Everything You Trusted ....Was Designed to Keep You AsleepBeloved,There's a particular kind of pain that comes not from physical injury, but from something far deeper—the shattering of trust in what we believed was good, true, and safe.It has a name: moral injury. And if you've been feeling confused or depressed, listen or read to the end.Moral injury happens when someone or something we deeply trusted—an authority figure, an institution, a system we built our lives around—reveals itself to be the opposite of what we believed it to be.

We are living in The Great Divide, and every day we decide which side of the line we stand on.In Luke 12:51-53, Jesus makes a bold statement: He did not come to bring peace through compromise, but to bring truth that demands a choice. Jesus isn't saying He loves conflict, He's saying the gospel forces a decision. Standing with Him will sometimes put us at odds with culture, and even with people we love. The tension we feel in our world today isn't truly about politics, race, gender, or preferences, that's just the narrative. What we are dealing with is a spiritual battle:⚔️ Good vs. Evil⚔️ Truth vs. Deception⚔️ Human vs. Demon⚔️ Jesus vs. Satan⚔️ Heaven vs. HellThis tension is about LORDSHIP:Will I follow Jesus or will I follow my flesh? You can't do both.Culture continues to grow louder, more emotional, and more divisive, from entertainment and social media to protests and cultural outrage. But all of it is fueling a narrative of anger and fear instead of truth and love. If we're not careful, it can pull us toward hatred, accusation, or indifference instead of biblical conviction.Jesus warns us in Revelation 3:15-16 that lukewarm living is not an option. We can't be Sunday Christians and Monday, Saturday atheists. We can't praise with our lips while compromising with our lives. We are not called to echo the culture. We are called to embody Christ. In this message, you'll be challenged to ask the real question:Are we standing with the Word of God or not?And as we speak against sin, we must remember we are forgiven sinners, not flawless judges. We don't excuse sin, but we also don't execute sinners. Jesus showed us both truth and mercy in John 8, calling people to drop their stones while still calling them to leave their life of sin.Now the decision is clear.“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15
We're headed on the road in 2026! Buy tickets here:https://www.x1entertainment.com/bttb"Let's get into the episode so we can bitch a lot! Yay, everyone wants to hear us bitch!" It's true, we can't get enough of it! And on Season 5's "The Great Divide" it turns out the other moms couldn't get enough of it either. With the ALDC back in Pittsburgh it doesn't take long for things to get heated as the fallout from the pretty disastrous trip to LA begin to pick apart what little group dynamic there was.Jill is worried about how she's being perceived for siding with Abby during the MattyB shoot. While she did initially support Holly, Jill knows if she crosses Abby it'll only lead to Kendall getting retaliated against and sees her pivot to Team Abby as a natural choice. Of course that doesn't sit right with Holly, who feels not only betrayed but believes Jill and Melissa's kowtowing to Abby sets a bad example for the girls and dooms only Nia to failure when there would have been strength in numbers. But Holly decides it's time she rethink how she views her friendships with the moms, in order to at the very least avoid future heartbreak. This in turn only makes Jill more frustrated with the situation.Abby is more concerned with the upcoming competition in New Jersey, which starts their teen division at age 12. This would mean the ALDC would have to compete against older dancers, and Abby doesn't think her girls stand a chance. In fact she makes clear that once one of her dancers enters the teen division, she no longer sees them as her student. Despite being an embarrassing admission of guilt in regards to her skillset ,the only person who'll suffer for it is Kalani who now has to sit out the group dance in order for the team to compete in the Junior category. Her consolation prize however is a solo with actually interesting and fresh choreography. Unfortunately Abby doesn't so easily forget when she feels wronged, and Nia in turn is presented with a very stale solo routine and isn't even given the dignity of having Abby pay attention to her rehearsal.Quotes“...or a priest because it was obviously another immaculate reception. Wait what is it? Conception, not reception! I'm from Pittsburgh, the Immaculate Reception is what we care about more." (02:15-02:24 | Christi)“I can do anything I put my mind to Christi! I know, you don't give up Kelly. If there's one thing I know it's that you perceiver, especially in the name of alcohol." (04:24-04:33 | Christi & Kelly)“Kira attempts to show some appreciation of Holly's actions and gives her kudos for doing it. Huh, as long as Holly's got kudos she doesn't need anyone backing her up!" (1:22:47-1:22:57 | Christi)“Kira and Jill both told me at the reunion that they never watched the show before they were on it. Oh, ok and I'm a natural blonde. Get outta here!" Join Here: https://ow.ly/msoH50WCu0K In the Notorious Mass Effect segment, Analytic Dreamz explores Noah Kahan's highly anticipated return with the new single "The Great Divide", released January 30, 2026, as the lead track and title song for his fourth studio album of the same name, arriving April 24, 2026.Following the massive success of Stick Season (2022)—which spawned viral hits, expanded editions in 2023, a Best New Artist Grammy nomination in 2024, and stadium-level touring—the 29-year-old Vermont native delivers his first new music in over a year. "The Great Divide" delves into emotional distance from rapid fame, reflecting on the gap between past and present self, strained ties with hometown friends and family, unsaid words, and unresolved conversations among those who grew up together but drifted apart. The narrative-driven music video—Kahan's first heavily story-focused—co-produced with Mastercard, premieres during the brand's commercial slot in the 2026 Grammy Awards broadcast (Sunday, February 1, 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS/Paramount+). Shot at a single gas station, it uses aging characters to symbolize evolving friendships, group conflicts, time's passage, and growing isolation. Full video streams at priceless.com/noahkahan, with a Mastercard sweepstakes launching post-premiere for Easter egg hunts, offering prizes like listening parties and Priceless Experiences.Recorded across Nashville (piano), Guilford VT (pond-side), Upstate NY (legendary studio), and Only, TN (farm with firetower), the album reunites Kahan with Stick Season producer Gabe Simon and adds Aaron Dessner. Themes center on childhood reflection, family, old friends, Vermont roots, regret, personal growth, and fame's isolating effects—described by Kahan as "the words I would say if I could" and "the fears I dance with before I drift off to sleep."Teased via TikTok's "The Last of the Bugs" account (nodding to "Everywhere, Everything" lyrics) since December 2025, with snippets of "The Great Divide" and possible "Porch Light." An upcoming documentary from Live Nation Productions, Federal Films, Polygram Entertainment, and RadicalMedia traces his arc from Busyhead and I Was / I Am to post-Stick Season stardom.Analytic Dreamz breaks down why this marks Kahan's cinematic, introspective next chapter, amplified by Grammy visibility, brand partnership, and fan-driven momentum—solidifying his shift to album-driven storytelling.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/analytic-dreamz-notorious-mass-effect/donationsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Ecclesiastes 3:11. God has put eternity in our hearts. What happens when we die has to be one of the most important questions in life and we look what the Scriptures have to say about this and our eternal destinies. We can rely on the truths revealed in the Scriptures.

Send us a textEver felt like no matter how hard you try, the goalposts keep moving and the finish line stays out of reach? We dig into why that ache exists, tracing it back to a truth most of us sense but struggle to name: we don't just commit sins—we have a sin nature. Pulling from Romans 3:23, we unpack the universal verdict that every person falls short of the glory of God, and we explain what “glory” really means: not applause for effort, but God's radiant, holy presence that we cannot enter by merit. From ancient mystery religions to modern rituals, we show how humanity keeps inventing ways to cover guilt—rites, penance, philanthropy, even spiritual performance. These paths echo fragments of the real story—purity, sacrifice, new life—yet stop short of the person who fulfills them. That's why the standard can't be lowered; holiness doesn't bend to public pressure. Instead, God meets the standard for us in Christ. We walk through the heart of justification by faith alone: God declares sinners righteous, not because we improved our record, but because Jesus completed the work in our place. The cross doesn't offer advice; it offers rescue. The verdict changes first, and new life flows from that new standing. You'll hear a powerful challenge that has changed lives for decades: if God asked why you should be welcomed into heaven, what would you say? We explore how placing trust in Jesus—not in religion or effort—answers that question with confidence. If you've been striving to bridge the gap with your own strength, this conversation invites you to step onto the only secure bridge: the cross of Christ. Forget the neat boxes and old assumptions—The Great Divide shows Willie Nelson coloring outside the lines with a full palette of collaborators, writers, and styles. We roll through all twelve tracks and talk honestly about what soars, what sags, and why this 2002 curveball still sparks debate. From the radio-ready snap of Maria (Shut Up and Kiss Me), penned by Rob Thomas, to the string-laced ache of Mendocino County Line with LeAnn Womack, the album keeps pivoting—sometimes smooth as velvet, sometimes rough with grit—and that friction is the point. We unpack how Kid Rock's gravel pushes against Willie's calm on Last Stand in Open Country, why Sheryl Crow's harmonies on Be There for You give the chorus its backbone, and how Bernie Taupin's storytelling muscle stitches American myth into modern production. The title track becomes our compass—starting small, swelling big, and braiding Western and Latin colors without losing Willie's porch-swing ease. And then there's the curve we didn't see coming: Just Dropped In, a psychedelic cover that crackles with personality and proves that interpretation can be its own brand of authorship. If you care about how legends evolve, collaborate, and curate, this listen is a master class in choices: arrangements that expand without suffocating, vocals that stay human inside glossy rooms, and a tracklist that risks inconsistency to chase moments of real spark. We share candid highlights, lowlights, and our final non-hit rankings so you can argue back with your own. Hit play, ride shotgun through the twists, and tell us where you land. If this breakdown moved you or made you rethink the record, follow the show, leave a review, and share it with a friend who loves a good album debate.Send us a textSupport the show
Today's Scripture: John 19:16-42This is a kingdom not of this world - not political but spiritual, more powerful and wonderful.
Liberals and conservatives are caught in a politically toxic feedback loop. Our guest, Zachary Elwood, argues that when people express contempt for those on the other side, they contribute to a cycle of conflict that weakens our nation.Increasingly, Americans view polarization as a worsening crisis. Two-thirds say the political system is too divided to solve the nation's problems. A New York Times - Siena University poll found that many more people now believe the system is broken compared with five years ago.Elwood explains that Americans don't just disagree on issues. We increasingly view our political adversaries as immoral, deluded, and dangerous. Our fear and contempt affect our stances on issues, making us more hardened in our views and less willing to compromise. Zachary Elwood is the author of two books on toxic polarization. The first was “Defusing American Anger”. On this podcast we hear all about his latest: “How Contempt Destroys Democracy”. The new book is written by a left-leaning author for members of his own side, who mostly believe that President Trump is a threat to democracy. We discuss evidence that liberal disdain for conservatives and misconceptions about what they actually believe have increased support for Trump by right-leaning voters.“I think it's very important to separate leaders from people that vote for them,” Elwood tells How Do We Fix It? “My views of Trump have not changed. How I speak and think about people who voted for him have changed a lot.”Toxic polarization means we see political opponents as part of a monolithic movement. “We end up seeing the entire other side as boiling down to the most extreme people on that side… and pointing out the worst antisocial and rude behaviors,” he says. In this episode we discuss the work of More In Common and other groups that explore our misconceptions about political adversaries. We learn why it's productive yet very difficult to criticize your own political tribe. We find out more about Braver Angels' creative work to depolarize America.Elwood mentions several authors who help him understand the true nature of political polarization:Erica Etelson - “Beyond Contempt: How Liberals Can Communicate Across the Great Divide”.Taylor Dotson - “The Divide”.Robert Tallise - “Sustaining Democracy”. 10/10/25 - Across the United States, the battle over abortion has reached a breaking point. Some states are advancing strong protections for the unborn, while others are expanding abortion access further than ever before. It's no longer just a political debate - it's a war over the very meaning of human dignity, law, and truth. We'll explore what faithful Catholics can do to confront this cultural and legislative war with moral clarity, courage, and strategic action. From state-level battles to national consequences, we look at how this conflict could shape the future of America, and how the Church must respond with conviction, truth, and love.

Author Rob Henderson joins The Winston Marshall Show to dissect America's deepening political divide. From the shocking murder of Charlie Kirk to the refusal of Democrats in Congress to honor his death, Henderson explores how anger has tipped into hatred — fueling a climate where political violence is no longer unthinkable. He distinguishes between anger as bargaining, and hatred as wishing opponents didn't exist, warning of a dangerous escalation.Drawing on his work in psychology, Henderson explains the “dark triad” — narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy — and how social media rewards these traits, amplifying extremism online. He considers how the lack of a common enemy after the Cold War and 9/11 has turned Americans inward, seeing each other as the threat. From immigration battles and “luxury beliefs” among elites, to the gender divide in politics, marriage, and the rise of anti-natalist ideology — Henderson maps out how cultural and psychological fault lines are remaking American life. Can the US pull back from the brink of hatred-fueled politics?-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To see more exclusive content and interviews consider subscribing to my substack here: https://www.winstonmarshall.co.uk/-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FOLLOW ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA:Substack: https://www.winstonmarshall.co.uk/X: https://twitter.com/mrwinmarshallInsta: https://www.instagram.com/winstonmarshallLinktree: https://linktr.ee/winstonmarshall----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chapters 0:00 Introduction 1:53 Political Division and Emotional Dynamics 14:04 Historical Context and Social Media's Role 16:35 Dark Triad Traits and Political Violence 27:54 Gender Divide and Political Preferences 41:09 Immigration and Elite Ideologies 54:03 Downward Mobility and Radical Politics 59:36 Education and Historical Amnesia 1:11:54 Final Thoughts and Future Outlook Hosted on Acast. We dive once more into the differences between Eastern and Western Christianity. This time, Dr. Jacobs tackles the nature-grace divide. He'll trace how Augustine's anti-Pelagian framework created a nature-grace divide in the Latin West, where human nature is seen as inherently incapable of pleasing God without supernatural assistance. In contrast, the Eastern tradition maintains that humans as icons of God possess a natural connection to divine grace through the image-archetype relationship. The analysis covers how these differing anthropologies lead to distinct understandings of total depravity, synergy, and the relationship between creature and Creator. All the links: Substack: https://nathanajacobs.substack.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thenathanjacobspodcastWebsite: https://www.nathanajacobs.com/X: https://x.com/NathanJacobsPodSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0hSskUtCwDT40uFbqTk3QSApple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-nathan-jacobs-podcastFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/nathanandrewjacobsAcademia: https://vanderbilt.academia.edu/NathanAJacobs00:00:00 Intro00:01:22 Recap & roadmap 00:10:08 The Pelagian controversy00:15:55 Hierarchy of loves00:20:22 Augustine's pursuit of truth00:28:19 Adam & Eve (original sin)00:35:45 The root of total depravity00:40:02 Divine volunteerism00:51:09 Monistic views emerge00:54:40 Medieval "faculty psychology"01:08:22 Imago Dei (Image of God) nuances01:11:30 Divine essence and energies01:23:36 Insights from Plato01:29:50 Man as icon of God01:39:14 Grace in the Christian West01:54:48 The faculty psychology problem02:12:40 Doctrine of the Logoi02:25:40 Idiosyncratic teleology02:30:52 Wrapping up the series
From BMX tracks to the Iditarod trail, and from Yale Law to global justice reform, Matt Garretson's life is a masterclass in resilience, curiosity, and purpose-driven innovation. In this episode, Jeff Bloomfield sits down with Matt to explore how his unique blend of risk-taking, compassion, and intellectual rigor led him to reshape the legal services sector, build businesses that impact thousands, and embark on extreme adventures that test the limits of human endurance. Whether it's resolving billion-dollar settlements, pioneering AI in the legal industry, or pedaling 1,000 miles across frozen Alaska, Matt's story is proof that the best results come from observing, engaging, adapting, and persevering. His daily formula: “My guiding mantra each day was that I must be methodical about observing (all data re terrain, weather, gear, etc.), engaging (with the underlying assumptions derived from those observations), adapting (because everything changes constantly when executing in an unpredictable/uncontrolled environment), persevering (having faith/confidence that i have the body, mind and spirit to accomplish the daily goals if i stay methodical about this loop). I broke each day into hour segments meaning for instance i didnt plan for 60 miles or 15 hours each day….i just needed to make it for instance from 9 AM to 10AM…then i can make it to 11 and if I made it to 11 then certainly 12 was possible etc. 18 days later I was in Nome!!!” This isn't just a story about legal innovation or adventure sports — it's a blueprint for high-stakes decision-making in life and business. Matt's “Observe, Engage, Adapt, Persevere” framework, forged in the crucible of both courtroom battles and Arctic winds, is a practical leadership model for anyone navigating uncertainty. Leaders, entrepreneurs, and high-performers will walk away with actionable insights on risk management, building trust in complex negotiations, integrating AI into human-centered processes, and maintaining clarity when the stakes are high and the variables keep changing. Origin shapes destiny — The combination of his father's risk-taking spirit and his mother's intellectual curiosity formed the foundation of Matt's worldview. Unconventional paths have power — Yale undergrad + night law school created a rare blend of elite theory and gritty pragmatism. Faith in action — Matt's theology degree grew out of reconciling the good and harm he saw in organized religion. Neutrality is a business model — Creating fair, transparent systems for complex legal settlements can transform entire industries. AI accelerates trust — Tools like Pattern Data and Jane are reshaping how the legal profession processes and shares information. Adventure as a leadership lab — Extreme endurance events sharpen decision-making and adaptability. Observe, Engage, Adapt, Persevere — A simple yet powerful framework for survival and success. Moisture management matters — Small, counterintuitive habits can make or break long-term success in any high-stakes environment. Find the middle ground — In negotiations, you've likely reached fairness when both sides are slightly unhappy but see the logic. Impact over income — Matt's latest venture in Guatemala proves that business growth and social good can be inseparable. 00:00 – Intro & guest setup 05:35 – Matt's origin story: risk-taking father, intellectual mother 09:00 – Discovering law as a second-phase career 11:55 – Theological studies: reconciling faith and harm 17:28 – The birth of a neutral legal administrator 21:11 – World Trade Center, BP Oil Spill, and mass tort work 27:39 – Truth, accountability, and finding reliable sources 31:44 – AI's role in transforming the legal industry 39:23 – Epic adventures: Great Divide, Baja Divide, Iditarod 45:58 – The Observe–Engage–Adapt–Persevere model 53:48 – Burnbright: blending business, social impact, and job creation

395 Carpe Diem It's easy to think we have all the time in the world to do something we're putting off. Whether it's changing jobs, or finishing your novel, or finally folding the laundry, we always think we'll have more time. However time is a finite resource, and one day it too will run out. So we carry with us reminders of that which matters most to us and in doing so we remind ourselves to seize the day and to not take time for granted. In today's episode Sarah Elkins and George Schunk discuss their own collections of sentimental items, their own art they have dedicated themselves to, as well as how important it is to act on an opportunity instead of waiting for the perfect time. Highlights What are you holding on to that means a great deal to you? What is something you read or wrote that you still think about? Are you doing something because you want to? Is the story you tell about it fair to the other people involved in it? Those stories matter, and not just to you. Don't wait for the perfect time to do something. Make it the perfect time and do it anyway. What are the themes of your stories that everyone can relate to, even if the words for those themes have changed? Quotes “Before I started to write about my life, I started to wonder; was I fair to the women that I loved?” “What did you start with and what did you end with?” “When something came up that I wanted to do, I went and did it.” “When you're unemployed, when you're taking those gap years, or let's say you have a good job and you're moving up from your corner office, everything is looking good whether it's public service or private. But if for any reason you get the wild hair that there's a wild, larger world out there and you need that, and you go on a mid-life walk about -I did this when I was 45, for 2 years- The benefits of something like that are enormous.” Dear Listeners it is now your turn, First, I highly recommend Michael Easter's book, The Comfort Crisis, and in the future I promise to update you when George's book is finally released. Who knows when that will be but I'm sure it will be well worth the wait. And now I'm going to ask you the hard question; What is something that you want to accomplish? What is something that you want to do in your life that you haven't yet done? That you can take a step today, tomorrow, the next day, toward that idea that you've been thinking about for years. Don't wait, we're not guaranteed tomorrow. Make sure that people in your life know that those relationships are meaningful. Tell them, and take that step. And, as always, thank you for listening. Mentioned in this podcast Chip Clawson The Comfort Crisis About George Born into the privilege of good education and stable family life, got educated on my own, nine-years post-secondary. Lots of gap years along the way. I managed to change some laws for the better, access to public lands, closing mines significant to Native populations, managing timber sustainably, etc. I worked for President Clinton, Pew Charitable Trusts and Ecotrust, a green think tank in Portland. Now I snowboard half the year at the Great Divide and explore the country of Colombia. I have finished the first draft of a memoir that I want to edit and publish. Check out George's Facebook and LinkedIn! About Sarah "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. Be sure to check out the Storytelling For Professionals Course as well to make sure you nail that next interview!

This is the sixth lesson in Dr. Camden Bucey's Reformed Academy course, Defending Our Hope: An Introduction to Christian Apologetics. Why is there such a stark contrast between the worldview of the believer and that of the unbeliever? This lesson addresses the theological concept of the antithesis—the fundamental spiritual divide between those in Christ and those outside of him. You will learn how this distinction, rooted in covenant representation and union with Christ, shapes every aspect of life and apologetic engagement. By understanding the nature of regeneration, resurrection life, and our new identity in Christ, we are better prepared to witness to the truth with clarity and conviction, while holding fast to the hope of God's redemptive purpose for his people. 01:13 The Fundamental Distinction between Believers and Unbelievers 04:31 Covenantal Representation 09:25 The Resurrection 20:18 The New Identity in Christ 29:23 Living Out Our Union with Christ 32:10 Summary and Conclusion Register for this free on-demand course on our website to track your progress, download supplemental resources, and assess your understanding through quizzes for each lesson.
