Nothing special to talk about this week, so we can knock this one out quickly. New Year's Evil: Some killer who has given himself the nom de plume "Evil" calls into the host of a "punk rock New Year's Special" that Steve says does not feature any punk rock. Mr. "Evil" says he's going to kill people, then he does, but in an uninteresting manner. In a twist no one could see coming, "Evil" turns out to be the DJ's husband and he wants to kill her because she has metaphorically castrated him. So, there kinda was a wiener twist after all. New Year's Evil final grade: Steve Not a good movie. There were plenty of things to make fun of about it, so that was nice. That couldn't save the overall product, though. Steamed that the music sucked so much. 1.7/5.0 Brandon Another movie the writers were unable to make anything. It wasn't thrilling. It wasn't gory. It wasn't scary. The only thing it inspired you to do is write haikus about it. For example: New Year's killer rings People get killed, but who cares Punk rock can't be heard 1.6/5.0 Cocktail of the Week: Happy New Year 1 1/2 oz Brandy 3/4 oz Ruby Port Wine 3/4 oz Orange Juice Champagne/Prosecco/Sparkling Wine Combine non-bubbly ingredients in a cocktail shaker, strain into whatever style champagne glass you have. No garnishes. Pour it, and drink it. Cocktail Grade: A nice little twist on the classic New Year's glass of bubbly. Weirdly had kind of a chocolate flavor. Make it if you want to put in the effort to have something more flavorful than straight-up champagne. 4/5 ------------------ Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to: boozeandbmovies@gmail.com X: @boozeandbmovies Instagram: @boozeandbmovies Threads: @boozeandbmovies www.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/boozeandbmovies/support

Summer is dealing with the impending criminal trial of her mother, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), who was brutally framed for the murder of Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) by Sharon. Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) is tasked with arresting Sharon, and Michael Baldwin (Christian Jules Leblanc) is diligently working to secure her bail on the CBS soap opera. Young and Restless sees Nick's focus on Sharon's legal woes is causing him to neglect his responsibilities to his family, especially Summer and Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei), who are left terrified as Phyllis battles a life-threatening brain injury from a car crash. The accident, which occurred on the day of Abby Newman's (Melissa Ordway) wedding, is believed to be a deliberate act by Sharon. The herb of choice here is fresh tarragon, and it goes beautifully with the mustard and cream in the dressing. When you want an elegant accompaniment to roasted meat or fish, something without vinaigrette, serve this. It is especially nice at Easter, with lamb.

Read along to practice your English and to learn the English phrases TO RUN OUT OF STEAM and TO BE STEAMEDIn this English lesson, I wanted to help you learn the English phrase to run out of steam. When you run out of steam, it means you're really tired after working for a long time or maybe hiking all day or doing something that is a bit exhausting. Yesterday I worked really long. I worked till it was really late last night and I ran out of steam. At around 7:30 I thought, you know, I should just go in, have a shower, maybe watch the Blue Jays game, because I was starting to get... I was just exhausted. My muscles hurt. I was laying blocks by the house. I'll show you that job when it's done. But I definitely ran out of steam. So to run out of steam means to be out of energy, but usually because you did something that was physically exhausting.WANT FREE ENGLISH LESSONS? GO TO YOUTUBE AND SEARCH, "BOB THE CANADIAN"If you enjoy these lessons please consider supporting me at: http://www.patreon.com/bobthecanadianThe other phrase I wanted to teach you today is to be steamed. When you're steamed, it simply means you're angry. Like you could say, oh, I was late for work five days in a row, my boss was steamed. It just means that your boss was really, really angry. When you say someone is steamed, it means they are not happy and sometimes not happy with you.So to review, to run out of steam means to be tired or exhausted, to be physically and mentally just done like you have no more energy left. And to be steamed simply means to be angry. Or maybe you eat your vegetables that way. The other day I ate steamed broccoli. The broccoli was steamed. So obviously it has other meanings as well. But hey, let's look at a comment from a previous video. This comment is from Vitor. Hello Bob. When you and Jen are at the market, do you notice what kind of flowers people like the most? I mean, different strokes for different folks. I don't think people will have preferences because all the flowers you produce are beautiful. You know, maybe it is good to know if one kind of flower is selling more than another. Thank you, Bob.Mohd chirps in: I'm also wondering what their best seller is. Probably peonies and lizzies. And then my response: It changes as the season progresses. People love to see the bouquets slowly change week to week. Like see different flowers in them. If we had the exact same flowers every week, people would get a bit bored. So sunflowers all season long, but peonies, then zinnias, then dahlias and then lisianthus are how the season progresses and changes. So thanks Vitor for that comment. And yeah, so we do have flowers that kind of, as the season goes along, become more popular. And people do like variety. People do like to see different flowers. So at this point in time, the Lizzies are starting to bloom. The dahlias are actually starting to bloom at the same time. But the question is, which is the most popular? You know, variety is the most popular. People like to see different flowers from week to week. They don't mind, like zinnias, lizzies dahlias. They don't mind buying the same flower.I think I just walked through a spider web with the camera. They don't mind buying the same flower for a few weeks, but not longer than three or four weeks. And then they're, you know, we're humans. We like to see new things. We like to experience new things. So certainly sunflowers, we just use all the time. They're kind of like a mainstay. You would say it's a pretty common flower. But throughout the rest of the season, people do like to see a little bit of variety and a little bit of change, especially towards the fall. They like to see more what we would call fall colors, colors like browns and deep oranges. Support the Show.

法国面包节(the French bread festival)是一个10-day event(10天的活动),今年将会end on the 16th (在16号结束)。面包节就在巴黎圣母院前面(right in front Notre Dame)举行,ittakes place in May each year(每年五月举行),是一个了解the process of making bread and pastries(蛋糕和糕点制作过程)的好机会。·pastry /ˈpeɪstri/ n. 油酥糕点节日的活动包括tasting sessions(试吃环节),人们可以sample(试吃)一些freshly baked bread(新鲜出炉的面包)。还会有live demonstrations(现场示范)来展示how to make baguettes and other types of bread(如何制作法棍和其它种类的面包)。·sample /ˈsæmpl/ v. 品尝;体验·demonstration /ˌdemənˈstreɪʃn/ n. 演示;示范中国也participated in this festival(参加了这个节日),并且showcased our own type of bread(展示了我们自己的面包)。 (Steamed buns were sent to represent the Chinese bread)。这件事shocked the Chinese netizens(让中国网友震惊了)。 法国面包节是这么“夸”中国馒头的:Based on wheat (小麦), flour (面粉), yeast (酵母) and then steamed (蒸制), the Mantou has a smooth surface (光滑的表面) and a dense crumb (细密的馒头屑). It is found in many shapes (形状),比如round (圆形的), leaf (树叶形的), and flower (花朵形的).·dense/dens/ adj. 关于面包的起源,有一个legend(传说)说是一个Egyptian slave(埃及奴隶)在烤面包的时候(when he was baking)睡着(fell asleep)了,然后accidentally let the bread ferment overnight(不小心让面包发酵了整晚),意外制作出了“面包”。当然,这也只是一个传说,we don't know whether it is true or not!·ferment/fərˈment/v. France and bread trulyisa love story!04 中国馒头都有啥花样?Basically, steamed buns to China is what bread is to France 馒头在中国饮食结构中非常重要,theNorthern Chinese typically haveMantou and noodles as their main source of carbs (北方人的碳水来源主要是馒头、面条等面食)。中国有各种各样的馒头(different types ofMantou),比如大枣饽饽,which isa type of steamed buns with dates (大枣),and it's got a bit of a sweet flavour(带点甜味)。中国人还会用馒头来symbolize good wishes(象征美好的寓意),比如面鱼,which isMantou in the shape of a fish。 说到法国的面包,baguette(法棍)肯定是第一名,it isprobably the most famous French bread。法棍可以说是“Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside”(外脆里软),难怪法国人每天去boulangerie(现烤面包店),排队买法棍(line up for baguettes every day)。 还说you have to eat baguette with cheese (吃法棍,一定要和奶酪一起吃) !·determine /dɪˈtɜːrmɪn/ v. 这种面包是跟olives(橄榄)、cheese以及anchovies(小咸鱼干)一起烤成的。“Fougasse”是咸口的(salty),很适合当afternoon snack(下午茶点),或者搭配a glass of wine(一杯葡萄酒)来吃。“Brioche”这种面包非常sweet,并且comes in different flavors(有很多不同口味)。梅莉说“Brioche”在法国的里昂(Lyon)非常popular,有粉色的sugar-coated almonds(裹着糖的杏仁),Anne听了之后觉得这应该她的“菜”(sounds like her type of bread),一定要找机会去里昂这座“美食之城”(foodie city)。最后就是经典的“Croissant”(牛角面包),吃起来特别flaky(酥脆),it's best enjoyed with a cup of café u lait (牛奶咖啡)。牛角包真的是a perfect way to start a French morning(开启一个法式清晨的最佳选择)!06 主播们最爱的面包和馒头是什么?提到最爱的面包,主播梅莉说尝试过很多(shehas tried so many),但她definitely recommend the baguette(还是最推荐法棍),可以pair it with butter and jam, and also with cheese(搭配黄油、果酱或奶酪)一起吃。梅莉还提到,她还爱吃pain au chocolate(巧克力面包),it is like a croissant but with chocolate inside。 因为巧克力面包的确卡路里很高(it's super high-calorie),but it's seriously good! Sounds like another guilty pleasure!

In the midst of these events, tensions rise as Finn (Tanner Novlan) stands accused by Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) of stirring up trouble between Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) and Hope Logan (Annika Noelle). Adding to the drama, Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) insists on holding a funeral for Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown), despite the objections of the Logan sisters - Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis), Katie Logan (Heather Tom), and Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang). With unexpected appearances from characters like Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E Bregman) and hints towards a possible return of Sheila Carter, the show keeps viewers on the edge of their seats on the CBS soap opera. As the series navigates through scandals, secrets, and intense emotions, the narrative promises more twists, especially around Luna Nozawa's mysterious past and the curious dynamics between Hope Logan and Finn. 可以搜索公号【璐璐的英文小酒馆】或者添加【luluxjg】咨询课程or加入社群,查看文稿和其他精彩内容哦~ Hi everyone, and welcome back to Britain Under the Microscope. Hi, Lulu. Hi, everyone. The other thing I have noticed is something called special fried rice. And so I was thinking what's so special about it? Because in China, if you say special fried rice and you think this 炒饭 must be amazing. This got like all these expensive things in it, like prawns and like seafood. It must be like gold.Yeah.Gold in it as well. Yeah. And then I realize it's just 扬州炒饭. It is. It's just 扬州炒饭. And I have no idea why it's called special fried rice. I think it's because in many restaurants it was a special, so it was like a speciality dish and the name just stuck, so it became special fried rice. And if you just want like normal rice, you call it steamed rice.Steamed rice or plain rice.Plain rice. But I always remember when my dad, because he loves Chinese takeaways. When my dad came to China, I asked him “what do you want to eat?” And he said “I have some special fried rice” and I just said “Dad, this is China, fried rice isn't very special”. I forgot does it also come in just numbers on the menu like No.68, No.57, that sort of thing. And you know the reason for that is.Why?Because many of the dishes people couldn't pronounce. Okay, well, special fried rice is not Chinese. But these are just some of the typical dishes. They do have some dishes, for example, like a version of 麻婆豆腐. They've got a version of that, but because not many people can say that.Mapo tofu, it's not that difficult. Kung Pao chicken, it's not that difficult. But it is difficult for somebody who's not really traveled and doesn't really know. So what they do is they use numbers.Another reason as well is that you have to think it was immigrants that opened these restaurants. And sometimes not even Chinese immigrants. Sometimes not even Chinese immigrants. Many of the takeaways were run by immigrants, and you have to think that their English was probably not completely proficient. Emm.So this was a way of both sides being able to communicate. So instead of saying “okay, I want crispy duck pancakes”, they'll go “I'll have number18”.Ah, I see.So it's very clear. I see.For what they want. This is more very efficient system. Exactly.

Chasing Tone - Guitar Podcast About Gear, Effects, Amps and Tone
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast which this week has been sponsored by Henning Pauly's new songwriting course! The guys start off with a little look at how the Cory Wong compressor first came to be with a couple of fond memories of our much missed tone brother Mr. Alex Clay who was integral to the conception of our latest pedal. Blake has been eyeing up new pickup sets and has settled on a brand and asks the guys for advice and almost immediately regrets it.Richard went to see a movie and tells us all about it - Brian cannot compute - so we start speculating about everyones favorite bazillionaire social media owning rocket melon. Richard has also fallen in love with a new guitar design and almost expires whilst looking at the price of it and Brian dips his toes into the world of MusicMan guitars.Blake has been listening to Dwight Yoakam and he and Brian reminisce via the medium of Elvis tainted vocal impersonations and bizarre anniversary related thoughts. Inevitably Brian finds a way of shoehorning more AI content in and so does so whilst plotting the ultimate prank and Richard is not convinced...Piloting tip of the week, Cheese sections, Brian's strat confessions begin, Steamed hats, Peshwari Nan ...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!Check out Henning's awesome new songwriting course here Buy the new Wampler x Cory Wong Compressor HereWe are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Merch and DIY mods:https://modyourownpedal.com/collections/booksFind us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comSupport the show
