Ewa and Doug Tweedy, and Dr. Nancy M. Young, the Lillian Wells Professor of Pediatric Otolaryngology at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, come together to discuss bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Nancy served as the principal investigator for a clinical trial examining the use of MED-EL's cochlear implants in young children with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Ewa and Doug's daughter, Ella, was born deaf in both ears and enrolled in the trial at seven months. The procedure and device have demonstrated safety and efficacy in supporting the development of listening and spoken language skills, with some surprising results. The Tweedy family emphasizes the importance of therapy and parental engagement in achieving positive outcomes, noting that Ella is excelling in a mainstream school.  Nancy explains, "Bilateral sensorineural hearing loss is permanent hearing loss. It arises from the inner ear. So we're not talking about temporary hearing loss from, say, fluid in the ear after a routine ear infection. So it usually arises from the inner ear, sometimes from the nerve of hearing. And it's often present at birth in certain children, but it can also have a later onset after birth." Ewa elaborates, "So, at the hospital right after her birth, we had someone come in to perform the newborn hearing screening, and we had two of those done one day after the next, and she did not pass either one of those. So they tried to tell us it might possibly be the fluid in the ears. So we just remained hopeful. But then, after a couple of weeks, we got her retested, again, and she did not pass. And then we went in for what Dr. Young referred to as the ADR so that diagnostic testing could be done for children. And there we found out that she did have the bilateral, so both sides, profound sensorineural hearing loss. We were told she was completely deaf." Doug continues, "I've had some passing information about it previously. I definitely was not an expert, definitely had not done the level of investigation and reading that I've done at this point. It was at least a familiarity to me. Ce lundi 20 mars se tiendra le premier sommet France-Pologne depuis la signature du traité de Nancy, un traité pour renforcer la collaboration entre les deux pays signé il y a presque un an. Depuis le retour au pouvoir de Donald Tusk fin 2023, la Pologne est redevenue une puissance centrale de l'Union européenne, portée par l'économie la plus dynamique de la région. De notre correspondant à Varsovie,  Dans les rues de la capitale, les Varsoviens ressentent le développement économique du pays dans leur portefeuille depuis quelques années, pour le meilleur comme pour le pire. Les bras chargés de deux sacs de courses remplis à ras-bord, Ewa, 80 ans, sort tout juste du centre commercial où elle a l'habitude de faire ses achats. « Même en étant à la retraite, je sens que je vis plus confortablement qu'avant, confie l'octogénaire. Je peux acheter des articles plus haut de gamme, plus chers, de meilleure qualité, mes courses n'ont plus rien à voir. » Comme tous les Polonais, Ewa a vu le pays se transformer drastiquement ces 20 dernières années. Pour Marzena, 67 ans, c'est l'adhésion à l'Union européenne en 2004 qui a été l'élément déclencheur de la transformation du pays. « Avant, selon moi, l'économie n'était pas aussi stable et prévisible qu'elle peut l'être aujourd'hui, analyse-t-elle. Avant, on nous promettait que tout allait changer, qu'on allait reconstruire la Pologne, mais rien ne marchait. Ce lundi 20 mars se tiendra le premier sommet France-Pologne depuis la signature du traité de Nancy, un traité pour renforcer la collaboration entre les deux pays signé il y a presque un an. Depuis le retour au pouvoir de Donald Tusk fin 2023, la Pologne est redevenue une puissance centrale de l'Union européenne, portée par l'économie la plus dynamique de la région. De notre correspondant à Varsovie,  Dans les rues de la capitale, les Varsoviens ressentent le développement économique du pays dans leur portefeuille depuis quelques années, pour le meilleur comme pour le pire. Les bras chargés de deux sacs de courses remplis à ras-bord, Ewa, 80 ans, sort tout juste du centre commercial où elle a l'habitude de faire ses achats. « Même en étant à la retraite, je sens que je vis plus confortablement qu'avant, confie l'octogénaire. Je peux acheter des articles plus haut de gamme, plus chers, de meilleure qualité, mes courses n'ont plus rien à voir. » Comme tous les Polonais, Ewa a vu le pays se transformer drastiquement ces 20 dernières années. Pour Marzena, 67 ans, c'est l'adhésion à l'Union européenne en 2004 qui a été l'élément déclencheur de la transformation du pays. « Avant, selon moi, l'économie n'était pas aussi stable et prévisible qu'elle peut l'être aujourd'hui, analyse-t-elle. Kamil Stoch, Rakieta z Zębu, oddał 29 marca 2026 roku ostatni skok w swojej długiej karierze. Chorągiewką machnęła mu żona Ewa. Jakby nie wprost tym machnięciem dała do zrozumienia: Kamil, dość tego skakaj do domu i ucz się ładować zmywarkę. Ależ on nam radości dał: 3 złote medale olimpijskie, dwie kryształowe kule, 2 mistrzostwa świata, trzy razy wygrał Turniej Czterech Skoczni. A sezon 17/18 o ile dobrze pamiętam, takie numery wyczyniał, że normalnie weź. Z najniższego rozbiegu pobił rekord skoczni gdzieś w Norwegii, bodajże. Jak zauważono, była na paru skoczniach linia punktu K, cokolwiek to jest, później jakiś lasek jodłowy, i, po lasku, linia zdrowego rozsądku, następnie linia granicy wyobraźni i na koniec linia Stocha. Iga Świątek zapytana kiedyś czy będzie oglądać skoki, odpowiedziała: skoki? Nie za bardzo je ogarniam. Stoch wtedy odpisał: W sumie ja też ich nie ogarniam. Mam tylko zapiąć narty i jechać. Później mi pokazują, który jestem. Spoko Iga, wszyscy tak mamy.

The Center for Responsible Lending expressed opposition to this latest advisory opinion. On January 13, 2025, the House Financial Services Committee held a hearing on financial technology that included consideration of draft legislation on "Earned Wage Access," which CRL refers to as "payday loan apps." Around 200 nonprofits have written to Congress about their opposition to the version of this bill as introduced last session of congress.

  Open Banking Rule Revisited & The Durbin Amendment in Court: August Government Update  August may be quiet in Washington, but regulatory and legal developments in payments continue to happen.
