A day after the Lakers added free agent center/PF Christian Wood, there are plenty more questions to ask. His talent, at least offensively, is undeniable, but what about attitude and fit? Well, to that end he said some stuff to Marc Spears at ESPN's Andscape that raised some eyebrows. There are other important questions to kick around. Like, does Wood start or come off the bench? On the one hand, given Anthony Davis's long expressed preferences to play power forward, many have assumed that this move allows him to do just that. Wood starts at C, right?Well, maybe not. There are many, many compelling reasons to bring Wood off the bench. So which side of the argument will win out? Moreover, plenty of people are talking about this as a "risk-free" move for the Lakers. Is that the right framing?Meanwhile, there is a lot of attention being paid to Wood the talent, but what about Wood the guy? Some believe he's seen himself as entitled. Well, on the way out the door from Dallas, he said the following to ESPN, expressing great enthusiasm for joining the Lakers... and taking a shot at his former employer: "I've always wanted to be a Laker. I know we can win a championship,” Wood told Spears. “Communication with a coach is a big key. Coach Ham and I go back to our Milwaukee days and we've had great conversations everyday about this opportunity. Host Carl Lewis chats with NBA guru Cyrus Rogers about the biggest talking points in the NBA as well as previewing the WNBA semi-finals. In a statement released Tuesday, Nets general manager Sean Marks said the past MVP and two-time NBA champion will remain with the franchise after originally requesting a trade on June 30. (Durant's four-year, $198 million extension kicks in this season.) The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired guard Patrick Beverley from the Utah Jazz in exchange for guard Talen Horton-Tucker and forward Stanley Johnson, it was announced today by Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka. “We are thrilled to add Patrick Beverley's toughness and competitive spirit to our team,” Pelinka said. “We're confident that Patrick's ‘3-and-D' style will fit in nicely with the other pieces of our roster, and align perfectly with Coach Ham's philosophy of hard work and smart play.” The top four seeds advanced to the semifinals of the 2022 WNBA playoffs with relative ease, but the matchups and storylines that await in the next round are hardly short of intrigue. The top-seeded Las Vegas Aces and No. 4 seed Seattle Storm face off in a battle featuring seven former No. 1 overall draft picks. The Aces are hungry to win the franchise's first championship, which would make Becky Hammon the first first-year coach to win a WNBA title since Van Chancellor in 1997, the league's inaugural season. But Sue Bird and Tina Charles have plenty to fight for, too, as Bird readies for retirement with four (and if things go her way, five) WNBA titles to her name, while Charles switched teams midseason in search of her coveted first. Fresh off winning decisive Game 3s in the first round, the No. 2 seed Chicago Sky and the third-seeded Connecticut Sun are hoping to carry that momentum into the semifinals, where they'll meet for the second straight year and in the postseason for the third consecutive summer. Behind Candace Parker, who has indicated this could be her final season in the league, the defending champion Sky are looking to become the first WNBA team to repeat since 2001-02. The Sun -- the W franchise with the most playoff wins (33) but no title -- hope to advance to their second Finals in four seasons before their championship window diminishes.

#Lakers Buying 2nd Round Pick In 2022 #NBADraft | #KaiSotto Lakers 2022 The Los Angeles Lakers currently don't own a single draft pick in the upcoming 2022 NBA Draft — but the franchise's actions suggest that might change before the event takes place on June 23 in New York City. The Lakers sent their 2022 draft picks to New Orleans as part of the Anthony Davis trade three years ago. However, L.A. has been holding pre-draft workouts for young prospects since the end of May. The Purple and Gold can buy their way into the second round, as they can use the $4.7 million they still have available for trade and purchase a pick. Rob Pelinka Confirms Lakers Hopes To Acquire Second-Round Pick Ahead Of 2022 NBA Draft. Lakers vice president and general manager Rob Pelinka has confirmed the Lakers are planning to appear on the clock at some point during draft night, per Spectrum SportsNet: “So yeah, one of the intentional sort of philosophical, architectural visions for us is to get younger and Coach Ham has a passion for developing players. So it would be a goal for us to try to somehow get into the second round to get a young player that we can develop. We've had great success if you look at our draft history and the guys we've drafted and developed. We think we can do it again in 2022 if we can pull off a trade to get a pick.” So Z Nation, who should the Lakers draft in the second round if they buy a 2nd round pick in this years draft??? Florida State basketball is on a roll. They knocked off North Carolina State by 32, beat North Carolina, and then went to Louisville as a four point underdog and won by 13. They're not only winning, but they've covered each spread by an average of 16 pointss. Raiquan Gray and Rayquan Evans have been playing their best basketball, and we examine them through the lens of the UL game. We talk a bit about Chris Mack and Coach Ham's success against him. And we dive into a few other interesting themes from the game. Then we take a quick look at the ACC, and check in on how the standings are shaking out now that most teams have played at least five conference games. Florida State is in good position there to repeat. Finally, we move on to the rematch vs Clemson. The Tigers and the Seminoles are like two ships passing in the night - FSU is playing its best basketball, while Clemson is slumping. Of course, that can all change in one game. It's always fun to beat Syracuse. Jim Boeheim was his usual jovial self in the post-game. Coach Hamilton remained tight-lipped about why Devin Vassell didn't play. And MJ Walker had a fat lip. Good game! We break down how Florida State was able to pull the win despite missing their leading scorer. We range over a bunch of topics including offensive rebounding, turnovers, 3-point defense, and high level (literally) play from Patrick Williams. Before the break we go to the mail bag! Lots of great questions from listeners, though on our cheat sheet the selfish producers failed to include the listener's name who asked the question, so you must live in Tomhawk Nation anonymity. We press them harder next time. We cover recruiting, lineups, adjustments, seeding, and the length of Coach Ham's tenure. Finally, we go back to November and talk about what is different this time around vs. Pitt. After FSU was forced to play Pitt in the season opening ACC money grab round, the two teams now meet again, though each team is a bit altered now. Learn more about your ad choices.
