Alright gang, this one's a shorty and I'm keeping the show notes tight! On this week's ep we got our big contest winner Cory on to guess the Final Four of our beer bracket up against Tony. We tossed Cory down the well where Tony has neatly organized and cataloged all of his finest pornos by length, decade, and hair style top and bottom. A champion will be crowned! The hosts were too drunk. Enjoy.
The Hoppy Boys couldn't find anyone else to cover this bracket so they resorted to Richie. He reluctantly came on the show and didn't seem to enjoy a minute of it. Hopefully there is at least one salvageable minute of content in this 2 hour extravaganza. Brian accidentally gets wasted which is always good for the pod.

Christian & Thad pay tribute to the big basketball tournament for colleges that is back in 2021. We decide to do our own tournament of champions with beer. The first ever mBR Fight Flight Beer Bracket. Shout Out Cousin Danny for the idea of a flight fight. We pop into Hop Station Craft Beer Bar, Indiana's #1 Craft Beer Bar, and have the owners/beer experts Casey & DJ Stuber pick out a flight of their favorite beers that they have on tap. This is only 8 beers, two fights, of the 30+ craft beers on tap at Hop Station. We set them up head-to-head and vote for the winner. If Christian & Thad can't pick the winner we go to a tie break from Assistant Brewers Uncle Dave & Patrick (MEGA President). Fid who is the champion... of the world or mBR. Welcome to the 2nd Annual Utah Beer News Beer Bracket Battle. Longtime listeners of the podcast might remember that our inaugural Beer Bracket Battle had hit the airwaves just as non-essential businesses were forced to shut down in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19. That was last March. It seems like much longer, though, doesn’t it? As a refresher, in our first competition, my buddy Dave Baker and I matched up eight local beers in head-to-head tastings. We pitted IPAs against each other, for instance, in one matchup and dark beers in another. Templin Family Brewing’s Granary Kellerbier bested seven other beers to come out on top a year ago. And now here we are back for another go. This time we have selected eight different beers from eight different breweries — and none of the beers or breweries are repeats from the inaugural battle. Plus, we have an additional taster. Dave is back, but this time we also welcome Ben Raskin. You might know Benny from Episode 39 of the Utah Beer News Podcast. Ben is an everyday imbiber. But more than that he is someone who knows a thing or two about booze in the Beehive State. If you’re new to the podcast, as a reminder, Dave Baker is a longtime craft beer connoisseur and an award-winning homebrewer. He also is a professional writer and editor (as is Ben). Whether or not you’re an NCAA basketball junkie or you couldn’t care less about One Shining Moment, the fact that you’re listening to this podcast means there’s a good chance you’re a fan of Utah craft beer. For the sake of time (and the health of our livers) we opted to forego a field of 68 or even 64. Rather, we selected our very own Elite Eight. Eight beers from eight different Utah breweries vying for the title of 2021 Utah Beer News Beer Bracket Battle champ. It’s not really a contest, of course, and there are no prizes awarded. With that in mind, here are a few housekeeping items: This is in no way scientific. It is for entertainment purposes only. We didn’t create spreadsheets evaluating, say, IPA rankings. We didn’t track sales data to learn which beer is Utah’s best-seller. We didn’t look at Untappd ratings. This year I made a concerted effort to grab beers from breweries that weren’t represented in last year’s competition. I also expanded the footprint to include Ogden breweries (next year, I’ll do my best to track down beers from the southern half of the state). I picked up each of the eight beers at the source — the individual breweries. And let me tell you, wouldn’t it be nice to at least have an option to have craft beer delivered to us? Write your representatives. For an accompanying article about the 2021 Utah Beer News Beer Bracket Battle, please visit UtahBeerNews.com. Enjoy the episode! Episode 46 | March 15, 2021

Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician: For Syracuse Orange fans
You may recall the "old" days of this podcast that spent a ton of time being very off topic and not a lot of time talking about Syracuse. We hope it's matured since then, but that experience puts us in prime position to succeed in these times of no Orange sports for months now. Still, this episode discusses a lot of Syracuse... and beer. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The NCAA may have canceled its men's and women's basketball tournaments, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy our own March Madness — Utah Beer News style. On this episode of the podcast, which we recorded on March 6, 2020, Dave Baker and Tim Haran selected eight beers from eight different breweries to vie for the title in a beer bracket challenge. For the sake of time (and the health of our livers) we opted to forego a field of 68 or even 64. Rather, we selected our very own Elite Eight. Eight beers from eight different Utah breweries vying for the title of 2020 Utah Beer News Beer Bracket Challenge champ. It’s not really a contest, of course, and there are no prizes awarded. Taste is subjective. With that in mind, here are a few notes: Again, this isn't scientific. It's for entertainment purposes only. In other words, we didn’t create spreadsheets evaluating IPA rankings. We didn’t track sales data to learn which lager is Utah’s best-seller. I selected eight beers that are anecdotally (and sometimes empirically) well-regarded. Or that I simply enjoy. I also tried to pick four head-to-head matchups that compared similar styles and ABV amounts. The beers are also relatively easy to find around Salt Lake (yes, that’s another limitation — we didn’t venture outside the valley to procure the contestants). I purchased all but one at the source (I picked up one beer at my local Harmons after learning it wasn’t available at the brewery’s package agency). All that said: I hope you enjoy this episode. I really like these tasting podcasts with Dave because he’s so knowledgeable about craft beer. If you’re new to the podcast, Dave is a longtime craft beer connoisseur and an award-winning homebrewer. He also is a professional writer and editor and a contributor to utahbeernews.com. Thank you for listening. Please sit back and enjoy the episode. In this action packed episode, the hosts delve into four tantalizing Tröegs ales. They start with the year-round options Troegenator and LaGrave. Satisfied with their choices, the hosts move on to the elusive Nugget Nectar, then finish with a Mad Elf they fortuitously saved from Christmas. In addition to the brews, Dan and Chris reminisce about their time at the Tröegs brewery, including all its delicious beers and foods, and thanks to his meticulous beer tracking via Untappd, Chris can pinpoint exactly when he's had Tröegs' rare Scratch Series. Since they were driving down Memory Lane anyway, Dan and Chris also bring up a film they made in their misbegotten youth, The Chronicles of Shirtfinder. For some reason that is still highly unknown, the hosts also say "cockles" a lot in this episode. A bit more on topic, they also discuss the Beer Bracket that Untappd has running, and bring back the segment What I've Been Drinking. Lastly, no episode of YBOH would be complete without a story from Dan on beers and bathrooms.
