Alcorn State University President M. Christopher Brown II announced the university's decision to discontinue the annual football matchup between Alcorn State and Jackson State in Jackson, MS. Alcorn has decided to exercise the university's home game status in this year's football game. The game will be played Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. in the Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium on the Lorman campus dissolving the Capital City Classic. A travel basketball team with players from Clarke and Washington County is getting ready to get the season started. Loyalty Over Royalty will start on April 23-24 in Montgomery, playing in the Capital City Classic. It is a 17-Under team with young ladies from Thomasville, Grove Hill, Jackson, Chatom and McIntosh.
