Tread Perilously's month of TV shows based on feature films continues with an episode of Alien Nation called "Fifteen With Wanda." When a Newcomer limo driver is witness to a crime on his wedding night, he enters witness protection with Sikes and Francisco as his detail. Unfortunately, the Newcomer took an aphrodisiac as part of the wedding/bonding tradition and must spend the next three weeks wanting nothing more than the 15 minutes with his bride to complete the mating ceremony. And with his day in court soon approaching, he is targeted for extermination. Meanwhile, Francisco's son gets involved with Lori Petty. Justin recalls the reason why he never watched Alien Nation despite being a big fan of the movie. Memories of the Fox network in the 1990s are examined, including The X-Files and M.A.N.T.I.S. The pair also recall what genre movies and TV were like before it all got Whedon-ized. Star Gary Graham proves to be the weakest link in moving Alien Nation to television. Co-star Eric Pierpoint proves more successful as TV's Mandy Patankin. The power of 1990s Lori Petty cannot be denied. Geography Corner leads to Southern California colleges. Justin learns a key detail about Newcomer physiology. Erik and Justin pitch a modern version of Alien Nation and discover the old Dr. Spock joke now requires a ton of context.
The Economic Club of Minnesota kicked off the second half of the 2024-2025 season on Wednesday, February 26th. The audience was treated to a riveting conversation between Brian Sikes, Chairman, President and CEO of Cargill and Sri Zaheer, Dean Emerita, Carlson School of Management. Brian offered some wonderful advice to students and young professionals in attendance. “Do your job really, really, well, there are no shortcuts, there are no magic pills that you can take, treat people really, really well, and just say yes.” In addition to advice, Mr. Sikes discussed some topics that are top of mind, free trade and tariffs. Everyone in attendance was grateful to be present for this event!

Check out Pastor Cody Sikes' latest message, “Beware of The Spirit of The Age!” In this message we learn that there is a system in this world operated by satan that is causing many to fall asleep by gradually duping them into accepting society's latest beliefs and values as truth. As believers, we've got to know and be persuaded of the REAL truth!
More than $84 TRILLION in stocks, real estate, and other assets will gradually transfer from the portfolios of Baby Boomers to the Gen X, Millennial, and Gen Z generations. But with so much wealth being passed on – and so many NEW investment options available at the tap of a smartphone screen – how should younger investors adapt? What are today's investing and trading platforms and providers doing to educate and empower them? And what do they need to know about new funds, alternatives, tools, research, and content available to them? I sat down with Stephen Sikes, Chief Operating Officer at Public, for a deep-dive discussion of those issues in this week's MoneyShow MoneyMasters Podcast segment.Stephen begins by outlining how Public works, what the platform allows investors to do, and why he believes the firm “sits at the intersection” of multiple industry trends. He then outlines the big “narrative violation” that applies to the Millennial generation and Millennial investor. Contrary to what some think, they have actually grown their wealth dramatically in the last 15 years due to two primary driving forces and two secondary ones. We next discuss how today's retail investors – particularly younger ones – approach the markets differently. He sees them learning in two ways, while also noting: “There has never been more information, more content, more research, more analysis, and better tools for retail investors to evaluate the markets.”Stephen further discusses the myriad new investment options people can choose from NOW versus in the PAST. That includes everything from fractional shares to retail-accessible alternative investments to tools that help make buying bonds more like buying stocks (or parking money in bank CDs). We also chat about the impact of Federal Reserve rate cuts on yield-seeking investors, and whether the recent market rotation out of Mag Seven names and into other stocks will last. Finally, he previewswhat he'll cover at the 2024 MoneyShow Orlando., scheduled for Oct. 17-19 at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. Bible Reading: Proverbs 11:25; Mark 10:42-45; Ephesians 2:8-10Dana's mom turned off the main road onto a dirt driveway. A sign next to the driveway read "Hooves and Wheels." After she parked, Dana and her friend Christie climbed out of the minivan and ran to the big gray horse barn.Mrs. Sikes, the director of the equine therapy program, met them inside. "I'm so glad you two are here! I sure could use help. Would you please groom Starr for the first class?" She pointed to a pony in a nearby stall.Christie brushed Starr's reddish coat until it looked smooth and glossy while Dana scraped dirt and stones from each of the pony's hooves with a hoof pick. Christie placed a blanket and a saddle on Starr's back and tightened the girth under the pony's belly. Dana slipped a bridle over Starr's ears and placed a metal bit into his mouth. She led Starr to the mounting block. At the bottom of a wooden ramp, a girl sat in a wheelchair. A woman stood beside her. "This is Rebecca and her mom," Mrs. Sikes told them. She turned to the mother and daughter. "Dana and Christie are two of our volunteers." Rebecca gave them a shy smile. Dana had Starr stand still beside the platform. Mrs. Sikes pushed the wheelchair up the ramp, then she and another volunteer lifted Rebecca onto Starr's back. Rebecca held onto a leather handle as Starr was led to the riding ring. Christie and another volunteer walked on either side of Rebecca as she followed the riding instructor's directions--hands up, reach for Starr's ears, touch Starr's tail. When the lesson was over, Rebecca gave Starr a big kiss. "I had a great time volunteering today," Dana told her parents at dinner. "Helping people makes me feel good."Mom smiled. "That's because God created us to love Him, and one way we do that is by loving and serving others out of the love He has shown us. Jesus died on the cross for us, and He also served people in His day-to-day life when He was on earth. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, and even washed His friends' feet.""It's only out of God's love for us that we are able to love and serve others," Dad added. That night before bed, Dana prayed. "Thank you, Jesus, for loving me first and giving me a fun way to help others!"–Bonnie CarrHow About You?Have you had the opportunity to love others by serving them? Did it make you feel good? That's no surprise--God created us to love Him and to share His love with others. Jesus showed us that love by becoming the Perfect Servant for us. He wants everyone to know His vast love, and one way we can share it with others is through service. Help others see God's great love for them by serving them like Jesus.Today's Key Verse:For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. (NLT) (Mark 10:45)Today's Key Thought:Love and serve others like Jesus

It seems over the past few months Content Creators are popping up all over the place and many wedding videographers are a little worried that their jobs are in jeopardy. We view the idea of content creation as a way to shift and grow your business, not as something that will take away from what we do. In today's podcast John interviews Kenzie Sikes of Content by Kenzie. She is a wedding day content creator that has grown her instagram account to over 10K followers and travels all over doing something she loves. John asks her what it is like to be a creator, working with wedding other vendors and digs into how easily wedding videographers could start offing this service. Unlock the secrets behind the ever-evolving world of retail investing with our special guest, Stephen Sikes, COO at Public. This episode promises a journey into the heart of modern market dynamics, where we shatter the myth of the "dumb money" investor and introduce you to the savvy, diverse profiles making their mark on the financial landscape. Stephen brings his seasoned expertise to the table, revealing how Public has opened doors for an influx of younger investors since 2018, and demonstrating the platform's commitment to education and long-term investment strategies, despite the allure of options trading and speculative assets. The allure of volatility is undeniable, and our conversation with Stephen dives into how retail investors are riding the waves shaped by Bitcoin ETFs, the Reddit IPO, and the narratives that fuel their investment choices. We examine the robust performance of certain tech giants, the surprising agility of small-cap sectors, and how retail investors are increasingly preferring individual stories to broad ETFs. Stephen and I also tackle the complexities of options trading in a fluctuating market, discussing how retail investors balance their portfolios between ambitious trades and dependable, long-term investments. As we wrap up this episode, we focus on the recent shift toward more conservative investment vehicles such as bonds, showcasing Public's innovative bond trading platform. We dissect the divergent outcomes for AMC's equity and bondholders, illustrating the critical importance of a diversified portfolio. And by challenging the stereotype of retail investors as careless risk-takers, we underscore the calculated strategies they employ, highlighting Public's role in fostering an informed and strategic investing community.
