Sixers Beat Writer Adam Aaronson from The Rights to Ricky Sanchez joined the podcast to revisit one of the most insane times in Sixers fandom history, Burnergate! Before this, we touched on the news that the NBA is investigating the Sixers and James Harden for tampering ... which should not be a surprise to anyone! Next we dove head first into Burnergate where we talked about the night that the Ringer story from Ben Detrick first broke, the origins of his "source" for this story and how Adam started digging into the burner accounts himself. We also discussed his disdain for his own players in the tweets including former number one overall pick Markelle Fultz and Sixers MVP candidate Joel Embiid and some of the most insane tweets that Adam found while searching through the Twitter accounts. Including one tweet that blew my mind. Finally we discussed an alternative universe in which Colangelo is never first and how that could have effected the Sixers 2018 and 2019 moves and changed the trajectory of the franchise. Enjoy! Bonus Episodes Every Week @ patreon.com/PodDontLie Giannis Antetokounmpo, the NBA's best player, was unfortunately eliminated from the playoffs despite becoming the first player in NBA history to post 200 points, 100 rebounds and 50 assists in a single series-- he accumulated 237 points (for an average of 33.9 per game), 103 rebounds (14.7 per game) and 50 assists for a team that was missing its second All Star, Khris Middleton, who's scoring and perimeter defense surely would have provided the very slight bump Giannis needed to overcome an ultimately fraudulent Boston Celtics team that benefited from lucky shooting and a generous whistle in the closeout game 7 of this classic series, that saw Al Horford very suspiciously post his career high in playoff scoring at the age of at 35. At the present time there is no investigation planned by the league to examine Horford's sudden-- and possibly chemically induced-- rejuvenation. Ben Detrick joins us to discuss this result, the future of his beloved Sixers, and preview the conference championships.

In today’s episode of ‘No Particular Hurry,’ Dave Early chats with Ben Detrick, the reporter who broke The Curious Case of Bryan Colangelo and the Secret Twitter Account story for The Ringer. That piece and the ensuing fallout led to former team President Bryan Colangelo resigning. In the piece they get into pickup hoops in the time of Covid-19, former-Sixers balling in the bubble, ‘would you rather…. Jerami Grant or Tobias Harris?’ A deep dive into the Sixers’ ‘shadowy cabal’ of decision makers, a sourced scoop (!) and Ben’s sources on something that what went down between front office and management in the days between his Twitter burner account report and BC resigning. We read a couple of tweets from one of the burners ‘Still Ballin’ and discuss what (if any) insight it provides on current power dynamics. Also discussed: a conspiracy theory on the Sixers “inexplicable loyalty” to Colangelo-hired lieutenants, somehow even tied to (dum dum dummm) Adam silver?! Is even Joel susceptible to boomer takes about dominating the post and Ben Simmons’ need to shoot 3s? A surprisingly rosy view of how all is not lost with two legit top-tier superstars! And plenty more. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
