In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Carly Evans. Carly has been walking beside people from all walks of life since 2005, supporting people through suicidal ideation, addictions, recovery from trauma and abuse and toxic relationships. She aims to help people to become their truest, most authentic version of themselves and to love themselves so much they won't let anyone or anything hold them back from living the life of their dreams. Carly's passion comes from a journey through her own trauma and lack of loving herself in the past. She has lost numerous people she loves through suicide, addictions and mental health issues. Through her failure to set strong boundaries she became drained in toxic and abusive relationships where her confidence and self-esteem were ground down over time. By continuously working on her own personal development and healing, Carly was able to overcome her challenges to truly step into her unapologetically authentic self, living her best life and supporting others to achieve the same. In this episode Holly and I are talking about the National Running Show, which took place last weekend. This was a big event for the podcast, as we were doing a talk on stage, and we were a little bit nervous about it – thankfully it's all over and done with now, and it went better than we could ever have expected! Did you see us there? We also talk about stress, and how that can affect our training negatively, something I'd be interested to hear from you about if this is something that has also happened to you. And then we talk about *that* Samsung advert and how I got caught up in a bit of a media storm! We talk about the danger of the advert in that it emphasises the belief that women feel safe and are empowered on every run, which isn't representative, and at the same time undermines our campaigning to make women feel safer. We then have a few emails to discuss – one of them is a question about breathing, which we will address with the help of an expert in a forthcoming episode. And we have a couple of brilliant embarrassing stories – thank you so much! More please!Tree HourWomen's Running and Earth Runs have joined together to help make a massive impact on our environment. This week we're talking hormones. Well, first of all we're talking about creepy blokes in spinning classes, swiftly followed by Wordle tactics. It's all going on. At one point, we even start talking about running. Then after a bit, I have a chat with Dr Nicky Keay from Forth who offer blood tests to track your hormones. This can be massively beneficial for women runners, as she explains. She talks to me about how mapping your hormones over the course of a month can benefit your general health and your training. I had a female hormone mapping test with them, and for me it indicated what I know – that I'm firmly perimenopausal. But Dr Nicky explains how the test can diagnose perimenopause and also RED-s, which can often show up with the same symptoms. So lots of chat about menopause, hormones, and owning your periods. Then it's back to Holly and me to talk about even MORE running annoyances with some emails we've had in from listeners. We thought we were going to be ostracised by the running community, but it turns out we've hit a nerve!Over on our Instagram page we've launched #Run4Ukraine because we want to do whatever we can to support people who need it most right now. THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast

I got teamed up on in this episode by two wonderful women who also happen to be great friends.  My co-host Carly Evans and Megan Vaughan met years ago and worked together in Manhattan, KS at a radio station prior to moving on and up in both of their careers. Megan Vaughan has quite possibly one of the most refreshing attitudes and personalities I’ve met in a long long time.  You’ll understand what I’m talking about as you listen.  Not only does Megan have her own business/career as a radio personality but through a few of her viral videos, she’s now sometimes referred to as the “Wine Workout Chick”. On a whim one day, Megan filmed a video of her working out while incorporating sips of wine, and the rest is history. Oh, and she’s also going to be a member of Carly’s wedding party next fall! This was a really cool interview I think you’ll all enjoy. I’ve linked a couple of her videos below. https://youtu.be/SEfap-ovRM0 https://youtu.be/pDknHCBotVA Here’s a link to her LinkedIn page:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/megan-vaughan-47113683 You can find out more about Megan her, his tour dates, music and more, as well as follow him on his social sites by going to his website at www.terrymcbridemusic.com. THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast

This is a momentous episode for us here at The Troubadour!  You are about to listen to episode #100 of a podcast that just started out as an idea in my vast and expansive cranium several years ago.  I’m truly humbled by how many great artists and individuals have agreed to come on the podcast and share their personal stories and experiences with us.  So, to all previous guests on the show, Thank You! Very little of the success The Troubadour has experienced would have been possible without my wonderful co-host Carly Evans agreeing to join me on this adventure.  I released about a dozen episodes on my own in the early days of this thing and quickly knew if I wanted it to morph into something greater, the ol skipper would have to make a call to the bullpen.  Thankfully, Carly enthusiastically jumped onboard.  Along with her gracious personality and professional skills as an on-air talent, Carly brought real credibility to what we’re doing here, so I can’t thank her enough for partnering with me. I also need to give a shout out to the various sponsors who have helped me cover the costs of producing this show.  While we’re always looking for more ways to pay the bills and other sponsors for the show, I especially would like to thank Brad and everyone at Kansas Territory Brewing.  They gave us the shot in the arm early on when we needed it right out of the gate and I won’t forget that. Finally, a big thanks goes out to you, the listeners and subscribers to the podcast who make what we are doing all worth it. In this special one hundredth episode, we get to interview one of the most successful songwriters over the past 20 years in country music.  He’s also had a major impact on several of the past guests we’ve had on the show.  Terry McBride is a native Texan who was surrounded by music at a very early age.  By the time he was in his teens he was touring with his Dad’s band.  As his career progressed, he was performing with people like Delbert McClinton and ended up going on to form his own band that found national success in McBride and The Ride. In more recent years he found himself playing bass and writing songs for the most successful duo in country music history, Brooks & Dunn. I think you’ll find this visit with Terry everything we hoped it would be for a special 100th episode.  So kick back, grab a cool one and enjoy.  Here comes episode #100 of The Troubadour featuring our new buddy, Terry McBride. You can find out more about Terry, his tour dates, music and more, as well as follow him on his social sites by going to his website at www.terrymcbridemusic.com. How YOU can support the podcast! THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast

Carly and I have got to talk to some incredible people and artists through this podcast and today is another notch in that gunstock. While this guest isn’t necessarily tied to music, he is a Texas artist in his own right.  Actor Barry Corbin has had an impressive career spanning decades.  One of his most recent roles that our audience would be familiar with is as Dale; a cranky, hard of hearing veterinarian on Netflix’s The Ranch.  He’s also appeared in Better Call Saul, Northern Exposure, and several movies on the big screen including Urban Cowboy, No Country For Old Men, and a long list of others. However, my favorite role of Barry’s thus far was that of his portrayal of Roscoe Brown; July Johnson’s hapless deputy in the Larry McMurtry classic, Lonesome Dove. During the interview we were also excited to find out that Barry will have an upcoming role in one of the most popular American Television Series running today in Yellowstone. I guarantee you, when I first had the idea for The Troubadour, I had no idea it would lead to interviews like the one you are about to hear.  A big thanks goes out to my partner in crime on this show, Carly Evans, for setting up such a memorable interview. Here comes Episode #97 of The Troubadour, featuring Actor Barry Corbin. How YOU can support the podcast! Carly Evans-  Carly Evans: I am a Transformational Life Coach, Cleanse Coach, Energy Worker and Reiki Master/Teacher who is ridonkulous passionate about supporting people to move past their shitty past traumas, towards the life they truly desire. I am especially passionate about helping those who are most disadvantaged - survivors of trauma and abuse, those with a mental illness and people experiencing conflict, chaos and crisis. However, I prefer to help in a way that encourages their strengths and is focused on the solution, not the problem. Every "problem" is really a chance to shed that which no longer serves us so we can move forward lighter and happier, with huge lessons and growth. With a background in psychology, forensic psychology, coaching, mental health, and criminal justice, I can handle pretty much any challenges that come my way! :) I use a number of different tools and each session is tailored to the specific person and situation. I do energy healing, coaching, removal of limiting beliefs, goal setting, chakra balancing, distant healing, space clearing, I teach energy work and can provide informal counseling. My clients are very diverse and range from the homeless and mentally unwell, those going through trauma and crises, to those who are in a space where they can focus on achieving massive life goals.   Links: Website Linkedin Twitter Facebook   Previous Episode 150 Listen to another #12minconvo

“Scorpio is the underworld, the skeletons in our closet... And here comes this bright, shiny light [Jupiter] being like ‘Hey, let’s look at that,’ and pretty much in tandem with Jupiter’s onset to Scorpio, the MeToo movement popped up.” In this interview Carly explains how we can look to astrology to better understand the energy that was the impetus for the MeToo movement - and where we are headed, if we do The Work. We also touch on the basics of astrology, how it can be used as a therapeutic modality and get into a few examples from my own birth chart. --------------------------------------------------- SUBSCRIBE to the show to be the first to hear about new episodes! For an original artist, getting your song on the radio is understandably a HUGE deal.  But, a lot of artists aspiring for AIRPLAY don’t even know where to begin or how that process works.  On today’s episode of The Troubadour I visit with the program director and on-air radio personality for KORA 98.3 FM, located in Bryan / College Station, TX, Carly Evans.  I had the pleasure of making Carly’s acquaintance earlier in both of our careers when she was an on-air personality in Hays, KS and I was a wet-behind-the-ears aspiring musical artist looking for ANY and ALL publicity I could get!  What gives this interview with Carly so much credibility, as it pertains the the Red Dirt / Texas Country genre, is that Carly’s career in Radio has primarily been at radio stations that have been known to show support for original artists within the scene.  She provides lots of insights into the nuts and bolts of radio and  some tips to aspiring artists on the best practices to gain the interest of program directors, music directors and DJs.  www.thetroubadourpodcast.com www.facebook.com/thetroubadourpodcast www.instagram.com/thetroubadourpodcast/ twitter: @thetroubadourP1
