Todays guest is a musical one, who is striving to get to the top of his chosen career.   And it certainly seems that at the moment, the hustle, the talent, the perseverance, and the passion are doing just that, and he is building a momentum that is getting him noticed in the country music world.   With the release of his debut album, It's All Country, in early 2012, (and its re-release in 2013) he has showcased his signature sound, which he cultivated from years of touring camps, churches and conferences across the US.     Even playing in an airport once, to impress a pretty girl for one of the band members, he has blended the traditional influences from country music's past, like the Gatlin Brothers and Kenny Rogers, with modern contemporaries like Toby Keith and Trace Adkins.   He has created an original, honest and authentic sound all his own.   Which is a key point to todays discussion.   With so many influences smashing into us everyday, how do your separate and become yourself, and not become a pale imitation of someone already out there?   An ordained pastor, he served at the Cowboy Church of Anchorage, Alaska, but now has moved to the spiritual home of his style of Music, Nashville Tennessee, where if the idea of the quickest way to success is to surround yourself with other like minded people is true, was the perfect decision to make.   So when did he decide that he wanted to make a go at a career which has beaten so many people in the past?   And was uprooting his family and bringing them across America to pursuit his dream, an easy or hard decision to make?   Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Doug Briney.

Blending traditional influences from country music's past, like the Gatlin Brothers and Kenny Rogers, with modern contemporaries like Toby Keith and Trace Adkins, Doug created an original, honest and authentic sound all his own. The album reached #58 on the itunes Inspirational chart and #8 on the Roots Music Report True Country chart, earning Doug a Nashville Universe Award nomination for Best Male Artist, a 2014 ICoMA Award nomination, and a 2014 Artists In Music Awards nomination.A 2013 move to Nashville, Tennessee has brought Doug to the epicenter of the country music industry. Grateful for being able to live his dream of performing and recording music, he has gladly given back to his community in a big way. Surrounded by a history of veterans and military service in his family, (his son currently serves in the Air Force) Doug has begun working with Bright Star International, who will help facilitate Doug's work with veterans' charities, and Heart Songs For Veterans. He is also donating 100% of his proceeds from the sale of the single, “Unknown Soldier” to Operation Troop Aid.An ordained pastor, Doug also served at the Cowboy Church of Anchorage, Alaska, prior to his family's relocation to Music City, USA. He is currently serving as a pastor with North Pointe Community Church in Old Hickory, TN. In fact, it's his unwavering faith and love of country music that has led Doug on his journey.“I have come to know and love the Cowboy Lifestyle through country music…And, it is who I am now, who I have been, and who I will always be.” --Doug Briney

Doug Briney began like so many other musicians, singing in church.  His first solo was when he was two years old.  He continued singing throughout high school and then graduated  in 1988 from Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College as a Vocal Music Major.  During his college days, Doug had the opportunity to sing with a gospel quartet and travel all over the western half of the USA.  He also had the unique opportunity to sing with the San Diego Opera Chorus.  After graduating Doug went on and has spent the next 23 years leading worship in churches and pastoring. Being a country musician in Anchorage, Alaska is fun and exciting.  Doug relates to the song, I Was Country, When Country Wasn't Cool.  Growing up in Southern California, all of his friends were into rock while he was listening to Kenny Rogers, Lee Greenwood, Tom T. Hall, Eddie Arnold, Alabama and Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers.  Today his influences would still include those but he's added Chris Young, Toby Kieth and Ronnie Dunn to his list of major influences.   Doug's first full CD, titled, “It's All Country” is now available right here from the music page or for digital download from iTunes, Amazon or CD Baby.  Doug is very happy with this project and believes it will reach out and touch people right where they live.  Songs such as: “Deja Vu” “Second Dance” “It's More Than Just a Farm” all speak to the things in life that really matter.
