This episode features former professional hockey player turned entrepreneur, Doug Lynch. After being drafted 7th overall by the WHL Red Deer Rebels in 1999, Doug left home to pursue his dream of playing in the NHL. After winning the Memorial Cup in 2001 Doug was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2nd round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He turned pro and embarked on an 11-year professional career where he played in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, Swedish Elite League and Austrian Elite League. During his professional career, Doug was fortunate to win another 4 championships including the ECHL Kelly Cup with the Alaska Aces in 2006, and 3 Austrian Championships. When his professional career came to an end, Doug founded DL Hockey. DL Hockey has expanded to four countries in the last 4 years of operations. In March of 2018 DL Hockey was acquired by ProSmart Sports, a digital education company for sports. Doug’s current position within ProSmart is Vice President of Business Development in China. Separately, in 2017 Doug co-founded Zenkai Sports which is a fast-emerging performance apparel company.
