too late too late to start again .Godbless you all thank you for listening to blessed and free 63 on Anchor Spotify apple and other platforms where jesus is Lord
Anna Simmons lived her whole life in the Exclusive Brethren/PBCC, but never agreed with their harsh doctrine of separation. In February 2009 The Preston Down Trust applied to the Charity Commission of England and Wales to renew its charitable status. In June 2012 the Charity Commission rejected this application on the basis the doctrines and practices of the PBCC as practiced by the Trust did not meet the test for public benefit as set out in charity law. This resulted in a hearing being scheduled in the First Tier Tribunal so the courts could decide if the PBCC practices and doctrines met the legal threshold for charitable status. That hearing never went ahead. Join us as we explore what happened as a result of the 2012 decision and unpick exactly what the Charity Commissions concerns were, especially in relation to the reports of detriment and harm resulting from the practices of the PBCC. Regulators are there to give guidance about change and this is what the PBCC assured the Commission they were willing to undertake in order to retain their charitable status. The formal agreement for change happened in 2014. But have the PBCC changed? Has the detriment and harm to both their members and ex members stopped? In 2014, The PBCC in their charity commisions review declared that they would allow outside members to join and attend their meetings. Emily Victoria gave up her friends, family, got rid of her TV, jewelry, wore dresses and headbands and sincerely wanted to join the PBCC and reunite with her boyfriend that wanted to marry her. Unfortunately, she was denied in every way and cut off of contact from the love of her life. Could it be that her boyfriend's family was looked down on or was it the sneering priests that thought she was a joke? Either way, the PBCC are showing the public they aren't holding to their agreements they laid out with the Charities Commision.
