Welcome back to another thought-provoking episode of Tank Talks! Matt Cohen sits down with John Ruffolo to dissect the most pressing developments in tech, finance, and AI. From major banking shifts to the evolving landscape of AI-driven SEO, this episode delivers sharp insights and expert analysis you won't want to miss.* The Bank of Canada's latest interest rate cut—will it actually help the economy?* The power shift in Canadian banking: What CIBC's CEO transition means for the future.* Open banking and AI's role in reshaping the financial landscape.* The rapid rise of AI-driven SEO—how companies are optimizing for large language models.* CoreWeave's massive IPO plans and why John Ruffolo sees echoes of the Nortel bubble.* The brewing U.S.-EU trade war—why Trump's tariff threats could hit Canadian businesses harder than expected.Canada's Banking Future: CIBC's Big Shift (00:04:00)* Victor Dodig steps down as CIBC CEO after 11 years, handing over to Harry Cullum, a capital markets veteran.* The big question: Can Cullum lead CIBC into the digital era, or will traditional banks struggle to keep up with fintech and AI-powered banking?* Why open banking is no longer a threat, but an opportunity for Canada's biggest banks.John Ruffolo's Take:John sees Cullum as a strong leader with deep expertise in digital banking, positioning him well for the transition. However, he warns that legacy banks must move quickly to stay competitive as fintech innovation accelerates, or risk falling behind in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.AI's SEO Revolution: The Future of Search (00:10:00)* Companies are now optimizing for AI models, not just Google Search.* Mercury and Vercel are already seeing significant growth in inbound leads from large language models.* The big shift: Instead of backlinks and keywords, companies are feeding training data directly into AI models.CoreWeave's Billion-Dollar Bet: Nortel 2.0? (00:14:00)* CoreWeave, an AI-focused cloud company, is skyrocketing in valuation—going from $16 million in revenue to $1.9 billion in just two years.* NVIDIA and Microsoft are heavily invested—so what happens if they pull the plug?* Is CoreWeave truly innovative, or just benefiting from excess GPU capacity?John Ruffolo's Take:"This reminds me way too much of Nortel in the late ‘90s. They pumped up revenue, but it was all based on unsustainable deals. Watch this one carefully."As AI reshapes industries, banking undergoes major leadership shifts, and companies scramble to adapt to new digital landscapes, the stakes have never been higher. Will traditional banks successfully embrace open banking and digital transformation, or will fintech disruptors take the lead? Can AI-driven SEO remain a competitive advantage, or will regulators step in to level the playing field? And as CoreWeave pushes toward its high-stakes IPO, is this the beginning of a new tech revolution, or a repeat of past market bubbles? The coming months will reveal whether these trends signal long-term shifts—or short-lived hype. This is a public episode. According to court documents, the elaborate plan to kill Veronica Butler and Jillian Kelly began with a simple lie, the day before the murders. Tad Cullum, the boyfriend of grandmother Tiffany Adams, had asked the owner of the property he rented for cattle grazing, if he could do some work in the pasture, with his skid steer. Picture a heavy-duty front-end loader, with lift arms that can attach to various tools, especially ones for digging. Cullum reportedly said he wanted to cut down a tree, remove a stump, and bury some concrete. The intent was that if the hole was discovered, it was explainable. If the land owner was asked about the disturbed dirt and track marks, he could honestly answer that some dirt work had been done and concrete had been buried. The landowner just didn't know there were bodies underneath. News reports also say there was hay placed near and on the digging site to draw Cullum's cattle to the spot, to trample the earth, further disguising the dig. The OSBI, the FBI, and the Texas County Sheriff's Department followed cell phone pings to find a horrific scene, a 10-foot-deep hole, 8 1/2 miles from the mom's abandoned car, in a pasture on leased farmland and near a bridge. Whether the two moms were buried alive.... not yet revealed. Associate District Judge Clark Jett entered "not guilty" pleas on the behavior of Adams, Cullum, Cora, and Cole Twombly. Judge Jett also assigned pro bono attorneys for each of the four defendants and denied bail. According to the police affidavit the 4 suspects “ had “resources sufficient to organize and execute a complex murder and therefore, they also have the resources to flee if given the opportunity.” The police documents also say Adams and Cullum own numerous firearms, and Cullum had a rifle, ammunition, body armor, and a “go-bag” prepared at his home. A police affidavit says Tiffany Adams allegedly gave statements indicating she was responsible for the deaths of Veronica Butler and Jillian Kelley. Investigators now say they believe Butler and Jillian Kelley were lured to the location, arriving around 9:40 a.m. Besides the pools of blood, officers found Butler's glasses on the ground near a broken hammer. Police say they believe the women were forced into another vehicle. Much information has been released in the probable cause affidavit, but not the women's cause of death. The bodies were found in a cattle pasture, leased by Tad Bert Cullum, the boyfriend of grandmother Tiffany Adams. The location was narrowed down by cellphone data from three burner phones purchased by Adams. The phones first pinged at the location of Butler's abandoned car, the data then led police to the pasture property. Obvious signs of digging were discovered. A hole had been dug and filled back in. Inside the hole were the bodies of the missing women. The motive, according to investigators, is custody of Butler's two children: a custody battle has gone on for more than five years. Father Wrangler Rickman, Tiffany Adam's son, had custody of the children, but Rickman was confirmed to be in a rehabilitation facility in Oklahoma City. Veronica Butler's custody arrangement allowed her supervised visitation with her children every Saturday. And reportedly, according to Butler's attorney, she was likely to be granted unsupervised visitation during an upcoming hearing. The affidavit states that “Adams vehemently opposed this and went to great lengths to plan and purchase items used in Butler and Kelley's murders,” It continues... “Adams, Cullum, Cole and Cora were willing to kidnap and murder two victims to limit visitation for Butler.” Court documents allege that Adams and the other suspects tried to killer Butler once before in February. Adams, her boyfriend, and the other couple drove to Butler's home near Hugoton, Kansas, intending to kill her. A witness told investigators that the planned was to throw an anvil through Butler's windshield while she was driving. They reasoned that it would look like an accident, but Butler did not leave her home. As state investigators pulled information from Adams' phone, it showed web searches for “taser pain level, gun shops, prepaid cellular phones, and how to get someone out of their house." That's also according to the probable cause documents. Adams reportedly purchased five stun guns before the women's disappearances, according to the documents. She bought three prepaid, unregistered burner phones from a Walmart near her. All the prepaid burners stopped transmitting the mornings the women went missing. "What do you want me to do for you?" When Jesus asked this question, first of his two disciples, and then of a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, their responses revealed their hearts. How would you answer? What might this reveal? Will you follow Jesus if you see a cross up ahead? In this episode with Amber Cullum, we're looking at the story of Blind Bartimaeus, and how his response to this question, "What do you want?" was completely different from James and John's response in the scene before. So what can we learn from disciples who were blind, and a blind man who sees? Listen in as we discuss how to live like it's true that there's a cross up ahead, but that Jesus is the Son of David who will ultimately heal all that is broken. Happy Halloween! Welcome to Paranormal Heart Podcast. Thank you so much for being here. Folks it's my favourite time of year again. I just love Halloween. I love everything about this time. The trees here in the Ottawa Valley are putting on their colourful fall clothing. And what a display it is, with the yellows, reds, and oranges. The smell of fall is in the air. It's still warm during the day without all the summer bugs. And of course, seeing people decorating their yards with so many different wonderful spooky displays. And since it's such a special time of year for many who love the paranormal, I thought I'd make this episode a special one. I am so happy to share this one with so many people I call my paranormal family. I have Tommy Cullum, of Let's Get Freaky Podcast, JJ Rose from YouTube's JJRose777, Tim Sudano of Paranormal Insight Podcast and last but certainly not least, Erick Szilagyi (Selagee) of the Uncomfortable Podcast. For this 3 ½ hour long Halloween special, yup you heard that right, 3 ½ hours, we all discuss some recent paranormal experiences we've had. Some are bizarre, some are unexplained, and some are downright frightening. We had such a great time with this episode, as you'll soon see. And this is the first time that I release an actual video of all of us. So, if you happen to be listening on Podbean or other platforms, and would like to see us all, please check out the video on YouTube. I didn't edit anything from this one. I wanted to show you all how much fun podcasters can have, and what tech issues we have to deal with. And since it's such a long episode, I won't be having any listener submitted stories. Before we get on with the show, I just want to thank all the guests this episode. They all took time out of their busy lives to make this happen. So please check out their great shows. And I especially like to thank Tommy, for recording the video. I greatly love and appreciate you all. So Happy Halloween, have fun folks and please be safe. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4656375/advertisement

Can you feel the weight of the world's weariness pressing down on you? Together with my dear friend and fellow podcast curator, Amber Coulomb, we unpack the ways in which this pervasive weariness is affecting us all and explore the profound yearning of the human heart for relief from pain and suffering. We delve into the concept of benevolent detachment, a tool for maintaining mental and emotional health amidst the overflow of information around us, and discuss how we can care for our world and those in it without losing ourselves in the process. The world's weariness isn't just a product of information overload - it's also due to the hardships and tragedies we face. During these times, it's easy to become overwhelmed by fear and uncertainty. But what if there was an anchor that could hold us steady? Amber and I traverse the comforting promises of God, as seen in the Bible verses and breath prayers we share, with Psalm 27 acting as a beacon of hope during times of distress. We discuss the strength we can find in God's promises, and the relief that comes from knowing we're not alone in our fear. But this journey doesn't end there. We also explore the powerful and transformative potential that comes from choosing hope and Jesus. The act of dwelling in God's shelter during moments of joy, sadness, or hurt is discussed, providing a roadmap to engage with Him and find peace. As we wrap up, we extend an invitation for you to join us in two weeks when we continue exploring the gift of freedom provided by Jesus. So, tune in with us - let's find our freedom together. You ARE:SEEN KNOWN HEARD LOVED VALUED

Are the cities in the Texas Triangle on the right track to success? With their expansive population growth and focus on economic growth, the cities of the Texas Triangle have been on an upward trajectory in recent years. To answer these questions and more, we welcome back to the show Cullum Clark, director of the George W. Bush Institute and SMU's Economic Growth Initiative. Cullum discusses the Texas Triangle and its implications for economic growth, infrastructure, and housing.Episode HighlightsThe Texas Triangle has been more successful in balancing growth while preserving the unique character and identity of each city. Every county across the San Antonio and Austin metros grew, while the core urban counties in Houston and Dallas lost population.Cullum's key for regions is to prioritize education, human capital, livability, and being business-friendly to attract and retain talent and companies.Austin's multi-hub economy has a diverse industry base with a unique mix of a big public university, the state capital, and the biggest tourist destination. What's next Austin? “I think that when you look at everything that's working in 21st Century America, Austin truly has it all. To be a place that kind of benefits from being a kind of, having a cultural cool factor, benefits from being a center of tech benefits from being a major higher ed center. There is an economic anchor as well. I'm absolutely as bullish as I could be and I would encourage others to be as well. The future of the Texas Triangle is very bright.”Episode linksCullum Clark: Twitter, WebsiteGeorge W. The Trail of the Axe by Ridgwell Cullum audiobook. Dave ran a lumber mill in western Canada. There are some workers within his organization who he trusts implicitly, some who he doesn't trust at all, and some who he is unsure about. But Dave is basically a trusting soul. Most of the folks in Malkern liked him, as he had been a major factor in shaping the village and in providing employment for a lot of the folks who lived in the area. Dave was not a pleasant site to look at; ungainly, not very attractive, yet he had a heart that was the antithesis of his lack of physical attractiveness. Dave was a good friend to Betty, who had promised her hand in marriage to Jim Truscott, who was on leave from Malkern searching for gold in the Yukon territory to secure a future for himself and his bride-to-be. Truscott had asked Dave to watch over Betty during his absence, but when he returned from his fortune seeking expedition in the Yukon, Truscott was a changed man. He didn't seem the same personable Jim Truscott that Betty had promised herself to, and Dave was a bit suspicious of his personality alterations as well. Now, Betty had to decide whether to hold herself to her promise, and Dave had to determine whether or not he should also keep himself to the promise he had made to his friend. There is plenty of action, suspense, and personal introspection combined with a love story in The Trail of the Axe, and many a surprise awaits every turn. Learn more about your ad choices. Family memories take on special meaning at this time of year when we gather for the holidays. One of the best memories you can make involves giving. We'll talk about that today with Becky Cullum. Becky Cullum is Executive Vice President of the National Christian Foundation in North Texas. Becky has a passion for helping individuals and families create giving strategies so they can be more generous. On today's program, Callum shares how generosity came to be so important to her and her family. She discusses the challenges of raising kids who are outwardly focused in a materialistic society in which anything they want is available at the click of a button. Parents often feel overwhelmed and outnumbered. Callum shares the Scriptures that inspired her to take on this challenge: - Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it - Deuteronomy 6:6-7 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your heart. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. - 2 cor 5:141: For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. While we must verbally convey God's truth to our children, Callum says most human communication is non-verbal. Children learn from what is modeled, not just said. Parenting is always a work in progress. We will never arrive as parents. It's a constant journey of trial and error. She suggests seeking wise counsel. Talk to older, wiser parents. And she recommends the book The Opposite of Spoiled by Ron Lieber. Through the holidays and beyond, make generosity a family affair. Each Christmas, the Callums give their kids cash, but with a stipulation: They have to give it away. It's then up to the kids to find the people and causes they want to support. What does Jesus want for His birthday? And a grateful and generous heart! Go to Ncfgiving.com/strategy for help with focusing and planning out your giving. On today's program, Rob also answers listener questions: ● What is the best way to prepare for medical expenses related to the birth of a child? ● Would it make sense to take out a home equity loan or sell your home to pay off debt? Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000 or email them to Questions@MoneyWise.org.
