Maar ik ga je niet het advies geven om volledig te onthechten van dit diepe verlangen en eerst ‘van jezelf te houden'. Ja, dat is belangrijk. Maar of dit advies je verder helpt: niet per se. Wat namelijk vaak in de weg zit van dat ‘houden van onszelf' is het enorme oordeel op wat we willen. Waar je mee mag beginnen lieve vrouw, is naar jezelf erkennen dat het helemaal OKÉ is om te verlangen naar verbinding, liefde en intimiteit. Sterker nog, het is een basis behoefte. Een biologische behoefte. Je komt er mee op aarde en je gaat ermee. Dus stop met het willen ontkennen. Duw het verlangen niet langer weg. Voel liefde voor jezelf terwijl je dit verlangen erkent. Natúúrlijk verlang jij naar de magische liefde van een man. En om op jouw beurt weer jouw liefde te delen met een man. Zodat je jezelf alleen maar dieper kunt ervaren als vrouw. That. Is. Totally. In de achtste Onder mama's podcast aflevering heeft Sonia Pypaert een hartverwarmend gesprek met bekende mama Ann Van Elsen. Naast haar presentatiewerk en haar eigen radioshows, schreef ze ook een boek over scheiden, genaamd Blend. In deze aflevering beantwoordt Ann vragen van onze volgers naar aanleiding van podcast aflevering 7: (v)echtscheiding: wil je geluk of wil je gelijk. En gebruikt ze hiervoor de handvaten uit haar boek om een duidelijk advies te geven aan ouders die nog twijfelen of reeds gescheiden zijn. Wanneer je aan scheiden denkt Het is vandaag, door de coronacrisis, een heel atypische periode om te scheiden en uit elkaar te gaan. Iedereen spendeert meer tijd met zijn partner dan gewoonlijk en dat kan voor spanning of sleur zorgen. We staan allemaal wat meer onder druk waardoor alles heel erg uitvergroot wordt. Je kan helaas niet meer ‘ontsnappen' door af te spreken met vrienden, te sporten… Terwijl iedereen dit af en toe wel eens nodig heeft. Door die spanning beslissen nu heel wat koppels om uit elkaar te gaan of zelfs te scheiden. Maar wij raden toch aan om nog even te wachten tot alles gaan liggen is want het is niet de juiste periode om zo een knopen door te hakken. Zeker wanneer er op geen enkele manier sprake is van misbruik, zowel emotioneel als fysiek, dan is het beter om eerst nog even te reflecten. Duw even op de pauzeknop en stop met elkaar te bekritiseren. Trek de stekker nog niet uit je huwelijk. Werk aan je relatie Denk even na over het volgende: is het de relatie die je ongelukkig maakt of is het een sluimerend gevoel bij jezelf? Zijn er geen positieve zaken die je uit het oog verliest? Ga op zoek naar de kwaliteiten in je partner. Waar ben je destijds verliefd op geworden? Wat zijn de positieve punten aan je partner?  Je kan ook beslissen om even apart te gaan wonen en zien wat dat voor jullie beide doet. Want als je samen kinderen hebt blijf je toch verbonden voor het leven. Als je dit terug gaat evalueren dan ga je misschien inzien dat jullie het toch niet zo slecht hadden samen of dat jullie huwelijk toch niet goed zat. Werk aan jezelf Je hebt zelf de keuze om te beslissen hoe je met een scheidingssituatie om zal gaan. Er zijn twee manieren om hierop te anticiperen dus dan kies je beter voor de goede manier. Probeer uit het drama te stappen, stop met elkaar te verwijten en aanvaard dat je allebei tekortkomingen hebt. Want als je harmonie en rust wil, dan moet je stoppen met je te focussen op alles wat die persoon verkeerd heeft gedaan. Een relatie is geven en nemen dus wanneer iemand je confronteert op werkpunten, ga hier dan mee aan de slag. Probeer aan jezelf te werken en ontwikkel jezelf in je relatie en huwelijk. Want mensen en smaken veranderen nu eenmaal. Formuleer in één duidelijke zin waar je u het meest aan ergert en ga het benoemen naar je partner toe. Probeer je ergernis heel helder te krijgen. Doe ik dit ook bij anderen? Of doe ik dit bij mijzelf? Vaak zal het antwoord daarop er voor zorgen dat je veel milder zal communiceren naar je partner toe. Dat is de spiegeloefening die Ann heeft geleerd van relatietherapeute Patricia Van Lingen. Zij heeft een boek geschreven ‘wat je zegt, ben je zelf' en ‘relateren kan je leren'. Twee boeken die ze iedereen zou aanraden die in een twijfelfase zit. Het is vervolgens ook heel belangrijk dat je de kwaadheid naar boven brengt. Want als je die blijft wegslikken dan ga je heel prikkelbaar zijn ten opzichte van je partner. Rij naar een plaats waar je even alleen bent en roep eens goed. Vloek en roep wat je eigenlijk tegen je partner wil zeggen maar wat je niet durft als hij/zij het hoort. Dan is de druk van de ketel en zal er terug een soort rust terugkeren. De beslissing ligt vast Het ideale scenario is natuurlijk wanneer je er allebei op hetzelfde moment achter komt dat je huwelijk op is en dat je wil scheiden. Vaak is het zo dat één iemand de handdoek in de ring gooit en de andere persoon er eigenlijk nog niet klaar voor is. Terwijl de eerste het op dat punt eigenlijk al verwerkt heeft. Als je alles al hebt geprobeerd, zelfs relatietherapie, en je hebt je echt bij de beslissing neergelegd probeer het dan zeker samen met de kinderen te bespreken. Je ex heeft een nieuwe partner Communiceer naar je ex-partner en bespreek met hem of haar hoe jij de toekomst ziet. Heeft je partner je verlaten voor iemand anders en wil je die persoon graag leren kennen voordat de kinderen hem/haar zien? Dan is het heel belangrijk om dit bespreekbaar te maken Het is heel belangrijk dat je die persoon een kans geeft. Je wil tenslotte dat je de persoon die voor je kinderen gaat zorgen ook kan vertrouwen. Als er nog geen derde in het spel is kunnen jullie deze fictieve situatie eerst bespreken en eventueel zelf op mail zetten wat jullie overeen zijn gekomen. Dat zorgt ook voor minder discussies in de toekomst. Wat met de kinderen? Weet dat de kwaadheid en het verdriet die je voelt, dat dit slijt. Gebruik de tijd vooral om jezelf wat ruimte te geven en jezelf verder te ontwikkelen. Want anders ga je in het verleden blijven hangen en nooit vooruit gaan. Denk altijd wat je zelf als advies aan je kinderen zou geven en handel daarnaar. Leg hen uit dat je als ouders als één team zal blijven werken om voor hen te zorgen. En dat je in de liefde als individu je eigen verhaal gaat schrijven en de kans op geluk achterna gaat. Kinderen zijn heel veerkrachtig, het is op zich niet negatief dat ze een scheiding meemaken tenzij je scheidt op een foute manier. Kinderen hebben niet veel nodig om gelukkig te zijn. Die willen vooral onze tijd en die is gratis. Organiseer eens een picknick in de living, doe een filmavond en slaap eens in de zetel. Dat zijn de momenten die kinderen onthouden. En niet of ze de laatste nieuwe smartphone hadden. Iedereen die zegt dat ze geen tijd hebben voor hun kinderen, daar zeg ik tegen: ‘stop, halt, het is niet waar' Ann Van Elsen Iedereen heeft elke dag 20 minuten voor zijn of haar kind. Je kan altijd later nog je computer terug openklappen of eet dan eens afhaal in plaats van vers gekookt en win daarmee 20 minuten extra met je kinderen. Dat is wat ze nodig hebben.
