Welcome to the 3-timers club, B.J. Colangelo! The intrepid co-host of This Ends At Prom and /Film staple returns with a 2000s horror comedy that is, for better and worse, a cultural time capsule: Monster Man. Misogyny runs rampant in this wannabe direct-to-video American Pie sequel, but to a comically exaggerated degree that shines a light on social norms of the period. Then the Joy Ride and Texas Chain Saw vibes take over, with eyeball chili and corpses crushed into ground beef. It's a raunchy caricature sure to give 2000s kids PTSD, but weirdly enough, and because behaviors are so significantly overstated, that's ultimately the film's "charm."

In this Mindset Monday episode of Skin Anarchy, Dr. Ekta sits down with Dr. Julia Colangelo to unpack the transformative power of flow state—a mental zone where creativity, clarity, and ease converge. A therapist, educator, and researcher in the psychology of flow, Dr. Julia explains how this state of consciousness helps us tap into regenerative energy and unlock our deepest creative potential.Flow isn't just about peak productivity—it's a practice of sustainable, aligned doing. While mindfulness asks us to notice the present moment, flow challenges us to channel that awareness into meaningful action. Dr. Julia shares how flow helped her recover from burnout and how it can serve as a tool for healing and self-empowerment.Listeners will learn why we lose our natural ability to enter flow as we age, how societal expectations and trauma can block our access to this state, and how to create rituals that welcome flow into daily life. Dr. Julia introduces the concept of regenerative flow—a cycle of activation and recovery that prevents burnout and supports long-term creativity and well-being.From neuroscience to nature, this conversation touches on how intentional energy use, communication, and lifestyle design can help anyone—especially women and caregivers—reclaim space for their creativity.Tune in to learn why flow isn't just a productivity hack—it's a feminist act of self-preservation and a neuroscience-backed gateway to joy, resilience, and innovation.CHAPTERS:(0:02) Introduction to Flow State and Dr. Julia Colangelo(1:13) Dr. Julia Colangelo's Journey into Flow Research(1:50) What is Flow State and How It Relates to Childhood(4:26) The Difference Between Mindfulness and Flow State(6:10) How Flow State Enhances Creativity and Performance(7:28) Cultivating Flow State and Setting Up for Success(10:06) Self-Compassion and Energy Management for Flow(17:22) Integrating Flow State into Daily Life(24:04) The Science of Sustainable and Regenerative Flow StatesTo learn more about Dr. Julia Colangelo, visit her website and social media.Don't forget to subscribe to Skin Anarchy on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or your preferred platform. Frequent mirror checks, comments from teammates and parents, and feeling the need to “earn” food—these are common red flags of disordered eating in youth sports. In the first of a three-part series, Sara Gross and guest co-host Jill Colangelo explore eating disorders among young female athletes, a growing concern for parents and coaches.Colangelo, a researcher in Forensic and Sports Psychiatry, speaks with Sarah Naticchia, a Harvard-trained athlete who shares her struggles with disordered eating in high school and college. Also joining the conversation is Stephanie Roth-Goldberg, LCSW, CEDS-C, a psychotherapist specializing in eating disorders and athletes.Together, they discuss the pressures young athletes face, the need for a cultural shift toward health over aesthetics, and how parents can support their children by focusing on well-being and performance rather than appearance.Sign up to Receive The Feisty 40+ Newsletter:https://www.feistymenopause.com/blog/Feisty-40-plus Sign up to Receive The Feist Newsletter:https://www.womensperformance.com/the-feist Follow us on Instagram:@feisty_womens_performance Feisty Media Website:https://livefeisty.com/ https://www.womensperformance.com/ Support our Partners:Previnex: Get 15% off your first order with the code PERFORMANCE at https://www.previnex.com/

With many macro headwinds for the wine world, Gino Colangelo, founder of Colangelo PR, felt the negative and often poorly fact-checked press around alcohol and health posed an existential threat. Teaming with Karen McNeil of The Wine Bible and fellow PR leader Kimberly Charles, they founded Come Over October, a campaign to create a positive narrative around wine. With freely available media assets and over 120 partners, the movement, in its first stretch, has shown the power of focusing on the positive elements of wine. HELLOOOO! Brooke and Jordan are rejoined by BJ and Harmony Colangelo (This Ends at Prom) to talk this Chris Columbus 1993 blockbuster which has aged...pretty well, actually!? There's outwardly gay supporting characters, there's a charming message about how family can look like anything, there's a nearly $500M box office take, and – oh, no, there are definitely still a few transphobic jokes. But we tackle that, 90s culture, 2020s culture, movies set in San Francisco, the loss of the family comedy, and if spin-off Broadway musicals are ever any good.Follow us on Twitter and IG! It's eve of Halloween (or "All Hallows' Eve-Eve"), and so it seemed appropriate to do an episode all about QUEER HORROR! When writer and film analyst BJ Colangelo was first on the pod back in March of 2022, we scratched the surface of the indelible link between queerness and the horror genre. Now, in honor of spooky season, BJ is back with her wife Harmony for an exhaustive deep dive! The Wives Colangelo (TM) discuss how, when it comes to horror, "the absolute building blocks and foundational texts of the genre are either made by queer people, or they are queer stories." It's an episode full of revelations (Chucky has a non-binary kid?! Hellraiser is based on gay S&M clubs?!) and controversial hot takes! Whether you're a horror aficionado or, like Lauren, you only ever watch the smooching scene compilations on YouTube, it's a thoroughly delightful and absolutely fascinating episode about how our community SLAYS the horror genre (#halloweenpuns). Do something. That's what The Wine Bible author and wine expert Karen MacNeil said to herself when she was thinking about media stories focusing on alcohol's negative effects - but not the positive communal, cultural, historic and yes, cardiac health aspects of wine. Now there is a new campaign to bring people back to the table, the communal table, not necessarily the bar. It is called Come Over October. And today on the podcast, we get the lowdown on this effort and why you might wanna give it a try. Karen's brainstorm about wine bringing people together quickly caught on. She enlisted wine communicator wizes Kimberly Noelle Charles, DipWSET, of Charles Communications and Gino Colangelo of Colangelo & Partners to work together fleshing out a campaign and spreading the word. Karen returns to Sip Sip Hooray (link to her previous episode below). She is joined by Joseph Phelps Vineyards Maison President David Pearson to share with our listeners what Come Over October is - and isn't (hint: it's not a wild party) and why it matters.

Today's show opens with the most recent hoax created by the Left and is being repeated by the Legacy/mainstream media and their paid stooges on social media. The hoax is called, Trump's Project 2025. It is nothing more than fearporn and a complete fabrication. Even the website is registered to the Joe Biden campaign. Marc Elias is nothing by a bed-wetting operative for the Marxist/socialists in the Democrat party, pushing that narrative. While we are distracted with the incompetence of Joe Biden, we may have missed a few things in the news. The House GOP revealed they have an email showing a connection between the office of New York Attorney General Lettia James and Mattew Colangelo as he moved into Alvin Bragg's NYC DA's office. Colangelo also listed two high-level White House operatives as professional references. Another item relates to California state senate bill 1414 which would make the selling of a child for the purposes of sex a felony. A group of LGBTQ activists testified that such a law would disproportionately attack their community. Now, why would they think that? The floating dock is going to be permanently dismantled after only operating for 21 days. Once again, that one story is a perfect microcosm for the Joe Biden presidency. Getting back to Joe Biden's problems, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was on MSNBC and was asked if she wanted Biden to still be the nominee. She had a politician's response. She said, “I want to him to do whatever he decides to do.” Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS), who is a practicing physician says he and the other doctors in the Legislature have talked about Joe's symptoms. They agree with the Parkinson's specialist who spoke on NBC NOW yesterday. Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) told CNN he doesn't want Biden to run. He said, “Donald Trump is on track, I think, to win the election – and maybe win it by a landslide – and take with him the Senate and the House.” National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby went on with Brett Baier on Fox News to try to calm the reactions over dementia Joe. Unfortunately, Kirby tried using a story from two years ago as an example of how well he could handle a “middle of the night” emergency phone call. What's worse, the story was horrible even then. George Clooney just penned an Op-Ed in the NYT saying the Biden of the Thursday debate was the same Biden during the big fund-raiser her through three weeks earlier. Funny, no one mentioned Joe's cognitive issues then! George Stephanopoulos got caught on a TMZ hit saying he didn't think Biden can serve another four years. He has been made to apologize for telling the truth. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) is daring Democrats to vote no on the SAVE Act. I also think the vote will be great campaign material and will provide a list of those who need to be primaried if any Republicans do not support the legislation. Finally, even on CNN, they are stating what many of us have said since she was selected as the VP. Donald Trump has been saying this on the campaign as well, that Kamala Harris was selected by Joe and an insurance policy to make sure he wasn't removed from the Presidency. What You Need to Know is the push against gas stoves isn't just about compliance - it's about reliance. The left is pushing us toward the grid and toward so-called “renewables.” The goal has nothing to do with saving the planet (the Net Zero agenda is a crock anyway!) or even helping energy costs. This is a command and control plan to make people more reliant on the grid and on government regulation itself. The rub is that SCOTUS is poised to deliver more major blows to the Executive Branch's regulatory rampage. George Landrith, president of Frontiers of Freedom and author of Let Freedom Ring…Again: Can Self-Evident Truths Save America From Further Decline?, joins Ed to talk about the optimism he has that our country can be corrected and become, once again, the land of the free. Quality of life has declined and the democrat party has veered so far left that lifelong blue voters are beginning to analyze and question the things being done. George finishes on the issue of mal education in young people and the reasons parents deserve to have school choice for their children. John Zadrozny is an experienced attorney that served the Trump Administration from the transition team to Domestic Policy Council to the State Dept. and even Citizenship and Immigration. John joins Ed to talk about Matthew Colangelo, the former #3 guy in Biden's Department of Justice. The evidence shows Biden and Attorney General Garland deployed Colangelo to help Alvin Bragg's office during the Trump trial. It's very unusual for someone to go from a high ranking federal position to a state position. John also covers Biden's joke of a “border executive order” along with the Democrat Party's radicalization that has put Biden in a tough spot. It has been a wild time, post conviction for President Trump. Within 48 hours of the guilty verdict, the Trump campaign brought in an estimated $70 million. Trump joined tiktok, got 66 million views and an overwhelming reception at UFC 302. Elie Honig, expert legal analyst at CNN of all places gives the perfect explanation as to how the Trump conviction was a political hit job. Meanwhile on ABC "This Week" George Stephanopoulos threw a hissy-fit when a Trump lawyer pushed back on how Colangelo left the Biden administration to join Bragg's NY DA office and prosecute Trump. With me today is Tim Sheehy in a crucial race in Montana against democratic operative Jon Tester. With the National Republican Senatorial Committee naming Montana one of the 4 most important races, Sheehy explains how he intends to defeat "Two-Faced Tester." Learn more about your ad choices. Mike Davis is founder of the Article III Project, committed to protecting the rule of law. The jury heads into deliberations in the trial against president Trump, his team, led by Todd Blanche did an effective job proving that there has not been a crime committed here. There is no crime in a businessman settling nuisance claims. Meanwhile on the other hand, the prosecution is still trying to figure out what the legal allegations are against president Trump. Furthermore, the jury does not have to agree on what he is guilty of and can be split 4-4-4 and will still be considered unanimous. Judge Merchan is under pressure to deliver in this partisan ploy, whose daughter is raising millions of dollars for Biden democrats. Davis predicts the rigged, corrupt, partisan trial led by Merchan, Bragg and Colangelo will lead to a guilty conviction! With so many reversible, illegal, unconstitutional errors, it will be reversed in the appellate court. The "threat to democracy" tour shouted by democrats continued with Robert De Niro outside the courthouse with Biden's comms director Michael Tyler. De Niro got heckled throughout as he flustered and stumbled through his speech on how Trump is a tyrant. Ken Burns sang the same tired tune at a commencement speech at Brandeis University calling Trump "the opioid of opioids" and a "national suicide." Sorry can we roll the tape on Trump's 4 years and Biden's 3.5? The silver-lining in all this is that the American people see through the lawfare, the attacks and attempt to dictate the narrative, which is only playing into Trump's hand. The further they push it, the closer president Trump gets to a landslide victory this November. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Initially considered "just another slasher film" during its 1983 release, Sleepaway Camp has since emerged as a cult classic due to its talented young cast, remarkable practical effects, and notorious ending. But although the queer themes explored in its memorable final moments were initially intended to shock and unsettle audiences, Sleepaway Camp's empathetic portrayal of its unlikely killer sets it apart from other "trans panic" films of its time. Together, BJ & Harmony Colangelo assess where Sleepaway Camp falls in the slasher canon and do a deep dive on the film's themes and legacy, exploring how changing attitudes towards the LGBT community has led to both a reclamation and necessary critique of the film by modern audiences. Sleepaway Camp's divisive reputation has inspired a decades-long debate that changes alongside the attitudes and culture of its viewers. Through historical context, personal memoir, and film history, the Wives Colangelo explain what's kept audiences talking about Angela Baker and Camp Arawak after all these years. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/followingfilms/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/followingfilms/support
This episode revolves around the prosecution's opening argument in Donald Trump's criminal trial and whether or not the prosecution provided enough evidence to prove their case. Hawk reads the entire transcript of the opening statement delivered by prosecutor Matthew Colangelo on behalf of the Manhattan District Attorney's office. Colangelo meticulously lays out the prosecution's case, accusing Trump of orchestrating a criminal conspiracy to influence the 2016 presidential election by concealing damaging information about himself and paying hush money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.Hawk asserts that the prosecution not only met but exceeded the commitments made in their opening statement, delivering overwhelming evidence that aligned precisely with Colangelo's outline. He encourages the listeners to reflect on the evidence presented during the trial, emphasizing the prosecution's ability to substantiate every claim made in the opening argument, and expresses confidence in the jury's ability to find Trump guilty of the 34 counts of falsifying business records based on the compelling evidence. Jim Jordan sent a letter to AG Merrick Garland regarding Matthew Colangelo, a lead prosecutor in Trump's Manhattan criminal case, requesting documents and communications from Colangelo's tenure at the Biden DOJ. * Special counsel Jack Smith was hit with an ethics complaint for allegedly seeking to unlawfully interfere in the 2024 presidential election. To unpack the movie trope of the Murderous Man in a Dress, prolific horror film analysts and writers BJ and Harmony Colangelo discuss with me all the complicated trans and drag “representation” in movies like Sleepaway Camp, Psycho, The Silence of the Lambs, Dressed to Kill, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. We'll look at how these crossdressing killers have affected the psyche of Americans through the decades, whether there is anything redeemable about these characters, and what they have to tell us about the horrors of the present day.
