Recorded May 17, 2026. Today's guest has experienced the game from nearly every angle. As a player, he was a standout goalkeeper at Lipscomb University, where he built a reputation for leadership, resilience, and professionalism. Those same qualities carried him into coaching, returning to his alma mater before making the jump to one of the premier programs in college soccer. Now as an assistant coach at Florida State University, Micah Bledsoe works primarily with the Seminoles' goalkeepers under head coach Brian Pensky. Florida State continues to set the standard in the women's college game, capturing ACC championships, producing professional players, and competing for national titles year after year. During Micah's first season on staff, the Seminoles claimed another ACC Tournament championship, reached the NCAA Tournament for the 25th consecutive season, and saw multiple players begin their professional careers in the NWSL.But what makes this conversation especially interesting is Micah's perspective. He's part of a new generation of goalkeeper coaches helping shape elite athletes while navigating the ever-changing landscape of college soccer, recruiting, player development, sports science, and the transfer portal. We're going to dive into his playing days at Lipscomb, the transition from player to coach, what it's like working with some of the best goalkeepers in the country at Florida State, how he approaches developing confidence and consistency in the position, and where he sees goalkeeper coaching heading in the years ahead. So grab your gloves, your coffee, or whatever gets you through your day, and join us for another great conversation. Please welcome Florida State assistant women's soccer coach... Micah Bledsoe.

Goalies already put enough pressure on themselves. There are coaches… there are builders… and then there are legacy-makers.This episode of 3 Old Goalies steps into rare air.We sit down with a man whose career isn't just measured in wins and losses, but in lives impacted, programs built, and a lifelong commitment to serving others. From the sidelines to the classroom to the boardroom, Woody Gibson's journey is a masterclass in what it truly means to give back to the game that gave you everything. At High Point University, Gibson didn't just coach soccer… he helped shape an entire athletic department. Over nearly four decades, he wore just about every hat imaginable: head coach, athletic director, professor, mentor. And somehow, he made each role feel like it was the most important one in the world. On the field, he built winners. • 200+ career wins as a men's soccer coach • Multiple conference titles • National tournament appearances year after yearOff the field? That's where his impact echoes the loudest.Woody Gibson is the kind of leader who believes players were students first, people always. A coach who taught lessons that lasted longer than any season. A mentor who viewed success not as trophies, but as the ripple effect of investing in others. And that mindset didn't stop at soccer. From helping guide High Point's transition through multiple NCAA levels… to building academic programs… to serving on national committees… to continuing his work in nonprofit leadership and veteran support… his story is one long, steady drumbeat of service.
