This week on The Unbeatable Mind, Catherine Divine returns to discuss the second of the five mountains—-the ‘mental mountain!' This mountain serves as a pathway towards developing important skills like creativity, compassion, intuition, and insight.    Together, Mark and Catherine explore the many intricacies of the mind, and delve into concepts like critical thinking and cognitive bias. They muse on the development of uniquely human skills—skills that are without a doubt essential for thriving in the age of artificial intelligence. Practical techniques—-such as box breathing and mindfulness are discussed as practices to assist in taming one's ‘monkey mind', and developing a focussed and resilient mental state.    Key Takeaways: Cognitive Bias & Critical Thinking: Understand the filters placed upon our mind by social conditioning and the limits of our own perception—-and how this relates to thinking critically. Developing Mental Discipline: Learn various practical techniques to apply in the development of mental discipline, and recognize the necessity of calmness.  Free Will & Ego Death: Ponder the idea that free will is something that must be earned through mental training and the ‘fortification' of the ego.    Catherine Divine is a leadership coach, author, and yoga instructor with over 20 years of experience helping leaders unlock their full potential. Coauthor of Kokoro Yoga with her stepfather, Mark Divine, and author of Sacred Silence, Catherine holds a Master's in Transformative Leadership from CIIS and is pursuing a PhD in East-West Psychology. Laws of Abundance
Forgiveness is FOR YOU - Let Go of the Hurt and Start Living Your Life

Laws of Abundance

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 25, 2024 11:01

Forgiveness - the big F word. It sounds so simple but is the most difficult. Why is it so important to forgive? And how do we actually forgive?  To forgive is to release the hold a hurt or injury has on your physical and metaphysical self.  The release cuts the cord to the negative energy that is binding you to an old self and way of being.  If you can  let go of the attachment to the pain and lower frequency emotion, you will allow  space in your heart to heal. And by healing from the heart you increase your capacity to love yourself and others. You raise your frequency to a higher vibrational state and attract more positive things and people to yourself.  This is why forgiveness isn't for the person you forgive. It is FOR YOU.     Forgiving ourselves and others is absolutely necessary for us to be able to grow, shift and evolve.  And evolution/evolving is essential to living your highest life. If we trap ourselves in a box and refuse to change and grow, we lose access to so much abundance. .   Our energy is instead occupied and used to hold on to the past.  And then we get physically or mentally sick. We become  sick and tired and then we get angry because we are sick and tired of being sick and tired and then we start to blame everything outside ourselves for the illness taking over our lives. When the perpetrator of all of it is the person in the mirror.    Our refusal to evolve. Our fear of change.  Our attachments to the status quo. Our inability to forgive ourselves for our mistakes are all chains. If we  choose forgiveness we can liberate ourselves. .  Flush it down the proverbial toilet and free up all that energy to actually live our life. And living life is worth more than the need to hold on to the hurt.   But how? That is the big question.   As this is not an act we can think ourselves into. Overthinking exacerbates the challenge, it roots the pattern of regret and resentment, anger or feeling wronged, and  triggering thoughts that  “something is wrong with me,I'm broken, and unlovable” Thoughts create our reality.  As within so without. So an intercessor of sorts is needed - our will, our heart that is connected to source - and our surrender to just that.   Sweet surrender!   By enacting the will to release it to  God/Jesus/source - (whatever you name your universal power) and ask it to carry this hurt  away from you.   Surrender and activate the  strength of your positive ego and the collective consciousness of the masters of light behind you to make it happen. We can call in Gods and Goddesses of forgiveness to help us, like Quan Yin, Jesus Christ, Holy Mother Mary, Buddha.   So how do you forgive? Invite help from your source, activate the light from within you and your divine masters, surrender, radically accept that you cannot change the past but only the future, and then release! A year ago my brand new car was stolen. I meditated with Buddha and Jesus to reach the place of nonattachment. To forgive the thieves who took my car, as well as, some irreplaceable items near to my heart. I prayed for forgiveness for the  thieves. “I forgive you,” I would pray. And then I would  say to myself, I forgive youfor leaving all the things I left in the car that disappeared with it. In the end it was stuff, but much of it was irreplaceable tools from my healing practice.  This took  focus, but in the end, it was easier to forgive than to accept the injury INTO my life. I held gratitude for the car and renters insurance to compensate me for what was lost and moved on.  I let it go, and it gave myself new   space and energy to focus on. I focused on what was going right in my life and forgave what wasn't.    The  example of losing material stuff is an easy one.    Emotional forgiveness is much harder.  A knife into the heart from someone you trust is one of the hardest wounds to heal and forgive.  But it is also possible and when you reach that place you will stop the pattern from moving forward in your life. I speak from a place of great experience. I have been devastatingly betrayed at least 5 timesby past romantic partners The first time it happened I thought I had healed and moved on but I hadn't  and it stunted my growth from age 22 to 45 years old.  I played it safe (or so I thought) during those 23 years of life. I built walls so high around myself that I never thought I would be hurt again  I cautiously entered relationships with men who didn't require me to be vulnerable. And I wasn't vulnerable. . I did not ever want to trust again because I never healed the first wound in my heart.. So, I settled for being in a guarded castle.  And as a result, I invited in people to be romantic partners that felt no responsibility towards my heart and then replayed the same betrayal again and again. It was not until I took full personal responsibility for my choices and forgave myself that that specific  knife in my heart could finally be removed and that space could start to then heal. The key out of my self imposed cage was forgiveness.  And then immediately, as if by magic, my person who I could trust and form a healthy relationship   entered my life.    With forgiveness came radical acceptance of myself. Self love. Self respect. There is nothing wrong with me. I am not perfect by far. But I did not do anything Wrong. I was just afraid to be hurt again - so much so, that I CLUNG to my walls of security too hard and perpetuated the hurt upon  myself again and again. That is the lie of our negative ego. Stay Safe!  Don't let go! It will get better if you just hold on to this hurt! This is the way you protect yourself.Instead, the opposite happens. You have to let it go. You have to forgive yourself. You have to forgive those who hurt you. Forgiving doesn't mean condoning or accepting the behavior or allowing the hurt back into your life. Forgiving isn't being a doormat. Forgiving means you radically accept the situation and let go of the need to change the past, so you can change the future. Don't condone it, but forgive it.  Let go, so you can let in. “Forgive them Father, they know not what they do.”  Injuries of the heart, like betrayal may be the hardest to get over. But at the same time because Forgiveness is an act of the heart, and therefore is  an act of love, surrendering to its great Force can make it the easiest.  So, upon my release and actual acceptance and forgiveness of myself. My choice was to then radically love myself.  My choice was to allow myself  to y do more than yearn for a relationship. Give myself the ability to abandon my false sense of security for actual security.  Then and only then did the wound dissipate in my heart and I was able to live freely and attract my highest good.  I Love  is the intercessor. s It is the force flowing through us. Become  the container with an open  heart - to receive it and then give it away.  Love is not selfish. We are simply a conduit for its magic.  And now a  quote from the gospel of Mary Magdalene “What binds me has been slain, and what surrounds me has been overcome, and my desire has ended, and ignorance has died. In a world, I was released from a world.”   Without going on a tangent I want to note that in the Gospel of Mary, she explains the release from the 7 stages of the negative ego that bind us to our mundanity, our pain, our mediocrity, and keep us from evolving to our higher self and highest potential.  The key is  Love. The key is  forgiveness. The key is  surrendering to the force of the power greater than our  Monkey Mind. She continues “I was released from a world, and in a type from a heavenly type, and from the fetter of oblivion which is transient. From this time I will attain to the rest of the time, of the season, of the eaon, in silence.”  The chains that bind our heart and keep us trapped in pain are of our own creation. . And therefore, the will to set ourselves free is in our control. Forgiveness done right is powerful!  In opening our heart to the force that is love, we receive more than we could ever “give.” Forgiveness  disconnects us from that which injures us and allows us to reconnect to a true source of light. The power to love and be loved in return, is the beautiful gift of forgiveness. Forgive and watch how your life changes.  If you still feel stuck and are in need of additional support - I can help with that! I would love to help you on your journey to love and light. Wellness + Wisdom | Episode 683 Wellness + Wisdom Podcast Host and Wellness Force Media CEO, Josh Trent, shares the 7 practical steps to stop overthinking that he's learned through years of experience and interviewing hundreds of experts. Today's Question Holly: Beautiful conversation! Just discovered your podcast. Especially loved the parts that touched on capacity switching. We can be more fluid and switch gears with fluidity when we are feeling safe and can drop into the present moment.   If there's a topic that you'd like us to cover in the next AMA episode, record your message HERE. Listen To Episode 683 As Josh Trent Answers Your Questions [00:00] Intro What's up everybody, it's Josh Trent. This is Wellness + Wisdom, the place where we always look at the 5 sides of ourselves. What are those sides? Why are they important? What brought you here? You read the title, there's something in your heart and soul that got you to this place and it's this mastery concept of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial nourishment or starving of yourself. We call this the Wellness Pentagon and on these AMAs, they're called to ask me anything. They actually could be Ask Mar Anything because Mar's my co-pilot and I just realized that AMA has your letters in the title, Ask Mar Anything. Mar is our content manager. I am the host of this podcast. We've been going for almost a decade, which is crazy. It's fricking crazy to think about. But I've come across so much wisdom that I'm happy to share with you and Mar on her own spiritual path... [04:50] Depression + Anxiety... Anxiety comes in and it says, you should fear the future. You should ruminate on the future. Which really, I believe from my own work, that anxiety is essentially just a lack of self-trust that you'll be able to handle whatever the future brings. I know that's a new twist on anxiety, but if you're experiencing depression, it's the opposite, right? It's this rumination, this marinade on how you fucked up in the past or what happened to you instead of for you. It's this pulling you in the other direction out of the present moment. And I feel like whether it's anxiety or depression, both, they both come from the same place, and that is fear. And I'm not trying to reductionize this, although it sounds pretty reduced. It really is this simple. And in these 7 practices that we're gonna go over, they are simple, but it does not mean that they're going to be always easy, right? Because a lot of this, all of this comes from self-love. Like Mar, the things we're gonna go over today, and they're really actionable, like these are awesome things. Can somebody do any of these if they don't actually take a breath and choose to love enough to do it in the first place? Possibly not, I would say. I've been there. I've been in that place where I wasn't choosing myself, I didn't love myself enough so I made choices that were not right for me. And I did make the intent to do some breathwork and do some meditation, but it was so hard to do that. I was pushing myself, forcing myself to do it, but it didn't really help me at that moment. Yeah, that's a good point. That's a really good point. There are some moments where we choose to be it until we see it, not fake it until you make it. You can, even with the overwhelming anxiety and depression that somebody might be feeling, you can still set an evidence point outside yourself that you are, even if you don't feel worthy of it, that you are worthy of it. In other words, you don't have to feel worthy or feel loved in order to push yourself to your edge, to your uncomfortableness. [10:15] 7 Steps to Stop Overthinking This question is from @HollyZ9458 on YouTube. What did Holly say? She says: Beautiful conversation! Just discovered your podcast. Especially loved the parts that touched on capacity switching. We can be more fluid and switch gears with fluidity when we are feeling safe & can drop into the present moment. That's a good point, isn't it? She said this keyword, drop. So I always, and this is reverse engineering, whenever you hear something that you would to have that you don't currently have, or whenever you hear a problem, the answer, the love, the solution, is always 100% of the time encapsulated in the very question itself. I have never seen this prove me wrong. So if our goal is to drop into the body and drop into the present moment, then what are the ways in which we allow ourselves to be pulled out of it physically, emotionally, spiritually? So just, that's actually the path. And in the finance world, I heard somebody talk about this. I think it was 1 of those 2 big investors from Berkshire Hathaway. He was like, I always reverse engineer my life. I think about what are the things that could pull me out of the good and into the bad or the uncomfortable, and I just plan accordingly. So, Holly, this is beautiful because yes, you remind us that it's our loving responsibility to drop, stop what you're doing, and drop into the present moment. So the first thing I'm gonna talk about today, 1 of 7, is to stop overthinking, stop overthinking. Step number one is to breathe. It's so funny, we were searching for something here in the studio, I don't know if you remember this, and it was like right in the studio. I forget what it was, and I'm like, how many times have we been searching for something? Oh, you were looking for keys and you were holding them in your hand. Yes. Mar's like, where's the keys? And she's holding them. How many times do we hold something in our hand or is the answer right under our nose, but we just don't stop and drop and be aware of it? This is what breathwork is. It's right under your nose y'all. With me, take a big breath in through your nose and fill your belly for 2 seconds. Breathe it out. Do that 3 more times while I'm sharing with you. There is a bounty of content at JoshTrent.com/Podcast, search "breathwork." Probably 50 different pieces of beautiful, beautiful episodes and content that'll with you why I believe breathwork is the beginning of everything. I think if you're really wanting to embrace the now, you can't hold your breath. You just can't, it's impossible...Leave Wellness + Wisdom a Review on Apple Podcasts Links From Today's Show  668 Evolve Your Consciousness: The True Healing Work To BE An Adult, Learn How To Love + Live A Thriving Life | Margo Running JoshTrent.com/Podcast SaunaSpace - 10% off with discount code JOSH10 MANNA Vitality - 20% off with the code JOSH20

In this episode I provide an overview of one of my recently released digital streaming albums, Relax the Mind and Body Meditation. I describe the different types of meditations and ways to incorporate meditation into your life. A simple walk in nature, gardening, listening to music are forms of meditation. Meditation allows you to shut-off the conscious mind, releasing the endless chatter that enters the mind and allows you to release the so called “Monkey Mind”. Meditation can lead to a calmer state of being, better health and rest. It can also lead to a better connection to the animals in our life and all animals around us. I'm hopeful that Relax the Mind and Body Meditation will become part of your daily life. Enjoy! EPISODE NOTES: Tim Link - Relax the Mind and Body Meditation (Digital Streaming Album)

Examples: "Think about it - in sales, you might have a closer who shines at finalizing deals, but they rely on the prospecting and nurturing skills of their teammates. The series explores the book SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION written by Dr. George E. Vaillant. The author was a research psychiatrist at Harvard and served as a non-alcoholic Trustee for Alcoholics Anonymous. Spirituality is a hard concept to grasp, and his book helps make it more understandable. He defines spirituality as the realization of positive emotions such as love, hope, faith, joy, forgiveness, and compassion – along with awe and mystical illumination. The author argues we are evolving physically, culturally, and individually. This episode is focused on the geography of the brain and how it sets the stage for the spiritual journey.
