Today on the show, I'm sitting down with the charismatic frontman of the DC/Maryland punk rock outfit, The Submensas, a band with over 40 years of history. They're back, performing live, and have been releasing a steady stream of "piss and vinegar"-soaked singles since 2023, including the raucous "Reason Wrong," "Headache," and most recently, the unexpectedly funky "Return of the Strange."We're on a tight schedule to get this episode recorded and released, so without further ado, please join me in welcoming Damon Norko to the Mouthful of Graffiti Podcast. As an experiment, I put the URL to a website article into Notebook LM from Google. The article, What Every Buyer Should Know About Condo Docs, was loaded in Notebook. I chose, "Audio Preview"The results are this 16:25 audio podcast. The voices you hear are AI generated. The original content was my article. However the conversation is the AI version of the content. Listen Up, Home Buyers! The podcast offering advice and tips from true buyer agents. In this episode of Girl, You So Random, I had the pleasure of talking with Christie Glascoe, a published author, ghostwriter, professional editor, and award-winning screenwriter who has wrestled words into willful submission for nearly 20 years. In addition to non-fiction books and novels, Christie has collaborated with other writers, producers, and directors to create scripts for live-action films/series and scripted audio programs in multiple genres. One of her audio series pilots was a 2nd Rounder in the 2023 Austin Film Festival Script Competition and a Quarterfinalist in the Roadmap Writers Podcasting Competition. A short film recently received an honorable mention from the Chicago Script Awards. The DC/Maryland native currently resides in metro Atlanta, Georgia, and is probably writing something cool. He's married with 4 kids, and loves to spend lots of time outdoors and living vicariously through his childrens sports activities. He spends a lot of time helping his wife grow her education business, and she spends a lot of time supporting and encouraging him with his ventures.Through his life experiences, including losing his Father to cancer, an idea originated in him around consumers owning their purchase data, while benefitting companies who cooperate with data privacy best practices. I'm Josh Cooperman and this is Convo By Design with designer Dennese Guadeloupe Rojas. I had the chance to chat with this DC/ Maryland based designer, and principal of Interiors By Design about a lot of things, not the least of which, authenticity. Think about it. Being authentic in all our creative endeavors is so critical to not just the work but how we feel about our own work. One of the things I lament most in the post-pandemic era is the lack of time and focus on authenticity. Think about it for a minute. There is an art to being authentic. It means being not only true to yourself, your work, your friends and family but also to the design and creative process by which we all work. I don't think it is possible to be completely true to any of these things in a time when every aspect of the business is so unpredictably fluid right now. At a time when the on again, off again gatherings. I was at Design Chicago but bailed out of KBIS this year. And for designers trying to do the work only to have costs boosted by 30% or more on shipping and pricing, timelines continuing to shift outward and making it more challenging to remain creative and relate to the business. But we're also talking about how Denise stays fresh, sharp and focused. g a constant stream of reselects. It's draining. Draining emotionally and that draws from ones ability to create. So, were talking about this and other ideas with an immensely creative designer. I think you are going to like this, I hope so. Thank you for the time and conversation, Dennese! Thank you ThermaSol, Article, York Wallcoverings and Franz Viegener for your partnership and support. You are remarkable partners and amazing allies for the trade. And, thank you for listening, remember why you do what you do and that the business of design is about making better the lives of those we serve. Until next week. Be well and take today first. Designer Resources ThermaSol - Redefining the modern shower experience Article, great style is easy. It's the best way to buy beautiful modern furniture. “We're in a space where we're remembering… really going back and seeing our history with a new light. And we're seeing it not as an oppressive history but a history that is rich.” Alex Munro Humanities Teacher, IB “Black Educators matter because we play an important role in empowering, uplifting and setting the example for others to follow.” Alex Munro grew up in the DC/Maryland area. He is a first generation immigrant, as his family is from Grenada. He grew up in a predominantly White, suburban area with mostly White, female teachers and few Black students in elementary and high school. Alex played college football at HBCU St. Augustine University in North Carolina and came to Chicago for DePaul Law school with the intent to create non-profit organizations for professional athletes centered around education. He worked at a special education summer camp which later created an opportunity for a position in education. Once he got in, he knew that was what he wanted to do. “I am them and they are me.” Alex has been in education for 4 1/2 years. He got his Masters in Education and intends to go from an influencer to an active change agent. He appreciates his journey and believes it's pivotal that Black educators make sure they're always present, no matter where they are in education. They can empathize in a way that other educators cannot. Alex is most positively impacted when former students reach out to him, a high that carries him a long time. Regarding self care, he's a practicing Buddhist, enjoys reading and is sure to take advantage of his leisure time. He looks at the school year as a marathon and advises new teachers to lean on those who have experience, who understand the ebbs and flows of how things work. Pace yourself, listen and don't try to do too much.

In this episode, Dr. Gary Sherman (The Heart Guy) has a very personal conversation with Kidney transplant recipient, Austin Lee. Austin is a two-time kidney transplant recipient from the DC Maryland and Virginia area. At the age of one year old, Austin was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease known as posterior urethral valves, a kidney disease that affects one in eight thousand male infants. He received his first life-saving kidney from his mother in 1993 which functioned and gave him a healthy life for 14 years. Austin's first transplanted kidney was rejected in 2007 which led him to have to undergo Peritoneal Dialysis for a second time as an adolescent. He received my second transplant via kidney paired exchange program from an unrelated living donor, Ms. Stella Christian, on June 8th, 2010. Austin has had both his living donor transplants for a total of 25 years and will continue to mentor pediatric patients on the importance of taking care of their transplanted kidneys so that they may be able to live out all their life dreams and goals. In this conversation, Gary and Austin speak about lessons learned in pushing through the toughest of times and advocating for those in need of help. Please join us in this very revealing conversation with a young warrior in the transplant community.

R&B singer (and legend in the making) Tank pulled up at The YBF Podcast recently to chat about everything - and we mean EVERYTHING. He dished about doing a song with his new wife (but longtime love) Zena called "Our Song" for his new album Elevation, and about Omari Hardwick making an appearance on the project too. Natasha and Tank debate about the current state of R&B and what's missing, his new album having a 90's meets 2020 vibe and his VERY interesting Fantasy R&B Group. They get super real about the fall out of him calling his biracial wife his black queen, and Tank drops knowledge - in between plenty laughs - about everything: Black people's issues with biracial backgrounds, the double standards and why he chimed in on our IG post to defend his wife, who is responsible for the lack of representation of darker skin black women in Hollywood, why men walk away from a relationship even when they KNOW she's the one (like he did years ago with his now-wife), why men are BABIES, why getting an album out with TGT was “the hardest process I've ever gone through” and why the thought of going through that “hell” again doesn't make anyone in the group happy, his mixed feelings on gentrification and changes in major cities like where he grew up in the DC/Maryland area, the fallout after performing at DC Pride, he questions why what people, even like Malik Yoba, do in their sex life affects you, how he keeps in tip top shape to give his wife the business in the bedroom, why saving peak-sex abilities for marriage is bullsh*t, and how he's now doing stand up comedy.
